Disaster

[ACSRT: Childhood Days]

As the day was drawing to a close, Miyama had produced another picture. That seemed to have really pushed his limit though as he was now hooked up to the ventilator with the IV bag in his arm. He was still awake but he was being told to relax and not strain himself any further today.

They scanned the new picture into the app and got its time and location.

Uiharu read it out "Tomorrow in the late afternoon, It's in a park in school district 7."

"That..." Miyama tried to speak slowly "Another?"

"Another?" Joule asked, Uiharu was faster though as she looked around the area.

"He made another prediction about this?"

Showing the phone to the rest of them, Uiharu pointed out the second marker on the app.

"Three minutes later, to the West-north-west of the first."

"I had it before I met you all." Miyama spoke softly, well. More softly than his normal soft tone.

"But two in the same place at the same time, this is the first time we've seen that." Shirai noted.

Joule paused "Hey, maybe it's the same event, but your efforts in stopping the other problems somehow threw off the time of the calamity?"

"No." Miyama noted "I'm fairly sure they're different events."

[ACSRT: These girls]

"But for them to be so close to each other..." Shirai pondered "Could they be the result of the same accident?"

Joule looked at the phone and coughed before wondering aloud "What could have a large enough effect for that? A fire?"

Konori shook her head "No, fresh wood doesn't catch easily. A forest fire is unlikely."

"It is sunny tomorrow though." Uiharu noted "Maybe some sticks could have gotten dried out?" She then paused "But they are several hundred meters across, There can't be that much dry wood."

Miyama took a breath and pulled the mask away so it wasn't muffling his voice "I ran it through the machine at the lab, from what I could tell, there was a lot of fire."

There was a moment of silence as Konori fussed and he put the mask back on.

"If he was right though." Uiharu looked worried "It would be really alarming for a fire that big to spring up out of nowhere. Do you think it could be caused by accelerants?"

"Maybe?" Shirai didn't sound so sure "It could also be an explosion, or pyrokinesis."

She then paused, an idea hitting her.

"And if it is covering such a large area, there's a good chance that people other than the two that he saw being victims. This is beyond what we can reasonably deal with on our own."

She looked towards Miyama "If I keep your name out of this as much as possible, can I ask for assistance?"

He nodded.

Konroi turned and headed to the phone.

"We don't know the cause yet so we can't call Anti-skill in. I'll call some other Judgement offices."

But then, Shirai turned to Joule.

"Sorry about this, but it would be best if you didn't get involved. This could be dangerous and you don't have the training we do for this sort of thing."

Joule raised an eyebrow "As if we don't get caught up in dangerous things every other..." Pausing, she counted backwards then corrected herself "-Dangerous things every week."

It had been less than a week since the last thing involving the Sisters. Continuing backwards there was the thing with Hokaze, then just over a week back from that was the mess at Daihase. And so on, and so forth.

Shirai sighed "Then at least let me keep you out of one more dangerous thing. Have fun tomorrow, leave Judgement to our job. Hang out with Sis or GV. Do something safe."

...

What were the odds that, if she hung around with Misaka, they'd both somehow end up involved in the forest fire anyway?

"Fine." Joule sighed "But we'll be keeping an eye out for five tomorrow. You'd better send word that you're okay when it's over."

End of chapter.

And yes, Joule is being told to stay out.

It's not likely to help.

This one is a bit shorter because jumping right into the park incident felt... wrong. This should really have been part of last week's chapter.
