The Evil Angel

[ACMI3: Black VS White]

Joule ran. As she did, the world shook like an earthquake was currently going on.

It wasn't the earth though, it was the clashing of the two level 5s. Windows shattered and metal shook under their power.

Joule's vision was blurred and she vaguely knew there was something wrong with her eyes.

"Lumen, help me find her." Joule noted as she rushed into the clothing store where she'd last seen Last Order. Lumen didn't respond though.

Joule tilted her head back slightly, talking to wear Lumen 'should be.'

"Lumen?"

She wasn't just sleepy, she just didn't seem to be there right now.

Joule's eyes began to hurt and her threat felt like it was drying out. She was very clearly reacting strangely. Even so, Last Order was more important right now. Through her blurred eyes, she scanned the shop again. She hummed under her breath and tried to form mental connections with everyone in range, searching for the surface thoughts of the Sister's control tower.

As she did, the world seemed to shift around her. Nothing moved but the world became... less solid? She knew by instinct that what she was seeing could not be called Real.

This was an illusion overlayed on her vision, an illusion that let her visually see everyone in the store, even those in hiding places.

Joule caught sight of Last Order and ran towards her, her vision returning to the real world and growing fuzzy again as she pulled open a changing room and found Last Order curled up under a bench.

"Last Order, I'm here."

The little girl looked up from where she was hidden and blinked up at Joule. She seemed to be confused somehow.

"Who?"

Joule grabbed her arm and hauled her out.

Through the shop's door, she could hear the two level 5s yelling at each other.

"This is my world Accelerator!"

"No it is not! I'm redefining this world as being made up of elementary particles- and that includes your Dark Matter! And once I crack your formula, that's checkmate!"

"You think you've got me figured out to the core don't you?!"

"Your core's not that deep. Trust me, there's not very much to figure out."

A shockwave shook the building as Joule and Last order pushed their way out along with a crowd of fleeing customers.

"Please." Joule prayed "Don't let them see us."

She hummed and the world distorted around her. Joule and Last Order became like glass sculptures as they ran, invisible except for the flashes of light reflecting off them. Nevertheless the illusion shattered away as they reached Uiharu and Esther.

[ACMI3: Hell Factor]

As they did though, the sounds seemed to have quieted down.

"Do you think... it's over?" Esther had recovered enough to talk as she looked in the direction the shockwave had come from. She was still lying across her dog though.

"Anti-skill should have responded by now." Uiharu noted quietly "It could be all finished."

Last Order was glancing around though, confused.

"What... where's..."

"What's wrong Last Order?" Esther asked. Last Order looked up at that and shook her head.

"I... I can't remember. We met up with you and then the next thing I remember is being pulled out from under a bench."

"Shock maybe?" Uiharu offered "Maybe you just forgot the details. It's all right."

Last Order nodded slowly but then-

A scream. Last Order perked up and looked in the direction of the scream. It was down the way the fight had been happening.

"It's him, Misaka notes." she tugged on Joule's arm as she spoke "It's Accelerator!"

The group headed back the way they'd come only to come across a storm of darkness. Esther inhaled suddenly upon seeing it.

"This is just like-"

She didn't finish the statement, or if she did then Joule couldn't hear it. Accelerator's scream was suddenly joined by a wall of AIM that washed over all of them. It was Accelerator's pain in the form of his power. The storm was his rage and sadness.

The source of the storm was Accelerator himself. Black twisters were emerging from his back like shadowy wings.

Anti-skill was there around him, they didn't seem to know what to do though as Accelerator struck his opponent with punch after punch. Accelerator could probably have killed him with one clean punch with his ability, but his anger might mean he couldn't control his ability.

To Joule, it was like that time during the incident when Last Order was uploaded with a Virus to control AIM fields.

Before any of them could say anything though, Last Order rushed forwards.

"I've found him, it's my lost child. Says Misaka Misaka, insisting on speaking with you."

Against anyone else, Accelerator's dark wings would have struck out to harm but they stopped short of hurting Last Order. The wing froze just in front of her face.

As Accelerator growled, Last Order kept talking to him. On his neck, his electrode's light glowed softly. It wasn't just Last Order who was with him.

"It's going to be alright. Says Misaka Misaka as she stretches out her hand."

Some dumb member of Anti-skill gave an Order to fire but Joule called against it "Leave him be!"

The world shifted. An illusion covered over the face of the world. Accelerator and Last Order remained facing each other and no trigger was pulled.

"Stop now." Last Order smiled as she continued. Joule could imagine the Sisters trying to reign in his ability over the link they shared with him. They were trying to calm him down from both sides.

The young girl with thousands of lives within her stretched out her arms "There there, you don't have to do this anymore. 'kay? Asks Misaka Misaka stating what's right."

Accelerator's black wings flicked out towards her but each time they were pulled back. He wouldn't strike her, no matter what. His heart was too close to hers to ever hurt her.

All Last Order needed to do was smile and have faith in him.

Accelerator's wings faded from view, the anger that had created them fading too. The level 5 stumbled, his strength exhausted. Last Order rushed over to him as he collapsed.

"It's okay. It's done. And thank goodness. Says Misaka Misaka."

And so this was the end. The Evil Angel had faded away.

Now then, there was a lot of clean-up to do and many people had to go to the hospital. Now adding herself to the list a lot earlier than she'd intended to, Joule was worried as to what had become of her.

Her eyes had returned to normal, but her throat still burned. A few minutes after they'd all made it to the hospital, Lumen had finally "woken up" from her own situation. She had been exhausted before but this was the first time Joule had seen her other side react like this. She was really worried now.

So, time to see what was wrong with herself. She'd called GV too. When getting what would likely be bad news, it was best to have friends and family one could talk to.

End of chapter.

Only clean-up now as said in the chapter. That should all show up next time.
