Acquiring the shark, to say nothing of actually getting to it, had been almost more of a problem than any animal he and the rest of the Animorphs had needed to acquire since they had all started things. Combined with the fact that one of the night guards had ended up being a Controller, and they'd had a lot more trouble than even the first time they'd all acquired their morphs at The Gardens.

They'd been forced to have Ax cut open the underwater tunnel they'd escaped into when they were being chased by the guards that had been drawn to the sound of the first guard's gun going off. Riding out the ensuing flood of water had been a problem for all of them, though Marco seemed to have gotten the worst of it, if the way he'd been shaking was any indication. Still, it wasn't as though Marco was going to talk about that kind of thing.

So, Tommy just stood by Marco, offering a shoulder to lean on if the younger boy needed it.
