As Rachel, he, and Cassie tucked in their wings and dove, with Jake, Ax, and Marco following quickly after them, Tommy only managed to catch the briefest glimpse of something in the window, before Rachel seemed to stagger in the air. Grabbing for her before her unconscious – he hoped she was only unconscious – body could sail through the window and out of their reach, Tommy heard and then felt the sudden explosion of a gunshot through his left wing.
Flapping as hard as he could, Tommy saw a sudden burst of red light; an entirely too familiar burst of red light.
The sudden appearance of the Red Ranger – of Jason, who wouldn't be able to use thought-speak, and whose voice would therefore be plainly audible to any and all Controllers who might have been in the area – distracted Tommy for a moment. Long enough that Jason was able to scoop him and Rachel up, teleporting the pair of them into the Power Rangers' Command Center.
"Hold on, Tommy," Jason said, sounding a lot more worried about an injury that Tommy was going to heal by demorphing than the fact that he'd just run the very real risk of giving the Yeerks the means to track him and the rest of the Rangers down.
Demorphing as quickly as he ever had, Tommy turned to Jason, even as the lingering traces of his eagle morph sank back into his fully restored human body.
