So I'm doing something different this chapter and I hope you guys enjoy it :3 We're taking a little look into Heaven and how I think some of the angels think and react to each other. Let me know what you think!
"Can you believe those cunts?" I did my best to not narrow my eyes at Adam's unmasked face while he crossed his arms over his chest. "They're acting as if they don't deserve the shit that coming to them."
"I brought you here to ask you some questions, Adam." I tried my best to keep a calm tone of voice as my fingers drummed on a yellow folder I had gathered before me. "Not to hear you complain. You know I have better things to do with my time."
"Shit, right." Adam seemed to flinch at my lack of amusement as he straightened his back in his chair. "What did you wanna ask me, Sera?"
"I know you spoke with the Morningstars, but there was someone else with them who was once in our ranks." I opened the folder before me and pulled out an image of the now fallen angel back when she was first placed within his team of exterminators. "I know you remember her." I slid the image across the desk toward Adam as I noticed how he curled his lip in a snarl.
"Vaggie. I remember, ya. Was one of my top girls and I recognized her off the bat. What about her?" His eyes never left the image as he leaned back in his chair. His voice was calm and collected despite his tense body language telling the opposite story in comparison.
"You and Lute harmed her, didn't you."
"I didn't do shit."
"Speak the truth, Adam." I narrowed my eyes at him as I placed my hands together on top of the folder. "I have many little details at the tip of my fingers and if you confess to your actions now, you may be redeemed from your sins against a fellow sister."
"I didn't do shit." Adam put more emphasis on his words as he unfolded his arms to slam his hands on my desk. "Do you even know what that bitch did? She-!"
"Went against the orders of the Execution Day and spared a single sinner, yes I know." I looked back down to my folder to pull out another photo and slid it over toward Adam again. "A little boy, to be precise."
"How the fuck-?"
"I am a daughter of the all-knowing Father, Adam. You of all people should know that I have my ways." I tapped at the photo. "And Father was not pleased when he heard of this."
"He hasn't been involved in decades. Why does He give a fuck n-?"
"Because one of his children was beyond pissed at the realization of what occurred on their land." I narrowed my eyes once more at Adam before continuing. "Forcing an angel to fall on the most gruesome event of the year in Hell by not just taking her halo but ripping her wings off? How stupid can you be, Adam? You thought no one would realize what happened?"
"She went against orders."
"And I can say that you went against yours." I pulled out a sheet and read off the main paragraph that I decided to cite in our conversation. "The head of the Exorcist shall lead the military movement in ways that align with Heaven's ideals. Actions done by said head should be justifiable to not just the counsel but that of He who sees all. If any actions are unjustifiable in the name of Heaven, there shall be punishments in swift and effective motions."
"But I did nothing." A shit-eating grin took over the man's face as he emphasized his sentence once more. "Lute did all the action. I just took the halo."
"You'll throw your right-hand woman to the wolves to save yourself then, Adam?"
"That's just the truth. Lute did all the action and I just took the halo. There is nothing documented anywhere about what the second lieutenant can do with punishments against resisting members of our ranks."
"That does not mean that her actions were not cruel and inhumane."
"It also doesn't mean that they were not justifiable."
"Enough trying to turn this into something good, Adam." I slammed the paper back down into the folder which caused the angel to flinch before me. "Both sides of the equation are disturbed by yours and Lute's actions all the same and has caused major strains on our relations with Hell." I pulled the images back into the folder as I scolded him. "Do you think they trust us at all now to aid in their population control? Do you think Lucifer will allow us to restrict them any further thanks to your actions? This will cause a disturbance in the balance of the universe. More so than your little mind will ever understand."
"Luci-fucker can't stop my girls even if he tried with all his might. My girls have slaughtered more souls than he has pointy little teeth in his fucking mouth. We control what goes on in this world and if they try to stop us, we'll put them in their place." I stared blankly at Adam as I tried to come up with a mature response to his remarks.
"You," I hesitated as I tried my best to not let the swell of anger take over within my chest. "You really do not know how our world works, Adam."
"I do. The only way to end up in Heaven goes by three specific things." He leaned back in his chair as he held up three fingers for emphasis. "Being selfish, not stealing, and sticking it to the man. Anyone that doesn't end up in Heaven are losers that fucked up their chance for eternal happiness and is now paying the price for ruining their life on Earth."
"Everything is based on balance, Adam. We need to keep things at even levels in Hell so it's not rampant with sinners which is why we do the population control, but we can only do much and are only allowed to give you so many angels for the action because we cannot go overboard in our actions. If we do too much, it will ruin all of Hell and cause chaos on both sides. Heaven cannot be Heaven without Hell being Hell." I sighed deeply as I did my best to not go overboard in my own explanation. "What you did disrupts our balance and we have to put things back into place."
"And what are you going to do about it?" Adam quirked an eyebrow at my remark as I ruffled through my papers once more.
"That is something that is not up to me." I leaned back in my chair as I closed the folder with a soft hand. "That is up to He and with the acceptance of the counsel."
"What about the next execution? We've moved it up for a reason."
"That we did, Adam." I put my hands together on top of the folder as I kept my gaze on the man before me. "And I know my brother is as upset at this information as he was when he found out about his fellow fallen angel."
"So why are we doing it, Sera? What's the point if what we did is so wrong?" I noticed the knowing smile on his lips as I took the folder under my hands and put it away in my desk.
"That is yet to be determined but it can go two ways at this moment depending on how our next meeting with the Morningstars goes."
"And how's that, all-knowing sister?" I kept my voice firm as I stood from my desk.
"It does not matter to you, Adam, but either way we will correct your mistakes." I pointed to the door behind him. "Now leave this office. You have no place in here any longer."
"I hope it goes the way that I'm thinking here, Sera." I watched as he stood from his chair across from me with a wicked smile as he grabbed the helmet he had placed on the floor beside him. "I'll love to finish that bitch off. Lute had all the fun last time around."
"You'll be lucky if you're even allowed to step back in Hell ever again, Adam."
