Chapter 4-Going Home

2 years later

Colt's P.O.V

Colt dropped a man in a cell and looks at the sheriff of Tumbleweed. "That's five in a week, Colt. You ever take a break?" Sam asks.

"No," Colt answers. "You going to pay me?"

"Yes," Sam says as he sets the money down on the desk. "I got another letter from Valentine, this time from Malloy, looking for you."

"Burn it like the rest," Colt says.

"Colt."

"Sam, burn it like the rest," Colt says before he leaves the building. Sam sits back in his chair and sighs.

Wyonna's P.O.V

Wyonna walks into Malloy's office and looks at the sheriff. "Anything?"

"Nope," Malloy says. "Wyonna I know you care for Colt, as do I but he has not returned to Valentine for two years, maybe it is time we accept that he is not coming back. He's doing well for himself, has built up quite a name for himself."

"I am going to hunt him down," Wyonna says.

"Wyonna."

"I have to let him make this decision for himself. Where was his last known location?"

"Tumbleweed," Malloy answers. Wyonna nods as she leaves the room.

Colt's P.O.V

Colt took a drink and set his glass down. "Another," The Bartender nods as he pours another drink.

"Drinking our sorrows away friend?" Colt turns his head and looks at a man.

"Just having a drink," Colt answers. "You?"

"Just having some alone time," The man says as he holds his hand out to Colt. "Dutch Van der Linde."

"Colt," He says as he shakes the man's hand. "You by yourself Mr. Van Der Linde?"

"My friends are out making money. Are you Colt Morgan?"

"Yes, I am," Colt says. "Why?"

"Well, I need some money and I have heard good things about your skills. Maybe we can each other."

"How so?" Colt asks.

"A have heard about a group. A family really, having been causing problems, we bring them in and, we'll have ourselves a nice payout."

"Sorry, I work alone."

"Understand," Dutch says. "You enjoy your drinks."

Colt nods as Dutch leaves the bar.

Dutch's P.O.V

Three days later

Dutch rides into a camp and looked at Hosea and Arthur Morgan. "Where is John?"

"He's in town," Arthur answers. "How was your trip?"

"Fine," Dutch answers. "Arthur, ride into town and find John, we'll leave in the morning."

Arthur nods as he stands up and leaves. Dutch looks at Hosea. "I ran into an interesting fellow. Colt Morgan, the bounty hunter."

"What of it?" Hosea asks.

"He looked an awful lot like Arthur," Dutch says.

"You think he could be Arthur's brother?" Hosea asks.

"I do not know, but it could be," Dutch says. "But I do not want to get his hopes up, once he gets back with John, we'll move on, it's time."

Hosea nods as he looks at the fire.

Colt's P.O.V

Colt took his bounty off his horse and walks inside of Sam's office. "Got another one for you Sam," He says as he opens the door.

"Sam will be back soon," Wyonna says. Colt looks at her and sighs as he takes the man and drops him in the cell.

"What are you doing here?" Colt asks.

"Well letters didn't seem to be working so I figured you couldn't run for me if I found you. It wasn't hard. You've stayed in the same area for the last two years."

"Go home Wyonna," Colt says as he grabs the stack of cash off the desk.

"No," Wyonna says as Colt walks out of the office. "Don't walk away from me," Wyonna says.

"I didn't contact you for a reason," Colt says.

"You just left, all you left me was a fucking letter," Wyonna growls as Colt stops and looks at her.

"I couldn't say goodbye," Colt says. "I don't plan on saying it now, so go home, Wyonna."

"I will when you do."

"I don't have a home, anymore," Colt says as he climbs on his horse and rides out of town.

Wyonna's P.O.V

Wyonna stood in the sheriff's office as Sam came in. "Went that bad huh,"

"Where does he go after he finishes a bounty?"

"Besides the bar?" Sam asks

"Yes, besides the bar."

"He has a camp, north of town. On top of a hill, you'll see it," Sam tells her as he marks it on a map. "Wyonna, I do not know why he left Valentine, but I do hope you can help him. I have come to respect him and see him as a friend. If he continues down this path, he will die."

"Thanks," Wyonna says as she leaves.

Colt's P.O.V

Colt sat by his fire as the sun was starting to set in the sky. He grabbed his gun when he heard a horse. He let go of his gun when he saw Wyonna. "I knew I would regret telling Sam where I stayed," Colt says. "You really do not know how to take a hint."

"Well, I'm going to try talking again and then I'm going to use force," Wyonna says making Colt smirk. "Something funny?"

"No," Colt says. "Sit," Colt says. "You need to go home."

"I remember the day I lost my father. I thought I was going to die and when I was ready to die, I saw you. I've lost everything Colt. My family is gone, Buck is gone. You're all I have left, and you left and these last two years have been hell, so no I'm leaving, so you are either coming with me or you're going to kill me, because I'm not going back to Valentine alone."

Colt stares at her for a moment before he nods. "I didn't know what to do, sitting in the house, without him, so I ran, so I ran and I've been running since," Colt says and Wyonna grabs his hands.

"We're all each other have, Colt. We have to stick together," Wyonna says. "So please, don't leave me again."

Colt stares in her eyes and nods. "Alright," Colt says as he kisses her head. "I'll come back with you," Colt says as he lays her head against hers. "I'll stay."

Wyonna smiles as she leans forward and kisses Colt who quickly kisses her back. They quickly stands up as Colt picks Wyonna up and takes her towards his tent.

Malloy's P.O.V

4 days later

Malloy walks through Valentine until he reached the graveyard. He stopped in front of Buck's grave. "It's been a week since Wyonna went looking for Colt. I should have tried harder, Buck. You wanted me to look after him and I have failed."

"You didn't fail him," Colt says as he walks up behind the sheriff.

"You're here."

"I failed him," Colt says as the Sheriff hugs him. "It's good to see you too," Colt says. "Can I get a minute?"

"Of course," Malloy says as he walks away.

Colt stares at the grave. "You gave me everything I needed to have a good life," Colt says. "I left it all because, it didn't seem like I deserved it. You saved me, Buck. I was a street rat, bound to be shot by some shop owner and you took me in, treated me like a son, treated me better than my actually father ever did. You gave me a life and I couldn't save yours and I'm so sorry. I don't deserve what you gave me. I still don't think I do, but I'm going to earn it. I promise you that. Thank you, Dad," Colt says before he walks away from the grave.

Colt's P.O.V

Colt and Wyonna sat in the house eating dinner when there was a knock on the door. He walked up to the door and opened it. "What are you doing here, Malloy?" Colt asks.

"I have something for you," Malloy says as he holds out a letter to him.

"Who is this from?"

"It's addressed to Buck. By a Hosea Matthews," Colt grabs the letter. "Also, a letter from Leviticus Cornwall."

"Thank you," Colt says and Malloy nods as he leaves. Colt walks over the table and sits down. He opens the letter from Hosea. "I haven't heard from you in a little while, Buck and I did enjoy our talks. But I heard someway say you lived in Valentine. So I hope this finds you well. If you find this, meet me in Blackwater, I have heard about your boy, Colt. I have something I wish to speak to you about."

"We got that a year ago," Wyonna says.

"I'll check it out," Colt says as he opens the letter from Leviticus Cornwall. "Mr. Morgan, when you receive this, come to Saint Denis. I have a home there and I wish to speak with you about some work. See you soon, Mr. Morgan."

"Who the hell is Leviticus Cornwall?" Wyonna asks.

"A business man," Colt answers. "I've done a few jobs for him that Sam got but I've never met him. He's mean bastard."

"So you're going to go see him?" Wyonna asks.

"I don't know yet," Colt says. "I think I'm going to enjoy being inside a house for a couple of days. I have plenty of money for now."

"Good," Wyonna says. "You can help me."

"With?" Colt asks.

"We're going to help round and brand cattle," Wyonna says with a smirk.

"On second thought I wouldn't mind going to Blackwater."

"That's what I though, I'll see you in a couple of days," Wyonna says.

"I'll leave tomorrow."

Blackwater

3 days later

Colt walks into the bar in Blackwater and looks at the bartender. "What can I get you friend?"

"I'm looking for someone," Colt says. "Hosea Matthews."

"Left about a week ago, I don't know where he went," The Bartender tells him. "Why?"

"He sent a letter to a friend of mine, Buck."

"What's your name, son?" The Bartender asks.

"Colt Morgan."

"You're Buck's boy, how is he doing?"

"He's dead," Colt answers.

"That's a real shame. Well maybe I can help you," He says. "Hosea wanted to talk with Buck about a boy he was raising. Arthur Morgan."

"If Hosea shows up here again, he send him to Valentine, do you understand?" Colt asks the bartender who nods as he leaves. Colt walks outside and smiles. "My brother is alive."
