This story is meant to be realistic but I will try my best to balance realism with the goofy theme of Ed Edd n' Eddy. Peach Creek is somewhere between Seattle and Vancouver, in Washington, USA, in this story. And events of season 1 to season 6 in Ed Edd n' Eddy took place in 2008-2009 in this story. Also, sorry for week long break. Enough yammering,

UPDATE FROM LAST CHAPTER: Peach Creek location changed from somewhere near Vancouver to somewhere in the USA. This means dialogue changes between Marie and Double D in chapter 2.
Marie is sitting on a picnic bench at the Peach Creek Public Park. She sits with 4 other people, all of which are friends from her group. Some of them are eating food they bought from a fast food joint near the park entrance. This was their usual lunch spot.
The bench was fairly quiet. Since most of them did get 5-6 hours of sleep last night. Marie is sitting, playing on her phone on the bench, when one of her friends spoke up.
"Dudeeee... this is so quiet." said Ember.
Ember is the most extroverted and energetic one in the group. She skates. And she's the singer for the group's band. Long straight blonde hair. She's a girl who wears a beanie most of the time. Black makeup. Grungy aesthetic.
Silence continued for a few seconds.
"I'm literally eating right now. What do we even have to talk about." said Piper, swallowing her food before speaking.
Piper is a guitarist for their band. She dresses in Teenpunk aesthetic. Long straight blonde hair and dark makeup. She's the one who smokes often in the group.
Marie looks over
"I don't know? The weather?" said Ember, looking around and up at the sky.
"Yeah? This is literally the same weather as yesterday." said Piper, looking at Ember
"No it's not. Yesterday it was darker and had more clouds." said Ember, looking at Piper.
"Huh. Whatever." said Piper after looking at the sky.
"Guys, just enjoy the damn silence." said Nelly.
Nelly is the bassist for their band. A tiny bit over the average BMI. She has short black hair. But not as messy as Marie's. Grungy aesthetic. Skater.
Silence continued for a few seconds.
Marie, putting her phone down on the bench and raising her posture.
"I guess I have something to talk about." said Marie
"What?" said Piper
Ember arched her back over as she rested her arms on the table, looking at Marie, seemingly interested in what Marie's about to say
"I got this assignment from Mr. Carter." said Marie, sweeping her hair.
"What is it?" said Ember.
"It's a pair and you have to plan out your future with your pair as if you two were married." said Marie.
Everyone on the table except one looked at her.
"That's crazy.. Who did you get paired up with?" asked Ember.
"That guy Edd Double D." said Marie
"Oh wait, didn't you tell us before how you two knew each other before?" said Nelly.
"Yea, yea, I did." said Marie, looking down
"Yeah.. I kinda forgot what you said when you were talking about him." said Ember
"Well.." Marie looked up at the sky
"She said she used to bully him." said Avery, still looking at her sketchbook
Avery is the artist of the group, not included in their band though, she likes to draw with pencils and pen on her sketchbook. During the conversation the group was having, she had headphones on and was just drawing stuff in her sketchbook. Glasses and a tomboy grungy aesthetic. Hair half red half black.
"Oh. Right." said Ember
"Hey hey! It's not entirely like that!" said Marie. Looking at Ember.
"Well- I mean. I DID bully him. But like.. Not the bully lunch money thing. I mean I did take his lunch money before. But mainly, it was.." said Marie, not sure if she should continue.
"Was..?" said Ember
"Uh. It was, I had a crush on him" said Marie, knowing she has to explain after what she already said.
"Oh. Dude, I thought you weren't interested in having someone." said Piper looking at Marie.
"I'm still not. It's just a topic, okay?!" Marie said.
Marie has told her friends that she isn't interested in having a boyfriend ever since they knew each other. Why? Cause she felt like she wasn't ready yet. When asked if she has a type. She knowingly lied when she said she doesn't have one. Over the years there have been attempts from other guys to get to know her to be in a romantic relationship. She however ignored all of them. She used the same reason for why she doesn't want one. She wasn't ready for one.
"Well then you don't have to shout over it." said Piper, eyeing Marie
"I- I wasn't shouting.." said Marie, looking away down as if she was guilty of something.
"I mean you kinda-" said Ember, raising her finger at Marie.
"Well it don't matter okay?" said Marie, cutting Ember off, looking back
"My point is, I mean I used to have a crush on him but we kinda stopped talking with each other. And then we get paired up for a "get married" assignment." said Marie.
"That's so cheesy." said Piper, crumbling the white burger wrap after finishing all of it.
"I know right!" said Marie, turning both her hands over in a shrug motion
"Don't forget to invite me to you guy's wedding." said Piper, smiling at Marie.
"Piper-" Marie said as she slapped Piper's shoulder, smiling back.
"Ow." Piper exclaimed in return.
"Yeah. I'd be the maid of honor." said Ember, smirking at Marie.
"You guys- I'm not into him! I mean not now I guess.." said Marie.
When she said that she did feel a little bit of doubt in her own mind. Although she brushed it off away quickly. She's sure she's not into him. She is just interested in befriending him. She does find him interesting, just not in a romantic way. Or does she?
"I guess too." Nelly said, smiling and a light chuckle at the end.
"Stop. I'm only interested in being friends with him. That is all. I don't think I'm ready for a relationship yet." Marie said.
Marie's face is slowly turning red from all the teasing her friends are sending her way. She thought in her mind, maybe she shouldn't have mentioned this, since now every time they see her interact with Edd they will tease her.
"Okay. What time is it." Marie says as she pulls up her phone and checks the time.
"10 min-" said Ember,
"Let's head back to school now, I guess. 10 minutes left." Marie says as she cuts off Ember and stands up.
Everyone else stood up and began to start walking back to school in a group. None of them had a car but it's fine since the park is only a few 8-10 minute walk from the high school. Every lunch they would walk there, buy some food at stores or restaurants around the park and eat there. Good thing is that there is a skate park inside the public park, which was so nice of the Peach Creek city council to include in. Teenagers come to the skate park often. Including Ember and Nelly.
As Marie and her friends were walking home, Avery, taking her headphones off, she showed Marie a page of her sketchbook. It was Marie and Edd holding hands together in wedding outfits and a single heart was on top of both of them.
Everyone else piled in to see what Avery showed Marie and they all began laughing and teasing Marie as she covers her face.
"You guys are the worst." Marie says, covering her face and still walking along with them back to school.
Avery tears off the page as she hands it over to Marie.
"You want it?" said Avery, in a soft tone.
Marie snatches the page away from her as she puts it in her hoodie pocket.
"I'm.. throwing it in the trash later." said Marie.
Marie is unsure what to do with the paper though. She doesn't want Avery's efforts to go all away. Or is that really the reason? Either way, she's not making a decision yet.
Edd, Edd, and Eddy sitting in a Chinese restaurant table, E-A-T-I-N-G. On the table, Edd sits, in front of him is what seems to be an almost finished plate of Yangzhou fried rice. In front of Eddy was a few garlic shrimps left and a small portion of rice, also almost finished. Ed however has a clean plate in front of him. Seems like he already finished eating and licked the plate clean. Damn. In a public restaurant. Ed is just playing games on his phone since his food is finished.
"I'm still mad at the damn administration." said Eddy, still chewing his shrimps.
"How many times have I told you to swallow before you talk, Eddy." said Edd, looking at Eddy
"Whatever." said Eddy, shrugging.
"What are you mad about?" said Edd, interested.
"Those old heads should've never removed the dang cream cheese mashed potatoes." said Eddy, in a tone like he's been through hell.
"I absolutely agree." said Edd, looking down. Lightly laughing.
"Man I used to eat those every day. It was genius too, their way of making it." said Eddy
"What a shame... They were like tater tots! But instead of potatoes. It was mashed potatoes..." said Ed
Hearing the word tater tots reminded Edd of something. Didn't the Kankers like tater tots? It was one of those moments where you realize a childhood memory or a fact out of no where.
Edd raised his hand over to call the attention of his friend, food in his mouth, chewing with his mouth closed.
"What?" Eddy said, looking at Edd
Edd swallows.
"Tater tots. Fellas, do you remember in Junior High eighth grade when the school recently opened and we had been assigned separate homerooms and we tried to negotiate with the Kankers to trade our homerooms?" said Edd.
"Yeah, and they made a joke of us in front of the school." said Eddy.
"Then they tricked us into the girl's bathroom and-" said Ed.
"Well gentlemen, that's not my point. When I went to the Kankers in the boiler room I gave them tater tots to trade for our spot." said Edd.
"Yeah? Cool, and Lee used to say I look like one." said Eddy, eating his garlic shrimps.
"Ohhh, guys! You made me hungry again. I want some tater tots now." said Ed
"Buy one. With your money this time." said Eddy, looking at Ed.
"The Kankers.. We didn't even get our homeroom trade." said Eddy, continuing.
"Well I had a conversation with Marie earlier, and she seems to be more grown up. I don't see her being a menace to society anymore." said Edd.
"Really? I should hope so. What did you guys even talk about?" said Eddy.
"We got paired up for an English assignment, that is all." said Edd.
"What assignment?" asked Ed, raising his eyebrow looking at Edd
"Yeah." asked Eddy, looking at Edd also.
"We plan our future as if we are married." said Edd.
Eddy almost choked on his shrimp as he heard this, beating his chest with a fist.
"Really?" asked Ed, raising all of his unibrow.
"Yes, really." said Edd.
"That's a funny assignment." said Ed, looking at Edd.
"Good luck- Double D. Plan out your marriage with your middle school stalker." said Eddy, coughing in the middle of his sentence.
"Thanks, Eddy. Although there is no need to mention the second part of your sentence, as I believe she is no longer the same 4 years ago." said Edd.
"Alright, alright, we'll see soon I guess." said Eddy, eating the last shrimp on his plate
"Double D why do you eat so slowly?" asked Ed.
"So I can enjoy the meal longer." replied Edd.
Nothing worth noting happened later after lunch at school. The Eds went back to the school, but not before going to the candy store next to China Palace. Though they have grown up, their love for jawbreakers still remain. They headed back to school and had 20 minutes to spare at lunch. They just sold snacks to some kids during those 20 minutes.
With Marie and her friends, when they reached school it was time to go back to the classroom already. Nothing much happened.
The day ended with Edd driving Eddy, Ed and Sarah back to their Cul-de-Sac. And the Kankers walking home together.
Edd unlocks the door to his house and enters it. He takes off his shoes and put on house slippers. He goes to his room and takes off his bag, hanging it close to the door. He sat down on his desk and began to do his homework.
Lee, Marie, May reached their trailer as they go inside. Slowly they took off their shoes to not wake their mother. They know she is sleeping as she works early in the morning and gets home when they are at school. They rarely see each other because of this. Marie takes off her hoodie and puts it in the clothes basket. Lee went upstairs to change into her work outfit.
"Let me shower first. I sweated a lot today." said Marie, soft tone
"You sweat the most every day but go ahead." replied May.
"Yeah. Cause I exercise the most. Lazy bum." replied Marie, glaring at May.
"Shut your mouth and go shower Marie. And don't be long." said May.
Marie, going up to her room, which is shared with both of her sisters. She undresses and puts on a towel as she walks back downstairs into the bathroom. Around 20 minutes later she walks out of the shower. Marie is a long showerer. Her sisters hated this. She goes upstairs and puts on her Pajamas, olive green shirt and black boxer shorts. Marie now lays in her bed, looking through her phone. When she remembered something. She went to her patchwork bag on the table and pulled out Double D's number. She began typing it onto her phone and called.
BZZZZZ Edd then puts his pen down and pulled off his earbuds as he was studying. He then picked up the phone
"Hello. Edward speaking." said Edd. Putting his phone to his ear as he leans back on his office chair.
"Hiii Double D." Marie says in a sweet high pitched voice.
"Oh. Hello Marie. What do you need at this hour of the day?" said Edd.
"Nuthin'... I'm just bored." said Marie.
"Well. How are you doing?" asked Edd.
"Fine. Hey about the project. You said you want it to be warm autumn themed? Or white red theme?" said Marie.
"Yes." said Edd.
"I had a thought in the middle of the day. We should make it us themed. You know. Me and you, you put what you like and I put what I like to decorate the paper." said Marie
Upon finishing her sentence. Marie realized that it might not be normal for a work like this to be a mix of the two people doing it. Maybe other people doesn't do that. Why did she suggest that. Maybe he'll think she likes him or something. Which she doesn't! By the way!
"Interesting proposal Marie. I never thought of that. Good idea. We'll do that." said Edd, impressed.
Oh.
"Okay. It would be like science flasks, DNA on one side and then something like an electric guitar on the other side. Right?" said Marie.
"Something similar to that." said Edd.
Silence for a few seconds.
"Sure." said Marie.
Silence for more seconds.
"You play electric guitar?" asked Edd.
"Nah. But I play the drums." replied Marie, rolling over on her bed.
"Oh, wow. How long have you been playing?" asked Edd, intrigued.
"Like two three years." replied Marie.
"You play any instruments?" asked Marie, continuing.
"Uh, well. I can play the piano and the pedal steel guitar. Although I don't like it." said Edd
"Hm? Well if you don't like it why did you play it? Did you lose interest?" asked Marie.
"No, I never had any interest. My parents forced me to." answered Edd
"Damn. You mean the pedal steel guitar?" asked Marie.
"Yes, piano I quite enjoy." answered Edd.
"What even is a pedal steel guitar?" asked Marie, confused.
"It's basically a guitar on a table, minus the body and you can change the pitches with your foot." said Edd.
"Huh. You learn new things every day I guess." said Marie.
"That is one of the best things about life." said Edd.
"Heh." Marie exclaimed.
"What got you interested in drumming?" asked Edd.
"Hmm... Well.. I just liked it when I tried it the first time I guess. I found out I had a talent for it so I just started doing it more. Plus I really like whacking things with sticks. Like baseball." answered Marie.
"Ah, of course." answered Edd.
"Why did you start playing the piano?" asked Marie.
"I just find the piano to be an interesting piece of instrument. And I wanted to learn how to play one. And I liked it." answered Edd.
"Oh, I guess for me I never had interest in drums. Until I tried it. Really fun. You know, I actually wanted to try playing an electric guitar. I tried both on the same day. Electric guitar you just need to memorize and place your finger somewhere. I don't like memorizing. Plus my fingers hurt. But drums, you just hit something along with some other thing. Simple enough." said Marie, clear joy in her voice.
"That's nice. Aren't drums more difficult than guitars?" asked Edd.
"I guess it depends on people. Drums are harder for most people. For me, it's easier to coordinate hands and feet than move my fingers to specific places." answered Marie.
"Ah, of course." said Edd.
"Well I can play only one thing on the electric guitar." said Marie.
"What is it, Marie?" asked Edd.
"Mary Had a Little Lamb." Marie answered. Laughing.
Edd laughed through the phone, also. Their laughter continued for a few seconds.
"Well, Marie, I have to say. It has been nice catching up with you." said Edd.
"Yeah? I can say that too." said Marie.
"I'm glad to hear that." said Edd.
"Me too." said Marie.
"Well, I have to go take a shower. And cook dinner." said Edd.
"Okay. Talk you you later, Double D." said Marie.
"Goodbye, Marie." Edd says as he then hangs up.
Marie puts her phone down. It has been a pretty nice chat. What does she have to do at 6 PM? Kill time then fall asleep I guess. Marie gets up as she goes to her laptop.
