One Month Later

It had been a month since the harrowing encounter with Doflamingo's men. Life had returned to a semblance of normalcy for Luffy. School was fun, and he enjoyed spending time with his friends. The memory of the betrayal and the danger had begun to fade, replaced by the usual antics and laughter.

After the final bell, Luffy gathered his things and met up with his friends outside. They joked and teased each other, the carefree banter of youth filling the air. As they parted ways, Luffy spotted Sabo waiting for him by the school gate.

"Hey, Sabo!" Luffy called out, running over. "What are you doing here?"

Sabo smiled. "Thought I'd give Ace a break and pick you up today. We're heading over to the Whitebeard office."

Luffy's eyes lit up. "Awesome! Let's go!"

The Whitebeard office was more than just a place of business; it was a second home for Luffy and his brothers. As they walked in, Luffy was greeted by familiar faces. The members of Whitebeard's crew treated him like family.

"Hey, kiddo!" Thatch called out, ruffling Luffy's hair as he passed by. "How's school treating you?"

Luffy grinned. "It's great! I aced my math test!"

Thatch laughed. "Well done! Keep that up, and you might just outsmart Ace one day."

"Hey!" Ace protested, walking over with a smirk. "I'm plenty smart!"

Luffy and Thatch burst into laughter, and even Marco, who was usually serious, cracked a smile from his desk.

Whitebeard, the towering patriarch of their group, watched the scene with a warm smile. "Good to see you, Luffy," he rumbled, his voice like thunder.

"Hi, Pops!" Luffy said cheerfully. "It's good to be here."

Whitebeard's eyes twinkled. "Always a pleasure to have you here, my boy."

Just as the camaraderie was in full swing, Ace's phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and his expression darkened. "I need to take this."

The room fell silent as Ace answered the call. He listened intently, his face growing more serious with each passing second. "Understood. We'll be there soon."

He hung up and turned to the others. "There's trouble in one of our territories. We need to handle it."

Sabo, Marco, and Thatch immediately stood, ready for action. Luffy, sensing the urgency, jumped up. "I'm coming too!"

Ace shook his head firmly. "No, Luffy. You need to go home. It's too dangerous."

"But—" Luffy began to protest.

"No buts," Ace said sternly. "Go home, Luffy. We'll handle this."

Luffy pouted but knew better than to argue further. "Fine," he grumbled.

Whitebeard placed a reassuring hand on Luffy's shoulder. "It's for your own safety, my boy."

Luffy nodded reluctantly. "I understand, Pops. Be careful, everyone."

As the group left, Luffy turned to Whitebeard and gave him a hug. "See you later, Pops."

"Take care, Luffy," Whitebeard said warmly. "Stay safe."

On his way home, Luffy felt a growing unease. He couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching him. Glancing around, he noticed a suspicious-looking man following him at a distance.

His heart raced. "It could be one of Doflamingo's men," he thought. Without another moment's hesitation, Luffy broke into a run. The man behind him started running too, confirming his worst fears.

Thinking quickly, Luffy realized going home where no one was waiting wasn't a good idea. He veered off the path and headed towards Shanks' house, a place he knew was safe.

As he reached Shanks' doorstep, Luffy banged hard on the door, his voice frantic. "Shanks! Open up! Please, Shanks!"

Just as the man closed in, the door flew open. Shanks stood there, a look of surprise on his face. "Luffy? What's going on?"

Luffy rushed inside, breathless. "Someone's chasing me! I think it's one of Doflamingo's men!"

Shanks' expression darkened. He looked past Luffy to see the man standing at the end of the driveway. "Stay inside, Luffy."

Shanks stepped out onto the porch, his presence commanding and intimidating. The man froze, clearly recognizing Shanks. When the intruder realized he was no match, he turned and bolted.

"Follow him," Shanks ordered one of his men, who immediately took off after the stranger.

Shanks then turned back to Luffy, his expression softening. He gently pushed Luffy inside and closed the door. "You're safe now."

Luffy, still shaken, looked up at Shanks. "Thanks, Shanks. I didn't know where else to go."

Shanks knelt down, his eyes kind but serious. "You did the right thing, Luffy. Never hesitate to come to me if you're in trouble."

Luffy nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. "I was so scared."

Shanks ruffled his hair affectionately. "I know, kiddo. But you're safe now. Let's get you something to drink and calm down, alright?"

Luffy nodded, finally beginning to relax. "Okay."

As Shanks led him into the house, Luffy couldn't help but feel grateful for having such strong and caring people in his life.

No matter the danger, he knew he wasn't alone.
