Trigger warning brief mention/description of self harm
Sounds of footsteps pacing back and forth filled the newly constructed office within the Hazbin Hotel. Charlie felt restless and worrisome as she had yet to hear of any updates from her father regarding the hour glass. It had been just over a week since Hell's battle with Adam and his army of exorcists and the hour glass that struck fear upon the pride rings residents now stood dormant.
At first Charlie was hopeful of it being a sign of Heaven and Hell coming together and the beginning of a conjoined effort to rehabilitate sinners. However, with each passing day she had grown fearful that instead of Heaven coming up with an idea of how to work together that they were brewing an idea of how to punish her people for her counteract against the exorcists. She let out a sigh and gazed out her office's window.
'How much longer are we safe for? What if they decide to just attack without warning? What if...' Her thoughts were interrupted when she noticed in the window a reflection of a red vortex appearing within her office. She quickly approached it hoping that its producer came with good news.
"Good morning Charlie." Lucifer said with a smile.
"Hi dad. What brings you by so early?" She asked hoping that he came as a bearer of good news.
"I have some news for you Charlie that is bound to make excite you. Or rather someone."
"Is it an angel? Is an angel here? Are we having a meeting with Heaven!?" Charlie asked eager to hear the details of who her father had brought. However, her eagerness began to dwindle when she noticed the smile on Lucifer's face begin to lessen and his eyes softening as if he was preparing to disappoint her.
"Sorry Charlie it's not anyone from Heaven. I still haven't heard anything yet." It broke Lucifer's heart to see his daughter's excitement turn to disappointment. "I've been waiting for Heaven contact me but, as of now there's nothing to report. I promise as soon as I hear anything I'll let you know. And no matter what..." He said before reaching out and placing a comforting hand on Charlie's shoulder, " We'll get through it you'll see." He gave Charlie a reassuring smile hoping to lift her spirits.
"Thanks dad." She said smiling back at him. Although it wasn't the answer she was hoping for she had to believe that things would work out. Her thoughts then returned to her fathers earlier statement. " So if it's not someone from Heaven then who did you bring?" She asked returning to her desk to collect her plans for the day to help Angel achieve redemption.
"Ah yes. I've brought you a new guest for the hotel! Isn't that exciting?" He asked hoping his news would make her happy.
"Thank you for bringing someone dad but, the hotel is supposed to be a place sinners choose to come to." Charlie said happy that her dad was trying to help her mission.
"I know however, this guest is different than most of our people. She seems more lost than wicked and I think with your help she may be able to redeem herself. So will you help her?"
Charlie sat and pondered for a moment. "I'll help out our new guest but if she wants to leave I won't stop her."
"Understood kiddo."
"Great! Now where is she? I'm so excited to show her around the hotel and I can't wait to introduce her to everyone!" Charlie exclaimed ready to present her new guest with her plan for redemption.
"She's currently resting. I found where she descended after her death and placed her in a room to rest. She should be waking up soon. Come on I'll take you to her."
Visions of the the dismembered bodies filled her vision. The screams of terror filled her ears. No matter how much she tried to shield herself from them visions and noise would not leave her. The vision then adapted to her the torments she endured during her youth. She pled for everything to stop it wouldn't. This was an eternal nightmare. This was Hell. This is what she damned herself to an eternity of reliving the worst moments in her life. A new vision appeared before her one that she did not to wish relive.
"Stop!" Celeste screamed her body raising itself to a sitting position. She felt the cold sweat on her skin as she gasped for air. Her body still trembling with fear of the images that had filled her mind. "It was just a dream." She whispered to herself releasing a deep breath and focusing on calming her adrenaline filled body.
She opened her eyes once her heart steadied and was confused when she gazed upon her surroundings.
"What the fuck is this place?" Celeste muttered to herself as she arose from the bed deciding it would be best to have a look around her current quarters. As she inspected the room Celeste was amazed at the quality of furniture and decor. This was not how she envisioned Hell.
Prior to joining the cult she was lectured on the afterlife of the damned and how it was filled with eternal flames and torment. Instead she couldn't help but notice the room appeared similar to that of a hotel room. Her inspection was interrupted when she gazed upon a creature staring back at her with eyes as empty and black as the night. Celeste released a scream of fright and hid behind a curtain of a nearby window. She could hear her heart beat racing in her ears and felt her legs quaking as she awaited the moment for when the creature would unveil her from her poor hiding spot and do whatever such a creature of hell as designed to do.
However, as the seconds continue to pass she could not help but notice the lack of footprints or sound of movement nearing her. Celeste poked her head out in search of the creature she saw yet the room appeared to remain undisturbed. She slowly came out from behind the curtain and cautiously moved through the room attempting to make her way to escape. As she crept through the room she continued to glance through the room ready to dash away from the creature if it were to reappear. She found the nearest door and quickly opened it leaving the chambers from which she arose in.
Celeste noticed the space she had entered was not a hallway but rather a new room which had no light. She grazed her hands along the wall in search of something that would bring light into the space. Her hand stumbled upon what felt like a light switch and flipped the switch. Light filled the room and once again Celeste let out a scream as the creature she had seen before now appeared within an arms reach. In a futile effort to keep herself from harm she brought her arms up to shield her from the creature. She awaited the pain from an anticipated attack however, none came. Confused that she remained unharmed Celeste began to slowly lower her arms.
As much as she wanted to shut her eyes in fear she fought such urge and kept them focused ahead. She noticed that the creature had also raised its arms to shield themselves. Arms that were also slowly being lowered. In a moment of realization she let out a gasp and quickly released her arms from their defensive position. The creature had done the same. It was just as she had realized but a mere second ago. She was the creature before her eyes.
Celeste was amazed at how different her appearance was from that of her mortal form. Her flesh was now a pale sickly gray with several lacerations covering her arms and one draped across her neck. Her heart wrenched a bit as she knew what these wounds were. Though they healed and concealed themselves in the mortal world it appeared that in the afterlife they were there to haunt her. She forced herself to dismiss her focus as there was no use in crying over the consequences of her actions and continued to familiarize herself with her new appearance. Her hair was now the shade of similar to a swan's feather, horns that appeared to be about 3 inches tall now rested on her forehead, and she was greeted once more with the sight of her eyes now just black pools. Celeste opened her mouth and saw sharp teeth similar to that of a predators and her tongue similar to the of a serpents. Donned upon her body was her black wedding gown however, it now appeared shorter as if the portion that had been below knee had succumbed to flames as the hems appeared singed.
This is who she was. This was her eternal form. She exited the bathroom and returned to her bed. She wondered if her dwellings were a result of the ritual.
'If that's true than where is Lucifer?'
Knock Knock Knock
'Speak of the devil and he doth appear.' She thought.
She cautiously made her way to the door. Terrified yet prepared to meet her groom who awaited her on the other side of the door.
