Hey everyone! I'm back with another chapter! I hope you like it. P.S. Sorry for any grammatical errors.
Transformers Animated: Different Angle
Chapter 31: Capture
Disclaimer: I don't own Transformers Animated
Days after our big clean, Kylie and I tag along with the bots again and clean out another site from the Headmaster battle.
I toss a broken cement piece into our trash pile before dusting my servos off. Curious to see how Kylie's doing, I look over to see her sitting down on the job listening to her radio.
Seriously? This is the third time I've caught her doing this. Frowning, I walk over to confront her.
"Am I interrupting something?" I ask the small femme as I stand in front of her.
She turns off her radio and looks up at me. "Nope, not at all. Something wrong?"
"Nooo, nothing at all," I say sarcastically, "I'm just wondering why this spot still looks like it did twenty minutes ago."
Kylie looks around at the area. Besides the small debris around, there's still shrapnel and broken glass all over the pavement. Only a portion of it has been swept before I'm guessing she called quits.
She just shrugs. "It's a long process."
I frown at her. "Kylie, all you have to do is sweep out the street."
"I just need a break," she argues.
"Isn't this like your third break?" I ask her.
"We've been here a long time."
"We've been here for thirty minutes!" I exclaim.
She looks at me in disbelief. "Really? Feels like it's been hours."
I pinch my brow and let out a vent. "Kylie, come on. We both said we would chip in. Just finish clearing up this area, then you can take a break. Unless you want me to keep on nagging."
Not wanting to deal with my lectures, Kylie groans as she stands up. "Fine, I'll finish cleaning."
I shake my head at her before returning to my work. As I move the rubble away, I see a large piece of cement with a few metal bars sticking out of it. I decide to tackle that one next. Grabbing hold, I try picking it up, only to soon discover it's a bit too heavy for me. I try lifting with my legs to pick it up, making me grunt as I try to stand it up. I end up dropping it as I vent from exhaustion. However, I'm too stubborn to give up.
"Alright," I say as I give my arms a shake. Activating my thrusters, I grab hold of one of the metal poles and pull upwards. I grunt as I keep pulling, hoping to at least get it to move. Instead, I end up snapping the pole off. I shriek as I fly backwards into the air. Turning off my thrusters, I tumble onto the street and land on my back with a thud. I let out a groan as I look at the broken pole in my servo.
"Well, that didn't work," I say before sitting up. I then hear movement beside me, making me look over to see a small group of humans standing there. Each have a look of horror on their faces as they stare at me.
"Oh! Uh... Hi," I say with a wave.
The group shriek as they immediately run away in the other direction.
"Wait! I didn't mean to scare you!" I yell to them. But they only keep running until they're out of sight.
I can't help but sadly sigh at this. Ever since the Headmaster fiasco, everyone sees me as the destructive bot Masterson took over. Not to mention the fact I look like a Decepticon doesn't make them feel comfortable either. I try not to let it get to me, but I can't help but feel sad by this. I don't want others to be scared of me.
Trying to brush it off, I fly back over to the construction site to resume cleaning, though I'm still upset as I work.
All of a sudden, a sound blares loudly behind me, not only scaring me, but making me cover my audio receptors from the high volume. Turning around, I see Kylie using her mod on the street, sending the debris flying away.
"KYLIE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" I yell at her.
"MAKING THIS GO BY FASTER!" she shouts back, "I SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THIS SOONER!"
I watch as the shrapnel and rubble go flying from the sonic attack. But instead of sending it towards the rubbish pile we've started, it flies everywhere else! She's making an even bigger mess!
"TURN IT OFF!" I yell at her.
"WHAAT?!" she shouts back at me.
"TURN IT OFF!"
She turns off her mod and deactivates her visor. "What?!"
I frown at her. "WHAT WAS THAT?!"
"I thought using my mod would make me finish sooner." she says.
We both look to see the rubble just scattered everywhere. I can't help but give her a look.
"All you did was give us a bigger mess to clean up!" I exclaim.
"What's going on here?!" Ratchet asks as he and the other bots rush over towards us, "what's with all the noise?!"
I look at Kylie. "Smarty Pants here thought using her sonic cannons was a good idea to clear out shrapnel. For crying out loud Kylie, you can't just have stuff like that fly around! Someone could have gotten hurt!"
"I just wanted to get the job done sooner!" she protests.
"You have sonic cannons, not leaf blowers!"
"Alright, that's enough," Optimus says as he gets between me and Kylie. He then looks sternly at the smaller femme. "Jacy is right. Your sonic cannons are weapons. They can cause more harm than good. Sometimes the easiest method isn't always the wisest."
Kylie shamefully looks down.
Optimus lets out a vent. "I know you mean well, Kylie, but please, be more careful."
The bots leave to resume rebuilding. Kylie and I look at the area, both not too pleased with the extra work.
"Well, time for a break," Kylie says as she goes to head back to her spot.
"Oh no!" I say as I pick her up from behind.
"Hey!" she exclaims.
"You made this mess, you're going to help me clean it," I tell her sternly as I pick up the broom and hand it to her.
Kylie frowns but takes the broom while grumbling.
(Time skip)
Back at the factory, Kylie and I are sitting with Waldorf, Sari, Bumblebee, and Bulkhead as we watch the news. Sari shares her snacks with Waldorf as he lays down beside her, enjoying the treats given to him. We all watch the screen as the news reporter speaks.
"Ever since the battle that took place here in downtown Detroit, the Autobots have worked nonstop to rebuild the city. With their heroic deeds saving countless lives from the Headmaster and Decepticons, they have once again earned the respect of the people. And we cannot thank them enough."
"Heck ya!" Bumblebee cheers, "so much for that Cybertronian ban. Detroit loves us again."
The news reporter continues. "However, many are still concerned with one of their newest members."
A photo of me then pops up much to my dismay.
"Though it was the Headmaster in control, it was this flying autobot's body Masterson used in his conquest for destruction."
I groan as the tv shows footage of Headmaster using my mod, causing a whole lot of damage.
"Many fear she may be more of a danger than help. Some even compare her to the Decepticons with her size and ability to fly. Is she trustworthy? Or is she just waiting for the right moment to show her true colors?"
"Guess they don't love all of us," Bumblebee comments.
"Bumblebee!" Sari sternly snaps at him.
He's not wrong though.
Letting out a vent, I stand up. "I'm gonna step out for a bit."
"Hey, don't let that news reporter get to you," Bumblebee says to me, "that guy doesn't know what he's talking about."
"Yeah!" Kylie agrees, "you're totally not destructive. I mean, so what if you look like a Decepticon and Masterson used your body to destroy downtown. The people have no reason to be afraid of you."
I can't help but give her a look before letting out a vent. "If anyone needs me, I'll be outside."
I walk away, ignoring the looks I'm most likely getting. Soon as I walk out the door, I'm greeted by the night. I keep walking as I make my way further into the yard. I then stop as I stare at an empty oil can at my pedes. A frown forms on my face as the news reporter's words echo in my head.
"I'm not destructive!" I exclaim as I kick the oil can away. However, I accidentally kick it too far as it flies upwards and lands far out of sight.
CRASH! SHATTER! "MEEEOOOW!" HONK! HONK! HONK! HONK! HONK!
I flinch at the sounds caused by the oil can. The car alarm kept sounding in the distance as my wings sadly droop down.
"Never mind," I groan.
I sadly look at my reflection in a puddle beside me. Why did the fragment make me look like a Decepticon? And why a triple changer?
Just then I fearfully shriek when I feel a tap on my shoulder. "It was an accident!" I shout out before turning around.
"Whoa!" Bulkhead says as he raises his servos up. "Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."
Seeing it's only him, I let out a vent of relief and chuckle. "Sorry. I was just lost in thought. What's up?"
He looks at me sympathetically. "I couldn't help but notice you looked sad. Just wanted to check up on you."
I softly smile. "That's sweet Bulkhead. I'm okay. It's just..." my smile disappears as I sadly look at the ground. "I really wish people weren't scared of me."
"Hey, you don't actually believe that do you?" he asks.
I let out a vent. "Earlier today there was a group of people that saw me. They were scared and ran away the moment I said hi." I look up at him. "I notice the looks I get from others. They're afraid when they see me. And the fact I look like a Decepticon doesn't help either. And I don't blame them."
"You don't look like a Decepticon!" Bulkhead says, "so you're tall and can fly. But you're... you're... not purple! Decepticons are purple... Well, maybe not all of them." He taps his large digit on his chin as he thinks. "Come to think of it, Megatrons not purple."
I can't help but chuckle at him pondering before my smile disappears again. "Sometimes I wonder why I was sent here like this. Why the shell of a Decepticon and not of an Autobot? Heck, even the Decepticons think I'm a traitor because I look like them!"
"You just have to show the city who you really are," Bulkhead says, "you know, show them you're not a destructive bot. Try something that expresses yourself. I learned how to express myself through art. Maybe you should try something like that. It could also help you not to stress out so much. What's something you liked doing as a human?"
I think back on my favorite hobbies back home. "Well, I like baking, but I can't eat human food anymore, not to mention I'm too big to fit in a kitchen. I also used to go running but I doubt the humans would enjoy a giant robot running down the street."
"Aw come on, there's gotta be something," he says optimistically.
I keep trying to think of something. One thing does come to mind. "I used to do a little bit of writing."
"Oh?" he asks curiously, "what kind of writing?"
"Just random short stories," I say, "they're not very good though. Plus, my grammar is horrible."
"Oh, I'm sure they're not bad," he says, "maybe give it another shot. It might help you feel better."
Just then we hear an alarm coming from inside the base.
"Uh oh," Bulkhead says.
Running back inside, we make our way to the computer to see an Allspark fragment signature on the screen.
"Looks like we're going out tonight," Bumblebee says.
Sumdac zooms in on the signature. "It's somewhere downtown. But I can't get a precise location."
"We better move before the Decepticons get to it first," Optimus says, "we can't afford to let them get another fragment."
"I can fly ahead and give us a head start," I offer.
"The last time you flew off on your own, you lost a head," Prowl reminds me.
"Prowl has a point," Optimus agrees, "I'd rather you not go alone."
"I'll go with her," Kylie volunteers, "I'm small enough for her to carry."
"I better tag along as well just in case," Prowl offers.
Optimus looks at me. "Think you can fly with two passengers?"
"Worth a shot," I say, "how bad can it be?"
(Time skip)
"I had to open my big mouth," I grumble.
Both Kylie and Prowl are sitting on top as I fly in my jet mode. As I fly, my two passengers won't stop arguing.
"Are we there yet?!" Kylie fearfully asks as she holds onto me for dear life.
"You asked that three times already," Prowl grumbles as he sits behind her.
"We're almost there," I tell Kylie.
"Can't we slow down a bit?!" she asks, "I feel like I'm going to fly off!"
"We have to get there soon as possible," Prowl tells her.
"I'd feel better if there were seat belts!" she says as she tries to adjust herself.
"Do you mind?!" Prowl asks as he shifts away, "you keep moving, I'll lose my grip!"
"I'm trying to get comfortable!" she argues, "can't you back up?!"
"No, I can't back up! You're taking up too much space."
"Was that a fat joke?!" she asks angrily.
"Both of you be quiet or I'll turn around!" I snap at them as if they're children.
Both grumble as they hold on and keep quiet for the rest of the ride.
It's not long before we make our way to the spot. Unable to land in jet mode, I glance back at Prowl and Kylie. "This is where I drop you off."
"But we're still in the ai- AAH!" Kylie shrieks as I transform into bot mode, making her and Prowl lose their hold on me. Once I'm in bot mode, I swoop down and catch them both.
"A heads up would have been nice," Prowl says as he frowns up at me.
"Sorry," I apologize. I descend down onto the street as I hold onto Kylie and Prowl. Once I land, I gently set them both down on the ground.
"Sumdac says the fragment should be here somewhere," Prowl says, "perhaps we can cover more ground if we split up."
I look around. Good news is there's no sign of any Decepticons. "Let's keep the comms open just in case," I say.
The three of us split up as we search for the fragment. I check every nook and cranny I can, but with no luck. After a while, Kylie and I end up bumping into each other.
"Did you find it?" Kylie asks me.
"Yes, but I hid it again so you could find it," I say sarcastically.
She vents. "It's gotta be here somewhere."
I bring my attention to my commlink. "Any luck, Prowl?"
"No sign," he says. He then speaks to Sumdac. "Professor Sumdac, is the signature still there?"
"It hasn't moved," the professor says.
I look around and frown. Everything's quiet. Too quiet. Not to mention, not a single Decepticon has shown up.
"Doesn't this seem off?" I ask my friend.
"What do you mean?" Kylie asks.
"We haven't seen a single Decepticon show up," I explain.
"I've been wondering that as well," Prowl agrees.
"Maybe they're busy," Kylie guesses.
"Too busy to get an Allspark fragment?" I ask, "Megatron would at least send one of his subordinates."
"Maybe they're running late," Kylie guesses again.
"They're all fliers!" I argue, "They wouldn't take this long."
"Maybe they're still asleep?"
I can't help but shake my head at her. "I worry for you sometimes, you know that?"
We walk a few feet away before I notice something in the corner of my optic. A small bright light, shining in the alley way.
"Look," I say as I stop in my tracks.
Kylie stops as well and sees what I see. Laying there on the ground was the fragment, glowing brightly by itself in the dark.
"Hey, there it is!" Kylie says happily, "Prowl, we found it!"
I however frown. Why is it just lying there right out in the open? Something doesn't feel right. "Kylie, I have a bad feeling about-" I stop midsentence as Kylie runs over to the fragment. My optics widen in horror. "Kylie!"
"Come to mama!" she says as she rushes over to grab it.
I run after her to try and stop her. "STOP!"
As she gets closer, a red laser appears where she steps. Before I can do anything, something launches right at her. She screams as it wraps around her and sends her falling to the ground.
"KYLIE!" I shout as I rush over. I see it's a net that's wrapped around her, trapping her arms and legs together.
She looks at herself before looking up at me. "It's a trap!"
"Gee, what gave that away?" I ask, "the fact it was just laying there out in the open? The booby trap you set off?"
"Lecture me later! Get me out of here!"
I go to help her before I hear a sound behind me. Activating my mod, I turn around with my weapon ready. I don't see anything, but I get the feeling we're not alone. Just then something comes flying at me. I let out a shriek as I form a force field, shielding myself from whatever was launched at me. Dropping the field, I start firing in the direction it came from. I see a shadow leaping out of the way as it dodges my attack.
"What is that?!" Kylie asks.
"I'm guessing the guy that set the trap," I tell her. I stand my ground as I raise my servos outwards. "Show yourself!" I tell the figure.
"Jacy, on your left!" Kylie shouts.
Looking over, I see something coming at me. Immediately I make a force field and shield myself from the weapon. My optics widen when I see a chainsaw spinning rapidly against the force field. Looking behind the chainsaw, I see who the attacker is.
"Nice mod," Lockdown says as he evilly grins.
Using my field, I push him back. He skids back on his pedes as his chainsaw scrapes against the pavement.
Not wanting to stick around, I pick up Kylie. "We gotta get out of here!" I activate my thrusters and fly upwards. Just then I feel a whole lot of electricity course through my body. Kylie and I both scream in pain before we fall to the ground. I let go of Kylie as I land on my back, groaning from the shock. As I look up, I see little devices attached to the walls. Most likely they were what electrocuted us once we were close enough.
Too weak to fight, I try getting a hold of Prowl. "Prowl... we need back up," But all I hear is static, "Prowl?" Still nothing. I go quiet as Lockdown towers over me, his red optics glowing bright in the dark. My vision is going in and out from his trap as I try to stay awake.
"Don't expect your friend to save you," the bounty hunter says, "and by the time the others arrive, you'll be long gone."
Next thing I know, everything goes black.
Dun dun daaaa! That's not good. Thank you all for reading this and hopefully I will post again soon. Until next time! God bless!
