Eve did not drink strong enough liquor to deal with the masculine energy coming from the barbeque. Mason had kept his hand practically up her skirt the entire day, which wouldn't have been so bad if they weren't with other people, and especially with those other people being Alaric and Damon. Alaric had seen Eve rip a man's heart out. Damon had…Damon had seen her do far worse things…But having the teacher see that sort of thing made Eve's skin crawl…let alone with Damon making snarky comments towards Mason.

Even if Mason wasn't catching on to the cheeky 'wolf' comments and analogies that Damon kept tossing his way, Mason was getting more and more irritated by them. Eve knew by the bruises that were on her thighs that Mason was getting upset with Damon…And yet the two men seemed to be feeding off the other while Eve felt like a casualty in their pissing race.

Eve wished she had been an actual casualty. At least then she wouldn't know that Mason was definitely a werewolf, as well as the fact that Damon was actually jealous. When Eve said that she and Damon would be upset or jealous of each other, Eve hadn't actually expected Damon to get jealous. Eve had only ever experienced Damon's jealousy when he was drunk and upset about Katherine. Eve never expected Damon to be jealous of her and Mason's relationship…Eve wouldn't have believed it, but with Damon outright telling her he was jealous…it was strange. Everything was strange.

Eve was tired and not drunk enough to deal with all of the emotions that kept bombarding her as new thoughts continued to pop up in her head. Eve sighed as she finally saw Caroline and Elena standing next to Caroline's car with her flashers on. A distraction would be good. As Eve parked, she saw Caroline and Elena beginning to argue with one another.

"You're gonna be 70 and in diapers and he's still gonna be smoking hot and you will never have children, Elena!" Eve heard Caroline snap at Elena as she got out of her car. "You are way too maternal to not have children!" Caroline continued sharply, glancing over at Eve. "Back me up, Eve!" Caroline demanded, folding her arms as Eve approached the two fighting girls. Even with just hearing the end of the conversation, Eve knew what Caroline had brought up.

"Not the best person to have this conversation with, Care." Eve shook her head, putting her hands up in defense. "I've never been in love with a human as a vampire. Since I assume that's what the conversation was about." Eve shrugged, looking over at Elena cautiously. Elena looked hurt. Caroline let out a loud groan, throwing her head back angrily.

"Can you just take my side?!" Caroline demanded, her hands balling up as she threw them to her side. "You've been alive for like a billion years! You had a human family once and I bet they're all long dead by now!" Caroline continued to rant angrily. Eve felt her heart nearly skip a beat at how upset Caroline was. Human Caroline would know when to stop pushing…but vampire Caroline…

"I did have a human family, yes, but-" Eve tried to get out before Caroline continued her angry rant.

"Or maybe you can't relate. That stupid hag in New York seemed to think you were some kind of mass murderer. What, did you like, kill your whole family?" Caroline scoffed aloud at her own realization. Eve's chest began to tighten at Caroline's accusations. "Or can you not relate because you've never loved someone who's died?" Caroline questioned harshly. Eve felt her fists begin to ball up. Caroline was a new vampire. Caroline couldn't control her anger. Eve could, but Christ it was becoming more difficult the more Caroline spoke. "Probably not since you've only ever been in love with Damon." Eve took in a deep breath to calm herself down as memories upon memories began playing in her head.

"Caroline, what is wrong with you?" Elena pipped in, taking a step towards Eve while glaring at Caroline. Eve stared at Elena before looking over at Caroline.

"I'm just trying to-"

"Hey there, someone called about a flat tire?" A man from a tow truck hollered out his window. Caroline turned to see the man before looking back at Elena.

"She did." Elena said almost instantly, nodding back at Caroline before turning back to Eve. "Can you take me to Stefan's?" Elena asked, not bothering to look back at Caroline. Eve looked back toward Caroline as well as Caroline tried to talk to the man in the tow truck while trying to pay attention to Eve and Elena. Eve looked back at Elena and nodded, walking over to her car.

"Are you seriously just going to leave me?" Caroline called after Eve and Elena as Eve unlocked her car.

"You wanted to stay with your car, Caroline." Elena shrugged back as she got into the passenger's side. Eve stayed silent, getting into the driver's side. "Seriously, I don't-" Elena got out before Eve shushed her, buckling her seatbelt and beginning to drive. Elena stopped talking for a moment as Eve drove. Eve's knuckles began turning white with the grip she had on the steering wheel.

"Somethin' is goin' on with Caroline." Eve muttered aloud after a few minutes of driving. Elena looked over at her tentatively. Eve didn't mind that Elena was walking on eggshells and actually being quiet. Eve was…pissed.

"So it's definitely not just me then." Elena chimed back, folding her arms irritably. Eve shook her head. "I mean, she's acting a lot different…and I mean, I guess I don't know what it's like to be a vampire, let alone a newly turned vampire, but…" Elena trailed off as her mind seemingly began to race. Eve shook her own head.

"Vampirism only enhances things. Caroline was never like how she's actin' now." Eve added as she tried to keep her cool. "I know what it's like to be a new vampire, but I haven't known Caroline as long as you have…" Eve continued, trying to think of what was going on to make Caroline act so differently.

"You've spent a lot more time with her than I have in the past few months. You only need about a day to understand how Caroline is." Elena snickered aloud. Eve felt her heartache from Elena's sentiment. Emotions were becoming far too stupid to handle. "Maybe Katherine said something to her…" Elena remarked, trailing off. Anger quickly filled Eve's veins. Katherine. Eve hoped Stefan was done asking Katherine questions. She was going to kill the bitch.

Luckily the boarding house wasn't much further. Eve was feeling way too many emotions at once and would happily take her anger out on Katherine. As Eve pulled into the driveway and parked, Elena was already out the door, rushing inside. Eve rolled her eyes and followed. It wasn't like Katherine would be able to get out of that cellar. Eve heard Elena call for Stefan when she walked into the house.

"You must be Elena." Eve stopped when she saw someone walk up behind Elena. Elena turned around quickly.

"How is this possible? How do we look exactly alike?" Elena asked, fearfully.

Eve didn't have to hear anymore. That was Katherine, and Stefan would never willingly let Katherine leave. Eve looked around. She was going to stab Katherine, but there were far fewer things that could be used than Eve would have liked. Eve flittered to the treeline, finding a sharp-looking stick that she hoped wouldn't break before flittering into the house. Eve could feel her heart beating roughly in her chest from the adrenaline as she attempted to stab Katherine. Katherine turned, making the stick only drive a little way into her shoulder rather than her chest. Katherine let out a sharp gasp.

"Elena?!" Stefan flittered into the living room, looking for Elena worriedly. Eve glanced over at Stefan for just a moment. Katherine utilized the distraction, turning around and grabbing hold of Eve before throwing her across the room.

"Ow." Katherine growled, ripping the stick from her shoulder. Eve quickly stood up, not wanting Katherine to have any upper hand. "I have had it up to here with you and your little games." Katherine said, radiating with anger as she began to walk over towards Eve. Eve raised an eyebrow as a smile grew.

"That's rich comin' from the queen of 'games' herself." Eve sassed back, folding her arms. Katherine smiled back before flittering over to Eve, grabbing her by the throat and lifting her off the ground. Eve grabbed Katherine's arm quickly trying to get out of her grasp…but Katherine was older and stronger, and Eve was drunk.

"I thought you'd be nicer to me," Katherine said with a pout, not even flinching as Eve's nails dug into her arm. "Seeing as I have contact with your old friend." Katherine said slowly before smirking. Alistair. Eve kneed Katherine in the ribs, forcing her to let go of Eve and hunch over.

"I want ya dead more den dat shitty Scottish fecker." Eve snarled lowly, her accent coming out a lot thicker than it normally would as she grabbed Katherine's hair and forced her to look up at her. Katherine's smug attitude disappeared as she glared back at Eve.

"Bold words from someone always on the run." Katherine sneered, grabbing hold of Eve's wrist of the hand that held onto Katherine's hair, twisting it quickly and forcing it behind Eve's back.

"Pot and kettle, Kathy." Eve snickered, turning herself around quickly, shoving Katherine back. Katherine's brows furrowed in confusion as she stumbled but stayed upright. "As much as it pains me ta say it, we have a lot in common. Strange how we're not friends." Eve taunted as Katherine fixed her hair. Katherine let out an abrupt laugh.

"Sleeping with the same guy isn't a lot in common." Katherine shot back. Now it was Eve's turn to furrow her brows in confusion.

"If you really have been keepin' track of the Salvatore's, then you'd know I've never slept with either of them." Eve stated sternly, shaking her head, flittering closer to Katherine only for Katherine to flitter where Eve had just been standing. Katherine only chuckled back, grinning as if she knew something Eve didn't, but Eve ignored her. "No, I was more thinkin' how we both had to run away from someone who inevitably killed our whole family." Eve shrugged casually as Katherine's grin faded and Eve's appeared.

Damon had told Eve Katherine's whole life story from the beginning of her time as a vampire. He practically had it spilling out of his mouth the first opportunity he had when she asked about his own journey into becoming a vampire. Eve remembered, and if she had to remember her own family dying at the hands of a vengeful vampire, so would Katherine…Even if it made Eve sick to think she and Katherine had anything in common. Eve couldn't react fast enough as Katherine flittered back over to her, reaching her hand and grabbing her heart. Eve's playful demeanor was gone as Katherine held her life in her hand.

"Katherine stop!" Stefan. Eve couldn't take her eyes off of Katherine, even as Katherine looked to where Stefan's voice came from and smiled.

"You know, I finally see why Damon fell in love with you," Katherine remarked casually, turning her attention back to Eve to watch as she stood frozen. Katherine smirked, feeling Eve's heart race in her hand by just the sentiment. "I was always so curious…what about you could he possibly like?" Katherine pondered aloud, tapping her finger to her chin. "But it all makes sense. We're two sides of the same coin, kettle." Katherine cooed back with an affectionate nickname, squeezing Eve's heart, making Eve let out a gasp as she tried to keep herself from shaking. Katherine let go of Eve's heart, pulling her hand out from Eve's chest before shoving her backward roughly. Eve stumbled, falling onto her back before she sucked in air, holding her chest and feeling her body begin to repair itself slowly. Fuck she needed a drink. Katherine walked over to her, cocking her head slightly as she looked down at Eve.

"Katherine, that's enough." Stefan snapped loudly. Eve was able to look over to see that Stefan was taking a step away from Elena who looked terrified. Katherine rolled her eyes back at him. Eve glanced around near her. Katherine had thrown her near the fireplace…Eve saw the sharp poker…

"You're no fun, Stefan." Katherine scoffed. "Besides, I'm not about to get on the bad side of Duquesne. He's a vengeful bastar-" Eve did her best to flitter over and grab the poker before flittering over and stabbing Katherine in the stomach. It wasn't the heart, but Eve was just happy to hear Katherine cry out in pain again. "You sneaky bitch!" Katherine snapped, shoving Eve back roughly. Eve hit the wall hard but kept herself from making a noise. Well, she did make a noise, but it was a laugh.

"Eve!" Stefan called, but Katherine had already flittered over to Eve, sinking her thumbs into Eve's eyes. Eve wasn't laughing anymore.

"Listen here, you pathetic little leach," Katherine snarled into Eve's ear softly. "The only reason I haven't ripped out that pathetic little heart of yours is because of Alistair. I owe him, and I'm using your life as my debt repaid." Katherine continued, finally pulling her thumbs from Eve's eyes. Eve hissed in pain, trying to keep her back against the wall to keep herself oriented. Eve heard Katherine grunt before metal clanked against the ground near Eve…and then a chuckle. "Maybe you're right about us…See you around, kettle." Katherine murmured almost affectionately. Eve leaned her head against the wall, jumping when someone touched her shoulder.

"Hey, it's okay, it's me." Stefan said quickly, concern lacing his voice. Eve let out an annoyed groan.

"Feckin' hell, this hurts." Eve grumbled, rubbing her eyes the best she could. Stefan grabbed her hands to keep her from hurting herself further.

"Yeah, well, you just had your eyes gouged out and your heart nearly ripped from your chest." Stefan muttered back irritably. Eve couldn't help the laugh that slipped from her mouth.

"Call your brother and tell him I hate Katherine." Eve chuckled, still in an incredible amount of pain. Eve could practically hear Stefan rolling his eyes back at her.

"You're a nightmare, do you know that?" Stefan sighed, letting go of Eve's shoulder. Eve heard footsteps approaching as she giggled from Stefan's grumpy comment. "Elena's going to watch you for a second. I'm going to the basement to get you some blood." Stefan explained as a smaller hand touched where Stefan's hand had been.

"And call?" Eve asked, hearing Stefan begin to walk away quickly. Stefan breathed out a sigh. Eve snickered. She didn't feel great, but she had to pretend. Elena's hand was shaking as she held Eve's arm. "I'm not dead, ya know." Eve teased gently towards Elena. Elena sighed similar to how Stefan had. Eve couldn't help but chuckle. "I'm not sure what Caroline had said to you earlier before I arrived, but I wouldn't worry too much about it." Eve mused aloud. "Some people are made fer each other, and never have I heard two people sigh in the same, judgy way. It's fate." Eve continued, feeling Elena's shaking slowly stop before Elena chuckled softly.

"Listen, I don't know what's happening with Caroline, but…I'm sorry I didn't say anything earlier." Eve attempted to furrow her brows but winced from the pain.

"What could you have said? Caroline's still learnin' all the vampire perks and one of them is learning how to handle her newer and stronger emotions." Eve shrugged before taking a deep breath. Her chest hurt and her eyes hurt and life was stressful and stupid.

"Here." Eve nearly choked on air when she heard Stefan's voice so close.

"Christ, Stef, we're tryin' ta avoid me dyin' here!" Eve snapped as Stefan placed what felt like a blood bag into her hands. Stefan scoffed back.

"Yeah, well, you getting your eyes gouged out could have been avoided." Stefan chastised sternly. Eve would have rolled her eyes if she could have. Eve instead just stuck her tongue out, feeling the bag before putting the port in her mouth and sucking some of the blood from the bag out. "Can you get up?" Stefan asked a little more gently, still trying to give off the impression that he was upset with her.

"It's me eyes that are fecked, not me legs." Eve sassed back, continuing to drink the blood from the bag. Stefan huffed out.

"Elena and I are going to help you to the couch." Stefan stated aloud. Eve only nodded. Stefan and Elena's hands grabbed Eve's upper arm on each side, helping her to her feet as softly as they could, obviously trying not to hurt Eve any more than she already was. Eve let the two help her walk before they began to lower her to indicate that she could sit. Eve sat on the couch before she continued drinking from the blood bag. The couch was nicer than the floor, but being able to see would be even better. "Is there a reason you were antagonizing Katherine?" Stefan asked, sounding like he was still standing in front of her.

"I hate her?" Eve muttered aloud. The silence in the room was deafening. Tough crowd. "Did you expect me to be rational?" Eve snorted back, leaning back into the couch casually. Eve was beginning to be able to see light, but not objects or figures.

"I…I don't know what to expect from you, Eve." Stefan admitted, obviously irritated with Eve's nonchalant tone. "I mean, I knew you would try and stab her, but I didn't expect…" Stefan trailed off, trying to sound nice. Eve snickered back at him.

"You didn't expect me to be a dick?" Eve inquired, smirking at Stefan, wherever he was. To Eve's surprise, Elena laughed. Eve tried to furrow her brows but sucked in a breath from the pain it caused.

"It's just…It's such a Damon thing to say." Elena explained aloud, answering Eve's silent confusion. Eve wanted to roll her eyes. Of course it was a Damon thing to say, the two were friends and friends picked up things from the other…"It's like you said," Elena began, probably looking over to Stefan with how her voice's cadence softened. "Some people are made for each other." Eve groaned but muffled the irritation by drinking more from the blood bag. Not what she needed to hear. Eve wished her eardrums had been blown out instead of her eyes being gouged out.

The night just kept getting worse and worse for Damon. As much as he wanted to rush over to be at Eve's side, the moment he got to the bridge, Alaric had called and said that Mason was going to the Grill. Damon had to make a decision. Either he goes to the boarding house and sees Evie hurt and gets more pissed, or he goes to the Grill and stabs Mason with the silver knife Damon still had on him. If Damon was right, Eve's eyes wouldn't be healed anyway by the time he arrived…and he did want to stab Mason Lockwood…

Damon waited in the parking lot. Mason wouldn't expect Damon to be at the Grill, so he would have an element of surprise on him, which seemed important. Damon had seen how easily Mason had won against Stefan in an arm-wrestling match, as well as blinding fury when the stupid little werewolf tried against Eve, calling her his nickname for her. Damon's blood continued to boil. Fuck, had he always been this jealous when it came to his Evie?

Had he always referred to her as his? Damon only noticed the possessive words when he stumbled over them when talking with Mason. Damon rubbed his face. He was stupid and jealous and he missed his Evie. Soon, Damon caught sight of Mason's old jeep as it pulled into a parking spot. Damon slowly began walking toward the man as he walked towards the Grill.

"Damon?" Mason asked, continuing to walk toward Damon. "What? More dog jokes?" Mason sassed back.

"No, those got old." Damon shrugged, stabbing Mason in the chest. Mason doubled over as Damon walked past him, looking into the jeep's trunk curiously and opening it up to look further.

"You know," Damon froze for a moment, turning around to see Mason pull the silver knife from his chest. "I think it was werewolves who started this whole silver myth." Mason stated seriously, tossing the knife to the ground. "Probably for times like this; when ex-boyfriends get jealous." Mason shrugged casually, walking over at closing his trunk's door, ignoring Damon's glare.

"For the record, Evie and I have never dated." Damon sassed back sharply, watching Mason as he rubbed where he had been stabbed.

"Yeah, I kind of figured." Mason shot back, walking back towards Damon. Damon stood his ground but unintentionally scoffed at the man's words. Mason only chuckled lowly. "I'm not about to explain to the desperate loser of either girl I'm sleeping with why I don't think you and her would have ever worked out." Mason sassed pointedly, standing face to face with Damon. Damon felt his fists ball up tightly. Desperate? If he was so desperate, he would have already been with Eve. Mason looked at his shirt again before shaking his head. "You know, I was really looking forward to last call…but now you made an enemy." Mason grumbled, looking towards the Grill before staring back at Damon before turning and getting back into his jeep.

Damon kept his mouth shut tightly as he watched Mason drive away, both men glaring at the other. Damon needed to watch himself. Mason was a werewolf after all…and a werewolf bite could be deadly to vampires. Did Mason know that one of Damon's actual ex-girlfriends was out and gouging out and nearly ripping the heart of the most amazing and wonderful woman? Had Eve asked Stefan to call Mason?

Damon ran a frustrated hand through his hair before heading to the Grill. He needed a drink from the night…and as much as he wanted to see Eve, something stopped him. Maybe it was Mason, maybe it was just the fear of blurting out his whole heart to Eve on the spot fully and without pausing or cutting out anything like he had…so many times before… Damon didn't know and wasn't about to figure that out at the moment. He would need a strong drink before he ever let any of his emotions slip up…

When Damon entered the Grill, it was dwindling down. It was last call, and luckily for Damon, he didn't miss it. Not like he couldn't just compel the bartender to make an exception for him. Damon made his way to the bar quickly, sitting down in his usual spot. Without even asking, the bartender handed him a glass of brown liquid. Damon chuckled to himself. He was spending too much time at that bar top. The absence of Alaric was a strange feeling, as the stool beside his right was usually occupied by the teacher. The left side also felt like it was missing someone, but Damon ignored both his longing and lonely feelings as he drank his bourbon in silence. After a while, Damon heard the familiar voice of Stefan. Damon quickly turned and looked to see where his brother was.

"I'm starving." Stefan said as he walked up to Elena and moved them to a booth. Damon stared at the two curiously.

"Well, spending the day with your jealous ex will do that to you." Elena sassed back sounding genuinely angry as she sat beside him. Damon's brows furrowed as he listened to the conversation.

"Listen, I know you're upset, but we have to take her seriously." Stefan said, folding his arms and shaking his head. "Today was all about the lengths she would go to." Stefan said seriously. Damon's brow raised slightly. Were these two…acting?

"If she was going to hurt me, she would have." Elena said back sternly, shaking her head. "I was standing right in front of her." Elena gestured in front of herself. Oh, they were for sure acting. Elena wasn't that confident when it came to Katherine.

"Elena, you caught her off guard. It doesn't mean that you're safe." Stefan shot back quickly, but Elena was still standing strong.

"I'm not afraid of her." Damon sipped his bourbon.

"Well, you should be." Stefan muttered back. "You saw what happened tonight."

"If Katherine had her way, we'd be breaking up right now." Elena grumbled. Damon smirked. These two knew people were listening. A few days ago, Damon would be over the moon to be hearing the conversation. The possibility of Stefan and Elena actually breaking up would have made Damon think his chances with Elena would have skyrocketed…but now…Damon was just invested in their little act.

"If today taught me anything, it's that Katherine is used to getting her way." Stefan said, still playing his stern role.

"You're not actually saying that we should do what she says." Elena scoffed back.

"Listen, she's sadistic, okay? She threatened you, she threatened everyone. You saw what she did to Eve." Damon's heart fluttered anxiously for a moment. He had been so caught up in the apparent drama of Stefan and Elena's life that he shoved Eve to the back of his mind.

"Yeah, no, I get it, she's dangerous. But every day that we are together, it's dangerous. Why are you giving her so much power over our relationship?" Elena asked pointedly, folding her arms with a huff. Damon looked around the bar. Was she here?

"This is the reality of our situation." Stefan shrugged back. Stefan wouldn't just leave Eve on her own if her eyes were gone…would he?

"Well, reality sucks." Elena mumbled back. Damon looked and saw Caroline also focused on Elena and Stefan's situation. Damon looked around Caroline. No Eve… "This is what she wants. She wants us to fight. She wants to get between us." Elena continued.

"She already has, Elena." Stefan muttered back, but Damon was already getting up from his seat. The show was over and Damon had better places to be.

If Eve wasn't with either Stefan, Elena, or Caroline, she was alone, which didn't seem smart. True, if Katherine had wanted her dead, she would have killed Eve when she apparently grabbed her heart. Damon's blood boiled for a moment. How dare Katherine touch Eve. Sure, Eve had stabbed Katherine, from what Stefan had told him, twice, but that didn't mean Katherine had any right to hurt his Evie. Damon left the bar and began walking to his car when Katherine appeared, leaning against the building.

"Bad day?" Katherine asked, stopping Damon.

"Bad century." Damon grumbled back, looking at the woman, annoyed with her presence. "I heard you were on the loose." Damon muttered. "And that you nearly killed Evie." Damon snapped back, folding his arms.

"What's the matter? Jealous I got closer to that little Irish girl's heart than you ever have?" Katherine shot back quickly. Damon rolled his eyes back at her.

"I don't do jealous." Damon said, shaking his head, irritated that his anger was slowly returning. It should have been instant. Even now, Katherine still had a chokehold on him. "Not with you; not anymore." Damon corrected himself, beginning to walk away from her. Katherine scoffed out a laugh.

"Oh that's right, you only get jealous of your little kettle." Katherine taunted, following him as he walked. Damon stopped for a moment, turning and furrowing her brows at him. "That's my loving little nickname for your little crush." Katherine continued to taunt.

"Is there a reason you won't call her by her name or would that give her some kind of power over you?" Damon sassed, folding his arms. Katherine rolled her eyes. "It's been a while since we've caught up. I used to know everything about you." Damon said sarcastically, shaking his head. Katherine chuckled.

"I suppose we were close." Katherine cooed back, taking a step towards Damon. "That little Irish kettle," Katherine began before Damon interrupted.

"Eve." Damon corrected as Katherine took another step closer, touching his chest with a single finger.

"Knew about my past to an ungodly depth that only you would have known about." Katherine continued, ignoring Damon's attempt to get Katherine to say Eve's name.

"It's almost like I was in love with you." Damon snickered back as Katherine's finger began to trace up and down his sternum.

"Enough to tell my whole life story to any red-haired bimbo you meet?" Katherine spat back with a deadly smirk. "Come on Damon, you sound desperate." Damon let out a laugh.

"Coming from the woman who watched both Stefan and me for 145 years without our knowledge just to stay up to date with us." Damon chuckled back. "And if Eve really was just some 'red-haired bimbo', I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have been able to tell your little lackeys about her past." Damon continued, taking a step back so that her finger would stop touching him. "Listen, I'd love to stay and chat about this with you, but I actually don't want to." Damon stated firmly, watching as Katherine slowly glared at him for probably a million different reasons. "I tried to kill a werewolf and failed. You tried to kill my best friend and failed. I'm going to go back to the boarding house and celebrate both a loss and a victory." Damon muttered, beginning to walk away from Katherine again.

"Werewolves aren't easy prey." Katherine chimed after him, but Damon shook his head.

"And neither is Evie." Damon shrugged, continuing to walk away. As much as he wanted to pry into what Katherine had meant, Damon…didn't care what Katherine had to say. Not at the moment, at least. Eve had a tendency to do stupid things when she was alone…or when she was with people. Eve was just stupid. Damon felt his heart flutter anxiously as he walked to his car. He was in love with an idiot.

Eve was tired. There were too many things going on, and with nearly having her heart ripped out, as well as her eyes gouged out, Eve was not about to go to the Grill with Stefan and Elena to watch them act like they were beginning to actually fight. Eve's hearing was even more intense with her eyes having to slowly grow back, and no matter how quiet Elena and Stefan whispered about their whole master plan, Eve could hear it. They had to fool Katherine into believing they were actually fighting and getting close to breaking up to fool Caroline who most likely was being threatened by Katherine. Eve wished she could have had more time to prepare when it came to stabbing Katherine. Eve would have definitely gone for the heart if she had the chance…and not been so drunk.

Caroline had been acting weird, but Eve had been too preoccupied with sleeping with Mason to connect the dots that led to Katherine. Eve felt awful. Out of all the times Eve could find someone to try and distract herself from Damon, it just had to be a time when Caroline, the person who would be the proudest, was being manipulated by Katherine. It made sense and Eve was upset with herself for not being able to see it sooner. Eve hadn't even gotten much information out of Mason. Maybe Damon was able to get more information when Eve left to help Caroline. No one was texting her…and even if they were, she was just barely getting her sight back. She had nearly fallen down the stairs to the basement while trying to get another blood bag for herself.

Eve sighed as she sat in the quiet of the boarding house. Today was stupid. Yesterday was stupid. All the days were becoming stupid…but Caroline hadn't adjusted to being a vampire yet, and the whole werewolves existing thing was also a problem that had come up and just…Mystic Falls had a way of creating drama, and now Eve was stuck in the middle of it. Eve shut her eyes and slumped lower into the couch, placing her third empty blood bag on the coffee table in front of her. Resting her eyes wouldn't be too bad. They had only just grown back, after all…

The door of the boarding house opened and Eve sat up a little, trying to see who was coming in. Maybe it was Stefan coming back from his little theatre act. Or maybe it was Damon coming back from most likely tormenting Mason. Eve rubbed her eyes as the world continued to look a little fuzzy. Maybe she had fallen asleep. Eve yawned as the door shut roughly. Eve stared at the door but didn't see anyone come in, or hear anyone come in. Even if her eyes weren't fully healed, Eve could still hear things. Eve stretched before standing up and walking over to the door. It wasn't windy. When Eve went to grab the door handle, someone grabbed her shoulder. Eve tensed, turning around slowly.

"Sneakin' up on a lady isn't very-" Eve got out before freezing. Alistair."Ye haven't forgotten about me, have ye?" His Scottish accent was thicker than Eve had remembered it to be. Eve took a step back from the tall, burly man. "I told a few differen' people tae tell ye I would come and visi' ye." Alistair tutted, taking a step closer to Eve. Eve took another step back. "I see ye made a friend er two. And I though' I'd killed the las' humans of yers." Alistair chuckled darkly, finally making Eve stand up straight."If you even think about touchin' them…" Eve snarled back feeling a shiver run up her spine as Alistair continued to get closer with each step. Alistair only laughed at Eve's sentiment."Ye'll wha'? I killed yer whole family in less than two minutes, do ye really think it would take me more than that to kill yer preciously little Caroline?" Eve's jaw tightened as Alistair stopped walking. "Or would ye rather I go for Damon?" Eve felt her heart flutter anxiously in her chest. "I think I've waited long enough." Alistair shrugged, walking around Eve, only a few steps away from her. Eve turned with him, not wanting to have her back towards the man. "It would be a shame if one was withou' the other…heartbreaking even." Alistair continued, glancing back at Eve with a smirk. "True, ye both may know what heartbreak is like, but could either of ye truly live if the other were gone?" Alistair continued to taunt casually. "Would life be worth living? What was poor Romeo withou' his Juliet?" Alistair pondered aloud as the two stood on top of a bloody scene.

Eve looked around, recognizing the carnage around her. April 1st, 1960. Her mother's decapitated head, forever frozen with fear as the last thing she saw was Eve walking up onto the rooftop patio. Family members Eve had only ever heard stories of, dead on the ground in a pool of blood that could never be distinguished whose was whose. Her brother's greying hair and defiant green eyes shone only a moment before the life left them as Alistair snapped his neck. Eve couldn't breathe as she looked at and remembered the scene.

It was supposed to be a simple and easy day. She would get to see her whole family together, possibly for the last time due to her mother's declining health as well as old age. It turned out to be the last day she would see any of them alive. Eve heard the familiar grunting and groaning behind her. Eve remembered hearing Aidan struggle against Alistair's hold. Eve turned around, still overwhelmed by the smell of blood and dead family members around her. Eve could barely gasp as she saw Alistair holding

Damon's head in a chokehold."Don't!" Eve screamed, finally finding her voice as she tried to run towards the two, but everything felt slow. "Don't hurt him, please, I'll do whatever ya want!" Eve begged the same words she had for Aidan as she tried to get to him in time, but Alistair had already moved behind her."Family for family, Evie." The voice wasn't Alistair's."Don't hurt him, please, he's me best friend, please, please, please don't hurt Damon." Eve pleaded, feeling her throat nearly closing on her as she choked on the words."Evie! Evie, it's okay! You're safe!" Eve's eyes shot open before she began to thrash around, trying to keep everything away from her before she felt her fist connect to something. "Ouch! Eve, it's me!" Eve continued to hyperventilate as two arms grabbed her to keep her from flaring. "Evelyn, it's me, it's Damon, you're safe!" Damon. Eve blinked rapidly, looking around at her surroundings as she realized that she wasn't in Boston. It wasn't 1960. Her family was still dead and had been for almost 50 years. Eve slowed her breathing down as she looked at Damon who was staring at her with worried eyes.

"Christ, Day, I-I'm sorry, I didn't-" Eve began to stutter out, trying to calm her rapidly beating heart. Damon only shook his head, lightening his grip on her arms before he wrapped his arm around Eve and led her back to the couch. Eve hadn't even realized that she had gotten up.

"No, it's okay, you don't have to apologize for anything." Damon reassured, shaking his head, sitting Eve back on the couch. "I'm just glad you're okay." Damon sighed and cupped her face gently before pulling away, looking at the coffee table littered with blood bags before picking one up and inspecting it. "That's why." Damon said aloud, shaking the bag back at Eve. Eve raised an eyebrow as she took the empty blood bag from him and scanned the information on the bag. "They're expired." Damon explained after Eve looked up at Damon for an explanation.

"Oh good, I was thinkin' I would have to change me diet." Eve chuckled, tossing the bag back onto the table before leaning back into the couch. Damon chuckled, smirking back at Eve.

"You gonna start hunting Bambi with Stefan and Blondie?" Damon teased, folding his arms. Eve scoffed, gently kicking his shin. Damon dramatically fell onto the couch, practically laying across Eve's lap. Eve let out a groan before laughing.

"Get off of me, ya prick!" Eve snorted as she tried to shove Damon off of her.

"How am I supposed to go on? My legs are broken. You've shattered my bones." Damon groaned, tossing a hand over his eyes. Eve continued to laugh at his behavior, looking down at him and shaking her head.

"So melodramatic, Day." Eve mumbled and yawned, brushing his hair from his forehead. Eve froze instantly feeling Damon gently lean into her hand. "Where's the lecture?" Eve asked, pulling her hand back, and folding her arms. Damon tensed at the action before he moved his hand from his eyes.

"About which topic, because I have a list." Damon grumbled, not bothering to sit up, but folding his own arms back at her. Eve raised an eyebrow down at him, nearly smiling at him.

"Let's go from most damnin' to least damnin'." Eve shrugged with a snicker. Damon let out a huff as he sat up, adjusting himself on the couch so he was facing Eve.

"Alright. Katherine." Damon began, making Eve moan back irritably.

"What's there to talk about? I hate her, I stabbed her, she stabbed me, I stabbed her again, and she gouged out me eyes." Eve rattled the list of events off casually, leaning back into the couch even further to pout. Damon rolled his eyes.

"And she nearly ripped your heart out." Damon added with an annoyed huff. "You could have easily avoided the whole situation if you hadn't stabbed her, to begin with." Damon snapped back sharply. Eve scoffed, but Damon didn't let her interrupt. "Next, you're now having nightmares about Alistair." Damon continued. Eve tensed up. "And don't even try and say you're not. As much as I want to believe you're having good dreams about me, pleading to an invisible person not to kill me doesn't sound very sexy." Damon said seriously. Eve once again tried to interrupt with a simple look to get Damon to remain serious, but Damon was on his own little roll. "And that dog of a boyfriend of yours-" Damon began to sneer out before Eve finally stopped him.

"Damon." She grumbled in a stern tone.

"He's the one who attacked you. Who nearly killed you the other night and I'm still not okay with that.." Damon continued, ignoring her saying his name so sternly. "That and the fact that he's sleeping with someone else besides you has severely pissed me off." Eve sat up a little and looked at him.

"Wait…Wait, what?" Eve asked, furrowing her brows.

"He's sleeping with someone else." Damon said casually. "Why do you think he's a dog?" Damon sassed a little more snarkily and all the reasons he and Eve were having issues came back and made her chest hurt.

"Damon, that's not funny." Eve growled under her breath. Damon looked at her and frowned.

"Evie, I'm not lying to you. He told me himself after you left to go help Caroline." Damon huffed in irritation. Eve's jaw clenched as she got up from the couch. Damon was right beside her, but Eve waved him off. "Eve, come on, just sit and relax-" Damon got out before Eve swatted his assistants away.

"My drunken haze has worn off and I'm not in the mood. Caroline is acting like a psycho and now not only is the man I'm sleepin' with a werewolf, but he's supposedly sleeping with someone else? I'm done fer the night." Eve muttered irritably as she rubbed her temples and began to leave.

"Evie, seriously, why would I lie about something like that?" Damon growled back as he followed after her.

"Oh, I don't know, Damon, maybe because you've been bein' a complete dickhead to him all day?" Eve snarled back as she continued walking out of the library.

"Well, yeah I've been a dick to him all day. How's that surprising?" Damon scoffed out a laugh despite sounding irritated with her as they walked down the hallways of the house. "Listen, I don't handle this…this jealousy thing very well-" Eve couldn't help but snort out a laugh that Damon ignored as he continued. "But I'm not about to have some beach bum loser make you look like a fool." Damon chided as the two walked up the stairs. Eve rolled her newly healed eyes.

"Oh, but a blue eyed, dark haired vampire can?" She sassed him back, turning and looking down at him, which was always an odd sensation with their height differences. Damon clicked his tongue at her and rolled his eyes now.

"Evie, do you even believe-" Damon got out before he looked up at her and froze. Eve looked back down at him and slowly furrowed her brows.

"What?" Eve asked after a moment of Damon only looking up at her. She could see him biting his tongue.

"Nothing." He muttered and shook his head. "It's nothing. Nevermind, Evie." He stepped around her. Eve's brows furrowed even more as she watched him walk up the rest of the stairs. Eve followed behind him hesitantly. Once they were at the top, he turned back to her. "Just…be careful." He said seriously with a frown before going to his room. Eve's chest hurt even more, but she shoved it down.

As she got into her room, she sighed and laid down on the bed. The buzz of her phone kept her from spiraling in concerning thoughts. Except the missed text was from Caroline and her worry refocused onto the newly turned neurotic control freak of a friend.

Caroline: sry abt 2day…been hard.

Eve sighed softly. She understood. Being a newly turned vampire wasn't easy and there were a lot more hard days in the very beginning. At least Caroline had multiple people to help her out. Eve's mind wandered back to Damon and his stupidly sad puppy dog eyes.

Eve: I get it. Some days it sucks, but you've got this 3

Eve then looked at her unread message and felt her heart flutter.

Mason: You free tomorrow baby?

Even with Damon saying Mason was sleeping with someone else…Eve still felt a slight flutter in her stomach. And also with all the other werewolf bullshit things…Christ, she was a fucking idiot.

Eve: What? Another fun filled barbeque where we drink a little too much and I have to leave early to help with a flat tire and drama?

Eve sent the snarky reply and snickered to herself softly before she got up and began getting ready for bed. To her surprise, she heard her phone ring as she had only just tossed her dress in her hamper. Eve walked over and answered without looking at the caller id.

"Hello?" She answered.

"Hey baby girl." Mason's voice purred back causing the same fluttering of butterflies in her stomach. "I catch you at a bad time?" He asked. Eve snickered.

"Well, I'm only in my underwear." Eve said as she put the phone between her shoulder and ear as she walked over to her dresser. Mason whistled from his end.

"Damn. Wish you were here." Mason grumbled. Eve heard the slight pain in his voice.

"You alright?" She asked curiously as she looked into her dresser for a shirt to wear. Mason sighed.

"Mighta gotten into a bit of a bar fight." Mason mumbled and hissed. "May have gotten stabbed in said bar fight too." He continued.

"What?!" Eve snapped. Mason let out a small chuckle.

"Easy, baby, I already went to the hospital and I'm already cleared and back home." Mason chided back softly. "I mean, would a truly hurt man still imagine you sitting happy and bouncing on my-"

"Mason." Eve warned, despite the burning in her cheeks. Mason snickered.

"Alright, alright, I'll save the dirty talk for when you're within physical grabbing distance." Mason said in a playfully defeated tone. "Anyway baby, no, it's not a barbeque or a bar fight. There's this…Historic volunteer day…or something tomorrow." Mason said with a yawn. "Be the pretty girl on my arm?"

"Isn't the point of volunteering to actually help out?" Eve sassed back making Mason chuckle.

"Fair enough. I'll pick you up at around 10:30. We can grab a coffee and actually get to drink it instead of fucking in the alley." Mason suggested casually making Eve snort out a laugh.

"Sounds good. Get some rest, May." Eve yawned and felt her whole body freeze at the nickname that slipped from her tongue. A silence followed before a chuckle was heard.

"Will do, Evie." The silence of the call ending left a pit in Eve's stomach.
