Sona Sitri was many things, rich intelligent, serious, the stupid council president, a devil, a princess in all but name, and most importantly an absolute beast at chess... her sister's words of course. But right now there was only one thing that she was... and that was frustrated.
Why would someone like her be frustrated you ask?
Good question.
The reason for her frustrations was one man... or rather one student, of whom hadn't shown up for any of his classes and still somehow managed to pass every single one of them with high marks!
Now she understood that he had responsibilities outside of school to be able to fend for himself... but a good education was also just as important as money, if not more so!
What was the name if this student you ask? Another good question!
Sona glared down at the file that sat on her desk, the business on file that he works for on full display for her to see. As she read it over and over she couldn't help but to wonder.
"What kind of business calls themselves-"
"Devil May Cry! Sorry my schedule is a little busy at the moment. Could you please hold for just a sec?" A 17 almost 18 year old Cassius said into his cell phone as he lazily dodged a swipe from behind from the stray devil that was his quarry for this job.
"Hssss! Hold! Still! Human!" the devil hissed at him, punctuating each word with another swipe of its clawed fingers, each he dodged with total ease.
"Now why would I do that?" Cassius drawled with a bored expression.
The devil he'd been tasked to hunt was a reincarnated devil who had died during a vampire attack and was bitten. The idiot pureblooded devil that resurrected him didn't realize that he'd been bitten and was in the process of becoming a vampire.
You see, apparently being a full-blooded vampire doesn't mix well with the evil pieces that modern devils use to reincarnate humans and the result? Well the result woke up from its vampirism induced nap and was very thirsty after its double reincarnation.
It's appearance was mostly that of a quadrapedal bat's, but was around the size of an elephant, with long viper fangs, and a pair of long horns.
Cassius thought they were fitting considering the devil that tried to reincarnate him was from the Botis family, whose ancestor was depicted as a viper, or a man with large teeth and two long horns.
The point however... was that Cassius had been called because this devil-vampire hybrid had gone berserk and that resulted in a remote farming town in the lower regions of Germany being ravaged and its occupants becoming thralls to the creature's will.
Cassius had already dealt with the thralls and now all that remained was the Demonic Vampire.
"Speaking of!" Cassius thought as he dodged one last attack from the creature, before summoning a familiar white handgun, into his human hand.
Ivory rested between the hybrid's stunned eyes.
"W-wait- (*Bang!*)"
The hybrid's head exploded in gore, it's body twitched for several seconds before it slumped to the dirt.
Smoke vented out of Ivory's barrel as he raised it to his lips and blew.
"Much better." He said before dismissing the handgun that was recreated through the use of his second sacred gear.
"Thank you for holding. How may I-" He paused at who was on the other end of the phone.
"Vali? What's up? Everything alright?" He asked the other white-haired half-devil under the care of Azazel.
As he listened to the other teen, his eyes narrowed at what he'd heard.
"So Asia's transfer has been finalized? She's really going to be assigned to that abandoned church?" Cassius asked, already knowing the answer.
"Alright... when?" he asked again.
"A week?!" Cassius exclaimed in surprise. He hadn't realized just how fast the start of the canon timeline had snuck up on him.
"Yeah yeah sorry." Cassius rolled his eyes at what Vali had apparently said.
"Yeah I got a place there. Got it the second I heard Asia might be transferred there." He informed the other devil.
"I just finished up. I got paid up front for this so there's not much stopping me from taking a plane-" he was interrupted by Vali shouting something over the phone.
"You know how I feel about teleporting! Ugh fine! I'll use the damn portals! There. Happy?" Cassius shouted back, hanging up the phone before snapping his demonic fingers.
La Muerte opened a swirling black circle in space and he walked through, reappearing in the middle of an office area decorated with various weapons and objects on wall displays.
He'd asked Azazel to set the place up to be almost identical to the Devil May Cry office, complete with an upstairs living space with more than enough rooms for him and several others.
"Nevan I'm back!" he called out into the office, his voice echoed back for a few seconds before a door opened somewhere in the office and out walked the red haired vampiress herself, with a distinctive lack of green skin, in an extremely tight white button up shirt (which was partially unbottoned to reveal her black bikini top) and an equally tight miniskirt, and heels.
"Welcome home Lover." She sauntered over to him and planted a deep kiss on his lips.
When she broke the kiss he stood there stunned for several seconds before comically shaking his head to clear the cobwebs.
"Remind me again why you keep going that?" He asked her.
"Oh lover... do I really need to spell it out for you everytime?" she mock pouted with a sly wink.
"Right..." Cassius trailed off.
It had only been a few months since Cassius had discovered that he could shift his Devil Arms in the demons they were made from... with the exception of Satanael and Hollow S. Jack, the later because because it had its own unique form, but damn was he annoying. Satanael didn't seem to have its own self.
But for the most part he only had Nevan out and about, acting as his secretary of sorts... however the second the vampire regained a human form she had practically pounced on him.
That night was uh... exciting to say the least.
"Anything happen while I was gone?" he asked her.
Neven tilted her head and tapped her lips with a finger as if in thought.
"Well not really, although of strange people calling themselves the hero faction came to see you." she said.
He tensed at that.
"Did they have the password?" he asked her.
She shook her head negatively.
"Then it's likely about recruiting. Tell them I'm not interested." Cassius said as he stripped off La Muerte and hung it on the hook behind his desk, which he then sat on and booted up his computer moniter, which was connected to a game console below the desk.
Grabbing his controller he began playing where he'd left off on Dark Souls III when Nevan spoke up again.
"Oh now that I think about it... you did get a call from the school. From a miss Souna Shitori I believe." she said with a coy smile.
His fingers froze just as he entered the boss room of the old demon king and as a result... died from a fiery blast to the face.
As he stared at the usual mocking You Died screen that was typical of Soulsborne games, he turned his head slowly to meet Nevan's eyes.
"Why? She knows I, as an orphan with a little sister, have to work." Cassius said with a bit of nervousness.
"Well she seems to think you're working too much and has requested a meeting with both you... and your employer..." Nevan said with amusement.
"... Shit... I'm my employer." He cursed.
"Don't worry I have already taken the necessary steps to solve this issue." She said.
"And that is?" he asked, dreading the answer.
"Simple. You're taking paid time off." She said lovingly.
"Eh?" he blinked confused.
"You're taking time off work to focus on school, it's your last year anyways so why not take a break from working to just relax?" she said not planning to take no for an answer.
"And what about any jobs that need done?" He asked her with a raised brow.
"Oh well if it's potentially world ending then obviously you have to go but I'll judge the severity of the jobs and if they aren't important enough to call you out of school then I'll send them so someone who's available." she explained.
"Yeah because there's a lot of devil hunters besides me out there..." Cassius deadpanned.
Nevan paused having not thought of that.
"Shit... you're screwed then lover." she said with pity.
Cassius just shrugged.
"Probably, but I think it's time to put my foot down with this chick anyways. Rich girl needs to learn that education isn't everything, sometimes money and having a place to sleep is more important than books." He said before returning to his game.
Nevan sauntered up to sit on his lap and lovingly stroke his face.
"Come now lover... It's been a week since we last saw each other. Why don't we... have a little fun." She whispered into his ear.
Once again Cassius froze midboss and died.
"Yeah...that sounds like it could be fun..." he said before abruptly scooping her and left the office in favor of the upstairs living space.
The next day found Cassius walking through the front gates of Kuoh academy, wearing the school uniform unfortunately, but hey, he did have his usual gear stored in his inventory, Nevan included as she wanted to come along and watch the fireworks.
Almost immediately he found himself practically assaulted by whispers from the female student body and much of the males but for different reasons.
"Who's that?"
"Who cares! He's hot!"
"Yeah he makes even Kiba seem average!"
"Dammit not another Handsome!"
"We should spread horrible rumors about that guy!"
Those were just some of the whispered that he heard as he made his way towards the classroom where he was assigned previously and entered.
No one was there yet so he sat in the back of the class and waited.
Soon after the other students filed into the room and took their seats, there wasn't one who didn't shoot him a curious stare as they passed him.
For the most part Cassius ignored them, he did however notice that he was in the same class as a certain red haired deviless and her queen
She too looked at him, and the instant their eyes made contact he gave sly wink, which made her eyes widen.
The teacher walked in before the girl could say anything.
"Alright class I'll start with attendance..." the teacher murmured in a bored tone.
The man then proceeded to name off the students one by one receiving replies in return, before eventually coming to Cassius.
"I don't know why I bother but... Sparda Cassius?" The teacher said not really expecting an answer.
"Yeah yeah I'm here." Cassius yawned uncaring.
The whole class spun so fast that they collectively got whiplash!
"Eh!?" The girls of the class exclaimed.
He couldn't blame them really. He hadn't shown up to any classes since he transferred. He was too busy with Jobs, so he had the school just mail him the course work, which was an option by the way.
"W-well it's nice to see you in class for once Sparda." The teacher said.
Cassius just shrugged, choosing to remain silent.
"This is going to be a long day." he thought with boredom as the teacher returned to rollcall.
Later that day Cassius found himself seated in the student council chambers across from one Souna Shitori or should he say Sona Sitri.
"So prez... mind explaining why I'm here?" He said with an uninterested expression.
Her stare became stern in an attempt to cow him, due to his informal address of her title.
"President, and you have been called here because in the months since your transfer, you have not attended a single class." She said.
"And yet I have completed all of the coursework assigned." He said as he leaned back in his chair, her attempts to intimidate him didn't work obviously.
Sona sighed.
"Yes that is true, and I commend you for doing such while you're busy with work and trying to provide for yourself... however it is my fear that you are neglecting the rest of your education, in favor of a dead end job. You have so much potential in you and it frustrates me that you would waste it in favor of working at some shady place." Sona said with concern.
"There's two things wrong with that sentence." Cassius said as he held up two fingers.
"And they are?" Sona said with a raised brow.
"One-," He put a finger down as he said the word, "You claim that school is about more than just coursework and learning, that is incorrect. That is the only reason a school exists and that is to learn. The way I choose to learn is an acceptable substitute for my lack of physical attendance, as it is technically considered Homeschooling." He said, stating facts that she couldn't deny.
"And the second?" She asked.
"You assume that my job is something shady because you don't have any information about it, and that is the way we keep it, and the pay is far better than any job that any school could get me into in the future." Cassius finished as he put his last finger down.
"There more to life than money Cassius..." Sona said with a pitying look in her eyes.
Cassius had enough at that point.
"This arrogant little-"
Cassius' leg, which had previously been crossed over the other, slammed to the down to the floor, which made her jump slightly.
Sona soon found herself on the receiving end of a glare that only people who had seen and caused death could give, and that made her freeze.
"What would a rich girl like you know about the struggles of those who have nothing? You who was fed a silver spoon at birth and then decided silver was worth less than a golden spoon! You know nothing! And yet here you are lecturing people like you know better than them. Go fuck yourself princess!" Cassius said as he made to stand up.
"H-how dare you!?" Son responded with a glare of her own.
"I'm so tired of hearing that. I dare because I can! So shut the fuck up!" He cursed at her once more.
Sona was about to respond when the power went out.
"What the...?" Cassius muttered as he looked around the room.
Sona tried to turn on the lights but it was pointless.
"Looks like a power outage." She said.
"Yeah no shit Sherlock." Cassius rolled his eyes at her obvious statement.
"Do you have to be rude everytime you speak?" She asked him.
"No not really. But people like you just bring out the worst in me." Cassius snarked.
His statement actually made her flinch, her goal had always been to be someone that brought out the best in people... that was why his words cut her so deeply.
"I-... I apologize... it was never my intention to make you dislike me... i-in fact I called you here to make you an offer." She said as she reached for a certain box.
"If it's about joining you group then you can forget it. Those things don't work on me anyways." Cassius said, dropping the "I know about the supernatural" bombshell.
Sona nearly dropped her box of evil pieces to the floor.
"Y-you kno-"
"About the supernatural? Or that you're Devils? Because the answer is yes to both." He said as he stood up and stretched, much to her confusion.
"Looks like we've got some company." he said before summoning La Muerte onto his person, much to her shock.
"What do you-" She was cut off by a small red magic circle appearing next to her head.
"Rias?" She barely had time to speak before-
"There's a stray devil in the school! It has the band club held hostage! I can't take care of it because I'm stuck protecting the students!" the red haired she-devil said through the circle.
"I'm on my way stay safe Rias." Sona said before she too stood from her desk.
"Why don't you sit this one out princess, let the professionals take care of it." Cassius said as he turned to leave.
"The police can't handle something like this Sparda!"
Cassius looked back at her incredulous.
"Who said anything about police?" He said as Satanael appeared on his back.
"What-... just who are you?" she asked him in shock.
"Oh where are my manners." He said as he gave her a theatrical bow.
"Name's Cassius Sparda, devil hunter extraordinaire and owner of Devil May Cry, the finest monster hunting business the world has and ever will see." Cassius said dramatically before he turned with flourish of his coat.
"Now sit back, relax, and watch me work." he finished as he left the room, leaving a stunned Sona behind.
As Cassius walked through the doors of the auditorium, he immediately noticed several things.
The first was Rias Gremory, who was seated next to several other students who looked to be in some sort of trance.
Cassius's alpha stigma flashed for a second and he immediately saw that there was dense levels of magic in the air that was causing the trance, likely from the stray devil.
Speaking of, the devil itself stood on the stage in the form of a beautiful woman in a ripped and tattered white dress, who was lit by a spotlight as she sang an Operatic tune.
Cassius silently approached the stage, completely passing Rias who immediately noticed him and paled.
"Are you crazy? You're going the get yourself killed!" she hissed at him, not noticing his weaponry.
"Oh hush little she-devil and let me do my job." Cassius said as he stepped onto the stage.
The singing abruptly stopped the second his foot hit the wood.
"Not a bad performance there lady. Although you were a little pitchy on that high note." Cassius said was a round of slow and mocking applause.
The woman shot him a withering glare before releasing a screech not unlike that of a banshee.
Visible shockwaves of sound blasted towards Cassius who casually sidestepped the sound wave.
"Like I said. A little pitchy." He said as he dug a finger into his hear as if you clean it.
"Grr! What you know about Music human?!" She demanded.
"Well I don't want to brag but, I play an... electrifying guitar solo." Cassius quipped with his usual smirk.
"Hssss how dare you mock me?! Do you know know who I am!?" She hissed at him.
"The answer to your question is sinple really. I. Don't. Give. A. Fuck." He said slow enough for her to understand.
"Rah! You insolent child! I will make you pay for your disrespect!" she screamed at him before her form changed to that of a banshee, yes still was incredibly beautiful.
Cassius whistled at her.
"Woah babe there's no need to be so fiesty can't we just settle this like adult?" he asked before summoning Ebony into his demonic palm and pointing it at the banshee devil.
"With a bang!" he said before pulling the trigger several times in rapid succession.
The banshee screamed in pain, but that also send another sound wave towards Cassius, who chose not to dodge this time.
Instead Nevan flashed into his hands and he slammed down on the strings to create his own shockwave of sound.
The banshee looked shock that her scream had been canceled out.
"W-what is that!?" She demanded to know.
"Nunya." He said with a serious face.
"Nunya?" the banshee asked confused.
"Nunya Business." Cassius finished with a snicker.
Rias in the audience couldn't help but snort at the joke, before quickly covering her mouth in embarrassment.
The banshee screamed in frustration before charging.
Cassius smirked before he began to strum Nevan's strings again.
Play: something in your mouth- nickelback
The second the banshee was close enough, she slashed at him with elongated fingernails, but the devil hunter merely smirked before lashing out with a devastating kick from a newly equipped Hollow S Jack.
Nevan was still in his hands as he continued to strum.
Cassius rushed the banshee with the combined skills of Nevan and Hollow S Jack and closed the distance before she could recover from her impromptu flight.
Nevan shifted into her scythe form and he unleashed a devastating combination of reaping slices into the banshee's body.
She screamed again in an attempt to force him back but soon found the twin barrels of a demonic shotgun inside her mouth, a long blade could be seen protruding from the back of her neck.
"That better... you look so much cuter with something in your mouth." he semi-quoted the song as Nevan continued to strum on her own.
The banshee's eyes widen, but before she could beg for her life, her head was vaporized in a crimson mist.
"Aw. Guess there's no encore to this duet of ours babe." Cassius said as he spun the demonically upgraded Shotgun that he had taken from that one pizza guy.
The former full length doubled shotgun had been particularly sawed off to make it more stable for one handed use. But the upgrades didn't end there, in addition to the change in barrel length he added a single edge segmented blade that was shaped identically to Red Queen and was completely retractable and could even become a whip if necessary.
The blade was fitted snuggly between either barrel of the shotgun.
What was demonic about the weapon however was a different story. About a year into his hunting business he got a job to kill a stray devil that controlled shadow in America, but apparently the client was actually in league with the creature and was leading him into a trap. After taking the creature's soul he decided to upgrade the shotgun and it had gained several studs of bone with a ribcage decorating the barrel. A haze of shadowy mist had appeared around the blade, which he had created using Grave Artificer before fusing the sword with the shotgun.
He named the weapon Black Tyrant.
Now he had two gunblades, of course Satanael was still superior but it was good to have options. It didn't help that Satanael only shot light based bullets while Black Tyrant could use more rounds like dragon fire or buckshot, it could also fire shell of shadow when out of ammo... sure they lacked the same level of power but it was nice to know he could still shoot if he ran out of ammunition, which he won't because Grave Artificer could also create any ammunition he required.
But he digressed.
Returning Black Tyrant to his inventory he walked off the stage with his hands in his pockets.
Completely ignoring Rias's look of shock and awe, and the students that were now fast asleep.
A quick flash of his Alpha Stigma sent out a hypnosis spell that he'd learned from a pure-blood devil client of his, to wipe the memories of the normal humans in the room.
That done he continued onwards, only to be stopped by a hand grasping his arm.
"W-wait!" Rias huffed before releasing him to look at him straight in the eyes.
"Join my Peerage!"
"Hell no! I've already got a sexy redhaired she-devil in my life! I don't need another one!" Cassius said with his arms crossed over his chest like an X.
Clearly Rias hadn't been expecting that and she stood there stunned.
Cassius took that as his chance to leave and picked up his pace to make a hasty retreat
Later that evening Cassius relaxed at his desk, feet up and a game catalogue resting on his face, to make it appear like he was napping.
In truth... he was waiting for his stalker to make their move.
Ever since the attack of that stray devil in the school he'd noticed that he was being followed. By whom? He didn't know for sure... but he did know that they were responsible for the attacks.
And so he waited... and sure enough, the door to his shop opened.
"We're closed for the day. Come back tomorrow." He mumbled out from beneath the catalog.
"Oh my apologies sir but might you be a Mister Cassius Sparda?" A young girl's voice asked from the other side of his desk.
"Hmt?" Cassius let out a low grunt before he removed his choice of reading from his face to see who the voice belonged to.
He recognized her almost immediately as Mittelt, the Fallen Lolita Angel that was part of Raynare's group that killed Issei and later Asia.
The fallen stood before him with an innocent look on her face.
"Guess I'll play along." he thought before giving the girl a sardonic smile.
"What's up kid? You lost or something?" He asked the girl with a tinge of sarcasm.
She shook her head.
"No! My mommy said to come find you if I ever needed help!" She said with an urgent look on her face.
"Oh?" He sounded with a questioning brow.
"And why do you need my help little lady?" He asked her again.
"A-a devil has taken my mother! Please! You have to save her!" The fallen pleaded with tears in her eyes.
"Somebody get this girl an Oscar..." Cassius thought with amusement.
"Yeah of course Mittelt lead the way." He said with a smile.
The girl's eyes shone with happiness before she turned around and began to walk away, only she froze as she realized something.
"Wait... how did you know name Mister?" She asked as she began to turn around, only to see a white pistol aimed between her eyes.
"Nice try kiddo." He said before pulling the trigger.
Mittelt, being the fastest of her group barely managed to dodge the bullet to her face, and instead got hit in the shoulder. Blood oozed from the wound as she screamed in pain.
"H-how did you-?!"
"Know that you're a fallen angel? Darlin'... I've worked with Azazel on numerous occasions. I've seen you on numerous occasions. Did you really think I wouldn't remember who you were?" He asked her with an "Are you for real" look on his face.
Mittelt grit her teeth.
"Shut up shut up SHUT UP!" Mittelt screamed before summoning several dozens of small pink light spears that raced to impale him.
Cassius summoned Ebony to pair with Ivory and began to rapidly blast the spears as they flew towards him.
Gunshots reigned supreme as bullet after bullet shattered spear after spear until none remained, but Mittelt was nowhere to be seen.
"Tch... sneaky little fucker ain't she..." Cassius said before closing the door to his shop and returning to his desk.
However the second he put his feet up the door swung wide open and Sona Sitri stormed in.
"You! Just who the hell are you?!" She demanded as she slammed the palms of her hands onto his desk.
"Pretty sure I told you. Plus you have my name on file." Cassius drawled, choosing to ignore the disrespect she just showed him.
"We may have your name! But as for who you are and what you're doing in my territory is another story!" she glared at him.
He raised his brow and looked around.
"Is this hell?" He asked her.
She blinked at the question.
"No?" she said, confused.
Cassius nodded in agreement.
"Then... is this the underworld?" He asked her again.
"No of course not! This is the human world!" she said like he was stupid.
"Mmm so you admit that this world belongs to humans... so why the fuck are you saying that this town belongs to you?" He asked her with a glare of his own.
"This place was given to us devil by-"
"By whom!? Some bullshit gods whose common sense is so far up their asses to actually give a damn about their subjects?" Cassius snapped at her.
She took a step back at his words.
"Let me tell you something little girl. This world belongs to humanity. Not the gods, not the angels, and certainly not you devils! I have more of a place here than you do! You're merely guests that over stayed their welcome." He said with a glare before relaxing back into his seat.
"I... I apologize... I am just protective of those in this territory..." she said with a downcast expression.
"Now that. I can understand. I have my own people to protect none of them here yet mind you." he said as he kicked his feet up again.
Sona didn't like the fact he was putting his feet on the desk, but held herself back from saying such because this was his building after all.
"May I at least have an answer as to why you, the infamous Devil Hunter, responsible for the deaths of over 200,000 stray devils and other supernatural entities, are here in Kuoh." she asked him.
"I see you did some research on me after I left, I'm a little surprised you found out from just my name, considering I make sure my clientele respect my privacy." Cassius said with a smirk at his own kill count.
"..." Sona seemed to struggle with something, which Cassius immediately knew the issue.
"Oh~? You were so curious about me that you swallowed your pride to ask your dear older sister about me?" Cassius teased.
"Sh-shut up!" she shouted with embarrassment.
"Hahahaha! No need to be defensive! I'm flattered!" He laughed boisterous at her embarrassed expression.
Sona sent him a scathing glare, which was paired with an absolutely adorable pout that only made him laugh harder.
Once he settled down he leaned back in his chair.
"So how is Sera doing these days?" He asked her, which made her blink.
"Y-you know my sister?" She asked him, to which he shrugged.
"We did a few jobs together, nothing dangerous mind you. But she did hire me as a bodyguard on a few occasions. Not that she really needed one." Cassius informed her which made her pinch the bridge of her nose.
"I should have known... My sister sent you here didn't she." Sona stated like it was a fact and not a question.
"Nope. Actually she doesn't know I'm here... well she didn't until you called her I'm sure." Cassius said with a non-committal shrug.
"I-I see... I must have misunderstood." She said.
"Yeah that's a problem I tend to see with most devils of your generation. You tend to believe that everything that happens through sheer coincidence is actually caused by you." Cassius said as he flipped through his gaming catalog again.
Sona didn't really have a response to that, because she knew it to be truth.
"Then... why are you here?" She asked him.
"Well... you have an older sister who loves you very much and would do anything if it meant protecting you right?" He asked her rhetorically, to which she nodded.
"Well... I'm an older brother who'll do anything to keep his little sister protected... and my little sister will be moving to Kuoh soon... but not of her own volition." Cassius explained with a serious tone.
"I see... then you came here upon discovering her moving to this place." She surmised.
"Correct. Not bad princess." Cassius said with his cocky smile that was strangely endearing to her.
"Well then... I will inform Rias of your reasons for being in our shared territory. However... please come to school more often than you currently do." Sona said as she stood to leave.
"Yeah yeah when I got time I will. Although you should be seeing a lot more of me in recent days. Afterall... the party's only just getting started." Cassius said in a forewarning tone before she was out of earshot.
Sona stood outside the building, contemplating what he meant by his last words.
However as she stood there she got a call from Rias via magic circle.
"Rias? What is it?" She asked with concern.
"What?! A Fallen Angel killed Issei Hyoudou?!" She exclaimed with horror in her tone. Sure he was a pervert but even she could tell he was a kind soul and didn't deserve to be murdered!
"You... recruited him? What piece is he?" She asked curious of his potential.
"8 pawns?! Weren't two of your pawns mutation pieces?" she asked in shock.
"That settles it then... he mostly likely possesses a Longinus class sacred gear... well done. That boy might be the answer to your... problem." She said with a bit of hesitation towards the end.
"What? Oh right... that man... Cassius... do not try to fight him. He is merely here to look after his own sister who will be relocating to our territory soon. But it seems like it's not through her own will... likely she was kidnapped and he has tracked them to our territory... the fallen may be involved." She explained with a stressful sigh.
"Right right... keep me posted, thank you Rias, and good luck with your newest servant. Yes I know I still have to find myself pawns and another bishop but unlike you my servants don't just fall into my lap like some person I know!" She said before the call ended.
Standing alone in the dark she sighed before she began to walk to her home. She could have teleported but she needed some time to clear her head.
As she walked through the dark streets, she noticed that it had begun to rain, and sighed again.
She was about to teleport home to avoid getting too drenched, when she heard a sound coming from a nearby alley... it was the sound of fists impacting flesh.
She entered the alley and froze at what she witnessed.
A boy stood there, surrounded by several downed men who looked like gang members, as he pounded into the face of another with his left fist. Sona immediately noticed there was a girl in torn up clothing a short distance behind the boy. As she stood there watching the scene... the moon seemed to shift its light to reveal the boy's rage filled face, and she gasped.
"Saji..."
Within the walls of Devil May Cry, Cassius took the time to clean up the mess left behind from Mittelt's assault.
"Looks like things are really starting to take off... Should I meet the kid now? Or later... either way I have to meet him before Asia gets here." Cassius muttered as he swept up the remains of a shattered photograph.
Picking up the picture, he smiled at the sight of Azazel, another certain white haired halfdevil, and himself standing behind a smiling Asia who was holding both his and Vali's hands. The photo had been taken somewhere in the Rocky Mountains of America, a place they stayed for about three months before Asia and himself set out around the world, with Vali and Azazel joining them for a few of their adventures.
He pocketed the photo and walked up the stairs with a determined glare.
"I won't let Asia die this time. She doesn't deserve what she had to go through. If she wants to join Rias' peerage in the future... it will be of her own choice... not one made on her deathbed." Cassius thought as he closed the door to his room and locked the door.
He knew he had the strength... but did he have enough power? Of that he couldn't be sure... after all he hadn't even awakened his devil trigger yet.
Phew done. hope you enjoyed it. And let me be clear I'm not bashing on Sona... it's just she is literally his polar opposite in personality.
She thinks schools and education are more important than almost anything. While he understands that the world practically runs on money, strength, power and most of all, experience.
She's serious, stoic and prideful. He's laid back, expressive and cocky. The two were bound to clash and still will on numerous occasions.
Now... I wanna address what is going to be the actual pairing for this story because for some reason... Nevan is not a selectable character in the Devil May cry character options... if anyone knows an admin could you have them fix that? Anyways... the final pairing for Cassius will be Xenovia, Kuroka, Nevan, and Serafall. I decided Lint wasn't really a good idea... because of what I have planned up for the future.
Next I want to address the fact that I said Cassius hadn't unlocked his devil trigger, and I want to point out how long it took Nero and even Dante to unlock their devil triggers. Dante's took him until he was 18 because he was in a constant battle against the mental manifestation of his demonic power... aka the doppelganger, when Rebellion was impaled in him by Virgil, it's ability to strengthen one's inner devil allowed him to overcome that boundary and awaken his devil trigger.
Now... Nero's a bit of a tough one to really understand but for the most part is that, because he is Virgil's son he could use the Yamato and through it's power he was able to unlock a bastardized version of the devil trigger, while his arm aka the devil bringer was just his arm in a permanent devil trigger state due to it being created through the small power of Virgil that he had inherited from his father after it had been cut off protecting Kyrie in the events that lead up to dmc4. When that arm was removed he lost access to both the Yamato and any demonic power he had inherented. However throughout the entirety of DMC5 Nero is exposed to more and more demonic powers as he gains new devil breakers... which btw could be considered devil arms in themselves...but for the sake of not having them be a literal joke... it's understandable why nico would call them devil breakers. Anyways as he was exposed to more and more demon powers and got stronger as a result, he would eventually overcome his own troubles over his demonic heritage (which he had hated because of the order's teachings on demons.) and as a result awakened his own true Devil Trigger to prevent his uncle/ mentor Dante from battling his father Virgil.
Now I'm sure you're all wondering... why the hell am I bringing all this up when you've more than likely played the games and know what happened for yourselves... well... I'm getting to that.
How I see Cassius' lack of a DT is that his body may be strong enough to take the devil trigger... but he still has something that is subconsciously keeping him from unlocking even an imperfect devil trigger. Hehe and this is where my future plans come into play. And if you want to know more... well you'll just have to keep reading to find out.
