After that Harry spent a few days in bed, Carlisle was waking him up twice a day to check how he was healing and to give him medication however during those days he only exchanged a few words with him. Esme also came to him, brought his meals, made sure he ate the proper portions. Harry knew that for several years the Cullens had been sure he hated them and he knew that the resentment wouldn't go away overnight. Usually, he did not feel that most of the time he was alone because he slept a lot, although there were times when the silence was too overwhelming and he lay, alone, feeling as if he were drowning, crying until he fell asleep from exhaustion and no one came to his rescue.

Some days were better, other were worse. This day did not start well, Harry had one of the worst nightmares he had ever had, he woke up in the middle of the night and a scream stuck in his throat which was dry as if he had been screaming for hours. He didn't sleep later, not because he wasn't sleepy, because he couldn't, every time he closed his eyes he saw Cedric's death but something subconsciously told him that it wasn't him but his brother, Edward. He also dreamt of Sirius' death but his place was taken by Carlisle, he saw the bodies of Remus and Tonks replaced by Rosalie and Emmet. He lost one family the other he couldn't. It was at this point that he made the decision as soon as he was able, he would leave. He didn't want to bring more misery on the Cullens and that was the only thing he was good at. He held back the tears as long as he could, knowing that in the morning Carlisle would come and notice his swollen eyes and then the questions he would want to avoid would begin. Soo a rainy morning greeted him and with it his silent father, quickly checked his stitches, gave him some pills, a glass of water and left. Tears were weighing down Harry's eyes more and more, he waited a few minutes to make sure Carlisle left for work and the rest for school then let the tears flow.

In the last few days, the pain meds had worked wonders, no bruise, abrasion or wound had hurt, yet he felt a dull ache somewhere from within. The pain was pulsating, once lightly felt and once unbearable, from the toes to the top of the head and no medication helped.

Harry curled up in a ball and his tears dripped from his us onto the pillow, a wave of pain pierced him and he shuddered. He wasn't paying attention to the world around him he didn't notice when his mom walked into the room.

"My poor child" she sighed and set the cup of tea she had brought him down on the nearest table

"What happened" she asked coming closer

Harry's only response was another wave of sobs running through his entire body like chills

"It's okay, I'm with you, I am" Esme lay down on the bed behind him and hugged him whispering reassuring words

Harry could feel the coldness of her body but it didn't bother him, all that mattered was that she was there

-I—I-I-

After several hours of crying in his mother's arms, Harry calmed down enough to sit and talk to his mother

"Carlisle said if you feel up to it you can get out of bed today, just don't strain yourself" said his mother sitting down on the bed beside him

Harry nods in response

"Shouldn't you be studying at Hogwarts right now?"

"Can we not talk about this now" Harry said lowering his gaze

"Of course," Esme knew something was wrong but she didn't want to force him to answer, she was sure he would say when he was ready

"As soon as I'm completely recovered, I'll leave, I won't cause any more problems" Harry said lifting his gaze to Esme

"You're under the age of majority, I won't let you go anywhere" she said in a motherly tone

"But" Harry began, but his mother interrupted him

"Why do you even think you are causing a problem, we are your family there will always be room for you here"

"They hate me" he whispered softly

"Honey, they don't hate you at all. They were angry for a while but they never hated you, believe me they love you more than life, maybe it wasn't a good comparison but you know what I mean" she said stroking his back

Harry let out a soft laugh and smiled at his mother

"And now are you ready to get up?" she asked

His mother got up from the bed and gave him her hand, Harry grasped it gently pulling himself up being careful of the stitches. Esme led him into the kitchen, where she seated him at the table and served him breakfast. Walking hurt not only in his leg, since he was already used to it, but also in his abdomen, and pulling the stitches didn't help. It didn't change the fact that Harry was very happy to finally get out of bed, he was getting tired of lying in bed. The house was very nice, similar to their old one, but a little more modern, he passed only the way from the guest bedroom to the kitchen, but for now he didn't plan to wander any further, at least not today. Harry ate his breakfast in silence, and Esme sat down opposite him at the table

"You've grown up a lot in the last few years," Esme observed Harry just looked at her

"Last time you were home you were a little boy not much taller than Alice, bouncing back and forth with your older brothers and now, you're a young man their age"

"They're a lot older than me" Harry said expressionlessly putting down his empty plate

Esme smiled warmly at him, she was about to say something when something tapped on the window, his mother got up from the table and walked over to the window and then opened it. An owl came in with a letter in the beak, Esme held out her hand for the letter and the owl hopped away hooting nervously and then flew over to the table and landed in front of Harry

"Maybe it's from your friend Ron, isn't it his owl always had to fly into the glass"

"No, it's not his," said Harry

"Maybe from your godfather, he must have been frightened by your disappearance, or from that teacher who was so afraid you were living with us"

Harry swallowed hard after his mother's words and forced himself to answer with a smile

" It's from Hermione," he replied gravely

"Oh, that's right, tell me if I was right, did she start dating Ron"

"Yes mom, as always, you were right" said Harry more calmly

The boy took the letter gently and the owl fell onto the table, Harry rolled his eyes at this behaviour, owls liked to be dramatic.

"Poor thing, she must be tired, it's a long way from England," said Esme

"He has time to rest, if she didn't leave right away it means she is waiting for an answer, where are we anyway" asked the boy getting up from the table

" You don't know," said surprised Esme

"A colleague arranged for me to travel in a hurry I never knew where I was going" Harry scratched his head in embarrassment

"We're in Forks, Washington, not far from Seattle. I'm sure you know where that is"

Harry nodded showing he understood, he stood with the letter in his hand, he looked towards the guest room and back at Esme. He wanted to ask if he could go back to room and his mother saw that

" You can go back to the room if you want, I understand, you don't have to read it in front of me" she smiled at him

Harry returned the smile and slowly went into the room, leaving his mother alone in the kitchen. He sat down at the desk in the room, unrolled the letter and start reading it.

Dear Harry

I don't know where you are but I hope you are okay, the whole magical world is looking for you, everyone is worried, the front page of the daily prophet is occupied by the news of your disappearance.

Then, on the bridge, Ron didn't want to say it, you know? He is in pain and does not think logically, he shouted the first thing he could thought of, that after saying what he thought would make him feel better. Now he regrets it, you know how he is, please don't be angry with him for long.

Next month they plan to finish rebuilding the castle and next year we can repeat a year to finish our education. Obviously, this is for the willing but I'm hoping you'll show up, me, Ronald and a few other friends of ours are going so it would be nice to see you there too.

I hope you're all right and in one piece, please reply, everyone is worried. I won't tell you to come back right away, but give us a sign of life. Anything, please.

PS. Ginny said to tell you she misses you

PPS. We all miss

Your friend

Harmony Granger

Harry stared at the letter reading it over and over, the whole magical world was looking for him and worried about him, too bad it was only now that he was gone. Even the daily prophet has sought him out, he's been on the front page more than once with titles suggesting he's dangerous, a liar, a lunatic, or all of them at once. Just defeating an evil wizard is enough to make everyone worry about you, and he wanted to forget about it. He knew Ron was explosive, but he was the one looking him in the eye at that moment and he was the one who saw that hatred, he knew it wasn't a momentary lapse or unintentional words. Ron hated him in truth and he didn't think that would change anytime soon. Harry didn't change his attitude towards his friend, he wasn't angry with him, in fact he understood his hatred. Hermione wouldn't be Hermione if she didn't say anything about school, Harry smiled slightly when he got to that part, unfortunately he couldn't grant her wish. He wasn't going to go back to Hogwarts, not because he didn't want to or had no desire to learn, he just couldn't stand it. He would have to spend another year in a place of such terrible suffering, not only his but mostly others caused by him. He missed them too but he knew it would be better if he didn't come back and they wouldn't suffer more because of him.

Harry found blank sheets of paper and a pen in his desk, he wanted to write a reply but really didn't know what to write. He spent several hours writing the letter then crumpling up the pages and throwing them away, nothing seemed appropriate to write. When he had the last piece of paper left, he stopped and thought about it, only Esme calling for lunch snapped him out of his reverie, before leaving the room he looked at the paper again and quickly scribbled a few words in the middle

I'm fine

I'm home

Harry folded the paper carelessly a few times and left the room heading back to the kitchen. In one of the windows as far away from Esme as possible stood an owl, he went up to it and handed it a note

"Take this to Hermione" he said to the owl who turned and flew away

" And what" asked a curious Esme

Harry cast her a look under saying "really"

" Well, what. Can't I be curious. Just because I doesn't make you read it in front of me doesn't mean I'm not interested in the letter," she said, placing the plate on the table

" She wondered where I was and stuff like that" Harry replied evasively sitting down at the table

"If you don't want to, don't tell me" she shrugged her shoulders

" Really, that was mostly the point"

" As you said "

Harry was in the middle of eating when he heard the door open and then close

"I'm home," shouted a familiar voice

Harry lifted his head towards the door and felt cold in stomach, in the entrance stood his brother, Edward.
