Finally… we made it, Shrek thought as Olympus's hoof touched the entrance marker to Far Far Away. He had seen the pseudo-Hollywood sign from the distance and he smiled when his eyes landed on the castle.

Fiona. She was just right there… at least he thought. Shrek's eyes had grown tired of seeing the endless amounts of trees and wild animals in the woods. The Los Angeles esque city was a sight for his sore eyes.

Lord Farquaad had fallen asleep during the trip, but Shrek couldn't waste his time not looking out for the city. He was too anxious to face Fiona after daring to leave her and his child. The poor horse had to be tired after carrying Shrek and Farquaad for about 1000 miles, but he did not stop trotting and walking.

Even though it was midnight and dark, the castle still glowed up like a Christmas tree. Olympus slowed down when he reached the main square of the city, and Shrek looked around in awe as if he were coming here for the first time. He glanced at the Burger Prince and the Farbucks, but he still stared at the castle that was slowly getting closer. He felt a rush of excitement through his body, and he shook Lord Farquaad awake. "Lord Farquaad! Farquaad! We're almost there!" Farquaad scaredly woke up and he frowned at the man. "Did you really have to wake me up, Ogre?!"

"You don't understand. Fiona is right there! Right there in that castle! I'm so close to her and my kid." My kid… my kid… those words played through his mind over and over. He still was in shock that he was going to be a father. But at this moment, he wasn't afraid anymore. He was more than happy and excited to have his own kid. He didn't know why he got angry over being the guardian of another human… "God, I hope this goes okay. Please let her be happy to see me.

When Olympus had finally reached the castle after an extra five minutes, Lord Farquaad said in amazement, "This castle is… beautiful. It's gigantic!"
Shrek chuckled and he replied, "This is where I lived the past month… and now I'm coming back home."

He anxiously mounted off of Olympus and Lord Farquaad called out, "Wait! Let me come with you!" He tried to catch up with Shrek, but he was already behind him enough. However, he did follow his tracks.

Shrek sprinted through the halls, quickly glancing at the statues and paintings of Fiona and Queen Lillian. He didn't know where she could be, but his first guess had to be her bedroom. Praying that his guess was correct, he ran up the stairs towards her bedroom. His body felt completely numb because he could only think about seeing Fiona. Nothing else ran through his mind but Fiona's reaction to seeing him. He couldn't even feel himself panting and gasping for air because he was desperate to reach her bedroom.

He could imagine the whole scene in his head. He'll run into her bedroom, and she'll be on her bed waiting for his arrival. She will run up to him in happiness and they'll proudly have a private session as Shrek apologizes for everything he's done. He smiled as the thought of kissing Fiona played in his head. I can't wait to taste her lips again. God, I've missed her so much.

When he saw the door to her room, he stopped running and grasped his knees to catch his breath. "She's just right there, Shrek," he confidently told himself. He brushed off his shirt and pants and ran his fingers through his hair, hoping to make his appearance more delightful than before. He was inches away from the door and he shakily reached out for the door handles.

He took a deep breath and then opened the golden gate to her room. When he opened the door, the entrance didn't seem so golden anymore. His expression went from happiness to utter shock in a matter of milliseconds. He couldn't believe it… he just couldn't believe it.

The world seemed to have stopped and Shrek couldn't breathe. His body continued to feel numb and he wanted to cry. It was as if he had been hit by a thousand bricks, but he survived and had to deal with the pain. He could hear the shattering of his heart and the pounding of his brain.

He prayed that this was a dream, but it was a nightmare instead. His first sight was Fiona and Charming kissing each other passionately. They had ignored his presence, but Shrek wanted to make sure that they knew he was here.

"WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!" Shrek angrily roared. This made Fiona and Charming jump in surprise. Shrek stormed over to the bed and his eyes were fiery red.

Fiona couldn't believe her eyes. Her own husband who had betrayed her, left her, aggravated her, name it all, was right there in front of her. She couldn't bear to be excited to see him because she was still angry with him… and herself for giving in to Charming's charm.

"Sh-Shrek?" Fiona managed to whisper between gulps. She was able to stand up and she glanced back at a smiling Charming. He was enjoying the fact that he knew that there was going to be a heated argument following her response.

"What the hell were you doing, Fiona?! What did I just see?!" Shrek's eyes were locked on Fiona's shocked face. He was breathing heavily as she was praying for an escape.

"Should I leave, my darling?" Charming said mockingly as he stood up from the bed.

"You can get you and your desperate ass out of this castle, you damn asshole!" Shrek yelled at the guilty man. Charming smiled and he slowly walked towards the door, but he stopped next to Shrek.

"Don't think she'll forgive you," he muttered with a cocky smile. Shrek turned and glared at him, clenching his fists. Charming gave him a wink and then continued to exit out of the room. When he left the room, Shrek turned his frown towards Fiona.

"My darling? Are you goddamn serious, Fiona?! Why the hell are you messing with him?!"

"Shrek, you have no right to yell at me! Again! You made me think that you were gone forever!" Her eyes were as red as Shrek's. How dare he yell at me again? Why is he even here anyways when he said that he never wanted to see me again?!

"I sure do have the right to yell at you for cheating on me! Don't forget that we are still married!" Shrek's voice gradually grew louder and angrier as he dealt with the pain.

"Now why would I think that we are still married when you left me and put me in an unstable mental state for days?! I have thought that you would never return and that I would have to raise our kids on our own!"

"K-Kids?" Shrek nervously asked. Did she really make that plural?

"Yes, kids! With an 's'! I found out this morning that we are having triplets, Shrek! Triplets! And you left me to care for all three of them on my own!"

Shrek could not believe what he was hearing. Tr-triplets? As in three children?! "Are you sure?" He calmly asked his wife. He has never been more terrified. He thought he had overcome the fear of becoming a father. But fathering three kids at one time? That had sent his fear over the edge.

Fiona wanted to calm down, but she was thinking that he would get scared and run away again. "Yes, I am damn well sure! And you better not run away like you did last time!"

"You don't understand, Fiona! That is how I deal with my fear! I am scared to be a father of three kids at the same time!"

"Maybe you should find a different way of dealing with things! You can't leave the person who loves you the most all by themselves."

Damn, why'd she have to put it that way? He thought as his frown slowly faded into a sad one.

"You have no idea how much pain you gave me when you left, Shrek. I had nightmares about you leaving me and how I would be lonely and I would not be able to have the kids without you. I felt betrayed and unloved. When I had brought Artie back with me-."

"Who's Artie?" Shrek asked, thinking that she had another man with her.

"He's my cousin that I brought from Worcestershire to become king. Don't even think that I was doing things with him!"

"Well, when I come to apologize to you, I find you sucking Charming's face! Why him?! Why?! After all that he and his devil of a mother tried to do to me?! To us?! No wonder I would think that you'd be screwing someone else after I see that!"

"Did you really think that I would forgive you? Do you think that, Shrek? At least he is actually offering to help me with the children! He said that he would become their father if he had to!"

"I'm not letting him do that! These kids are mine! Mine! I will be there for them and I will be there for you! I came here to show you that I will never leave you again!"

Fiona sighed in frustration and sadness. She couldn't tell how she was feeling at that exact moment. Was she happy that Shrek was saying this? Or was she angry at herself for doubting his claim? I don't know if I can trust him… he's made it hard for me to trust him.

"Shrek, I don't know if I believe you. You told me that you would always be there for me when we first got married. And look where we are now. Here we are having an argument. Like I've said, you've put me through so much in the past weeks and I don't know what I feel right now. I can't tell if I want to kiss you or to hit you." Shrek's eyes didn't seem red anymore as they stared into each other's eyes. His expression was blue and dreary as well as Fiona's. "And I don't know why I ended up kissing Charming. I gave into his kindness and charm towards me-."

"But you know that is fake!" Shrek interrupted in a depressed and aggravated state.

And that was when silence filled the air. Shrek was in an awake coma of grief, anger, and heartbreak. And all he could do was stare at his lovely wife... who didn't seem to be the same Fiona he has loved all along.
