Sorry for the delay again. It's hard to keep a steady schedule for this! Anyways, I got the names for the genderbent Sector V (and to a degree their appearances) from a DeviantArt picture by T-mack56 (URL at the end of the chapter), a bunch of other DeviantArt pictures, and I made up the characters Ms. Wink and Ms. Fibb myself.

A phone rang.

"It's been adult swim for like eleventy billion hours."

Today's Mission Codename:

"Well, duh, we're all just sitting around!"

Kids Next Door
Mission Alert

A treehouse stood majestically over the neighborhood it was located in, its tree growing out of a house and sporting a variety of structures like a ship, a telescope, a satellite, a rocket, and several buildings. The house was also white with a red roof like the one where Kendra and Chimpie lived, and it had a mailbox at the front that said KND in white letters. The house belonged to the Kids Next Door, an organization of children who worked to save other children from adult tyranny.

Inside one of the rooms; which had a purple lava lamp, a blue couch, a triangular table, a purple pool table, and a counter with several stools among other things; a French/African-American boy, named Alberto Lincoln and codenamed Numbuh 5, sat on a pink polka-dotted armchair by the fireplace reading a book. He wore a pair of blue jean shorts, a blue T-shirt with white stripes, a red baseball cap, a pair of white tennis shoes, a pair of reading glasses, and sported a mop of black hair that extended toward his shoulders. The room darkened as one of the lights came on and shined the number 5 in red on his book, which could only mean one thing: he'd been summoned for another mission with his fellow Kids Next Door. Anticipating this, he looked up from the pages, threw off the glasses, tossed the book aside, and ran towards the magnetic mesh door also with a red 5.

Meanwhile, in another room, an Australian girl named Willamina "Willie" Beetles, whose codename was Numbuh 4, was sparring with a robot in a wrestling arena. The robot had a body made out of wood, a painted angry mouth showing its teeth, flexible metallic arms ending in red boxing gloves, metallic legs with big tires for feet, a metal helmet with a light not unlike a miner's helmet, and a pair of purple shorts with yellow stripes suspended by a white belt with KND written on the buckle; while Willie wore an orange hoodie, a pair of blue jeans, a pair of white tennis shoes, and had blonde hair that she wore in two long messy braids. The robot's helmet light went red as it prepared to throw another left punch, which Willie dodged. She grabbed the robot's left wrist, lifted it up a little, pushed it back, and threw the robot to the ground. She stood victoriously, with a spotlight coming on overhead, which shined the number 4 in red. After looking up at it briefly, she ran off to attend to the mission at hand.

In a third room; which was filled with stuffed animals of all colors, shapes, and sizes that had at least one number 3 in red somewhere; a Japanese boy named Kenji Sanban, codenamed Numbuh 3, was bouncing on a fluffy orange-and-yellow couch modeled after a cat (which squeaked every time he landed) with two other stuffed animals. He wore a green sweater with oversized sleeves, a pair of black pants, a pair of black-and-white tennis shoes, and he had short and straight black hair that seemed to bounce with him. After he did a 360° flip clockwise, Willie emerged from the pile of stuffed animals, pulling him by the arm to go to the mission.

And in the treehouse's hangar; which contained several planes, drones, and flying tanks; a plane jutted out from the wall. Inside it; an overweight Jewish-American girl named Hillary Gilligan Jr., who wore a light teal button-up T-shirt, a pair of tan overalls, a pilot's helmet and yellow-lensed goggles, a pair of black-and-white tennis shoes, and had light brown hair tied in two pigtails with pink bows; was sleeping and snoring loudly. A spotlight shined on her, waking her up, and she looked at the targeting screen, where a red number 2 (also part of her codename, Numbuh 2) appeared. Knowing what this meant, she reached for a lever above her head, which ejected her from the plane. She landed on the outside deck, blowing a raspberry and making an "I love you" sign with each hand. Then she ran through the hall, continuing to blow a raspberry and moving her arms out like airplane wings, advancing fast towards a drawbridge-like door with a huge red number 1 on it. The bridge dropped when she reached it; and she entered the mission debriefing room; where Numbuhs 3-5 were already gathered around the central holographic projector.

When all four were seated, a circular area at the front of the room opened, giving way to a platform supporting a podium and a British girl named Nicole Uno, who was codenamed Numbuh 1. She sported a bald spot on her head; had short brown hair surrounding that spot; and wore a red turtleneck sweater, a gray skirt, a pair of brown boots, a pair of dull black sunglasses, and a pair of gold earrings. "Greetings, fellow Kids Next Door," she began, "Today's mission is an important one for us." Walking over to the podium's left and pointing at the image in the holographic projector, she continued, "Now, as you can see, one of our satellites has intercepted a phone call from the neighborhood swim club." The image showed a map of the world rotating with the satellite orbiting the planet, then an image of what was going on at said club appeared, with the others oohing and aahing at it. "It seems that our enemies, the grown-ups, have extended their adult swim, so that kids have absolutely no swim time of their own, and we all know how boring a bunch of adults are in a pool," Nicole finished, sulking at the last part of her sentence.

"Yeah, Numbuh 1!" Numbuh 2 said in agreement, leaning over onto the projector and then waving her hand in the air. "They never splash around doing cannonballs!"

"And they never scream real LOUD!" Numbuh 3 added, jumping up from the chair and screaming the last word so loudly Hillary covered her ears and Willie looked away and at the ground.

"Or dunk each other under the water!" Numbuh 4 finished, pushing Kenji to the ground.

"Precisely!" said Numbuh 1, looking up and pounding her right fist into her left hand. Then, with her arms akimbo, and looking around the room, she addressed her teammates, "So, if we're going to put a stop to this adult swim thing, we're going to need a plan." She pointed her index finger in the air. "And I have just-" she continued, but Numbuh 5 cut her off with a whistling sound.

"Numbuh 5 has a plan," he said, pointing to himself with his thumb, "why don't we just go jump in the pool? Who's gonna stop us?" He snapped his fingers.

"Let's do it!" Numbuh 4 said in agreement, and everyone except Nicole (who was trying to maintain control of the situation) cheered and ran out of the room.

"Hey, guys, wait for me," she said weakly, pointing her finger in the air.

Numbuh 2 piloted the other four, who co-piloted the vehicle, through the air with an unusual aircraft called the Coolbus. The vehicle was a school bus with a huge rocket thruster strapped on top, two pairs of legs with feet, a third pair with what appeared to be wings, a pair of thrusters on the back, a fin in front of the huge thruster, a telescope mounted on the hood, a bulldozer's blade attached in front of the grille, the letters KND painted on both sides in white, and the S and H Xed out with a black permanent marker. As they were reaching the swim club, Numbuh 2 grabbed the microphone and announced, "Good afternoon, passengers! This is your captain, Numbuh 2, speaking. It is at this time we would like to request that you...hang onto your underwear!" She cheered and laughed loudly as she and her teammates were suddenly encased by metal tubes, surprising the other four as they were all pushed downard.

The Coolbus ejected five pods made of metal, wood planks, tires, and trash can lids; each with a member of the Kids Next Door inside; and each with a number painted in red on the outside that corresponded to the member's numbuh. The pods fell toward the ground, giving their occupants a rush of adrenaline and making them feel as if their hearts were falling into their stomachs, and landed outside the swim club. Numbuhs 2-5 hit spots surrounding a sign that read "TEPID WATERS SWIM CLUB" in enormous blue letters and "PLEASE SUPERVISE ALL CHILDREN" in smaller black letters below that, while Numbuh 1's pod crushed that sign.

The KND members were ejected from their pods, each wearing swimwear. Hillary had a tan bikini, pink swim hair ties, and sported a dark blue inner tube with KND in big white letters (with her helmet and goggles still on); Kenji wore a green rash guard and black swim trunks; Willie wore an orange one-piece swimsuit and black swim hair ties; Alberto had put on a pair of blue swim trunks; Nicole wore a pair of goggles (which gave off a slight yellow glow and were more transparent than her sunglasses) and a red swimsuit with red stripes; and Kenji and Hillary each had a pair of orange floaties on their arms. "Let's get in that pool!" the latter shouted, pointing to the pool in the distance.

They all started running towards it; excited to get in, feel the cool water on their skin, escape the sun's intense heat, and end the overextended swim time for the adults; but little did they know that someone was watching them.

These people were two lifeguards sitting next to each other on a tall white chair, with a red-and-white umbrella giving them the luxury of shade. One had a huge mass of chestnut brown hair covering her eyes, two buffalo horns that jutted out of either side of her head, a long nose, hairy legs, and more yellowish skin; while the other had more pinkish skin, a bald spot and a few red marks on the top of her head, dirty blonde hair surrounding that bald spot, a bushy dirty blonde mustache, walrus tusks that stuck out from below that mustache, and oversized fingers that looked like flippers. Each wore a blue-and-white striped one-piece bathing suit and a matching rash guard, but while the buffalo one went barefoot and had no glasses, the walrus one wore glasses and a pair of red-and-white tennis shoes with dark blue socks. They were prepared for any threats to their over-eleventy-billion-hour adult swim time, ready to press the buttons on either arm of the chair and activate the hidden gadgets to take them out. They saw the five excited kids running toward their domain in the distance, recognizing them from some previous scuffles for the rights of children worldwide, especially one that resulted in their present anatomy that was fresh in their minds (which they were still secretly seething about to no end).

"Ms. Wink?" said the walrus lifeguard to her partner.

"Yes, Ms. Fibb?" the buffalo lifeguard replied.

"Aren't those the Kids Next Door?"

"A dirty batch of ill-behaved children, Ms. Fibb."

"They don't think they're going swimming in our pool, do they, Ms. Wink?"

"Swimming pools are not for filthy children, Ms. Fibb, and besides..." Ms. Wink continued, pointing her finger upward and pressing a button on the chair's right arm, "it is adult swim."

The Kids Next Door continued running towards the pool, thinking they could make it, but the lifeguards were threatening their progress once again. The button Ms. Wink had pressed had caused an electric fence to activate and rise up around the pool. A bunch of kids, including Kendra and Chimpie, oblivious to what was going on, moved out of the way (even Kendra and Chimpie did this despite the Kids Next Door looking identical to a certain group of kids who regularly antagonized Kendra in her and Chimpie's misadventures), while the Kids Next Door noticed the fence and stopped (but not in time to avoid hitting the fence).

The fence electrocuted them and propelled them back, giving off the smell of a barbecue gone wrong and causing their hair to stand up. They groaned and winced in pain, piled on top of each other, as they tried to get up. The lifeguards arrived on their chair (whose umbrella had turned into a propellor) and noticed them, with Ms. Wink saying, "Our sincerest apologies, Kids Next Door, but it is currently adult swim."

"If you'd like to go swimming, you're more than welcome to use the kiddie pool," Ms. Fibb added.

"Kiddie pool!" yelled Numbuhs 2-5 excitedly, dashing off to the kiddie pool. Numbuh 1 just stood there in shock, bewilderment, and annoyance, asking, "Kiddie pool?!"

The lifeguards menacingly leaned into her face. "Kiddie pool," they said in unison.

"Oooohhhhh..." Numbuh 1 said, "kiddie pool." She grinned and laughed nervously as she also dashed off to join her teammates.

The kiddie pool was located on a mound of dirt outside the main pool, with a dead tree nearby and a cactus growing a few yards away on the other side. There was also a white fence marking the border of the club property, which was not very far from the kiddie pool. This pool itself was made of bluish gray plastic, had sea creatures of all types and colors painted on the outside, and had a huge crack on the side facing the dead tree, which created a hole leaking water out by the decaliter. The Kids Next Door were crammed in there with six younger kids who were just playing in there happily; and Numbuh 1 was just standing and fuming at having failed to stop Ms. Wink and Ms. Fibb; while Numbuhs 2, 4, and 5 were trying to get some wiggle room and Numbuh 3 was trying to play Marco Polo with the limited space available to him. After a few minutes of this, Numbuh 1 finally snapped. "KNOCK IT OFF!" she yelled, pushing everyone aside and looking around at them. "Why are we in the kiddie pool?!"

"Because the water's nice and warm?" Numbuh 3 asked, smiling and standing up. Everyone looked down at the water, which was getting contaminated. Getting annoyed at this, Numbuh 4 spoke up and yelled, "Why don't we give these lifeguards a good whooping, Numbuh 1?"

"Because I have a better idea," Nicole said, getting really close to Willie's face and pointing at her. "Kids Next Door..." she put her fists in the air as if getting ready to fight, "battle stations!" She brought her fists close to her face.

Numbuhs 1-5
Battle stations!

The rest of the Kids Next Door followed suit as they called out their numbuhs.

"5!" said Alberto.

"4!" said Willie.

"3!" said Kenji.

"2!" said Hillary.

"1!" they all shouted in unison as Nicole pushed a button on her wrist-mounted contraption.

THE KIDS NEXT DOOR
KID-A-PAULT

A satellite orbiting the planet; made out of wood planks, metal, a mailbox, a light bulb, a table lamp, a screen, and electronic components; flew toward a spot where it could see the swim club from outer space and prepared to fire its beam.

A red laser beam with green rings and orange sparks shot down on Earth, hitting a spot in the grass in the distance from the pool. It kept firing at that spot, growing slightly until a large catapult dropped down. This catapult had four metal legs ending in barrels for feet, a wooden body, two satellite dishes mounted on the shoulders, and a wooden bucket on the back that looked similar to a bulldozer shovel. The KND all stood atop it in a row and observed the fun going on in the pool in the distance, feeling ready to get back at Ms. Wink and Ms. Fibb for their continued oppression of children with all the fury of a thousand suns, especially Numbuh 1. "Kids Next Door...ATTACK!" she yelled, with everyone jumping down into their positions-Numbuh 2 into the shovel, and the rest into chairs inside the catapult.

Numbuh 1 reached upward for a periscope, grabbing it and stating, "Preparing to target." She pulled it down and searched for her target, passing targets placed on several adults in the process. "Almost there..." she continued as she reached the lifeguards and their chair. As she stopped, the targeting system began scanning and locking onto the intended target. "Target locked!" Nicole said triumphantly. "Fire Numbuh 2!"

In the shovel, Hillary sat there and looked around, realizing she was to be the ammo. "Who? Me? Oh no..." she said, but before she could take this in, the catapult fired, and she was off!

Numbuh 2 screamed as she flew through the air at a breakneck speed, whizzing towards the lifeguard chair and banging into it so hard she felt like she had broken her nose. The chair and the three people flew forward until they reached the middle of the pool, where they stopped and they all fell in.

"An inconvenient situation, Ms. Fibb," said Ms. Wink as the chair sunk into the water.

"Most annoying, Ms. Wink," Ms. Fibb responded just before they were submerged, with bubbles coming out from their site of sinking.

But Numbuh 2 didn't share the same fate because of her tube. "Who wants to go swimming?" she called to the others.

All the kids cheered in agreement as they jumped into the pool, excited to finally get their chance in the nice cool water. They all played and raced happily as the rest of the Kids Next Door dismounted the Kid-A-Pault. "Adult swim is over!" Nicole yelled as she led the charge into the pool.

"Come on in, guys! The water's great!" Hillary called to the from inside the water.

But just before they could get to the water, the water formed a huge bubble from underneath. A lot of it was shot upward and displaced (along with some of the people) as everyone swam away to escape this threat. "You know, maybe we should get back to the Kid-A-Pault," Numbuh 1 said as she and her team stood there in shock.

But a laser shot and destroyed the machine, sending a piece of wood flying forward towards the center of the pool. The lifeguards and their chair had reemerged!

The villains stood threateningly over the pool's occupants, firing lasers and tearing up the landscape as everyone continued screaming and running away. "If at first you don't succeed at keeping filthy children out of the pool, Ms. Fibb," Ms. Wink began...

"Try, try again, Ms. Wink," Ms. Fibb finished.

Hillary was fleeing with the rest of the crowd when suddenly she felt a jerk on her arm that shocked her and pulled her away. Nicole, Alberto, and Willie were hiding behind the bushes. "OK, I've got a plan," Numbuh 1 began. "First, Numbuh 3 will..." But Kenji was gone. "Where is Numbuh 3?"

"At the snack bar," Numbuh 4 responded.

"Numbuh 5 ordered nachos," Numbuh 5 added, snapping his fingers.

"Are you guys crazy?!" Numbuh 1 yelled, waving her hands in the air. "We can't eat now!"

Just as she finished, some lasers destroyed the bushes, revealing their location to the evil duo, who looked down upon them threateningly. "I'm afraid that you Kids Next Door won't be swimming today," Ms. Wink started.

"Or ever again," Ms. Fibb finished. They prepared to fire a powerful orange beam from their umbrella, and the Kids Next Door covered their eyes and ears and looked away, anticipating their imminent fatal end. But just as the beam was about to fire, Numbuh 3 appeared with a myriad of snacks in his hands. "Snack time!" he shouted excitedly as he handed Numbuh 2 a pretzel covered in cheese sauce.

"Snack time?" the two lifeguards responded in unison, retracting the beam back into the umbrella.

Numbuh 2 was enjoying her pretzel while Numbuh 3 handed a bowl of nachos to Numbuhs 4 and 5, who excitedly talked about how much they were going to enjoy digging in. The lifeguards lowered their chair as they jumped out, running towards the Kids Next Door and getting ready to enjoy a moment of peace with them. "You guys wanted the ice cream, right?" Kenji asked, handing them two ice cream cones.

"Yeah, thanks," Ms. Fibb said.

"Mmmm, so good," Ms. Wink added as she took them and handed one to her partner. The two began happily devouring their cones.

"My favorite flavor!" Ms. Fibb said between licks.

"Most savory!" added Ms. Wink, also in between licks.

But Numbuh 1 stood there annoyed. "Excuse me, we don't give ice cream cones to the enemy!" she shouted at Numbuh 3 as the latter munched popcorn from a bag. She then calmed down and asked him, "Uhhh, hey, what did you get me anyway?"

"Nothing!" said Kenji, chuckling.

"Nothing...?" Nicole responded in bewilderment, looking around at everyone enjoying their snacks. She noticed the empty seat in the lifeguards' chair, unguarded and unattended. She seized the opportunity to run over and jump in as everyone continued to chow down on their food. "Ah-ha!" she yelled, throwing her hands in the air and then grabbing the levers. "With your Superchair, the Kids Next Door will rule the pool and swim all we want!" She looked at them, briefly taking her left hand off the left lever. "But first, I'm going to get rid of you lifeguards," she continued determinedly, pushing both lever buttons.

These buttons made the cockpit shoot up in the air and rotate 180 degrees, making Numbuh 1 scream as she continued her ascent, then it rotated another 180 degrees and activated a small drill underneath. The drill was extended out as the cockpit spun around again (and Nicole screamed in shock again), making it grow to a much larger size as the chair rose the cockpit to the maximum level and the drill began to spin around. The cockpit plunged into the water, submerging Numbuh 1 and creating a hole in the pool's floor, which grew deeper as the water drained and everyone watched. When this move was done, the cockpit was askew and Nicole looked around, confused as everyone glared angrily at her. "Ahem," a chorus of voices shot at her as their owners looked down upon their destroyed pool.

"So, uh," she began nervously as she looked around again. "Who's going to the kiddie pool?" she asked, trying to act excited. But everyone continued glaring at her. "Anyone?"

The mission had been accomplished, but not in the way the Kids Next Door wanted-the lifeguards were defeated and their chair was out of commission, but all the water had escaped underground and no one-kid or adult-could swim. Oh well. Maybe their next mission could be a success...better luck next time.
