Would That be Okay?

Between Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World. Before Topanga is pregnant with Riley.

Living in New York City was exciting. Topanga loved both her internship with Brown and Elliot and her pre-law classes. Even Cory was enjoying himself more than he'd thought he would, especially as he'd decided to pursue a degree in education.

But it was expensive.

Everything in New York City costs more than they'd thought it would, from food, to clothing, to school supplies. And both her and Cory's parents refused to pay even part of their rent since moving to New York. Granted, their apartment was supposedly cheaper than most places in the city, as their complex was set aside for students and staff from the university.

But the rent was still more than she, Cory, Shawn, or Eric had ever expected. Topanga took all the extra hours from the Brown and Elliot internship that she could, and Cory worked a lot of hours at the university daycare center.

And now Topanga and Cory's first wedding anniversary was coming up, and Topanga didn't know what to do. She'd like to buy something for Cory to celebrate, but how could they afford it? Furthermore, Cory loved to celebrate all their anniversaries by going out. To fancy restaurants like Berelle's, or a causal place like Chubbie's.

Could he truly understand that even that was too expensive right now? Or would he think that it would "all work out for the best" because it was their anniversary?

OOOOOOOOOOOO

"Happy anniversary, Topanga," Cory said to her with a smile that morning. At least neither of them had to work today.

Topanga smiled back at him, but her insides danced in nervousness about what he might do. "Happy anniversary, Cory. I'm glad we've been married for a year."

Cory grinned and covered her with kisses. All the nervousness vanished from her mind as they celebrated their anniversary in their bedroom.

OOOOOOOOOOOOO

Topanga beamed at Cory a couple of hours later. She had no reason to be nervous, as this was the perfect way honor their anniversary. "So, I thought of a place where we could go to celebrate our anniversary this afternoon," he said, beaming at her as well.

Topanga's heart sank. "Cory we've talked about this. We don't have the money to go anywhere this year. I really wish we could but…" she shook her head.

Cory put his warm hands on her shoulders and kissed her. "But what if I found a place that didn't cost anything? Like an afternoon picnic in the park? And we'll make our own sandwiches." Topanga's heart swelled as she pictured them having a private picnic in Central Park. She never should have underestimated Cory's schemes, especially when it came to something as important as one of their anniversaries.

"Would that be okay?" Cory said, his voice full of excitement and hope.

"We'd have to wear coats and hats, as it's getting chilly now that it's November, but I think it would be fine," she said, kissing him.

"I think parks are more meaningful to our relationship than restaurants, anyway," Cory said thoughtfully as he pulled the bread and lunch meat out of the refrigerator. "We met at the monkey bars, and I gave you your engagement ring there, too." He picked up her hand to kiss both her engagement ring and her wedding ring.

Topanga nodded. Cory could be so sentimental, especially for a man, and it made her heart explode with love. "Your right."

"And there was the time we gave each other grass rings on the playground, too," Cory said, still caressing Topanga's wedding rings.

"Oh, Cory."
