Zoe propped an elbow onto the counter beside the cash register with a sigh. Friday mornings were always the slowest. The brunette sighed louder attracting the attention of her co-worker: Pepper.

Pepper leaned against the counter facing her friend. "Sheesh, what's got you down."

"I barely got any beauty sleep!" Zoe complained, "All I could think of was my photo shoot tomorrow."

"And why is that my problem?"

"Can't I just vent, Pepper?"

"Sure, but I'm pretty sure we're out of venti cups." The silver haired women snickered.

"Hilarious." Zoe rolled her eyes.

The brunette looked up when the doorbell broke her trance. Through her tired vision, she watched a short man wearing an orange sweater walk in.

"Oh, boy." Pepper whispered, "Don't look now, but Mr. Boring's here. You got this one, right?"

Zoe sighed, "Sure." Zoe gave a quick smile to the man, "Hello, Ferguson. I take it that you want that black coffee?"

"You know it, Zoe."

Zoe picked up one of the empty cups and jotted his name down, "You know, Russell, if you keep coming in with that order, I'll start making it before you get here."

"I'll... keep that in mind." Russell smiled.

"I hope so." Zoe winked. "I'll be back in a minute."

Russell smiled and took a seat nearby. Finally able to answer all the notifications on his phone, and Vinnie's call- oh, boy. "Hey, Vinnie."

"Sooooo, did you ask her out yet?"

"What? No! I already told you that we're friends! Not even that- we're colleagues at most."

"Pshh, did you see the way she looked at you last Thursday? She digs you, man!"

Russell scoffed. "I'm hanging up."

"What? No, don't-"

Russell pressed "end call" and brought his fingers to the brink of his nose. When will he get off his tail? Sure, Zoe was a nice person and pretty, but into him. Sometimes he wondered what goes on in Vinnie's brain- if he even had one.

"One black coffee for Ruffles!"

Rolling his eyes, Russell stood up and walked to the counter. "What did I say about spelling and pronouncing my name wrong, Zoe?"

Zoe smirked, "I can't recall, Darling. Stop by later and maybe you can teach me again."

"Or I could tell you now. It's spelled R-U-S-"

Zoe rolled her eyes, "Darling, I can spell. Just come by at lunch; I'll give you a free coffee cake." She bribed.

"I don't know…" Russell glanced behind Zoe to see her silver haired co-worker make a forward motion with her hands, as if telling him to go for it. Even her! Geez… "Al… Alright. I'll be here around 1pm?"

"I'll be looking forward to it."
