Russell stared out the windows to the alley as the rain hit the glass. Sure, sunny days are the best, but rainy days are perfect for reading and movies. The hedgehog sighed in content as he heard the pitter-patter of the raindrops before resuming his reading. Nothing could ruin- CRASH! BOOM!

"Ahh! What was that?"

The hedgehog searched for the shrill voice to find Zoe shaking in her dog bed. He huffed with an eye roll. So much for peace and quiet.

"It was just thunder, Zoe." The hedgehog assured.

"Oh, right." She chuckled nervously before laying back down. Until a thunderous wave rolled over again, and the canine quickly ran over to Russell's bed. The purple spaniel nudged the hedgehog's bed. "Um, Russell?"

Russell groaned and set his book down to get a better look at her. "What is it, Zoe?"

"Could I maybe… hop in?"

"And why would I let you do that?"

Another wave of thunder hit, and Zoe began to shake like a leaf. "Because of that!"

Russell sighed again, not partially wanting to cuddle, and moved over. "Hop in."

Zoe wagged her tail and laid beside the hedgehog- making sure to snuggle close for comfort. She hummed softly as the warmth blocked out the frightening uproar. Russell began to find it hard to focus as Zoe nuzzled into his side. The warmth and rustling began to allure him to sleep; gently setting his book down, Russell began to lay down to cuddle. The beat of the rain, thunder, and Zoe's soft barks and hums creating a nice song to fall asleep to.
