Uraraka's brain hurts...

Gai had a wife?!? Since when?? What do mean 'three weeks ago'!? She looked to Hirooki and saw she didn't look fazed... she knew?!?? And she still wanted to go for Gai!??

Needless to say.. it was a very interesting two weeks...

"Is everyone ready? We'll be called out soon." Gai asked the class, a resounding yes was his answer.

"Mirai.."

"Oh Todoroki, how can I help you?" The giant asked looking to his dual-haired classmate. "I think... objectively I am stronger than you."

"I've noticed All Might has had his eye on you, I'm not going to pry into that, but... I will beat you." Todoroki finished, a steely look in his eyes.

"Woah what's with the declaration of war??" Kaminari called out.

"Hey, man, why pick a fight now!? We're about to go on..." Kirishima placed a hand on Todoroki's shoulder only to get brushed off. "I don't care, I'm not here to make friends; I'm here to be a hero."

"Todoroki... I don't know why you felt the need to tell me this, but I'm not gonna pretend you're wrong. You are stronger than me, I can't make explosions from my hands or ignore the laws of gravity with a single touch, I only have my raw physical strength... Todoroki you said you'll beat me right? Fine, the only thing I can say is..." Gai stood to his full height, lifting his shoulders up and straightening his back, he gave off a feeling of power... he almost looked like...

"Watch yourself, because I'll be coming at you with all I have." Gai said knocking everyone out of their trance. "Alright, let's get moving, it's time to show the world what 1-A can do." Gai finished while rolling up the sleeves of his new specially designed gym shirt, it was far larger than his original one allowing him to, y'know, actually wear it. The gym shirt was made to look more like a coat if he was being honest, the ending of it being around where his knees are, due to this, it had no zipper, but there were some buttons should he ever want to cover up.

After finishing his speech and giving back the microphone to a very embarrassed Midnight (who winked at Gai before he grabbed the mic with his left hand and showed her the wedding band on his finger.) They were to participate in an obstacle course.

"Racers, to your positions.." The voice of Present Mic echoed. "... START!!"

And they were off! Todoroki started it out by freezing the people in the entrance, as it was the first obstacle, many of class 1-A, few of Class 1-B, and even fewer of the other courses made it through.

"And Todoroki of 1-A has taken the advantage by freezing the competition at their feet!" Those who passed Todoroki's sneak attack were faced with an entirely new problem: Robots. "So these are the 0 pointers the hero course had to fight, wish they were a bit more threatening..."

"Especially because dear old dad is watching."

Todoroki raised his hand, freezing the 0 pointers up front in the process. "He stopped 'em! We can get through the gap!"

"I wouldn't recommend it, I froze them in unstable positions..."

"...So they'd fall." And with that the 0 pointers came crashing down. "Todoroki's at it again, busting through and sabotaging at the same time! Man that's cold!!"

"Amazing! He's way ahead of the pack, this almost feels... unfair!" Many of class 1-A had passed through in different ways. Bakugo, Sero, and Tokoyami had gone over the 0 pointers and avoided them all together, Yaoyorozu had created a cannon and shot them down for the rest, and Gai... well he had taken an interesting approach to the task at hand...

*froooom*

"Woah! What the hell was that!?" A student shouted. "Holy crap, i-it was him!" Another pointed to Gai who had his right arm stretched out and multiple destroyed robots in his wake, it appears he preformed something close to a lariat and just kept running, causing any and all robots in his way to have their heads torn clean off. 'Now that Idon't have the stamps on me, I'm as light as a feather!' He thought before becoming blur to the other students.

"So the Robo inferno was a piece of cake? Well how about this! Fall and you're out! You're gonna have to crawl if you wanna make it!! This is The Fall!"

'How expensive was this?' Gai thought using every muscle in his legs to hop across the pillars fairly easily. "The leads keep breaking ahead, while the rest of the pack is bunched up!"

"Our racers don't know how many will get move on, so all they can do is aim for the top!" Present Mic yelled while Gai started jogging pass the other contestants. "And our leader has reached the final barrier! That is to say... this minefield! It's a deadly afghan carpet!! A quick glance is enough to reveal the mine's locations! So keep both eyes open and watch your step!!"

'A minefield? I wonder how long it is... maybe a running start could...' Keeping his thought process, Gai decided to run at his full speed causing him to appear as a blur before jumping over three quarters of the entire minefield and sliding against the rest of the way like a baseball player going for the last base, explosions popping behind him in his wake. "Holy crap, what was that!?!"

"It appears 1-A's Mirai has used his physical strength to his advantage and passed the minefield.." Aizawa called out tiredly from his microphone, as he didn't have a voice enhancing quirk like his fellow teacher. "That's amazing!! Looks like we have a new leader! Get excited, mass media! You guys love this kind of turnaround!!"

Todoroki looked up in surprise, while Bakugo simply grit his teeth. 'I didn't wanna try this so early dammit! I haven't tested it out, but I won't just settle for something as lame as third place!!' Bakugo landed on the ground and started running with his hands interlocked. 'Not yet, not yet... NOW!'

Bakugo spun on the spot and faced behind him, his hands no longer interlocked and revealing that they had an orange glow to them. "SPECIAL MOVE: THUNDEROUS TREMOR!!" Bakugo shouted, and with a clap of his hands, made a huge inclosed explosion causing him to fly pass Todoroki and sending in anyone is close proximity away from him.

"Looks like we got another surprise!! 1-A's Bakugo has also passed the minefield with his explosive art!"

Gai looked behind him and saw Bakugo close by, stumbling but catching up. "That was amazing Bakugo!" The ash blonde simply clicked his tongue, but smiled all the same. "For you, maybe! It ain't perfect and I had to use a lot of sweat, so I won't be making any explosions for a while." Gai nodded his head and continued moving, Bakugo at his right.

"Well who could have expected such a turn of events? The one who made it back to the stadium first is... non other than Mirai Gai!!" Gai covered his eyes from the blinding light with Bakugo running behind him, panting but still up and ready. "And Bakugo Katsuki in close second!!" The crowd cheered for the two front runners, Gai turned to Bakugo and offered his fist to him, Bakugo looked to his own hand before lifting it up and bumping it with Gai's. The cheering crowd started roaring at the sportsmanship between the boys.

"Mirai, are you... All Might's illegitimate child or something..?"

Gai stared at Todoroki for a good 2 minutes before he started chuckling, which turned into soft laughter. "Oh man, how did you come up with that?" He laughed again before slumping his shoulders and sighing. "But to answer your question... yeah? I wouldn't call myself 'an illegitimate child' though.." Gai looked at a surprised Todoroki and continued. "I'm not denying that I'm his child, but I'd prefer it if you didn't see it that way. He hasn't been a father to me in 10 years."

"My past name was Yagi Izuku, the oldest child of the great All Might and Lady Wavelink. I think it was when my sister had turned four, her quirk wasn't coming in as fast as the rest of the kids so we went to a quirk doctor, there we found out that she indeed had a quirk, a strong one too, but I was revealed to be quirkless. I was almost five at the time so as you can tell, it wasn't really my best of times."

Gai looked up in remembrance. "After that they started to ignore me, well not really ignore, more like forget me. But it's okay! I learned a bunch of new things like: how to cook, how to sew, how to best exercise, how to take care of a cat, all sorts of stuff! I worked hard, I got a job with this nice family, found a good living place, and even fell in love!" Gai said happily showing his wedding band. "So yeah, it wasn't the best life -I'm sure there are worse- but I think I can confidently say I'm thankful for mine!"

Todoroki was shocked beyond belief. He never knew that Gai had it so rough, and he still had a smile on his face! He looked down at his left hand, what was he doing all this time? He had been trying to rebel against his father all this time while Gai had simply walked pass All Might and his terrible childhood, where he'd been stuck in the past Gai had taken to the future.

"I think we got off on the wrong foot." Gai spoke and stuck his hand out. "When we get in the ring let's go all out alright? No family blood, no legacy, no forefathers business, no nothing. Just you and me, on the battlefield okay?" He asked with a uncharacteristically big smile on his face. Todoroki looked up at him, an important memory flooding his mind... yet.. incomplete...

"But you still want to be a hero, right...?"

'What came after that..?'

"We'll see." Todoroki huffed shaking Gai's hand. "Great! See you on the field!" Gai said before realizing that they both had to go the same way.

"Hey, hey! All the girls have to take part of the cheer squad after lunch! Like them, over there!" Mineta said confidently with Kaminari at his side. "No one told us about that..." Yaoyorozu replied. "Don't believe me? Whatever, it's your loss..."

"Aizawa-Sensei told us about it himself." The girls were slowly becoming more and more convinced until. "Is that so?" A large shadow loomed over both boys, they slowly turned to see Gai giving them a disappointed look that caused them to look down in shame. "Girls listen, Shota has been asleep for the entirety of the lunch break."

"Shota?"

"Aizawa-Sensei."

"Ohhh.."

"It's the first match!" Present Mic's voice echoed out. "It's the gentle giant and caretaker of 1-A, Mirai Gai!!"

"Caretaker? Where'd that come from?" Gai's question was pointedly ignored. "Versus... sorry, but this guy hasn't really done anything to stand out yet! It's Shinso Hitoshi, from the general studies!!"

"The rules are simple! Win by knocking your opponent out of the ring, immobilizing them or getting them to say 'I give up'!" He explains. "Bring the pain! We've got our good old Recovery Girl on standby!! And fight dirty if you must! 'Ethics'have no meaning here!!"

"Well, of course, going for the kill is a no-no! You'll be disqualified! Because a true hero's fist fly only in pursuit of villains!"

"'I give up' huh? Get it, Mirai? This battle is going to test your strength of will... if you got any kind of vision for your future, there's no sense in worrying about how you get here."

"Now let's get this thing started!!" Present Mic yelled getting the crowd excited. "Like that monkey,blabbing about his stupid pride." Shinso muttered causing something to click in Gai's mind. "Readyyyyyyyyy!!
... START!" Before Shinso could react he felt a hand grab the entirety of his face and push him out the ring.

"Shinso is out of the ring, Mirai moves onto the next round!" Shinso stayed on the ground silently cursing. "Shinso.." He looked up. "Why do you wanna be a hero?"

"... we can't choose the things we naturally admire.." He replied standing up. "Shinso.." The lavender haired boy looked back. "If you never improve yourself, you'll never become the thing you admire most."

"Then... what do I do?"

"Train, train your body, train like your life depends on it... what I just did in this fight, it was only my physical strength." Shinso looked at Gai shocked before nodding. He turned away and started walking away, the crowd gave him a roaring applause, no one had ever thought a general Ed student could have made it so far.

"Maybe... maybe I failed this time, but I'm not giving up! I'll show them I've got what it takes to be in the hero course, and I'll become a greater hero than all of you."

"I'm looking forward to it."

The next couple of matches ended a little faster then expected. Todoroki froze over Sero and almost half the stadium, a girl with vines for hair named Shiozaki immobilized Kaminari after he overused his quirk, Izumi used her telekinesis to make Iida so fast he fell out the ring, Ashido had overwhelmed Aoyama with her speed and uppercut him in the face, Tokoyami never gave Yaoyorozu a chance. Immediately ending the fight with two blows.

Gai stood up. "Huh, Gai where you going?" Uraraka asked. "Oh, I'm just gonna cheer up my vice!" Gai said with a thumbs up.

Finding Yaoyorozu was a little harder then expected, but he found her soon enough sitting at a bench with a disappointed look on her face. "Heya, Yaoyorozu!" She jumped from not noticing him before due to how quiet he was. "O-oh Mirai-San! How can I help you?"

"Nothing, how are you feeling?" Yaoyorozu blinked owlishly. "What?"

"How are you feeling?" Gai repeated. "You seemed really down after your fight with Tokoyami." She winced at the memory. "I... I don't know.."

"I.. just thought I was better than this.. perhaps it's because I was raised to be the best." Yaoyorozu looked at her lap. "I feel like.. I've disappointed my family, I've placed disgrace on the Yaoyorozu name.."

"Oh Yaoyorozu..." Gai said soothingly. "It's okay to fail sometimes, I know it's hard to accept failure but it shouldn't be impossible. As long as you get back up every time! Fall seven times and stand up eight, y'know? And well, if it means anything.." Gai placed a hand on Yaoyorozu's head. "I'm proud of you!" He exclaimed with a wide smile on his face. Yaoyorozu stared at Gai with awe, he radiated the energy of a proud father watching his child take their first steps.

"Come on, let's head back." Yaoyorozu snapped out of her thoughts. "O-oh okay!" And they started heading back. "There's a vending machine close by, what do you wanna drink? I'll buy it for you." She thought for a bit. "Green tea is fine."

"Alrighty then."

Uraraka's match with Bakugo was... far less violent then most of 1-A expected, with the only exchange between them being:

"Oi, Round face, just because we were on Double G's (gentle giant) team, doesn't mean I'll go easy on you."

"I wouldn't have it any other way, Bakugo!"

The battle was mostly Uraraka getting too close for comfort, and Bakugo blasting himself away. He did go on the offensive more then once, but he generally kept his distance.

"He taught you a lot, but it makes no difference!" Bakugo yelled before releasing a strong explosion, sending her to the edge of the ring. He charged towards Uraraka not noticing the grin on her face. "Gotcha."

Uraraka placed her finger tips together and dropped something a kin to- "A meteor storm!!" Present Mic shouted in shock. Bakugo, who was still airborne, decided to fly in the gaps of the falling rocks, he was still injured but not as much as he would have been.

"Uraraka is unable to continue, Bakugo moves onto the third round!" Bakugo looked down from his spot in the sky to see Uraraka with a couple of injuries from her own attack. "A suicide attack? Smart but she didn't think of the aftermath.." Slowly, he brought himself back on land and went to Recovery Girl for his injuries.

"You ready?"

"I should be asking you that!" Gai replied with a grin on his face.

"START!"

Todoroki shot a wave of ice, which Gai stopped with a kick. 'I won't be able to get close if we just do this..' Gai decided to run towards Todoroki, appearing in a flash. Todoroki immediately pushed Gai away with a strong wall of ice, he then sent another wave of ice, which Gai stopped again. This cycle continued, Gai would get too close, Todoroki would push him away and attack, and Gai would charge in again.

The audience had been fairly uninterested at the stand still before noticing something unexpected, Gai... had a large smile on his face this entire time! His smile, matched with his strong punches, gave him an uncanny resemblance to the No.1 hero. Todoroki was no different, his serious face and long range attacks reminded many of his father.

Todoroki sent a larger wave of ice while hiding behind it, once Gai had broken the ice Todoroki jumped out for an up close attack. "Wrong move!" Gai said dodging Todoroki's hand and punching him in the gut, sending the candy cane boy flying. "Come on, Todoroki! What are you doing!? What happened to our agreement?!? Stand up!" Gai's smile started to fade. "If you stop now then what was the point!?? You came here to be a hero, didn't you!?!"

"But you still want to be a hero, right..?"

Todoroki stopped.

"That's fine, you're not... bound to his blood."

"You decide... who you want to become."

'When... did I ever forget that...?' Todoroki's body combusted into flames, Gai's smile came back tenfold. "Incredible.."

"I thought you wanted to win, damnit.." Todoroki called out. "So why're are you trying to inspire me? Quit screwing around!"

"But.. what you said earlier, I... wanna be a hero!" The two exchanged grins.

"What's with that smile on your face? With all this fighting.. you must be exhausted right? You're crazy.." Todoroki looked up, his serious demeanor returning. "It's not my problem what happens now."

Both of Todoroki's sides started powering up, Gai had to think fast. 'I'll have to go at his right side, getting frostbite is better than burning alive, although.. the temperature changed will be painful either way.' With that plan on mind, Gai charged full speed to Todoroki's right, unfortunately he wasn't fast enough. Gai could only block his face and hope for the best. "Mirai... thank you.."

*BOOOOOM*

"What the- what is up with your class!?" Present Mic (who was getting back to his seat after falling out of it) shouted. "All that chilled air was heated in an instant, making it expand." Aizawa explained.

"What a blast, though.. and what heat! I can't see anything... has the match been decided?"

Midnight clicked her tongue and waited till the smoke cleared and showed Gai was still standing, burn marks and frostbite all over his body, but still standing! Though there was something far more interesting about the gentle giant.. his right arm...

Gai's arm revealed to be covered in black with elaborate markings in deep magenta, his forearm was transformed into something resembling a shield. Slowly the shield slimmed down to normal, though his arm didn't change. "What.. what the hell was that...?" Gai gasped in a whisper.

"Incredible.." Gai looked up and saw Todoroki on his last leg. "Mirai, you truly are.. Incredible..." Todoroki fell forward, unconscious.

"Todoroki is unable to continue... Mirai moves onto the third round!"

"Your arm is completely fine, whatever that thing was, it saved you from severe damage." Recovery Girl informed while Gai looked at his now normal hand. "Thank you Chiyo."

"It's no problem, just try not to give me a heart attack next time." Gai chuckled "I'll try not to." His eyes sharpened. "Now Toshinori, mind telling me what tha-"

"MIRAI!" Gai turned to the door and softened his eyes, it was a handful of his classmates! "Oh hey, you'll miss the next round if you stay here y'know."

"The area was mostly destroyed, so there's been a break while it's being repaired." Iida explained and Gai nodded. "That was seriously scary, Mirai. I thought you were gonna die!" Mineta stated, only to get slapped with Asui's tongue. "Can't say I like your immediate-crisis style."

"You know I'm right though."

"Hey, hey! It's fine look." Gai reassured, waving his right arm to show he had no lasting injuries. He threw a few punches in the air, making small, almost unnoticeable shock waves. 'Well that's different.' Gai thought before moving his classmates out. "We'll talk about this later, Toshinori." He said sharply, his response was a hurried nod.

"START!!"

'Her telekinesis is strong, but she can't do anything if she can't see me.' Gai disappeared from Izumi's eyes and slammed his fist into her gut, sending her out the ring. "Yagi is out-of-bounds, Mirai moves to the final round!"

"It's Bakugo versus Tokoyami! And Bakugo's unstoppable!!" Present Mic shouted. "Tokoyami's come this far with a series of wing attacks thanks to his near invincible quirk, but.. now he's totally on the defensive! He can't even get close!!"

"C'mon Tokoyami! Your attacks against us were crazy strong!" Ashido called out. "Are we missing something?" Asked Yaoyorozu.

"He's weak against light." Gai stated. "Bakugo knows this, they were on our team. It's why I had Bakugo in the back, he could give us speed and Tokoyami on the front, for defense." Right on cue, Bakugo pined Tokoyami down and Tokoyami admitted defeat.

"If you want to beat him easier, I recommend using flash bombs Yaoyorozu." The vice president nodded while silently cursing herself for not thinking of that. "And Ashido.. try not to get caught up in the crowd." The pink girl nodded, embarrassed at the advice.

"Tokoyami has surrendered, Bakugo moves to the final round!" Midnight announced with her left hand in the air.

"Looks like our final match is set. Mirai versus Bakugo!!"

"At last, we've arrived!! The best of the best among U.A's first years will be decided! It's... Mirai versus Bakugo!!"

"Now, START!!"

Bakugo charged full speed at Gai, who swiftly to the left preparing to attack his liver. "Not this time!" Bakugo shot an explosion to propel himself higher in the air, using the height to his advantage, he shot another explosion in Gai's face.

"Nice move." Gai called from the smoke before performing an axe kick and slamming Bakugo into the ground. Gai then picked up Bakugo by the back of his shirt and threw him out the ring.

"I ain't going out that easy!" Bakugo shouted, sending himself back into the ring before touching the ground with explosions. "Watch this." Bakugo smirked and flew past Gai, the giant turned to face Bakugo only to see his hands close together. "Stun Grenade!!" A large flash of light blinded Gai, this was Bakugo's only chance.

Bakugo flew up in the air, shifting his body with each explosion. "It's now or never, Izuku!!"

"HOWITZER IMPACT!!"

*BOOOOM!!*

...

..

.

"Amazing as always, Katsuki." The smoke cleared revealing Gai with the odd arm returning again, his hand was wrapped around the collar of an unconscious Bakugo. "You've come so far from that reckless kid I once knew... I'm proud of you."

"... Bakugo is unable to continue so... Mirai is the winner!!"

"That concludes our contest! The first year winner of U.A's Sports Festival is... Mirai Gai of class 1-A!!"
