Chapter One: Real in Rio

The sun was beginning to rise over the big city that was Rio de Janeiro, and this day was no ordinary day. It was the day where the biggest party in the world would start. The party known as Carnaval.

Once the day started, the birds of Rio's jungle began to chirp, then they began moving, shaking, dancing, and singing! Macaws, toucans, flamingos, and all kinds of other birds were up and having fun singing to the celebration.

Singing "Real in Rio"

As everyone was still partying, there was another bird who started to wake up from his nest. A young blue macaw hatchling. As he began to feel the rhythm, he woke up with smiles, and came up dancing and looking at the crowd of party birds. He gave a determined look, and opened his wings, planning on flying and joining the party. He was happy and ready to start…until one of the birds got caught in a net, then the smaller birds got caught too, but in cages. So one by one, more of the birds got caught by nets, cages, mussels, traps, and anything that shocked the young hatchling.

Speaking of which, as he saw the many surprises, he noticed some other birds flying past him trying to escape, and from that distraction, the little hatchling fell off the hollow of his tree, and landed hard on the jungle grounds. Then when he got up, everything was quiet. There were no birds in his sight, no singing or dancing animals anywhere. Then he looked up, and saw another cage coming right at him, but even through that great surprise, he quickly ran, and was able to hide in a bush behind his tree.

He shook and chirped out of fear, and also made a sigh of relief because he was out of sight. He quietly moved towards the opening of the bush, and stopped as he noticed a foot thumped down. He saw a group of ruthless smugglers right in front of his hiding spot, and saw them carrying all the birds that they captured. The hatchling was still scared but did his best to hide and not join them.

He was so scared that he decided to stay there and rest, and wait for his parents. But as he just laid there for hours, it started to get dark, and when he woke up, there still weren't any birds around, especially his parents. He walked out of the bush, grateful that the smugglers were gone but was scared because of his missing parents.

He continued to chirp out of fear, but then heard some music again from a very far distance. His fear was replaced with curiosity as he decided to walk up to the source. It seemed like forever, but he found it. It was dark out, but from the edge of the jungle, the blue chick saw the beautiful luminous city that was Rio. As he was staring at the city, he saw all the natives too.

He just kept thinking about how funny they looked. What he remembered was that his parents talked a little bit about humans, but what he was seeing was a lot of humans dressed up in the celebration for Carnaval.

To his eyes everyone was dancing, drinking sodas, singing, and doing anything that reminded the chick of what happened this morning. At first he was nervous because he thought it was like some sort of reenactment, but settled down as he saw that everything was fine, so he danced with the fun. Nobody ever saw him as he was joining the party. He stood his ground in the jungle but still enjoyed himself.

As he was watching everyone, he noticed a group of kids talking to each other at a restaurant table outside. He slowly walked towards them and listened to what they were talking about.

"Hey, did you guys see the match last week?" Said one of the guys, and the rest all laughed.

They were talking about a little wrestling match they all saw on TV, and once they continued, the chick kept trying to listen. Since he was away from his parents and couldn't talk, he thought he could learn by himself.

"S-S-Sur-Survive?" He began. "F-Fu-Fun?" He kept trying and trying all night to listen to and mimic those kids. So far, he got it down. "Sur-Survive, but have fun. Live your life."

He was still progressing as he left the city, and found a new place to sleep. He could see that he could talk so far, but then just wanted to sleep and wake up tomorrow hoping that he could do more without his parents before they returned. If they would return.

And that is how this AU begins.

June 17, 2024

Hello everyone! It's me C again, and before this story continues, I have something new and important to announce. I want to say thank you to everyone who has been waiting patiently, and apologize to everyone for the fact that I've been taking so long. Half of 2024 has almost passed, and I haven't shared a new fanfiction chapter since March.

You may remember that I said I would work on editing and then republishing/reestablishing "Rio: A New Kind of Story" and every other story I published in the same order as before. So far I'm still doing that, but because of how long I'm taking, I've figured out how to do it differently.

Today, I have published only Chapter 1 of "New Kind of Story." Later on, I'm gonna publish more, but before it is finally finished, I'm also gonna publish the first chapters of…

A Rio Restart

Ask C and C's Adventures

Rio: A New Kind of Century

Etc.

I'm going to publish the first chapters of each story at a time. That way, nobody will have to wait so long for me to finish one story. That makes sense, right? It'll be like how it was done before. If so, I hope it's a good plan and that you guys will again enjoy what I have to share. Just remember that while I'll try to make the stories feel the same, they're still gonna have some differences.

E. G. "Ask C" will be changed into a format that will be a traditional story of fiction and still be a Q&A series without breaking the site's rules. Plus, the MLP/Hunchback of Notre Dame parody "Out There" will merge with "My Little Disney Pony." That, and many more. And even with the changes, I hope you will all still love the stories themselves. As for any other news I wanna make, one of the things I can say is that despite my absence, there will be times again where I want to take more breaks from too many social media activities. Just know that you'll be aware of what new thing I share when you see it.

One more thing, for everyone who has shared a question or wants to share a new one, just know that I will spread my status updates in other areas, and by the time I publish Chapter 53 or finish with every story I have in mind, this little message will be deleted. Thank you, and have a great one!
