Casper was floating around through the streets. He had a school backpack over his shoulders because he had school. He went to school so he could learn how to be a proper ghost. Casper, however, didn't wanted to be a proper ghost because he didn't felt like it. Instead of scaring the humans, he wanted to befriend with them. Of course, things would get out of hand as the humans were scared of him despite not actually scaring them. They were afraid of him because he was a ghost. He usually get picked on for his friendly nature, especially from his uncles, who were the opposite of him.
As Casper continued his way, he was unaware that he was being watched from the distance. There were three teenage ghosts. They were watching him.
"I wonder what that little kid is up to?" Asked Astrid, the only female of the group. Her other two friends, Torquil and Shade, were also curious.
They saw that Casper stopped at a garden. He looked at the flowers and saw a butterfly landing on a flower. The butterfly noticed him and flew away. At first, he was sad but he understood that the butterfly wanted to be alone and smiled.
The teenagers looked irritated. They realized Casper was nothing but a friendly ghost.
"His smile makes me sick. Especially to a butterfly." Commented Torquil.
"Can't believe he didn't even scared it." Added Shade.
The teenagers were thinking of a plan of how to make fun of him. They were the kind of ghosts who loved scaring and bullying others. They secretely followed Casper, analyzing his next movements.
As Casper reached his school, the teenagers realized he had school and they couldn't enter in.
"We'll wait until he finishes his school day so we can show him the ways of being a true ghost." Said Astrid with an evil smile. Torquil and Shade agreed of the plan.
"Then he won't smile again!" Commented Torquil. The teenagers laughed.
As Casper finished his school day, he wad ready to go home. He was unaware of what was happening at the moment.
He was floating his way home, taking the same path as before. He was lost in thoughts before he bumped into the teenagers, who looked at him darkly. The young ghost looked up, surprised by their faces.
"Hi! I don't think we have met before. I'm Casper." Greeted Casper, trying to sound positive. The teenagers, however, weren't responding and were still glaring at him.
"Um, do you want to be friends?" Casper nervously asked. The teenagers scoffed at the question.
"Friends? What a joke!" mocked Astrid. The teenagers start laughing, much to Casper's confusion and worry.
"Why are you like this?"
"You should be careful of who are you talking to, little runt. We don't take kindly to "softy" ghosts." Sneered Torquil. Casper was about to leave because he didn't wanted any more conflict. However, Shade grabbed his arm.
"Where do you think you are going? We aren't done with you yet!" Shade then pinched Casper's arm very hard, causing the young ghost to yelp in pain before letting him go.
The teenagers laughed at this while Casper sniffled a bit in pain before floating away.
The young ghost arrived at his home, the Whipstaff Manor. He stood at the entrance because he didn't wanted to enter in, yet. He knew his uncles would mock him, like they always did.
"I won't let my uncles see this." Casper covered the pinch mark with his hand and floated inside.
The Ghostly Trio was at the living room, watching TV. Casper entered the room and approached his uncles.
"Hi." He greeted them timidly. The Trio turn around, not too happy to see him.
"Look who decided to show up!" Stretch spoke up first, with a sly grin on his face. "How was school, Bulbhead?"
Casper hoped his uncles wouldn't notice his hand.
"It was fine. Same as usual." Stretch noticed his hand that covered his pinch mark.
"What's with the hand, eh?" Casper's face panicked, as he realized it just happened.
"It's nothing, Uncle Stretch." The young ghost smiled sheepishly.
"Oh yeah, Short-Sheet?" Stretch got closer to Casper and removed his hand, revealing his pinch mark. "What's this, then?"
Casper was unsure of what to respond. He always thought his uncles wouldn't care about him and his well-being. So he tried to come up with an excuse in hopes that his uncles would believe him.
"I, uh, tripped on something on the way home and fell. That's all." Said Casper.
Stretch narrowed his eyes and looked at his nephew skeptically. He felt like his nephew was lying as this wouldn't happen in this way.
"So ya just tripped and fell? Fine, but be careful next time. Ya don't want ta get hurt yaself, don't ya?" Said Stretch slyly.
Casper let out a sigh of relief as Stretch turned his attention back to the TV. The young ghost then floated to his room. He retrieved a plasture from a drawer and put it on his pinched arm. After he was done, he started to think about what happened earlier.
"I wonder why those teens were so mean to me. I didn't do anything to them."
His mind was swirling with questions and confusion. He would have told his uncles about that but he wasn't sure what their reaction would have be. They were usually being bossy and mean to him, as he was the one who did all of the chores of the manor. He never wanted to be scary, like his uncles were, so that's why they were treating him like that
As the day had passed, Casper was still in his room. He never came out since then as he preferred to be alone. Suddenly, Stretch burst the door open which it startled Casper.
"Ey, Short-Sheet, watcha been doin' 'ere all day?" Stretch asked mockingly.
"I was just... thinking... of stuff" The young ghost answered nervously. The older ghost bursted of laughing before his face turned darker and sternly.
"How about ya stop slacking off and MAKE THE GRUB ALREADY!"
Casper quickly flew out of his room to make the usual meal for his uncles.
After the not-so happy dinner, Casper was at his room again. This time, he was lying on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He hoped the next day would be better. He had thought about the teenagers he had encountered during day time. The young ghost questioned himself what made the teens to be mean and why would pick on him. He had hoped he wouldn't encounter them again.
He then turned off the lights and went to sleep.
