Hello everybody! I love Kataang so much! Just want to let you know that this one-shot is not my best, but for now enjoy :)! Please R&R!

Chapter One: Aang asks Katara to marry him.

AVATAR

From the moment Aang set his eyes on Katara, he felt something blossom within his chest. Guaranteed, it took a while for both of them to act on both of their feelings, but once they did, it was as if heaven itself had planted itself on earth.

Every time they saw each other, butterflies formed inside their stomachs as the usual blush came running towards their cheeks. And with every passing day, their feelings towards each other only grew. Aang loved it when Katara kissed him, especially if it was filled with passion. Katara loved it when Aang would wrap his arms around her and hold her as if nobody was watching.

The young avatar's love for her was unquenchable, sometimes he thought that he was unworthy to be called her boyfriend. In those moments of doubt, Katara would comfort and soothe his fears with an unbreakable seal.

Aang wanted to make Katara his forever. Without any reassurance, Aang knew that they were ready for that step. And to be fair, everyone else thought so too when he asked them for either their blessing or advice.

It was a nice autumn morning as the breeze shook windows and leaves that happened to not be attached to anything. On this specific morning, Aang woke up to see Katara cuddled up next to him. It wasn't uncommon for them to share a bed lately, even Sokka and Suki shared a bed occasionally. If Aang and Katara were going to get married, they needed to learn to share a bed anyways.

The young 16-year-old avatar looked down to see his beautiful girlfriend asleep next to him, she had a very content calm look on her face. Aang cupped the side of her face as he gave her a small peck on the cheek. Katara didn't awaken, but she did move her face closer to his. How he got so lucky to find such a breath-taking waterbender, the air nomad would never know.

Aang didn't want to get up, but he knew that he was naturally an early-riser and that his girlfriend understood. It would be weird if he slept in, although he knew that Katara would understand completely. When they were in each other's embrace, neither of them wanted to leave each other.

But today was special, and for that very reason, Aang got up slowly and walked over to the other side of the bed. He gave a small yawn as he kissed his girlfriend on the side of the cheek, he raised the covers and draped it over the waterbender.

Aang grabbed the top of his robes and changed into them. The young avatar didn't enjoy sleeping with a shirt on, so he slept every night shirtless. Katara didn't mind, in fact she found it very brave that he embraced that part of himself. The young avatar gave one small look at his girlfriend before he opened the door.

Today was the day that would change everything, but only if Katara said yes. Ever since the war ended and the duo had kissed, Aang yearned to make it permanent. But their relationship had to grow, plus he was far too young to propose in Katara's culture. But now that he was of the age where most men popped the question, Aang was dying to pop the question himself.

He had already gotten Sokka's approval and Hakoda's blessing. All he had to do now was actually ask Katara…which seemed like the hardest part.

Luckily though, Aang wasn't alone in planning. Sokka and Suki had both agreed to help him plan the proposal. Toph even said that she might or might not grace them with the luxury of her presence.

Aang walked down to the eating area only to see that Sokka and Suki were already eating breakfast, Toph was off to the side sitting on a beanbag.

"Hey guys," Aang said softly, still trying to wake up from his slumber.

"Morning Twinkletoes, Sugar Queen up yet? Toph asked as if she didn't care. But in all reality, Aang knew that Toph probably cared about some things more that none of them had the emotional capacity for.

"No, she's still asleep."

Sokka chuckled. "Katara always used to sleep in at the South Pole. It was so bad that I used a stick to wake her up in the mornings," he grimaced, "that poor stick went through more than I could ever know."

The young avatar smiled as he sat down and indulged in the bowl of rice set in front of him. He looked up. "It was that bad?"

"It was worse than my meat addiction."

"Then it must be bad," Suki added, she grabbed a slab of steak off her boyfriend's plate and giggled when Sokka gave her a sour look.

"Hey!" Sokka groaned.

"Settle down Snoozles, it was a small piece of meat."

"It was my meat though," Sokka grabbed his steak and rubbed it against his cheek, "I'm sorry Mr. Steak."

Suki grimaced. "Well, I'm never kissing that cheek again."

"Speaking of kissing…"

The gang looked at the young airbender, bringing them back to why they were meeting in the first place.

"Oh yeah, you're marrying my sister." Sokka said.

"Yeah…that's kind of why I asked for your help."

Toph chuckled. "I don't know if you're asking the right people twinkletoes. We're lucky if snoozles remembers to put on shoes in the morning."

"Why is everyone attacking me this morning!" Sokka groaned. "I'm just a guy who loves meat. Whats not to love?"

"Well, are you wearing shoes right now snoozles?"

The young nonbender looked down at his feet, which had a pair of blue socks on them, but other than that, his toes were bare as they could be. "Ok, so maybe I'm not wearing them right now. But that doesn't mean I don't wear shoes."

"This isn't about shoes, its about us helping twinkletoes. Which we aren't."

"Well, we were before you filled my buddy with self-doubt!"

The two continued to bicker back and forth, throwing comments about their colleagues, or themselves as a whole. It was a petty battle, one of which wasn't helping the young avatar's situation.

Aang sighed, he was getting nowhere. He was going to propose to the love of his life at sundown but at this pace, Aang was never going to get married. As much as he wanted to have his friends help him, he knew that they couldn't be together and be serious about anything.

Much less plan a whole proposal.

"I'm going to go," Aang said as he got up. Toph and Sokka looked at him and nodded, noticing the sudden damper on their best friend's attitude. The young avatar got up and was about to walk out to the garden when he heard the love of his life come out and ask where he was.

"Where's Aang?" Katara asked, yawning her sleep away.

Her brother only shrugged. "I don't know, you just missed him though."

"No, she didn't."

Katara turned around and saw Aang walk towards her. She went running up to him and gave him a small kiss. "Good morning sweetie!" she said softly.

"Good morning sweetie," Aang responded back as he gave her another kiss. He wrapped his arms around her waist as she leaned her head on his shoulder.

"Ok lovebirds! Take it somewhere else please!"

The young couple internally groaned but walked over to the table. Katara sat down and started to eat the remains of her boyfriend's breakfast since she wasn't too hungry. "So, what's the plan for today?"

The avatar's heart skipped, today as really the big day… and…he had no idea was he was doing. It was stupid of him to even process a reality where Suki, and even her comical boyfriend to help him form a plan for a proposal.

"-ng?"

Aang snapped his head up when his name was mentioned. His girlfriend, who had finished his breakfast, looked at him with a concerned glance. "Everything ok sweetie?"

"Oh yes," Aang grinned, "I'm just thinking."

Katara grabbed his hand and gave a small squeeze. "About what?"

"Oh, it's nothing. Just need to have a small chat with your brother," Aang got up and placed a small kiss on her cheek. "I'll be right back my love." He walked over to Sokka and grabbed his arm, Sokka groaned but gave in to the young avatar.

When they both walked outside towards the garden, Aang allowed himself to panic. "Sokka, I'm supposed to propose to Katara tonight and I have literally no idea what to do!"

Sokka gestured for the young avatar to breathe. "Don't worry buddy, whatever you do, I'll bet that my sister will say yes no matter what."

"I need a plan Sokka, not reassurance!"

"Ok calm down twinkle toes," Aang gave him a stern glare. "Dooly noted, I wouldn't call you that. But still, you know my sister loves everything simple…huh no wonder she fell for you."

"You're just connecting the dots now?"

"Did it really matter before? No, it didn't. Now the only thing that matters is planning a proposal, that my sister will love regardless." Sokka grinned. "Do you have the betrothal necklace?"

The young avatar smiled softly and reached into his pocket. He pulled out a necklace with a small wooden circle that had the air and water tribe symbol mixed together. There was a small green gem sitting on the very top.

Sokka whistled. "Wow Aang, maybe you should go into the necklace industry instead. This looks amazing!"

"Really? I wanted to make it perfect. Like for the gem, I mixed the water tribe colors with our airbender colors. And I hope that the symbol was good, and I really hope she says y-" Aang was starting to hyperventilate and couldn't stop to breathe. So many emotions ran through his blood, he really wanted to propose to her, but he didn't. He was ready, and yet he was far from it.

He wanted Katara to be his forever, but he didn't know how to ask.

Every time Katara talked about her future, she always said how she was so excited for the proposal part. So Aang wanted it to be perfect, even if that seemed impossible at the moment.

"Aang, you need to breathe, or my sister will kill me," Sokka said loudly.

But it was already too late for that.

The moment Katara heard Sokka yelling, she came running towards the duo. Her heart dropped at the sight of her love hyperventilating.

"Aang!" she said loudly as she wrapped him in a hug. "What's wrong?" Katara would've have been a fool if she wasn't aiming that question at her older brother.

The young avatar took in his girlfriend's presence as he brought his head down in the crook of her neck. Katara, who didn't mind, started to worry at the sight of Aang not calming down. She rubbed her hand on his back in comforting circles. "Breathe sweetie. Can you do that for me?"

Taking deep breaths, Aang started to calm down. Leave it to Katara to achieve the impossible. But that still didn't stop the bigger problem, and learning from his previous experience, Sokka and the rest of the gaanng weren't the most helpful people.

He would have to do it on his own.

"There you go," Katara soothed. She placed a kiss on his cheek. "Are you feeling better?"

Aang nodded as he melted into his girlfriend. "Don't leave me," he whispered, making Katara's skin tingle. The young waterbender loved how much affection was put into their relationship. But it was a big day for her, she and Suki were finally going clothes shopping.

"I'm sorry sweetie but I have to get ready to go shopping with Suki. We've planned this day for months." Katara rubbed Aang's back. "Wouldn't you love to see me in new attire?"

"As long as its Sokka approved!" Sokka called out.

Katara ignored her older brother as her boyfriend pulled away. "As long as you're happy, I'm good with anything my love," Aang said softly as he gave her a gentle kiss. The young waterbender gave him one last embrace and ran off to meet Suki for their outing.

"Oh man, I think you love her," Sokka groaned.

"I think I do to," Aang said softly.

"Soooooo whats your plan for the proposal?"

"I don't know, you tell me."

AVATAR

It was starting to be dusk when Katara and Suki returned. But when they opened the door, they found that no one was home. Not even a single note was left behind, all that was left as a half can of some weird liquid Sokka had found in the market.

"Did they leave a note or anything?" Suki asked.

But Katara only shook her head. "Nope nothing. I wonder where they left to in such a late hour."

"Their boys, what aren't they doing?"

"I guess that's true," Katara smiled, "But I do wish that Aang was here."

"Same. I really could use a Sokka cuddle."

Katara smiled knowing how her own boyfriend gave the best snuggles. The way he wrapped his arms around her protectively and gave the best kisses on the planet made her melt at the thought of him.

"Hey Suki?"

"Yes Katara?"

"Do you want Sokka to ask to marry you?" Katara asked. Suki who was sitting down next to her gave a warm smile. "More than anything," she responded. "Do you want Aang to marry you Katara?"

The young waterbender didn't need any time to think. She wanted Aang to be her's forever. But he hadn't asked her, yet Katara would continue to wait patiently. "I would love if he asked me."

"Knowing my own boyfriend, Aang will probably ask before mine. Sokka is a chicken in that sense."

Katara lightly punched Suki in the shoulder. "Sure, my brother may act chicken, but when he's in love…well trust me, you probably wouldn't have to wait for very much longer."

The young warrior chuckled as she threw a nearby pillow at the waterbender. "Yeah right. The moment your brother proposes to me is the moment I'll drop dead."

Katara chuckled but softened when a sudden thought hit her, she stop laughing. Suki looked over concerned. "What's wrong Katara?"

"What if Aang never asks me?" Katara asked softly. Her fear was completely rational considering how it had been two years after the war. And how her boyfriend was the age of marriage in her tribe. What if she wasn't good enough? What if he already found someone better than her?

"-tara?"

The young waterbender looked up. "Sorry."

Suki gave a warm smile. "It's ok Katara, I was saying that Aang will ask you. I've seen the love between you too. Trust me, we've all seen Aang at his lowest, but the way his eyes sparkle when he is with you, I would be a fool to believe that he wouldn't ask you."

"Then why hasn't he? He knows that I'm way past the age to be married! Is it really that hard to ask the love of your life to spend the rest of eternity with you?" By the time she finished, Katara was out of breath. "I love him so much Suki, and I'm scared that he hasn't chosen me to spend the rest of his life with him." Tears flowed down her cheeks in small waves. She really wanted Aang to come home and help fix her whole problem, but he was a part of it, and Katara felt part of her shut down in shame in involving Aang in her problems.

"Sweetie? Why are you crying?" A voice rang out behind her as the door shut.

Katara got up and went running toward Aang. She embraced him and started to cry on his shoulder, she gripped him hard and was afraid to let go. There was no more shame, and when Aang held her even tighter and reached down to kiss her hair, Katara felt herself melt into the love of her life.

"Hard night sweetie?"

The young waterbender nodded.

"Well to make you feel better, I have a huge surprise for you tomorrow morning." Aang said softly.

"What is it?" Katara mumbled, her head on Aang's chest.

"Well, it wouldn't be a surprise if I told you." Aang picked up his girlfriend as he walked over to their shared bedroom.

Laying her down on the bed, the young avatar scooted down next to her. He wrapped his arms around and kissed her forehead.

"Goodnight my love," he whispered. His girlfriend rewarded him by snuggling even deeper into his chest.

Aang sighed knowing that their relationship was far different from most. It was modest, clean, and only consisted of hugs and kisses. Unlike most, they both decided to stay clean until after marriage, and it had stayed that way for long two years. The young avatar admitted that it felt nice to have such an amazing girlfriend who could please him with such small gestures. And how he could easily do just the same.

AVATAR

It was unlike any other morning that the young avatar had experienced. Waking up next to the love of his always brought a new thrill into his heart.

But today was different

If everything went according to plan, Katara would no longer be his girlfriend anymore, she would be more than just a title. She would be his lover for eternity and beyond, maybe she would even be the mother to his children.

All he had to do was ask.

Aang got up as usual and draped the blanket around his girlfriend. He grabbed a nearby shirt and tossed it on, then he walked downstairs to get everything prepared. In his terms, everything seemed more sentimental in the morning, was there another better way to wake up?

If the young avatar was in Katara's position, he knows that he would love to wake up to a proposal.

Aang grabbed his cookbook that he had bought the day before and started to get everything prepped. Sokka had been very helpful the pervious day, he had bought him a water-tribe cookbook and the ingredients as well.

Though Sokka wasn't there to make it. Which was no surprise there, the young teen boy has been exhausted last night, and by what Aang saw when he came downstairs, Sokka was currently cuddling with his girlfriend Suki on the couch.

How Aang urged to go back to his shared bedroom and snuggle with Katara.

'Ok, one sea slug, five sea prunes,' Aang mentally shrunk inside at the thought of sea prunes. He never had a huge liking towards them, but if Katara loved them, then maybe he could tolerate them for a singular morning.

AVATAR

When Katara woke up, the first thing she noticed was the chill that ran throughout her system. Her usual body heat warmer wasn't next to her. Of course, Katara knew that Aang always got up early, but not this early.

It had to be about six a.m. in the morning.

Katara wasn't ready to get up yet and went back to bed with the blanket pulled up to her chin in an attempt to stay warm.

The next time she woke up, the sun was already at half-noon. Katara yawned and sat up, but when a delicious noise filled her senses, Katara got up and went running downstairs.

It couldn't be, she hadn't smelled that smell since she left the south pole.

But long and behold, when she reached her destination, Katara gasped. There were plates of food on the table, but it wasn't any normal food she knew. It was water-tribe food. Sea prunes, seaweed salad, crabs, and tins of seal jerky lined the short wooden table.

Her brother and girlfriend were already sitting down and partaking in the large feast. Sokka looked very happy to be eating in his culture again, and for that, Katara admitted that she was excited to do as well. Her boyfriend looked up and came walking over towards her, leading her towards the table and sitting down.

"This is absolutely amazing Aang," Katara gaped, "How did you know what to make?"

Aang gave his soft warm smile. "I'll tell you later. How about you eat first sweetie? I made all this for you."

"For me?" she said softly. Warmth filled her entire body as she gave him a small kiss and laid her head on his shoulder. "Thank you, sweetie, this means the whole world to me."

"Yeah, he even made sea prunes!" Sokka replied with a mouth full of food. Everyone gave a small chuckle when Suki smacked him on the shoulder for talking when eating.

Katara wasted not a single minute and dung in. The way the flavors died in her mouth brought back memories of past fragments of pain and peace. Her mother used to make these foods all the time, as Aang had done for her now. The love she felt for the young avatar only grew more.

"Hey Katara?"

The young waterbender looked up. "Do you have more surprises for me Mr. Avatar?" She smiled when Aang grabbed her hand and walked out to the garden surrounding their housing. Katara gasped.

Flowers of many colors surrounded small pounds where ducks floated with ease. The sun shone through the trees and landed in perfect shadows on the ground. Aang squeezed Katara's hand. "This what I wanted to show you."

"It's beautiful Aang."

"Just like you sweetie. Just how the flowers fly in the wind, creating picture perfect moments, these are the moments that I enjoy the most. Looking into your picture-perfect eyes, handing your picture-perfect hands, seeing your picture-perfect kindness." He tucked a piece of hair behind her ears. "The moment I met you, there was something I saw that made me fall in love with you the moment I saw you. It was your kindness, your beauty, your everlasting love. Katara…"

Aang pulled out the neckleace. "I don't want to spend the rest of my life without you. You are my rock, my entire being. You raise me up when things get hard, and I am so lucky to have such an amazing women in my life. I want to share my trials with you, I want to start our family with you, I want to share our happiest moments together. I love you so much Katara."

Katara covered her mouth as tears came rushing down her cheeks.

"Katara of the Southern Water-tribe, would you give me the honor of making me the happiest man of earth and accept my proposal to marry you?" Aang asked.

Katara smiled and went running up towards Aang. "Yes yes yes yes! Aang I would love to marry you!" She kissed him passionately, pouring all her love into that simple kiss. Her fiancé didn't spare her any breathing room as he brought her closer to him.

"Oggies! Spear it for the wedding night please! Oww! I was just making a point," Sokka rubbed his sore shoulder. "I think I'm going to lose my shoulder."

"Oh, calm down you big baby," Suki cooed and went running towards the bride-to-be. "I'm so happy for you! Your necklace..." She touched the necklace on Katara's neck. "It looks gorgeous!"

"I know, but it's my fiancé that catch's my eye more." Her eyes gave a mischievous glare.

"Oh really?" Aang teased as he wrapped his arms around Katara's waist. "If so, then I'm one lucky guy."

Katara kissed her fiancé. She wrapped her arms around his neck, their foreheads touching. "Yeah, you are. But I'm just as lucky." She kissed him again. "And don't you forget it."
