Callie and Marie stared wide-eyed at the glove on the floor. "Well, fuck," Callie said, looking at her hand... or really, her stump.
This was gonna be fun explaining to the fans.. especially if the screams of horror coming from the window were any indication.
Yeah, maybe she should have fought harder to get the month off.
(An Hour Earlier)
-The Squid Sisters changing room-
"When you said you had a mishap at your grandfather's place… this is so not what I thought it would be." Alyssa groaned at the sight before her.
Callie chuckled awkwardly, "Ehehe… yeah," she murmured, rubbing her bandage-wrapped stump.
"How!?" Alyssa shouted.
"She fucked around with a wood chipper and found out." Marie said, pulling her shirt off. "Both Naruko and I told her to wait, but nooooo. She could handle it." The younger of the duo said sarcastically as she pulled her jeans off before grabbing her stage outfit.
The duo's producer/interim manager palmed her face. "Whhhhhhhyyyy…," she groaned, putting her face in her hands. "Also, you could've waited until I was out of the room before you undressed Marie." The caramel-skinned woman said as Marie unclipped her bra and tossed it on the table, leaving her clad in only a black and green side-tie thong.
"Oh well." The gray-green Inkling shrugged, "It's not like you haven't seen me, Callie… hell, Naruko even, ass naked a dozen times." She said with a grin as she grabbed her tights. "Please stop reminding me… I'd rather forget that you pulled a literal ahegao face that one time." Alyssa said, face still buried in her palms. You'd honestly think that Naruko and Marie would have had the common sense to lock the door after the first time someone walked in on them… but nope! Which ultimately lead to poor Alyssa walking in on Naruko tongue fucking Marie into oblivion that one time.
"Look, Aly.. it's not that bad. Ehehe… it'll be good as new in a month." Callie grinned shakily as she tried to shimmy out of her yoga pants. A task that was surprisingly difficult with only one hand.
"That's not the damn point!" The taller woman shouted, causing Callie to trip and land on the couch.
"You do realise that people will assume Naruko did it right? Especially after that little tiff the two of you had two weeks ago."
Callie's eyes went wide. She'd honestly forgotten about that.
"Umm.. I might have a solution." A meek voice came from behind Alyssa.
Turning, the caramel skinned woman saw her assistant Yukiko. "What… what if she wears her winter gloves and tightens the strap on the right one?"
Alyssa thinks for a moment, "That… could work."
(Present)
It didn't work.
It didn't work, and now anarchy reigned in the Plaza.
"Wow... they are going feral out there." Marie said, sipping her chocolate milk.
And she was right. Cars were flipped over, bins tipped on their side. She's pretty sure she saw one girl running around naked while screaming something about avocados and laser guns while three other girls (likely her team) chased after her with her clothes. It was anarchy.
All of this because Callie accidentally revealed her missing hand.
"This is horrible." Callie bemoaned from the corner she was currently curled up in.
"Alright, girls. You're on in two." Alyssa said from near the cameras.
Letting out a huff, Callie begrudgingly trudged over to where Marie was.
"We got this, Cal." Marie said with her usual grin.
Callie smiled back, "Yeah... it'll be an easy explanation."
(Several minutes later)
"And so there it is. I uh.. ehehe.. I hope I didn't worry you all too much." Callie said, rubbing the back of her head.
"Maybe next time you'll actually listen. Eh?" Marie snickered from her seat.
Callie shot her a glare. As the younger of the two had done their intro… and then proceeded to sit back down and leave Callie to fend for herself. And you know what she said when Callie asked her what she was doing?
'Hmm? Oh well this is your mess Cal. Have fun.' and then she just did her usual insufferably cute smirk she does before opening up her lunch.
That left Callie to awkwardly explain to their rampaging fans that she had a slight accident at her grandpa's place and that it'd be fine in a month or two and that Naruko was not responsible. She had gone into exact details about how Naruko immediately leapt into action after hearing her scream and immediately wrapped her arm and wrist in a tourniquet before driving her to the local hospital.
Shaking her head, Callie looked back at the cameras.
"So uh.. there it is.. Stay Fresh." Callie said meekly, doing her usual pose. Marie followed suit from her chair, albeit with a fork sticking out of her mouth.
Callie spun around and glared at Marie. "Fuck you."
Marie just rolled her eyes with a smirk before standing and walking over to Callie. "Hey, I'm not the one who lost her hand like an idiot," she said, putting an arm around her cousin's shoulder.
"It wasn't my fault." Callie whined as she and Marie walked back to their dressing room. "Besides, better me losing a hand than Ekolu losing her life." She muttered softly.
"Yeah, yeah... I know Cal." Marie said, kissing the slightly taller girl on the cheek.
What? You didn't think Callie was dumb enough to actually stick her hand into a wood chipper, right?
What Actually Happened
"Three, watch out!" Callie shouted, pushing the younger girl out of the way of an Octo-Sniper's shot, only to get winged by it. "MOTHERFUCKER!" The older girl shouted, holding her shoulder.
"Shit! One I-" Three tried to say only for Callie to hold her hand up "Stop kid, it's fine. It happens. Sides, it just winged me.." She said with a pained grin, as she showed the younger Agent that it had indeed only grazed her "It's gonna hurt like all hell tomorrow though."
"It was a rookie mistake.. but she's right Three." Marie chimed in over the comms. "Sniper is taken care of by the way. You're welcome~"
Three nodded and took a shaky breath before moving up with Callie.
"Alright, cut the chatter ladies." Naruko sounded over the comms. "Three, make for the Zapfish. Two, you're on overwatch and One.. get that shoulder wrapped if you're bleeding and meet up with me at the bridge. We're gonna be the distraction."
"G-got it/ Already on my way to a vantage point/Right behind you Zero." The Agents said as they rushed to their positions.
A few minutes later, Ekolu pressed herself up against a large shipping container. Peering around the bend, she saw the Zapfish and two Octolings standing guard.
Off to her left, she could hear Naruko and Callie tearing things up and causing general mayhem.
Taking a deep breath, Ekolu checked her ink level before gripping her Hero Shot. "O-ok... I got this. I got this," she said, trying to hype herself up.
*Clink* *Clink*
"Huh?" Looking down, Ekolu saw a Splatterbomb filled with purple ink. "Oh fuck!" She shrieked, kicking the explosive away from her before it detonated… which also sadly gave away her position.
"Shit!" The teen shouted as she dived back into cover as the Octolings opened fire.
(Meanwhile)
"Fifteen." Marie murmured as she shot an Octoling in the head from her perch. "Sixteen… Seventeen."
Nodding to herself, the gray-green Inkling stood up to move to a new position. Naruko and Callie had moved further up and Ekolu was over on the right, so she decided to move up and follow after them.
Hefting her Hero Charger over her shoulder, Marie scanned her surroundings for a suitable vantage point. "Hmm… that water tower is a bit exposed," she muttered. "Eh, better than nothing." She shrugged as she collapsed her Hero Charger and strapped it to its shoulder harness before sprinting to the edge of the raised platform she was on and leapt over to the adjacent one, leaping from rooftop to rooftop towards the water tower and climbing the ladder on its side. "Fuck, am I happy that I took up parkour." She said with a huff as she climbed. She was extremely glad she took up Pearl's offer to teach her a few months ago. It made moving from position to position so much goddamn easier now.
After a moment, Marie was at the top and setting up her Charger. "Seriously fucking weird how this place looks like a mix between Port Mackerel and Sturgeon Shipyard." She said with a glare. It was pretty obvious the reason why it looked like this, after all... what better way to train your troops then in enemy territory right? Or really, an outdated facsimile of enemy territory that is.
"Alright... let's see what we're working with." Marie looked through her scope and saw Naruko and Callie clearing out the left side as expected. "Hmm... okay, let's check on the kid." Marie murmured, shifting her Charger to the left. "Fuck..." Ekolu was pinned by two Octolings and was panicking as she tried to return fire.
"Zero. Three is pinned down by two Octos and seems to have forgotten how to use her comms. Can you or One break off?"
"Not really. Reinforcements just came in on our side… can you handle it Two?"
"Negative. I don't have a clear shot on the Octos because they are taking cover between two shipping crates… Actually, hold on." Marie lines up a shot on one of the Octolings that had foolishly over-extended.
*Beep* *BANG*
"Make that one Octo, dumb cunt left herself exposed... The other knows I'm here now and is trying to circle around. You or One should be able to head her off while Three gets the Zapfish."
"Two, cover Zero. I'll go and intercept the Octoling and back Three up."
"Roger that One. Two, provide covering fire for One."
"You hear that, Three?"
"Y-yeah… sorry bout that I-"
"Just shut the fuck up and get the Zapfish, kid. That's twice you've fucked up this mission."
(With Naruko and Callie)
Callie shoulder checked an Octo Elite before bringing her Hero Roller down on the woman's head, splatting her. "Zero! I'm moving!"
Naruko gave her a thumbs up before opening fire on the approaching Octolings, causing them to scramble into cover.
"Just shut the fuck up and get the Zapfish kid. That's twice you've fucked up this mission." Callie rolled her eyes. "Really Marie? Cut the kid some fucking slack." She said to herself.
Shaking her head, the black-magenta Inkling sprinted to where the Octoling would be. Though she would be having words with Marie later.
'There you are.' Callie grinned as she wound up a swing with her Hero Roller.
The Octoling didn't even have a moment to realise what was happening before she was flung into a shipping container with enough force to snap some of its bindings.
"I got the Zapfish! One I'm heading over to you."
Callie smiled as Three rounded the corner, the Zapfish nestled under her arm. "Great job, Three. Let's wrap up and-"
*BOOOOM*
An explosion rocked the platform
"What the fuck was that!?" Three shouted, stumbling towards Callie.
"I don't.. woah!" Callie let out a surprised yelp as the platform began to dip.
"One, Three, move it! These fuckers are trying to sink the rig!" Marie shouted over the comms.
Steadying herself, Callie rushed over to Ekolu, who had lost her footing when the platform began to dip. "C'mon, let's get outta here." She said, pulling the younger teen to her feet.
*Snap*
Callie's eyes widened as she turned to the sound. The bindings on the container she had flung the Octoling into were beginning to give way. "Shit, we have to-"
BOOM*
Another explosion rocked the platform, this one closer than the previous one.
"EKOLU MOVE!" Callie shouted, pushing the younger girl out of the way before she felt an excruciating pain in her arm and everything went black.
Only for a sharp pain to bring her back to consciousness "AHHHHHHHH!" Callie screamed out in anguish "MOTHERFUCKING FUCK!"
Three sprinted around the container and almost tripped at the sight.
Callie was pinned against one of the shipping containers by her lower forearm. The older teen tried to reassure her with a smile, but it failed.
"ONE! THREE! COME IN DAMN IT!" Marie shouted over the comms.
Shakily, Ekolu responded, "M-Marie... Callie's pinned. She's... Fuck, there's a ton of blood!"
Thump*
Ekolu spun around while fumbling with her Hero Shot, only to find it was Naruko.
The older teen said nothing as she rushed past her to help Callie.
"Can you move it?" Naruko asked as she examined the partially crushed limb. Callie shook her head negatively. As Marie landed via Super Jump.
CREEAAK*
"Fuck... you know what I have to do, right?" The rig was gonna come down any moment.
Callie nodded and put her good hand on Naruko's shoulder. "Do it."
Nodding, Naruko drew one of her kukri "One cut, clean through.." Naruko motioned to Marie who grabbed Callie's good hand.
"Ekolu, look away now." Naruko barked.
The younger girl nodded and turned away.
*shilck*
Ekolu tried to cover her ears to block out Callie's pained scream.
After a few moments, she felt a nudge on her shoulder. Turning, she saw Marie standing behind her.
"Come on, we're up front." The older girl said evenly, though her eyes held nothing but contempt for the younger girl. Clearly blaming her for what happened.
Looking back, Ekolu saw Naruko with Callie on her back... and the black-magenta Inkling's lack of a right hand.
"Move it, Ekolu. We are leaving." Naruko ordered, as she ran past to catch up with Marie.
Ekolu shook her head and followed. But a single thought kept reverberating in her head…
She fucked up and Callie paid for it.
