A/N: Hello, hello! Just wanted to drop in and say a quick happy Father's Day to my dad and all my uncles. And if you don't have a dad this time of year, you can borrow mine!
Enjoy this peek at Richard Castle being a dad to his six kids.
"Hey, Dad? Am I your favorite?"
"Depends. What did you do?"
"Why do you think I did something?"
"Because the only time any of you kids ask if you're my favorite is if you've done something. So, I'll ask again: what did you do?"
"I didn't do anything!"
"Mmhmm."
"I didn't!"
"Then, yes, you're my favorite."
"Yay! Thank you!"
"You're welcome, baby."
"Hey, Dad? Can I borrow twenty dollars?"
.
.
.
"Dad, hypothetical question."
"Okay, shoot?'
"Say, you're going to the pool with some friends and they left their passes at home. Would you, being the good friend you are, sneak them in?"
"Hypothetically, it would be against the rules to sneak in someone without pass, but seeing as it's a one-time thing, yes I would.
"Great! That's what I thought! Thanks!"
"Always. Hey, bud?"
"Yeah?"
"Just don't get caught, okay?"
"Always."
.
.
.
"Dad? Will you open this for me?"
"Sure."
"Thank you!"
"Are you gonna tell me what you're making?'
"That would ruin the surprise!"
"Okay, okay. I'll be surprised. Do I get a hint?"
"It's a favorite in the summer. Part of it is hot, and the other part is cold and crunchy."
"Ooo, okay. I think I know, and I'm excited. Anything I can do to help?"
"Not right now, but I might need you to man the grill later. Is that okay?"
"Sounds good to me! I'm always happy to help!"
'Thank you! And stay out of the kitchen until I call you!"
.
.
.
"Dad? Where's mom?"
"I think she's down at the pool with the little kids, why?"
'Ugh! I need to ask her something!"
"Could you ask me? I know I'm not as good as mom at the whole 'girl' thing, but I try my best."
"I mean, there's this bonfire tonight at Flying Point beach and me and Corinne were gonna go. But it also means that Carter and Greyson might be there and I don't know if I want to be there with them."
"Because of what happened last summer?'
"Exactly! Like, we're cool, I think, but it's gonna be weird seeing them and hanging out. So, what should I do?"
"Well, I'm answering as mom here, I think you should go! Have fun with your friend! Who cares what a couple of teenage boys think? They're stupid! And if you feel weird, or don't wanna stay, then come back here and have your own bonfire and midnight swim."
"Really? Oh my god! Thanks, Dad! That really helped. Now I can see why Alexis came to you so much when she was my age."
.
.
.
"Dad?!"
"Bubbby? What's wrong?"
"Can you come get me? I messed up."
"Where are you?'
"Palmer Park. We were trying to take a hike, but the trail was closed and Christian hopped the fence and disappeared and we haven't heard from him in an hour. Dad, I'm so sorry!"
"Listen, don't worry, okay? Everything is going to be fine. Did you go looking for him?"
"Yeah, a bit, but his tracks stopped and we tried calling for him, but he didn't answer.
"Okay. Take a breath. I am on my way. Call 911."
.
.
.
"How very sweet of you to call your ole' dad on Father's day! You didn't need to do that."
"Well, I am! I missed you. Happy Father's Day."
"Thank you, honey."
"How are you spending the day? Are Kate and the kids spoiling you?"
"They did! A cook-to-order breakfast and a pile of cards and gifts and now we're just hanging out. I think we may go in the pool later. It's been nice.
"Well, good. You got my card, right?"
"I did! Thank you. And tell Max and the kids thank you from me. It was very sweet.'
"I will. Speaking of. We're going to be in town next week, checking out that boarding school for McKenna. Any chance we could crash at your place?"
"Of course! You guys are always welcome! So, you decided to send her, huh?'
"We haven't decided anything. We're just weighing our options. She hates her school down here, we know that for sure, and all the other schools in our area just don't feel like the right fit either. I just don't know what to do.
"You'll figure it out. Something will come up and be just right for her."
"I hope so. Anyway, just wanted to say I love you, and we'll see you soon."
"See you soon. Love you!"
