Yo what's good my fellow readers, today I'm going to branch away from Amourshipping and try an Ash x Lillie One-shot story, I want to explore other ships, like my 'First impressions' story a few years ago, I'll be combining episode 1 of the Sun and moon anime with plot points from JN 111 and 112. I hope you enjoy. This is a time for experimentation, better don my lab coat and sophisticated glasses and wig. Man did I realize I have a lot on my plate LMAO.
In this story Serena never kissed Ash, this is so the story won't get too conflicting (There I said it, now give me five minutes to hate myself for what I just said!)
Some scenes will play out as I remember them, you will see what I mean. I have not seen the Sun/moon series in a while, and now they removed it from Netflix.
Ash will have his kalos team (Including Greninja but excluding Goodra)
He'll be more aware of things more than him acting like a dimwit like in the Original S/M series
Ash is still dense, but he will gradually lose his density over time as he helps Lillie with her fear.
This story will be split into chapters with time skips to keep you up to date with the story's time of events. (Dates are determined by the Specific date the episode aired)
Second to final note: This first chapter will be the build up, the kiss wont happen until a bit later.
Final note: I feel like Lillie is the most sympathetic character in Pokémon, having a missing parent cannot be easy to deal with, and I feel like Ash and his father Red could relate, y'know? The only difference here is that Red is not 'Missing' he is training on mount silver and has been since then, and never has time to visit so Ash never got to know his father.
PS, I am no psychiatrist so bear with me if 'exposure therapy' is the only thing I 'know'
I can tell this story is going to be another tearjerker, God damn my feelings.

Chapter 1- I'm here for you.
It was a beautiful day in the Alola region, Alola was a region that consisted of four islands that had their own charm to them that made them unique in their own way. There was Mele'Mele island, Akala island, Ula'Ula island and Poni island with their own Kahuna to test trainers who pass the island trials on each island. And right now, our focus is on a young man named Ash Ketchum who is running to get to the Pokémon school on time, after a close win in Kalos against Alain in the Kalos league and after the Kalos War he returned home where his mother excitedly explained that she and Mimey won tickets to Alola. Ash never wanted to be a student, but he gave in the end and liked going to school.
"Come on Buddy, race ya" Ash said excitedly as he ran.
"Pika Pika" his loyal partner said as he ran along side his trainer. With the Pokémon school coming in to view the two hightailed it and hurried as fast as they could.
(A few minutes later)
"Aw come on Pikachu, you cheated" Ash said in a joking manner as his partner stuck his tongue out to tease him. Pikachu laughed in triumph as his trainer scowled in defeat but unable to hide his amused smile. The two soon noticed that no one was around.
"Hey where is everyone?" Ash asked confused. His partner noticed too and was equally confused.
"ALOLA SURPRISE" Everyone called out. The raven-haired trainer could make out balloons, streamers and confetti on the ground.
"What is all this?" Ash said confused.
"It's a party to welcome new students, silly" a green haired girl said happily.
"Hi, my names Mallow"
"I'm Sophocles"
"My names Lana"
"I'm Lillie"
"I'm Kiawe"
"Hello Ash, my name is Kukui, and I'm the teacher and Professor here at the school" Professor Kukui said introducing himself.
"It's nice to meet You Professor" Ash said shaking the man's hand.
"Everyone would you like to give Ash a tour of our school? I need to take care of something with the principal" Professor Kukui said.
"Okay!" Mallow exclaimed as she took Ash's hand suddenly and started walking.
"Hey, I can walk myself you know" Ash said, the other students followed behind.
"This is the music room right here" Lana said, opening the door and stepping inside Ash noticed so many instruments he never recognized, like a Pahu, a Ukalele, a Ukake and others. But what impressed him more was a big white Grand piano in the center of the large room.
"This place is huge!" Ash said as his eyes sparkled in wonder.
"You wouldn't know it, but Lillie is really good at playing the piano" Lana said.
"She is?" Ash asked.
"T-that's right Ash" Lillie said shyly.
"Lillie can't touch Pokémon but she's a major book worm" Mallow said.
"She can't touch Pokémon?" Ash asked confused.
"I can't, I don't know how to really explain why" she said with a sad frown.
"I can help you if you want me to" Ash offered.
"Thank you so much Ash" Lillie said kindly, and to her own astonishment she started blushing.
"Class where are you?" the professor yelled.
"Looks like class is about to start" Sophocles said.
"We better get back" Kiawe advised.
"We can get back to our tour later" Mallow suggested.
As the class went back to their room Lillie was walking slowly behind the others, there was a lot going through her mind.
"I hate my fear sometimes, I love how the others want to help me get over my fear, and now that Ash is here, I finally feel like I have a chance to finally get over my fear, and… he is pretty cute' Lillie thought and blushed at that last part.
"Could it be… am… I am falling for Ash?" Lillie asked herself quietly.
(later, at the end of the school day)
"Bye everyone!" Professor Kukui said as he waved. All the students went to their homes to start anew tomorrow.
"Hey, can I stay back? I want to catch up on my work, today was hectic so I never got to do anything" Ash said.
"Sure, thing Ash" But this can't be a normal thing, afterwords you can study at the lab. We can't have you sneaking off" he advised.
"Ok, thank you professor"
(Later that night)
Ash was quietly studying at his desk, and right now the topic of today's lesson was all about Pokémon geography and eco-systems. Pikachu was sleeping away against Ash's backpack as he worked, but suddenly he could hear a tune playing somewhere in the school.
He quietly got up carefully not to wake up Pikachu and made his way to the music room and peaked inside, he was surprised to see Lillie playing the piano but recalled that Lana explained that she was good piano player. He quietly opened the door to avoid disturbing her and found a safe place to watch. As he watched he noticed the moon shone its light down on the room making Lillie almost glow.
'She's beautiful' Ash thought to himself quietly.
'Wait when did I start thinking about that stuff?' He paused for a moment.
"That's a pretty song Lillie" Ash said quietly.
"Eep" Lillie screamed suddenly, momentarily stopping her piano playing, but she instantly calmed down after seeing Ash.
"O-oh A-alola Ash" Lillie greeted timidly.
"That was a beautiful song" Ash said.
"You're welcome, I'm glad you liked it" Lillie said smiling and blushing slightly. Trying to lighten up the mood a bit.
"So do you think you could really help me get over my fear?" Lillie asked, switching the subject.
"Of course, that's what friends are for right?" Ash said quietly.
'He's so kind and selfless' Lillie thought.
"I think we need to get some sleep *Yawn*" Ash said with a yawn.
"Yeah, I think we do. Goodnight Ash. Sweet dreams" Lillie said.
"You too" Ash said before his eyes grew heavy and he fell asleep in the music room. As he fell asleep, she went and grabbed a blanket and draped it over the raven-haired trainer so he wouldn't be cold.
She then made her way to the door, before opening it she took one last look at Ash as he slept and noticed him smiling, she smiled back as she closed the door behind her. Ash slept well that day, Lillie's soft piano playing over and over in his head.
(The next day)
"Alright class our next lesson will be on Pokémon battles" Professor Kukui said happily.
"Alright!" the class cheered.
"Hey, has anyone seen Ash?" Mallow asked, that got everyone's attention as they looked over at Ash's empty seat with Pikachu standing on his desk.
"Right here everyone" Ash said as he yawned and took a seat at his desk. The gang noted his disheveled look.
"What happened to you?" Mallow asked.
"I thought I'd catch up on some schoolwork from earlier, then I heard something in the distance, and it was coming from the music room, and I noticed Lillie playing the piano, we had a short conversation and then I fell asleep" Ash explained.
Lana and Mallow looked at each other and giggled, Lillie was silent the whole time and couldn't hide a blush forming on her cheeks. The two boys were glaring daggers at Ash who gulped nervously.
"Now now everyone settle down, let's start today's lesson" the professor explained.
"YEAH!" the class exclaimed excitedly.
"I want everyone to pick an opponent and go out to the battlefield and wait for my instruction. The class got up from their chairs and went outside to the battlefield.
(A short walk later)
"Alright class I want you all to have a one-on-one battle, since Lillie doesn't have a Pokémon, I want her to just observe what happens" the professor explained.
Immediately Ash looked in Kiawe's direction and smirked, Kiawe smirked back in acknowledgement.
"So, you and Lillie huh?" Kiawe asked playfully.
"W-well I promised I'd help her get over her fear of Pokémon, and I never break my promises" Ash said.
"Hm, good" Kiawe said.
"Trainers bring out your Pokémon" Kukui said.
"Alright Greninja, I choose you" Ash yelled. His faithful water type emerged for battle with a serious expression.
"Ohhh look a Greninja, I've never seen one before" Lana said amazed.
Alright then, Greninja is your choice, don't get cocky because you have the type advantage" Kiawe yelled.
"Oh, I know Kiawe, let's give the class a good show" Ash said.
"You read my mind, Go Turtonator!" Kiawe yelled, his Turtonator came out with a thud.
"Turtonator!" it cried out.
"BATTLE BEGIN" Kukui yelled as he brought his hand down.
"Alright Greninja, let's show them just how stronger you are, use Ariel Ace" Ash yelled.
"Turtonator, use shell trap" Kiawe yelled.
Greninja hit the trap head on and was sent back, the crowd looked on in suspense. Lillie watched with fascination.
"You ok Greninja?" Ash asked.
"Gren" he said with a clenched fist, Ash smirked making Kiawe confused.
'What's he planning?" Kiawe asked, narrowing his eyes.
"You've seen nothing yet, let's get stronger together. Alright Greninja FULL POWER" Ash yelled.
"GREN-NIN-JAAAAAAA" he cried as a vortex of water suddenly enveloped him, his fins grew black tuffs of hair with red 'Z' marks and his head-fin turned red and the vortex turned into a massive shuriken on his back. The vortex dissipated in its entirety as Greninja's new form was unveiled.
"Oh, wow I had no idea he could do that" Sophocles said in shock. The others mirrored his reaction and thoughts, Lillie was more than impressed, she was amazed even.
"Woah, that's awesome" Lana said amazed.
"I'm speechless" Mallow said.
"Wow I never seen something like this before" Lillie said with bated breath.
"Pi-ka" Pikachu said quietly nodding.
"Alright Greninja. WATER SHURIKEN" Ash yelled, moving his arm behind him in unison with Greninja, Kiawe quickly got ove r his shock and called to his Pokémon, but he knew it was already over.
"Tur- " Kiawe didn't get to call out a command when the shuriken hit sending Turtonator flying, he eventually landed on the sand just a few feet away from where Kiawe was standing.
"Turtonator is unable to battle, Greninja wins" The professor called.
"WAY TO GO ASH, YOU DID IT" The class said in unison as they all tackled him in sheer happiness as the Professor and Lillie looked on.
"Pika-PIKACHU" Pikachu cried out.
"Lillie, come congratulate Ash" the professor said. She smiled softly as she walked over to Ash and smiled brightly at him.
"You were awesome Ash; can you tell me more about your Greninja? I have never seen one like that before" Lillie said.
"I'd love that" Ash said. Suddenly Pikachu jumped onto his trainers' shoulders and nuzzled his face.
"Chaaaaa" he purred.
"I love you too buddy" Ash said scratching Pikachu behind the ears.
"Hey Ash, don't you have any other Pokémon with you?" Kukui asked.
"You bet! Come on out everyone!" Ash yelled out, coming out of the balls was his Hawlucha, Noivern, and Talonflame.
"Haw-Hawlucha"
"Flame!"
"Noivern"
"You know I raised Noivern here from an egg" Ash explained.
"Wow! Really!?" Everyone asked in unison.
"Yep" Ash nodded smiling widely.
Lillie looked on in amazement, the bond between Ash and his pokemon—Especially his faithful Pikachu made her happy, and she could see the happiness in their expressions. She smiled softly and wondered if that could be her one day.
Only time would tell…
(Later after school, At the Professor's house)
'Man am I bushed" Ash said, he sat on his bed to let his body relax.
"How was school, bzzt" Rotom dex asked.
"Let's just say I have a lot on my mind" Ash asked.
"Want to watch Alola detective Lackey with the professor?" Rotom dex asked.
"Sure, I'm going to take a shower and then I'll be right out" Ash said, walking to his room to get some fresh clothes and went into the bathroom to freshen up. Hearing the water running gave the dex and Pikachu time to get comfortable.
"Tomorrow, I have a surprise assignment for the class and I'm sure Ash would agree" the Professor said, sitting on the couch, Pikachu made himself comfortable in Kukui's lap while he waited for his trainer.
"A surprise?/Pika?" Rotom dex and Pikachu asked in unison.
"Yeah, I just received two Pokémon eggs from Professor Oak, and I wanted the class to learn about hatching a Pokemon Egg" the professor explained.
"That sounds like an amazing idea" Rotom Dex said excitedly as a 'celebrate emoji' showed on his screen.
"I know right? Ash is going to be psyched" Kukui said excitedly.
(ten minutes later)
"What's this I hear about a new assignment?" Ash asked confused as he just got out of the shower with a towel around his waist, he was just about to get dressed when the news was dropped.
"Give me a second to finish and then I'll be right out" Ash said. He went back into the bathroom and got dressed in all new clothes.
A few minutes later Ash was fully dressed and sat on the couch, the professor wrapped his arm around the young boy like a father would to his son and turned on the TV and watched the detective program together.
"So, I noticed you and Lillie are extra close, mind telling me about it?" Kukui asked.
"I offered to help her get over her fear of Pokémon" Ash said, not seeing the problem.
"Do you know what 'Love' is?" Kukui asked, changing to a different topic.
"What's 'Love'?" Ash asked.
"See love can be interpreted differently to mean different things, Parents love their kids, siblings love their siblings and so on" Kukui said, Ash slowly nodded. But he could see Ash was not getting it.
"Let's approach this from a different view, do you love Pikachu?" Kukui asked.
"Of course I do, he's my partner" Ash said without hesitation, surprised and a bit offended.
"Do you love your mother?" Kukui asked.
"I do, she's the most amazing mom ever, I wouldn't trade her for anything" Ash said, Kukui could only envision Delia's reaction to that question, but he decided to move things along.
"Do you love Lillie?" Kukui asked, at this Ash was confused.
"Of course," Ash said.
"Tha-" Kukui said before he was cut off.
"She's one of my best friends" Ash finished.
"So much for that angle" the Professor muttered.
"Ok, then let's try this again"
"What do you 'Like' about Lillie?" the professor asked.
"She's smart, determined, she's kind to everyone and she really likes Pokémon" Ash said, Kukui nodded in acceptance.
'So far so good' he thought.
"Ok, now what do you 'Love' about Lillie?" he asked.
"I'm afraid you lost me" Ash said.
"This is going to be a long night" Professor Kukui said sighing.
"Liking someone' means you want to do everything with your friends, but Love is different. When you love someone you want to do everything together, see them happy and help them when they're feeling down" he explained.
"Oh, I get it now" Ash said.
"When you love someone your extra close, sometimes you hug or kiss the person you love because out of gratitude or to just show you affections, you want to do everything together because that person is extra special to you" he explained. Ash nodded his head, drinking in everything his teacher told him.
"Do you know what a 'boyfriend or 'girlfriend' is? Kukui asked.
"What's that mean?" Ash asked.
"Those are special titles that define a relationship between two people" the professor said.
"Okay, so what does that have to do with Lillie and I?" Ash asked.
"I'll let you figure that out on your own, for now I want you to remember everything I just said" the professor said.
"I will" Ash said.
"Good" the professor said before getting up to go make dinner for the two.
(The next day)
"Class I have a surprise assignment" the professor explained.
"My cousin in Kanto graciously handed these two eggs over to me" Principal Oak explained.
"You mean Professor Oak, right?" Ash said.
"Yes, very perceptive Ash, you have a Keen Eye like a Pidgy" Samson said with his perfect 'Pidgy face impression' The class just sweat dropped.
"I want to study these two eggs but since this is a school assignment, I want to change the game plan, I think one of you should raise one, I'll give you a second to decide" Professor Kukui said.
"You want one of us to raise one of these eggs?" Mallow asked.
"That's right" he said. The class began to talk amongst themselves.
"So, who do you think should raise one of these eggs?" Mallow asked. Getting up to get a better look at the eggs on the table, the class followed her.
"Well, I think the answer is an obvious one" Kiawe said.
"What do you mean?" Sophocles asked confused.
"I think Lillie should raise one" Kiawe explained.
"M-me?!" Lillie asked in shock.
"Pika?!" Pikachu also exclaimed in shock.
"Is she ready for this? I do not want to scare her with such a big commitment like this" Lana asked, uneasy for her friend.
"I think she is, she studies Pokémon at home so surely she knows how to take care of an egg, I wouldn't trust anyone more" Ash explained with a confident expression.
"Go on, we got your back" Ash said putting a hand on Lillie's shoulder, beaming with confidence, soon the whole class joined in. Pikachu got down on the table and looked up at Lillie with a bright smile, encouraging her to believe in her friends. The blonde book worm could not believe how much her friends all believed in her.
"T-thank you, thank you all" Lillie said tearing up slightly before taking her handkerchief and wiping her tears away.
"I pick this one, the spots look like flowers. It's so cute" Lillie said taking the Alolan Vulpix egg.
"Great choice" Lana said, the other students nodded behind her.
"I think I will call it 'snowy'." Lillie said, the egg shook slightly as if the baby Pokémon inside was satisfied with the name, Lillie held the egg close, feeling the life and warmth inside the egg.
"Well class did you all choose an egg?" the professor asked. He stopped and noticed the egg in Lillie's arms and a caring smile formed on Kukui's face.
"Lillie I am so proud of you. You'll be over your phobia in no time" the professor said kindly.
(Later that same day, after class)
"Goodbye everyone! See you tomorrow" the professor waved.
"See you later" everyone yelled in unison.
Lillie was walking to a limousine with the egg in an incubator for safe travel. Her trusted butler opened the door for her. The car soon made its way to the family's mansion.
"Welcome back Miss Lillie. How was school?" the butler asked the young book worm.
"It was lovely, thanks for asking Hobbs" Lillie said kindly. Hobbs saw the egg and was confused for a moment.
"Miss Lillie why do you have an egg with you? Are you still afraid of Pokémon?" Hobbs asked as the car continued on its way to their destination.
"Yes, but my friends are helping me get over my fear, especially…" Lillie paused for a moment as her heart began to race in her chest at the mere mention of his name.
"Miss Lillie, are you alright?" Hobbs asked, concerned, noticing her abrupt pause.
"…Ash" Lillie said finally, her cheeks turned a beautiful shade of red and she smiled at that name.
"Ash, you say, and who is the young fellow of yours?' Hobbs asked curiously, Lillie never took an interest in boys before so hearing this 'Ash' person being mentioned is an odd surprise.
"He's a really sweet guy I met in school, he's kind, encouraging, funny, thoughtful and he's… kind of cute" she said the last part in a whisper. Soon the limo parked right in front of the gate. And the driver got out of the car to kindly open the door for the young student.
"Good evening, Miss Lillie, I hope your day was wonderful" the chauffeur said.
"It was wonderful" Lillie said, walking inside the big mansion she made her way to her room and walked inside. Taking out the egg out of the incubator and set the egg on a chair and wrapped a few blankets around it to make sure the egg was comfortable.
(The next day)
"Good morning class I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday" Kukui asked his students, he took notice of the egg in Lillie's arms and warmly smiled.
"Lillie, I see you taking great care of the egg, you're doing excellent" the teacher praised.
"Thank you very much" she said, gently nuzzling the egg and feeling the warmth of the life inside.
"Alright class let's begin today's lesson" the teacher explained.
(Later that same week)
That same week the class saw an advertisement for a 'Pancake race' in a cafe and everyone was excited and interested in joining so they went to sign up.
The class tried their best in the race but after some misfortunate events fumbling up the class's valiant efforts it was a surprise to everyone that Principal Oak won of all people. But the class congratulated him which made him happy. It was always important to have good sportsmanship and not to get too overconfinant or upset anfterall it was just about having a fun time.
(Later back at school)
"Everyone, everyone come quick" Lillie explained, the class crowded around and saw the egg glowing brightly, until a baby white Alolan Vulpix came out.
"Vuul" Vulpix cried out as she wiped her eye with a tiny paw. Lillie got down to level with the newly hatched vulpix.
"Woah the egg hatched" Sophocles said.
"Hello Snowy, it's a pleasure to meet you" Lillie said quietly.
"Vul?" the snow fox asked. (Mommy?)
Lillie went to pet Snowy on her head but hesitated.
"Lillie, you don't mean?" Mallow asked.
"You can't touch it" Lana said finishing Mallow's sentence.
"Come on Lillie, you can do it" Ash said encouraging Lillie to touch Snowy on her head. The class nodded beside her, and with a little more hesitation she managed to pet Snowy on her head, smiling brightly at her new mommy she jumped into Lillie's arms and cuddled into her new caregiver. Lillie hugged her new Pokémon tenderly as she cried tears of joy. Snowy licking up the tears.
Getting up she turned to her class and smiled brightly at them with gratitude. Snowy was nestled comfortably in her mother's arms.
"Thank you everyone for always believing in me" Lillie thanked with happy tears. The class all hugged her closely in a group hug. The professor looked on with pride, having seen and heard the whole thing.
"Hey Ash?" Lillie asked timidly.
"Yeah?" Ash said. Lillie walked closer and put snowy down on a nearby desk for a moment and looked at Ash and he could see the gratitude, thankfulness and love in them, those beautiful everald-yellow eyes he slowly began to love.
"I just wanted to say thank you for always believing in me, and everyone for encouraging me to get over my fear" Lillie said softly, walking up to grasp Ash's cheek gently. Ash blushed at how close the two were.
"N-no problem, Lillie" Ash said nervously.
"This is my way of saying thank you, I love you Ash" Lillie said before gently capturing his lips in passionate kiss. The class looked on in awe, but everyone smiled, both human and Pokémon.
(Later that night)
Ash and the Professor was at the house relaxing as the sun was setting, Lillie decided to tag along because at that moment she never wanted to be away from the one man who helped her over her fear.
The two were looking up at the stars as the two were nestled close to each other. Lillie rested her head on Ash's shoulder as he held her close.
"That was my first" Ash said.
"Hmm?" Lillie asked as she looked up at him.
"That was my first kiss" Ash said.
"Mine too" Lillie said.
"I always knew you had it in you, y'know. The class was with you the whole way" Ash said. Later the two decided to get ready for bed, Lillie took the couch while Ash slept in his bed. Lillie's song playing again as he slept peacefully, but there was one thought that was always on their minds.
'I'm so glad I met you' they both thought.
The camera slowly pans away as the house soon fell silent, the unlikely pair now had their class, there Pokémon and best of all they had each other, and they knew they never wanted to be apart for as long as eternity allowed them.
I'm aware I might've rushed or skipped a few parts, like that part where Lillie battles with Pikachu as a way to bond in the 'partner switcheroo' episode, or the pancake race part and skipped right to the egg hatching, and for that I sincerely apologize.
I'm sorry the battle was short and I apologize for that too, I was honestly thinking about Turtonator and Kiawe using their Z move during the battle, but I wasn't sure how to write the dialogue, and I wanted Lillie to see one thing that made Ash so special and unique.
I hope you enjoyed this story. Chapter two will be up after I finish my many other projects, I wanted to try an Ash x Lillie story so I hope I did good for my first one. Other characters like Goh and many other characters will come in Chapter 2 and 3, I haven't decided yet, although I cant leave Gladion out so expect him to make his appearance too.
