"Quite the Bizarre chapter, this one."
The Beacon Dance was almost here. Weeks worth of preparation were finally done, there wasn't anymore (immediate) homework due, and everyone was getting dressed for it. It was gonna be great! Just team RWBY relaxing and chilling after a semester's worth of endurance. Yep, just Weiss, her Bestie, Blake, her backup Bestie, and Yang, her sister… that wasn't Gay.
…But Yang's visit to that Girl Kissing bar was starting to suggest otherwise.
It couldn't have been to just get information on the White Fang, Ruby knew Yang's style, it was all:
Ask questions Show off some cool Kung-Fu moves if they don't answer Be outta there quick
But Yang wasn't outta there quick, in fact, she was in there for… a while.
…Maybe there were some tough opponents in that bar? But, Ruby didn't hear any fighting in there, normally there'd be a KABLOOEY, SKIRRRRSHHHH, and a WATCHAWWWW.
Yang… Yang wasn't a Girl Kisser, right?
Her Big Sis, who took care all her life after Summer and Raven left together, after Dad shut down, she couldn't have been one… right?!
…
But then, Yang and Blake stepped out of the dorm room… interlocked in each other's elbows.
Yang was wearing a sleeveless, white skirt with frills at near the bottom, and Blake was a black skirt with a slit near the end. Blake's dress made sense, she always wore black, but Yang's… Yang usually wore yellow, white was something that Weiss would've worn, heck, Ruby even saw Yang wearing a yellow skirt back at Signal!
No, the both of them wearing black and white was like… was like they were trying to go for a monochrome look! A theme! If they were going to do a theme, they would've done one together, as a team! But those two were only theming their outfits with each other, something that only couples would do.
"Hey, sorry for taking so long, Rubes, uh, things were getting a little bit… antsy in there, and we were having some… uh, trouble." Yang said with a blush… A blush?! And Blake, too?!
"Ahem, uh, anyways, Weiss said that she was going to the dance ahead of us, ri-"
"Yang… Are you a Girl Kisser?"
A bead of sweat slowly dripped down Yang's face, "Huh? Ruby, what are you talking about-" But Ruby had already disappeared in a burst of petals from
where she stood, and had reappeared right next to Yang.
Ruby quickly, yet precisely licked the bead of sweat off of Yang's cheek. This taste…
"This taste… is the taste of a Girl Kisser, Yang Xiao Long!"
"Hang on, Ruby, I can explain-"
"Enough of your lies, Yang! Grrr… Gosh dangit, I'll Kick your Keister, with the power of my Spirit, [Roses Red Part 2]!"
Just then, the wolf-like Spirit manifested in front of Ruby with its shimmering red cloak, gigantic and crooked, silver sheened scythe in hand, swung down at Yang, ready to send her to the Ever After.
But the blade was stopped.
A slender and tall, bipedal panther-like spirit caught the blade with its paws, a purple aura radiated around it.
Of course… Spirit users always attracted other Spirit users.
Ruby looked just past Yang, and saw Blake with her hands brought up, and curled up in front of her, like a cat, "[Black the Beast]… is the name of my Spirit, heh, I didn't know there was another Spirit user on our team."
[Black the Beast] shoved [Roses Red Part 2]'s scythe to the side, the blade crashed into the wall, digging a hole.
Tears welled up in Ruby's eye, whether they were from sadness or frustration, she didn't know, "Of all the people to be a Spirit user AND a Girl Kisser… You were my Backup Bestie, Blake! How could you?!"
Blake took a crooked smile, and took a low, prowling stance, "Heh, I've stolen Yang all for myself, and there's nothing that you can do about it!"
Ruby shook her fist at Blake, "You'll rue the day that you ever became a Girl Kisser! [Roses Red Part 2], show her that there's no Happy Ending!"
[Roses Red Part 2] conjured up a storm of razor sharp petals, and sent them towards [Black the Beast]'s way.
But [Black the Beast] was nowhere to be seen, it was like it poofed into thin air, at least, that was until Ruby felt something [Menacing] from beneath her.
[Black the Beast] shot out from her shadow, its claws swiping at her, Ruby barely managed to Petal Burst out of the way.
"Since you've been such a good teammate, I'll give you a hint: My Spirit's Ability is [From Shadows], it allows it to appear and disappear out of any shadow." Oh, Blake was taunting her, she revealed Spirit's secret because she was just that confident she would win, even with the handicap. Well, Ruby would show her… she'd show her what being a scheming Girl Kisser would get her!
Ruby thought of running outside to get a bigger arena, but realised that it was already night time, it'd be impossible to combat Blake's Spirit with all of the darkness outside, no, Ruby would have to aim directly at her, and finish this fight in one fell swoop.
[Roses Red Part 2] readied itself for its ultimate attack, [Scene Fades Black], a mountain of rose thorns erupted from the floor, all converging towards Blake. The crescendo had already reached Blake in the blink of an eye, the climax of the battle was already here, the thorns reached her chest, and pier-
"Remnant to Ruby~" Yang called out to her.
"Wha…?"
Yang raised her eyebrow, "You've been staring at us, cross-eyed, for the past 5 minutes, I said we had to get going, or else we were gonna be late."
"Huh? Oh, yeah, right, let's uh, l-let's do that…"
Blake raised a question, out of concern, "You looked like you had something on your mind… is everything okay?"
"Uh, yeah, yeah, t-there's nothing wrong… Um, just nervous about the dance, is all, (y-yeah)." Words were not wanting to word for Ruby at this exact moment.
"Aw, don't worry, Rubes, I'm sure you'll find someone to dance with, maybe even a special someone?" Yang said as she wiggled her eyebrows.
To be honest, Ruby didn't really feel much of anything for anyone, whether that was regarding… icky stuff, or romance, for that matter. She just needed Besties that weren't Girl Kissers.
"Uh, yeah, definitely, Yang (definitely)," but Ruby just went along with what Yang was saying.
Neither of them needed to know that.
…Especially when she knew that she could no longer trust either of those Girl Kissers.
