The culmination of Ruby's journey was here, at last.
The Brothers were waiting on her statement, the one that would decide Remnant's fate…
A moment of a reflection was needed, what was the true root of all of her problems?
Her two Mothers left her Dad for each other… he never really recovered after that night.
Ruby even thought that he would get out of his stupor after she joined Salem, and declared war on the world… But he never came. He was still too hung up from his love.
Adam's sick, twisted love was the cause of his downfall, if he had just gotten over Blake, it would have never led to the downfall of the White Fang.
Emerald's love for Cinder was what led her to switch sides back at Atlas. She thought that she could stop the war, and redeem Cinder… she was a fool to believe that plan would ever go somewhere…
Yang and Blake… They were the face of the side against her. They did exactly what Summer and Raven did to her Dad. Their love for each other mattered more to them than her.
And then, there was Salem, her most unexpected ally in all of this. Salem had promised her vengeance and retribution, but that also would have come at the cost of Remnant as a whole. Salem was corrupted, despite what she showed, Salem might have been the person that had the most love of all. Her undying love for Ozma was what caused her to go against the Brothers in the first place. It's what eventually led to her curse.
But what was love? Love could be a word used to describe something that One cherished deeply, it didn't have to be a person.
No. what they all had in common, what the root of all of Ruby's and the world's problems was…
"Romance," Ruby exclaimed. "Romance is the reason for all of the world's problems. Salem's retribution and hatred for you two was because of her love for Ozma. I have had countless friends and family turn their backs on me, and others for the sake of Romance. If we got rid of Romance, there wouldn't be any more problems in the world."
"... So be it," The Brother of Light proclaimed.
The Brother of Darkness chuckled, "I continue to be surprised by what you mortals come up with, after all of these millenia, I would have never expected this outcome."
And then, the world was washed over with a wave of light, it was overwhelmingly blinding, yet, the light was not bright, it was the deepest, darkest black the the mind could not even imagine.
Tomorrow would be a new, prosperous day.
