Purple wasn't entirely sure what woke him up,but something woke him up and he didn't know why.
It wasn't a nightmare, that's for sure, so what was it?
Glancing around his pitch black room, trying to adjust himself to the darkness, he suddenly heard something.
Quiet, almost impossible to hear whimpering.
What the hell?
Purple quietly got out of bed and followed the sound of whimpering towards King's room.
Yeah, there's definitely something wrong.
"Hey...leave...leave him alone!"
Purple stopped dead in his tracks.
Yep, King's having a nightmare.
"Leave Purple alone. Please!"
About...him?
Purple edged closer to King's bed.
"Hey, King, wake up. It's just a dream, wake up!" Purple began shaking King's arm, trying to get him to snap out of it.
King suddenly gasped himself awake, frantically looking around before noticing Purples hand still clutching his arm.
"Purple?"
"Yeah, it's me."
King suddenly lunged at him, something Purple wasn't expecting, and held him close.
"Oh, thank goodness your okay."
Purple slowly hugged him back. "Relax, King. It was just a dream. I'm here. It's okay."
"No, it's not. Those people, they...they tortured you and they made me watch! And then...they..." He was hardly able to hold back a strangled sob as Purple hugged him tightly.
"They?"
"Navy and his friends."
Oh. It was that kind of nightmare.
Man, Purple hated having nightmares about Navy. King having one about him was just way worse than he thought.
"Hey, it's okay. I'm not dead, or in some life threatening danger or anything. At least not anymore. I'm right here, safe and sound. Okay?"
King glanced up at him. "Okay."
Purple smiled, about to walk back to his own room before King grabbed his hand.
"Can you just...stay? Please?" The hurt in his friends voice stabbed deep into Purple's heart.
Purple turned back towards King and climbed in next to him.
"Don't leave me. I can't lose another kid." King muttered.
"I'm not leaving you. Okay? I'm always gonna be here, just like you. Kay?"
"Okay."
"At least you can sleep knowing I'm not dying right before your eyes."
"You very nearly almost did. I thought you died in that collapse!"
"But I didn't."
"I know but...I thought you did. I almost lost you that day, Purple, and that hurts a lot to think about. I love you so much, kid, and I'm so...scared of you dying or leaving me or something that tears us apart."
Purple was silent as King sat next to him in a sobbing mess.
"King, we're never gonna be apart. I'm always here with you, no matter what. Okay?"
King wiped some of his tears away. "Okay."
Purple hugged him tightly. "I love you, King."
King hugged him back tighter. "I love you too, Purple. So much."
