Phoebe Buffay Turns Her Music Hobby Into A Career:
Phoebe Buffay loved music and played the guitar and also performed songs that she had written herself in Central Perk cafe. Her friend Joey Tribbiani wanted to learn how to the play the guitar. Phoebe claimed that she had never learnt the names of the guitar chords which had lead her to have nicknames for the chords in how her hand looked when she played the chords. The nicknames included old lady, bear claw, and turkey leg. She was very offended when Joey had touched a guitar and learnt the real names of the guitar chords when Phoebe had told him not to.
She also did a gig in the local library and had come to an early years sing and story group where she sang a song about sexual orientation which horrified the children's parents. But that same afternoon they went to find Phoebe. They entered Central Perk Cafe.
"Is this where the woman that tells the truth?" asked the boy.
Phoebe smiled.
"She is here!" shouted the boy signalling his friends to come. The group of children came in and sat on the floor in front of her and listened to one of her songs. Phoebe was so touched and could not believe that a group of children had become her fans.
One of Phoebe's songs Smelly Cat became hit and was used in a cat food advert. She also became famous thanks to her twin sister Ursula who had pretended to be her and had made a porn film called Buffay The Vampire Layer.. Chandler, Joey, Monica, Rachel, and Ross had started watching it and wanted to made sure that Phoebe didn't see it. Unfortunately Phoebe walked in and had began watching it and thought that Ursula was really her and was horrified on what she was doing.
After teaching herself guitar and began singing her own songs Phoebe loved watching reality TV talent shows such as American's Got Talent, American Idol , and The X Factor USA as she could relate to the contestants who went on these reality TV talent shows and like her were amateur singers and wanted to make their music hobby to become more and be famous and be top recording artists. Phoebe loved these shows loved watching the contestants journey throughout the show and see which one would win the entire show and get $250,000 and a recording contract. Phoebe dreamed of entering one of these reality TV show as she felt that they would change her life. But she felt that she was not good enough so she went to meet Chandler, Joey, Monica, Rachel, and Ross about wanting to apply to one of the three reality TV shows that she watched as she felt it could possibly change her life forever.
She met them at Central Perk Cafe.
"Hey guys!" she called.
"Hey Phoebes!" said Chandler, Joey, Monica, Rachel, and Ross in unison.
"I have got something to tell you" said Phoebe.
Chandler, Joey, Monica, Rachel, and Ross were eager to know what Phoebe wanted to talk to them about.
"I thinking of applying to one of the three reality TV shows that I watch they are American's Got Talent, American Idol, and The X Factor USA. But do not which one" she told them.
Chandler, Joey, Monica, Rachel, and Ross looked at Phoebe.
" I think you should go The X Factor USA as even if you do not win I'm sure whatever mentor you get will help you become successful. Is that right you guys!" Ross replied and Chandler, Joey, Monica, and Rachel all nodded at Ross's suggestion.
"Oh thank you, you guys!" Phoebe said.
So with that Phoebe left and went home and applied to go on The X Factor USA. She decided to do a background check on The X Factor USA judges who included Callum Simmons who was a record producer and had a record label called CALSO, L.B. Reed who was the CEO of his record label Moozika Magpie, as well as music solo artist Bryony Stares, and Kelis Rutland who was also a solo artist and use to be part of the group Darling's Child so had an idea of the people she was auditioning in front of and decided to write a song about her and would sing it at her audition.
She then went to her for her audition and decided to sing the song she had written about The X Factor USA judges instead of doing a cover version of another artist's song.
She headed to the audition room after Olivia Dermont the host of the show wished her luck. She went the four X Factor USA judges who included Callum Simmons on the end and alongside him were L.B. Reed, Bryony Stares, and Kelis Rutland.
Phoebe stood on the X which was on the middle of the floor and greeted them and told them her name, age, and where she was from. She sang the song she had written about The X Factor USA judges which they all found the song hilarious and she said to her that it was very brave of her to sing one of her own songs instead of choosing to do a cover version of another artist's song and they put her through to the next round which was the boot camp stage where she sang Smelly Cat and again she had the judges in stitches and was put through to the third stage of the competition where she would find out what category she would put into and which of the four judges would become her mentor. The categories consisted of The Boys (16-24), The Girls (16-24), The Over 25s, and The Groups. Phoebe was put into the Over 25s categories. Phoebe and her fellow contestants had been sent to a room and waited to see which judge would be walking through the doors. It was not long until the doors open and Callum Simmons appeared all the contestants including Phoebe were overjoyed and ran towards him and did a group hug. Even Callum was happy with being the Over 25s mentor. Bryony Stares got The Boys (16-24), L.B. Reed got The Girls (16-24), and Kelis Rutland got The Groups.
In the next stage of the competition the twelve contestants would go down to six and the judges would have to choose six competitors which would go onto the next stage where they would go to the judges' houses. Phoebe sanng the sexual orientation song that she had sang at an early years sing and story group which was located at the local library. After singing the song Callum thanked her and told her to wait backstage and Olivia spoke to her about whether she would go on to judges' houses.. Phoebe was then called back and Callum announced that she would be his final six which meant Phoebe was going to go onto the judges' houses stage. She could not believe her luck and decided to write a song about Callum.
Phoebe and her fellow contestants went to Callum's villa in Los Angeles and he intrroduced Leanna Levis who was a former winner of The X Factor USA and since winning the show she had gone on to have a successful music career. When Phoebe heard Leanna's story she had moment to herself and hoped she would one day come back and help one of the judges just like Leanna was doing now. That was if she went onto win the entire show.
She waited until it was her turn to perform infront of Callum and Leanna and sang her song about Callum which made both Callum and Leanna laugh. After her performance she when to her room to relax and had an anxious to find out whether she would be in his final three and go through to the live shows again Olivia asked how Phoebe was feeling she told Olivia that she was feeling very nervous as she had worked so hard to get to where she was as well as praying to get through to the live shows.
The next evening Phoebe went to meet Callum to find out her fate. He greeted her and told her to take a seat.
"Phoebe, I have really enjoyed you singing your own material and not doing cover versions of other artist's songs. However, the standard for your category this year is very high and it has been very difficult for me of who to eliminate and who to put through" Callum explained.
He remained silent for a couple of seconds.
"This is so hard!" he said to himself.
He then spoke.
"I'm so sorry to tell you this Phoebe, but your not in my final three!" he revealed.
Phoebe took a moment to take in the news that she had just been given by Callum.
She took a deep breath.
"Thank you" she replied and left the room before Olivia could grab her for a chat Phoebe walked straight past her and went to her room as she was not in the mood for talking to anyone.
Phoebe began packing her suitcase and headed home back to New York.
She was extremely depressed as she thought the show would change her life. She headed back to her apartment where her husband Mike was watching TV.
"Hey Phoebe" he said as she walked into the apartment.
"I did not get through to the live shows!" she told him.
Mike looked at her.
"Don't worry, I am sure Callum will contact you. M e and guys have been watching you and rooting for you!" he told her.
Phoebe smiled
"Thanks" she responded.
The next day she informed Chandler, Joey, Monica, Rachel, and Ross the news of not getting through to the live shows. Her friends consoled her and told her to be patient as something good might come out of it.
Even though she was eliminated from the show she decided to carry on watching The X Factor USA. Unfortunately Callum he was the first judge to loose his three Rutland's catergory The Groups won. A group called called The Sunshine Sisters won the show. Another one of her three acts called The Boston Boys were the runners up, and one of L.B. Reed's acts who was the girls (16-24) who was called Alexa Bulk came third.
Phoebe was happy for them but wished she had been at the live shows to experience the atmosphere of the audience and the comments she would be given from the judges.
After the show had finished Phoebe had no idea that her mentor Callum Simmons would be coming into the Central Perk Cafe.
After Phoebe had finished on stage she went back and sat down with Chandler, Joey, Monica, Rachel, Ross. When all of a sudden Callum appeared and went up to the counter to get a coffee.
"Phoebes, look it's Callum Simmons your mentor!" exclaimed Rachel.
Phoebe was starstruck she could not believe it.
"Go on Phoebes, go and and talk to him!" Ross suggested.
Phoebe nodded and headed up to the coffee counter.
"Callum" she said.
He turned around.
"Phoebe hey. How are you?" Callum asked.
"Just back to my old life you know" Phoebe told him.
Callum nodded and pulled out his business card and handed it to Phoebe.
"Here's my business card. Call me" he said as he left the premises.
"Oh my God!" said Phoebe to herself.
"You guys, look Callum gave me his business card!" Phoebe shouted.
Chandler, Joey, Monica, Rachel, and Ross smiled.
"What should I do?" she queried.
"Phoebes, contact him you will never get an opportunity like this again you did so well on the show!" Monica said to her.
Chandler, Joey, Rachel, and Ross nodded in agreement.
After getting her friends' advice she contacted Callum who admitted to Phoebe that he had made a huge mistake and advised her to reapply for The X Factor USA. But Phoebe decided to not to take his advice as the first time had left her heartbroken and said she would prefer to still have him as her mentor as in her eyes he was the best as he was the creator of the show and that it would be weird to have L.B. Reed, Bryony Stares, or Kelis Rutland as her new mentor as she had already got use to Callum. So a few weeks later Phoebe met Callum at his recording studio and the pair of them began discussing her new songs that she had written which Callum was rather impressed with and found them funny in a good way. They soon started recording Phoebe's songs
It was not long until her songs were on the radio, as well as touring the whole of the US in high end venues. Phoebe was so grateful to Callum as he had changed her life and was occasionally performing in the Central Perk cafe but was now earning a lot more money than her masseuse job income and decided to quit her masseuse job and turned her hobby of playing music into a career which she loved doing and did not regret her decision one bit.
