"Hi" Santana smiles, standing in front of the crowded booth, all eyes turn to Quinn.

"Hey" Quinn offers back, she can't help but smile, that absolute goofy smile that she hasn't seen in years and a part of her hates that all it takes is a Hi from Santana Lopez and all of her defenses come crumbling down.

"Can I steal you for a few?" Santana asks

"No need" Kurt smiles "We were just going to get the karaoke part of this night started anyways, please sit here Santana"

"Thanks K" Santana smiles, embracing the boy

Quinn nods, finishing her old fashioned before the gleeks fan out of the booth, allowing Santana to scoot in.

"Your earrings are nice" Santana smiles

"Thanks" Quinn smiles, reaching up to touch them, also making a mental note to thank her mom.

The two sit, awkwardly in silence for a few minutes but Quinn wants to ask Santana if she still plays the piano, if she still drives that old beat up Jeep, if Quinn is someone Santana misses, if Santana's girlfriend sleeps on the same that Quinn slept on, but instead, all that comes out is "How's the weather down south"

"How is the weather down south? Seriously? It's been five years and…..Wait, is that a metaphor for something Q?" Santana throws her head back laughing and it's the same laugh she had in High School which caused milk to shoot out of Quinn's nose. "Are you being inappropriate right now Quinn Fabray?"

"Moving On" Quinn's eyes instantly close because she walked right into that one and didn't even realize it.

Santana looks around before leaning in "So, do you still have it?"

Quinn's eyebrows furrow "Do I still have what?"

"Don't play coy with me Emily Stark, you know what I mean. Do you still have it?" Quinn nods, reaching for the beer in Santana's hand while the other hand digs around in her purse. She slides the plastic card over "Still barely legal"

"Still might be related to Penelope" Santana laughs, reaching into her own purse "And since you have zero manners, which I will be talking to Judy about by the way, we should grab a few more drinks and probably food because I'm sure you're still a lightweight Fabray"

Quinn laughs, flipping Santana off.

Quinn watches Santana who seems to be only interested in the song Kurt is currently choosing.

She wants to ask Santana if she's still breaking hearts like she did to hers in the basement that night? And it's not that Quinn wishes Santana was still hers but seeing her here tosses Quinn back five years too far back in time. Unable to contain it any longer, Quinn speaks up.

"Are you happier, San? Have you found someone?"

The question causes Santana to turn back towards the table, "Happier is subjective Q, I mean, I am happy in my career and being able to help my mom at the clinic, I am happy with the friends I have but as for finding someone? I have mixed feelings in reporting that the search still continues, because honestly, who finds their soulmate when they're seventeen" Santana lowers her head and when she looks up, Quinn is eighteen again "Where's the fun in that, right?"

Flashbacks hit Quinn, completely flooding her with memories of the two. Santana asking Quinn out, Santana being Quinn;s first kiss huddled by the garage, The two going to prom, Them being each other's firsts while the rain pounded on the roof, and then there's the breakup.

The breakup that still haunts Quinn's memories. Quinn thought they were endgame but then Quinn was accepted to Yale, Santana chose not to follow and Quinn's always wondered. Why? What if? She wonders if Santana has the same thoughts.

"You were destined for greatness Quinn" Santana exhales, picking at the label on her beer

"And… I wasn't"

Quinn's eyes water as she looks away "That's not true Santana"

"Don't be modest Q, we all knew it and deep down, you did too"

Quinn shakes her head "No, the part about you not being destined for greatness, you always have been. And you know how I know? I read your book"

Stunned, Santana's eyes widened " What? How the hell did you even know about that?"

Quinn smiles, looking over the girl's shoulder "You really think any amount of distance would stop me from keeping tabs on you, Santana Lopez?"

Santana rolls her eyes, laughing "Fucking Hobbit"

"Hey, be nice" Quinn playfully hits the girls shoulder "It was on the bestseller list and it absolutely deserved to be there because you" Quinn inhales sharply "Your words have always been your strength, and I don't mean the shield, you can't hurt me words, I mean the words that come from that huge, beautiful heart of yours. You can hide it from the world but don't ever forget Lopez, I know you."

Santana's eyes fill and she looks down "I have a hard time believing that, you don't even read fiction Fabray, especially cheesy romantic fiction"

Quinn laughs "I do when one of the people I love happens to write them"

A smile spreads from one side of Santana's face to the other and it causes Quinn to return the gesture.

"Tell me all about New York" Santana excitedly asks, leaning her arms on the table

"That seems to be what everyone wants to know about tonight. It's beautiful and I love my life there but" Quinn sighs "I miss you"

Santana smiles "I miss you too Q"

"No, I don't miss you like I miss Kurt and Rachel" Quinn shakes her head "I miss you way more than that."

Santana nods "I miss you the same way. Not a single day goes by when you don't cross my mind."

"If I pay for a ticket" Quinn smiles "Will you come visit me?"

Santana shakes her head "No"

Confused, Quinn's eyebrows furrow "No?"

Santana smiles "I can pay for my own ticket Q"
