Roxy's Reports 3: Dancho and Blue Angel
At Café Matsuo, in the evening after Chapter 4, but before Chapter 5...
"Testing, testing..." Yuhiro muttered into his phone, checking to see if it worked. Right now, he was in his room, with his laptop. Roxy would have done this Profile page, but she left for the hospital to visit Miyu. "Roxy's not here right now. This is Yuhiro Furutani, and tonight, I'll be covering the recent duels I was in."
He typed in a few things before continuing. "It all started after school today, when Roxy called to let me know of an emergency. Little did I know, it would result in one of my longest days in LINK VRAINS yet."
Yuhiro groaned as he remembered the entire day. He then typed down what he said, and then continued. "Monty, my boss, told me that someone stole files from the black market. The person turned out to be a representative of the Hanoi known as Dancho." Yuhiro looked up the word 'Dancho' on his tablet, as he was curious as to what it meant. "In Japanese, Dancho means 'Grandmaster'. Which makes sense, because, during our duel, Dancho admitted that he trained the Hanoi's soldiers."
He decided to cast any unknowns out of his mind, and instead focused on what he did know. "During the duel, Dancho used a Tenyi deck, a deck that focused on interactions in the Graveyard with the Tenyi Link Monsters. This is done by Special Summoning the Tenyi monsters to the field, but only if Dancho controls no effect monsters."
Yuhiro typed what he said into his laptop before picking up his phone again. "Right now, his ace monster is a Link 3 monster, just like my own. It's called Draco Masters of the Tenyi, and its ability is a deadly one. Not only can it not be destroyed in battle with an effect monster, once per turn, it can destroy effect monsters equal to the number of non-effect monsters on the field and/or in the Graveyard." He remembered when Dancho activated that effect. If it weren't for Cyreath Salvation, Yuhiro would have lost.
But it was Dancho's Skill that nearly made him lose the duel. "Dancho's Skill is called Ultimate Technique. Upon activation, he can target one monster he controls, and it can attack all monsters on the opponent's side of the field. It took a huge comeback for me to defeat him." He typed it all in.
Still, there was something that bugged him, so he decided to type his thoughts as well. "When I wounded Dancho's Link Monsters, he was upset. This is unusual, especially for a member of the Hanoi." Which brought up the question: Why would Dancho care for his monsters? He made a note to investigate the matter once he had the chance.
By the time he was finished, the Profile looked like this:
Name: Unknown (will update once I get more information)
VRAINS ID: Dancho (In Japanese, it means 'Grandmaster'.)
Other Aliases: Grandmaster of the Hanoi
Gender: Male
Age: Mid-50s (rough estimate)
Residence: Unknown
Job: Training Hanoi grunts (that's what it looks like on the surface, but since he was called in to deal with me personally, perhaps he has a bigger responsibility than I anticipated.)
Deck: Tenyi
Ace Monster(s): Draco Masters of the Tenyi (He seems to really care for his Link Monsters. For instance, when I used Grapple-Snatch on Monk of the Tenyi, he was upset. Need to watch out for that.)
Skill: Ultimate Technique (Once per duel, Dancho can target one monster he controls, and by doing so, that monster can attack all monsters on the opponent's side of the field. Deadly if you're not prepared.)
LINK VRAINS' History: Not too much right now, but considering how he trained the Hanoi grunts, he must have appeared at the same time they appeared
Duel Grade right now: A (Apocalyptic) (Even though Dancho looks like an old man, my god, does he move like a young one. His Tenyi monsters have different effects in the Graveyard that can really piss an opponent off if they're not prepared. Also, he can release chi-strikes from his fists. What the hell?!)
Notes: Dancho's Tenyi deck is about the interactions in the Graveyard between the Tenyi monsters and the Tenyi Link Monsters. This is done by Special Summoning the Tenyi monsters to the field, but only if Dancho controls no effect monsters. The Tenyi monsters each have unique abilities, from decreasing attack points to resurrection, etc. Worst part is, they can be activated during either player's turn.
Weird thing is, even though he's a member of the Hanoi, he cares about his Link Monsters. It's... odd. I'll have to investigate further.
One down, one to go, Yuhiro thought, as he finished typing up Dancho's Profile. He then spoke into his phone. "The next profile I'll be doing is based on Blue Angel, or as she's known in the real world, Aoi Zaizen. I thought that my day was over after defeating Dancho, but boy was I wrong."
He recalled the events in his head. "I was going to refuse Blue Angel's duel when Roxy told me to accept... for Miyu's sake." Upon saying Miyu's name, his mind went back to the evening before this occurred, when he visited her in the hospital, and his continuing promise to not give up on her, causing him to slightly blush.
I can't think of that right now, Yuhiro thought, as he brought the phone closer to his mouth. "Anyway, Blue Angel uses a Trickstar deck, and her ace monster is a Link 2 monster called Trickstar Holly Angel." He then scratched his head. "The Trickstar deck's main strategy is to inflict small amounts of effect damage over time, which are triggered by the opponent's actions. They also disrupt the opponent's plays by locking Set Spell or Trap cards before forcing the opponent to either use it or send it to the Graveyard."
Yuhiro sighed. Trickstars were a pain in the ass for him. "The Trickstar deck has three further strategies. The first one is Special Summoning themselves to the field through various effects. By doing this, Blue Angel can Link Climb efficiently. The second one is their immense searching and revival power. By searching and reviving, if not careful, you'll be overwhelmed within a couple of turns. The third one is all about chain reactions. If one Trickstar inflicts effect damage, Blue Angel can chain the effects of other cards to inflict further effect damage, making those harmless stings turn into wasp stings."
He stretched his hands. Typing grew tired for him, but he had to finish. "Finally, Blue Angel's Skill is called Trickstar Fraud. By discarding a card, the opponent has to draw until they have three cards in their hand. Also, at the End Phase, the opponent must banish a card from their hand for each Trickstar monster in Blue Angel's Graveyard. If Blue Angel really wanted, she could use Trickstar Reincarnation to make the opponent banish their hand and draw the same amount of cards, resulting in further damage."
After typing all the information in, this was what Blue Angel's profile look liked:
Name: Aoi Zaizen
VRAINS ID: Blue Angel
Other Aliases: The Idol of LINK VRAINS, Akira Zaizen's little sister (that's what everyone calls her these days. I treat her like an individual.)
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Residence: Penthouse Apartment (Her brother worked hard for the place.)
Job: Charisma Duelist (and #2 at that. Well done!)
Deck: Trickstar (This deck was a pain in the ass as well.)
Ace Monster(s): Trickstar Holly Angel (even though it's a Link 2 monster, she managed to utilize her efficiently during our duel.)
Skill: Trickstar Fraud (By discarding a card, the opponent has to draw until they have three cards in their hand. Also, at the End Phase, the opponent must banish a card from their hand for each Trickstar monster in Blue Angel's Graveyard.
LINK VRAINS' History: First appeared among the Charisma Duelists and quickly rose to #2. She's held the record for a long time, but I defeated her (and hopefully, that should ward her off from challenging Playmaker.)
Duel Grade right now: B (Badass) (Blue Angel is a very strong duelist. However, as I identified, she's only dueling so her brother will notice her. If she finds a real reason to duel, and gets stronger, I'll consider bumping her up to A (Apocalyptic).)
Notes: Blue Angel's Trickstar deck focuses on inflicting small amounts of effect damage over time, which are triggered by the opponent's actions. They also disrupt the opponent's plays by locking Set Spell or Trap cards before forcing the opponent to either use it or send it to the Graveyard.
The Trickstar deck also has three further strategies. If one Trickstar inflicts effect damage, Blue Angel can chain the effects of other cards to inflict further effect damage, making those harmless stings turn into wasp stings.
As I've noticed, Aoi hates being referred to as 'Akira Zaizen's little sister'. She told me that everyone uses her to advance themselves (I wish there were something I could do to help her, really.)
Fun fact: Miyu was, and still is, Aoi's childhood friend growing up (I only learned this from Roxy today, actually. Still something I didn't know about.) If Miyu were to wake up, I think Aoi's life will become a little easier.
Yuhiro yawned. He was tired from his duels, and was glad to get these Profiles done. After saving his work and turning off the computer, he headed for room. Roxy, I do hope the duel works, he thought, as he climbed into his bed and went to sleep.
