Roxy's Reports 5: Watchman and Ghost Girl

At Café Matsuo, in the nighttime, before Chapter 9...

"This is Herald, the White Ignis..." Herald said, talking to himself. "As my partner and his ally are asleep, they've designated me to record the profiles of the opponents we faced today."

Herald gathered his thoughts before continuing. "The first profile I'll be covering for tonight is Watchman. Unfortunately, nothing is known about him, other than a couple of things." As he said this, the words appeared on the laptop screen. The fact that Yuhiro's Duel Disk was wired to the computer made it easy for him to think and type his thoughts at the same time without touching the keyboard. "We don't know his real name, age, his LINK VRAINS' history, etc. This guy is like a ghost."

The words appeared on the screen as Herald said them. "But we do know a couple of things. For instance, his VRAINS ID is Watchman. And we learned that he was formerly part of the Hanoi, which pissed Yuhiro off. He also mentioned something about a coming 'Crisis'. Based on the way he said it, something is coming. But whether it's the Hanoi or something worse, I'm not sure."

Herald put a hand to his chin as he recalled the duel. "Anyways, Watchman uses a 'Cubic' deck, which focuses on either engaging or destroying monsters in battle in order to evolve. The core component of the deck is Vijam the Cubic Seed. When that monster battles, it goes to the Spell & Trap card zone as a Continuous-Spell card before putting a 'Cubic' counter on the attacking monster. With that counter, the attacking monster can no longer attack, nor activate its abilities. It can also return to the field on his next turn, making it a pain to deal with."

Watchman really did humble you, didn't he, Yuhiro, Herald thought, as he turned his head to look at his sleeping partner. "Each Cubic evolution requires one more Vijam the Cubic Seed than its predecessor, until he summons the third and final form. Watchman's ace monster is called Buster Gundil the Cubic Behemoth, which, if summoned using three Vijam the Cubic Seeds, not only gains 3000 attack points, but can attack three times." Even with that effect, Yuhiro still survived, Herald thought, as the words he spoke appeared on the screen.

"Watchman also has 'Cubic' Spell and Trap cards supporting his monsters." Herald continued. "However, I have a feeling that Watchman didn't show us his full power. Perhaps he was holding back on us on purpose. Or he's hiding a dark secret. One that could consume him if not controlled."

The information was all on the computer screen as Herald analyzed it before coming to a conclusion. "Based on the information presented, if I were to give Watchman a Duel Grade, I'd give him an SS for Sick Skills." He sighed. This was one of the grades Roxy decided for her grading scheme? He'd confront her later about them.

But for now, he continued talking. "The fact that Watchman was able to not only use his deck with ease, but respond to our moves efficiently makes him worthy of that Duel Grade. If he shows more of his power, I think I'll have to bump it up."

With the information on the computer screen, Herald was able to put Watchman's profile together, which looked like this:

Name: Unknown

VRAINS ID: Watchman

Other Aliases: Unknown

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown

Residence: Den City probably

Job: Former member of the Hanoi, which makes him an overseer? An observer?

Deck: Cubic

Ace Monster(s): Buster Gundil the Cubic Behemoth (it has a deadly effect. Very good for finishing the opponent off in a turn.)

Skill: Unknown (better not be broken, that's for sure.)

LINK VRAINS' History: Unknown

Duel Grade right now: SS (Sick Skills) (The fact that Watchman was able to not only use his deck with ease, but respond to our moves efficiently makes him worthy of that Duel Grade. If he shows more of his power, I think I'll have to bump it up.)

Notes: Watchman's Cubic deck focuses on either engaging or destroying monsters in battle in order to evolve. It also returns to the field on his next turn, making it a pain to deal with.

He also has 'Cubic' Spell and Trap cards supporting his monsters. However, I have a feeling that Watchman didn't show us his full power. Perhaps he was holding back on us on purpose. Or he's hiding a dark secret. One that could consume him if not controlled.

Yuhiro was pissed off upon learning that Watchman was once a part of the Hanoi, which led to him getting humbled in a heartbeat. I do hope he learns from his lesson.

He also mentioned something about a coming 'Crisis'. Based on the way he said it, something is coming. But whether it's the Hanoi or something worse, I'm not sure.

One duelist down for the night, one to go, Herald thought, as he put down the finishing touches on Watchman's profile. "The second and final duelist for the night is Ghost Girl. Unfortunately, Yuhiro and Roxy have a bad history with her, which I won't go into, out of respect for both of them. Although I do hope they reconcile with each other soon, as she can be a strong ally."

Herald gathered his thoughts before continuing. "Unlike Watchman, we do know stuff about her. For instance, her name is Emma Beesho, her VRAINS ID is Ghost Girl, and her job as a treasure hunter/mercenary." Honestly, why do I have to write about her, Herald wondered, as the words appeared on the screen. Yuhiro and Roxy would have a better job doing this.

He shook his head, knowing that complaining won't get the job done. "Ghost Girl uses an 'Altergeist' deck, which focuses on mainly disruption and swarm tactics to get the job done. A smart strategy, I must say, as if she carefully sets her field up, she can bounce cards back to her opponent's hand like they were nothing." The words appeared on the computer screen. "Her ace monster is the Link 3 Altergeist Primebanshee, which can bring out other 'Altergeist' monsters to zones it points to in exchange for tributing other ones."

Herald looked at the file on the computer, which contained a video recording of Ghost Girl's duel against Playmaker. "Based on the video recording, Ghost Girl's Skill is Secret Cure, which lets her excavate cards from her hand until she draws a monster. From there, she adds it to her hand, and both players gain life points equal to that monster's attack." As Herald said this, more words appeared on the computer screen.

The information was all on the computer screen as Herald analyzed it before coming to a conclusion. "Based on the information given, I'll probably give Ghost Girl an A for Apocalyptic for now. While her dueling skills are impressive, they can be broken through with the right cards. Suggestions for improvement include either including a boost of offensive power, negation, or Hand Traps. If she implements these, I might consider giving her an S for Savage."

With the information on the computer screen, Herald was able to put Ghost Girl's profile together, which looked like this:

Name: Emma Beesho

VRAINS ID: Ghost Girl

Other Aliases: The Mean Lady (Progleo came up with that nickname), Wild Card (an alias I came up with myself, as her allegiance is only to herself.)

Gender: Female

Age: Mid-20s (my theory.)

Residence: Apartment in Den City (Roxy told me this, as she's been to her apartment a few times for coffee chats)

Job: Treasure Hunter, Mercenary, is currently working for Akira Zaizen (ultimately, her allegiance is only to herself in the end.)

Deck: Altergeist

Ace Monster(s): Altergeist Primebanshee (while it has a reasonable amount of attack points, it does help with swarming and recovery options if needed.)

Skill: Secret Cure (lets her excavate cards from her hand until she draws a monster. From there, she adds it to her hand, and both players gain life points equal to that monster's attack.)

LINK VRAINS' History: Worked for several clients for several years, including for Yuhiro's boss Monty (won't disclose further information, as the two humans told me to keep it private.)

Duel Grade right now: A (Apocalyptic) (While her dueling skills are impressive, they can be broken through with the right cards. Suggestions for improvement include either including a boost of offensive power, negation, or Hand Traps. If she implements these, I might consider giving her an S for Savage.)

Notes: Ghost Girl's Altergeist deck focuses on mainly disruption and swarm tactics to get the job done. A smart strategy, I must say, as if she carefully sets her field up, she can bounce cards back to her opponent's hand like they were nothing.

Was once friends with Roxy and Yuhiro, but then something happened that caused a fallout between them. I won't put it down here until they're ready to talk about it.

She has partnered with Yuhiro in the past. Progleo and I will keep an eye on her in case doubtful (after all, if she turns bad, I'll just sic Progleo on her until she yields.)

Whew, Herald thought, as he saved his work and shut the laptop down. "Time for a nap." He then retreated into Yuhiro's Duel Disk for a nice sleep. After all, everyone would need it for tomorrow's mission.
