Roxy's Reports 6: SOL's AI's, Akira Zaizen and Watchman (Updated)
At Café Matsuo, in the afternoon, a day after Chapter 9...
"What's this?" Progleo asked, as he sniffed his nose around Roxy's laptop.
"That is Roxy's laptop, little buddy." Yuhiro answered, as he picked the cub up from the table and putting him down at the chair beside him. "And she won't be happy if she finds out there's drool all over it, okay?"
Progleo nodded in agreement. It had been a day since Yuhiro infiltrated SOL Technologies for the information Watchman requested. Even though he and Roxy managed to get the data inside the mother computer, they were unfortunately left with more questions than answers, which clearly sucked.
"If I find out what exactly?" Roxy asked, walking into the kitchen while carrying a tray containing two burgers for them and a small burger for Progleo. "Here's lunch, everyone." She put the two plates on the table for Yuhiro and herself before putting the small one on the ground. "Eat up, everyone." As she headed to her seat, Progleo jumped off his and started munching on his meal.
"Are you ready for the next Profile page, Yuhiro?" Herald asked him, as he emerged from Yuhiro's Duel Disk.
"Next two actually, Herald." Yuhiro clarified, taking a bite of his burger. "Whenever the lady's ready."
Roxy put her burger down on her plate as she grabbed her laptop and opened up a new, blank document. "Okay. Who do you want to cover first from last night: SOL's AI's, or Akira Zaizen?"
"I say we get those mindless AI's done first." Yuhiro answered. "We can then put more detail on Akira Zaizen."
"Okay." Roxy typed up some information on her laptop for a few minutes before asking Yuhiro her first question. "You faced two of these AI's, correct?"
"Correct."
"Could you tell me their deck, their ace monster, and their strategies?"
Yuhiro thought about it for a minute before responding. "SOL's AI's use a 'Tentacluster' deck, which revolves around two strategies. They either force the opponent to discard cards from their hand, resulting in deck destruction, or inflict small portions of effect damage via chained effects."
"It's rather disappointing," Herald pointed out, "that SOL chose to copy Blue Angel's strategy for the deck. They got some nerve."
"Their ace monster is the Link 3 Tentacluster Nautilus, which is essential for triggering the effects of the other 'Tentacluster' monsters." Yuhiro continued, ignoring Herald. "The AI's also have a Skill called Triple Draw, letting them draw three cards from the top of the deck."
Roxy put that information down on her computer. "I gotta say, when you used Cyreath Goblin on one of those AI's, I couldn't help but laugh. Definitely shows that Kitamura is a dumbass!" She laughed as she remembered that moment.
"He may be a dumbass, but he does know how to make multiple copies of them." Herald added. He turned to Yuhiro. "Say, Yuhiro. Would you give these AI's the same grade you gave for that Knight of Hanoi you dueled a while back?"
Yuhiro took a bite into his burger as he thought it over. "I think I'll give them a C for Crazy. While they lack originality, they were actually more of a challenge than those Hanoi grunts."
"Alright." Roxy put down the information into her laptop. Once she compiled it and looked it over, the profile for SOL's AI's looked like this:
Name: SOL Prototype AI
VRAINS ID: SOL Prototype AI
Other Aliases: SOL AI (not original, Kitamura.)
Gender: None
Age: Less than a day (Kitamura really should have trained them better.)
Residence: SOL Technologies
Job: Whatever SOL Programs them to do (isn't that the obvious?)
Deck: Tentacluster
Ace Monster(s): Tentacluster Nautilus
Skill: Triple Draw (the user gets to draw three cards from the top of their deck once per duel.)
LINK VRAINS' History: Made by Kitamura to stop Playmaker, Raguel, and Blue Angel from advancing further into the data bank, as well as retrieving Playmaker's Ignis (there's also a rumor that Kitamura is mass replicating them. Hopefully not to take over SOL. Otherwise, he's a wacko.)
Duel Grade right now: C (Crazy) (Although they lack originality, their differential strategies did present more a challenge than those Hanoi grunts.)
Notes: The AI's Tentacluster deck revolves around two strategies. They either force the opponent to discard cards from their hand, resulting in deck destruction, or inflict small portions of effect damage via chained effects (how dare they copy Blue Angel's Trickstar strategy! When I get my hands on Kitamura...)
Tentacluster Nautilus is key to the deck's strategy, as it destroys all monsters in zones it points to so the effects of the destroyed monsters can activate.
You know, the only interesting thing about the Tentacluster archetype is that they're based off of living and dead fossil creatures.
Nothing much else to say about these AI's, other than that they're ineffective against almost every duelist (and I say almost for a reason.)
"That's a pretty good sum up of these AI's, Roxy." Yuhiro said, reading it over. "But please don't tell me you intend to strangle Kitamura."
"Maybe." Roxy admitted. "After all, he sued Café Matsuo, which is Strike 1. He copied Blue Angel's strategy, which is Strike 2."
"And once he gets to Strike 3," Herald finished for her, "he's out of the ballpark!" The two humans, even Progleo, looked at Herald as he said that. "What? Don't you know what that means?"
"Moving on." Yuhiro said, changing the subject. "Let's get to Akira Zaizen, shall we, Roxy?"
Roxy nodded her head, as he created some blank space to begin typing her information down. "Let's see here. I already got most of the information, especially his LINK VRAINS' history." She turned her head to Yuhiro. "But you and Herald have to tell me about Akira Zaizen's deck and its strategy."
"It was rather an interesting deck." Herald replied, as he recalled the duel between Playmaker and Akira. "A Flip deck based off of geometry-related elements, the 'Tindangle' deck focuses on Flip Summoning monsters to activate nasty effects. Those effects include adding any 'Tindangle' card from the deck, flooding the field, and stalling until the right moment."
"Akira Zaizen's ace monster is Tindangle Acute Cerberus, which can be Special Summoned from the Extra Deck through the activation of a Trap card, but only if he has specific 'Tindangle' monsters in his Graveyard, mainly Tindangle Angel and Tindangle Hound." Yuhiro continued. "From there, Akira utilizes protection for his ace monster through a combination of Nagel's Protection, Euler's Circuit, and Gergonne's End. Once all the zones Acute Cerberus is pointing to are filled up, he can send them all to the Graveyard to finish his opponent off."
"While it's a tricky deck to master, if used correctly, it can seriously annoy an opponent, even Playmaker." Herald finished for Yuhiro. "I'm just glad he and Ai were able to win in the end."
"I see," was all Roxy said, as she put the information down. "And what grade would you give Akira Zaizen?"
Yuhiro proceeded to think about it, but Herald beat him to the punch.
"Let's give him an A for Apocalyptic," Herald immediately said. "His skills as a duelist make him a formidable opponent. However, if he upgraded his deck, it probably would be a good idea to bump it up to S for Savage."
"Okay then!" Roxy said, typing what Herald said into her laptop. By the time she finished, Akira's profile looked like this:
Name: Akira Zaizen
VRAINS ID: Akira Zaizen
Other Aliases: Aoi's older brother
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Residence: Penthouse apartment in Den City along with Aoi (he deserves it too for his hard work!)
Job: Former security chief of SOL Technologies (poor guy got demoted for saving his sister. How unjust of SOL to do that to him!), now has an office job at SOL Technologies
Deck: Tindangle
Ace Monster(s): Tindangle Acute Cerberus
Skill: Unknown (I can't picture him Speed Dueling, that would be weird.)
LINK VRAINS' History: Used to be the security chief of SOL Technologies. He was responsible for the VRAINS scan that made it vulnerable to the first Hanoi attack. Akira also hired Go first to try and capture Playmaker's Ignis the proper way before hiring Ghost Girl to set a trap for him. Under threat by both Revolver and Infearno, he was forced to let Playmaker go.
Since then, he's been demoted for his failures and replaced by Kitamura (come on! Kitamura? Seriously?!)
Notes: Akira's Tindangle deck revolves around Flip Summoning to both stall and gain effects, adding any 'Tindangle' card from the deck, flooding the field, and setting it up for the right moment.
His ace monster is Tindangle Acute Cerberus, which can be Special Summoned from the Extra Deck through the activation of a Trap card, but only if he has specific 'Tindangle' monsters in his Graveyard, mainly Tindangle Angel and Tindangle Hound. What I like about his deck is that, like a brother protecting a sister, the Hound protects the Angel, and the angel revives the Hound (I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about).
From there, Akira utilizes protection for his ace monster through a combination of Nagel's Protection, Euler's Circuit, and Gergonne's End. Once all the zones Acute Cerberus is pointing to are filled up, he can send them all to the Graveyard to finish his opponent off.
He was the reason Aoi became Blue Angel, for he read her said story book to her many years ago. After their parents died, he worked with criminals, but only to earn money so they could survive (I can't blame them. After they died, all their possessions were sold, and had nothing). Even though they're step siblings, he loves Aoi as real family would. Aww.
"This is..." Yuhiro said, looking over the profile. "This is a deep profile you made, Roxy. Makes me regret scaring him last night."
"I told you before," Roxy said, taking a bite of her burger, "you'll get those powers of yours under control. Trust me."
Yuhiro smiled in assurance in hearing that. Suddenly, he remembered something else that happened last night. "Watchman dueled Ghost Girl last night."
Roxy raised an eyebrow. "He did? And who won?"
"Who do you think?" Herald said. "Watchman obviously. Only this time, he used Cubic Kings instead of Cubic Beasts." He thought it over as he recalled the duel. "There are two differences between the Cubic Beasts and the Cubic Kings. While the Cubic Beasts gain additional attacks with each evolution, the Cubic Kings can inflict 800 points of damage when they're Special Summoned from the hand, in exchange for less attack power."
"The fact that Watchman can control the Cubic Beasts and the Cubic Kings makes him a formidable opponent." Yuhiro said, taking a bite of his burger. "Do you think we should update his profile.
Roxy typed the information down on her computer. "Already did, buster. Look." She turned the laptop so Yuhiro and Herald could look at it. While it was mostly the same, there were a few updates.
Name: Unknown
VRAINS ID: Watchman
Other Aliases: Unknown
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown
Residence: Den City probably
Job: Former member of the Hanoi, which makes him an overseer? An observer?
Deck: Cubic
Ace Monster(s): Buster Gundil the Cubic Behemoth (it and the other Cubic King monsters can attack multiple times. Very good for finishing the opponent off in a turn), Indiora Doom Volt the Cubic Emperor (effect damage plus a reasonable amount of attack points? If used in conjunction with other cards, it makes the Cubic Kings deadly.)
Skill: Unknown (better not be broken, that's for sure.)
LINK VRAINS' History: Unknown
Duel Grade right now: SS (Sick Skills) (The fact that Watchman was able to not only use his deck with ease, but respond to our moves efficiently makes him worthy of that Duel Grade. If he shows more of his power, I think I'll have to bump it up.)
Update: (Watchman recently showed more of his power in his duel against Ghost Girl, being able to inflict effect damage and disrupt her disruption strategy. What else could he do if he decides to get serious?)
Notes: Watchman's Cubic deck focuses on either engaging or destroying monsters in battle in order to evolve. The core component of the deck is Vijam the Cubic Seed. When that monster battles, it goes to the Spell & Trap card zone as a Continuous-Spell card before putting a 'Cubic' counter on the attacking monster. With that counter, the attacking monster can no longer attack, nor activate its abilities. It also returns to the field on his next turn, making it a pain to deal with.
He also has 'Cubic' Spell and Trap cards supporting his monsters. In his duel against Ghost Girl, Watchman also has a Hand Trap called Aum the Cubic Lotus to respond to her moves. However, even though Watchman showed more of his power, he's showing restraint, which tells me that something is going on. Perhaps he's hiding a dark secret. One that could consume him if not controlled.
Yuhiro was pissed off upon learning that Watchman was once a part of the Hanoi, which led to him getting humbled in a heartbeat. I'm glad he learned from his lesson.
He also mentioned something about a coming 'Crisis'. Based on the way he said it, something is coming. But whether it's the Hanoi or something worse, I'm not sure.
"That was fast." Yuhiro commented, looking over Watchman's updated profile. While it was mostly the same, there were a few changes to it.
"Whenever someone we encounter or know gets stronger, I'll be sure to update their profile." Roxy promised.
The three of them soon heard a loud burp from Progleo. "That was delicious!"
After looking at Progleo, Yuhiro leaned over the table and whispered to Roxy, "Say, Roxy. How are we going to get you-know-what into you-know-who?"
Roxy finished her burger before whispering back, "Leave that to me, buster." A mischievous smirk appeared on her face as an idea appeared in her mind.
