Roxy's Reports 28: The Guzik Family
Nearby Café Matsuo, one day after the events of Roxy's Reports 27...
"Yusaku! Wait up!"
Yusaku, who had been walking down the road to Café Matsuo, stopped walking so Takeru could catch up to him.
"Are you going to Café Matsuo, too?" Takeru asked him.
"Considering how there isn't much to do, I am. Besides. Roxy wants to do some profiles on the Guzik family." Yusaku answered. Both statements were indeed true. Thanks to the Turf War, Den Academy was closed in person for the next few weeks, the school having shifted to online learning. If there was one bad thing that came as a result of the online learning, however, it was really simple. And that answer came from the voice of a small Ignis from Yusaku's duel disk.
"You know, Yusaku. I never thought I'd spend more time with you then I am right now." Ai said. With Den Academy closed, that meant Ai didn't have to hide in public. Now, he can talk with Yusaku out in the open, who muted him in response for two reasons. One: So he wouldn't give himself away. Two: So Ai wouldn't distract him during class. That... wouldn't have been good at all.
"Same here, Ai. I never thought I'd get to spend more time with Takeru. But unlike you, where you're practically an irritating goofball, I have manners." Flame stated.
"Oh please, Flame! If you were in my shoes, you'd understand what it's like being holed up in a duel disk!" Ai retorted.
"Be quiet." Yusaku and Takeru told their respective Ignis'. The last thing either of them needed right now was an argument, especially one that would get loud and blow their cover. And on good timing too, as both individuals eventually realized they made it to their destination.
"There you guys are!" Yuhiro called out to them, the duo walking over to the counter. "Roxy was wondering when the both of you would arrive."
"Come on, Yuhiro. I had to run to get here." Takeru told him.
"At least until you caught up to Yusaku over here." Ai pointed out.
"Hey, where's Kusanagi?" Yuhiro asked.
"He has a lot of customers, so he's busy for the day at Café Nagi." Yusaku answered.
"Aw man. That sucks! I was looking forward to the magnificent six coming together to discuss a crime family!" Arashi called out from the back, walking over to the counter where the others were.
Upon seeing Arashi, Ai and Flame giggled. "Since when did you wear an apron?" the former cheekily asked him.
"I'm simply helping out. After all, I live here for the time being." Arashi replied, before going over and pressing a button on the steward bot, turning it on in the process. "Anyhow, let me get the door for the both of you." After going over and opening the door, Yusaku and Takeru entered inside Café Matsuo.
"I have to say, your place is actually really good, Yuhiro." Takeru said, looking around the area as he and the others went upstairs.
"It's nice. After all, having a fast food restaurant as a front lets Roxy and I conduct the network operations in total secrecy." Yuhiro responded, the quartet having made it upstairs, where they found Roxy and Herald arguing.
"I'm telling you, Roxy. With these new speakers, it can pick up our voices and transfer the information to the profiles!" Herald firmly stated.
"There's nothing wrong with the speakers on my computer, Herald. They've been working for a long time now." Roxy replied.
Herald, in response, crossed his arms. "Please. Those speakers will eventually run out of juice, and I'm only suggesting my idea so there's no roadblocks to the creation of these profiles."
Roxy sighed, exasperated by Herald's comment. "Look. When there's a problem with my speakers, I'll find a more affordable option. Not one that's expensive." She would have said more had she not turned to where the others were. "Ah, Yusaku. Takeru. Welcome to the upstairs of Café Matsuo. Although I see you guys are missing one. Where's Kusanagi?"
"Café Nagi's busy today with customers, so Kusanagi has his hands full." Yusaku answered. "You mind if we sit on one of those couches?"
"Yeah, sure! Sure! Come on right in!" Roxy gestured Yusaku and Takeru to one of the couches, which the duo went over to before sitting down on them. Arashi and Yuhiro, on the other hand, went over to the other couch and sat on it. Meanwhile, Roxy went over to the kitchen to get some drinks.
"Now, Takeru. Allow me to explain how these profiles work," she stated. "The purpose of these profiles is to document our enemies to the letter. Their history, their deck, their strategies. They all go down to the profile. And once that's done, we put a duel grade on them."
"A Duel grade?" Takeru repeated out of confusion. "What in the world's-?"
"D-D-Don't ask." Arashi begged, remembering what happened when he made fun of the duel grades.
"Duel Grades basically classify how strong our enemies, and allies are based on a lot of things." Roxy explained. "Yuhiro, why don't you show Takeru the profile we made on him?"
"Takeru, I hope we get a good grade. After all, we are indomitable souls." Flame stated, turning to Takeru.
"Here, Takeru. What do you think?" Yuhiro asked, pulling up Takeru's profile before turning the computer and showing it to him.
Takeru, upon looking at it, thought it over for a few moments before speaking. "Yup. These descriptions are on point based on recent events."
"Although it still bytes that we didn't receive a higher grade." Flame added.
"And since Yusaku and I got a higher duel grade, that means we're better than the both of you!" Ai boasted, much to Flame's exasperation and Herald's annoyance.
"That can change, Ai. You never know what will happen in the future." Yuhiro, Arashi, and Herald pointed out at the same time. A few moments later, Roxy went over to the quartet and handed them juice boxes.
"Okay, gentlemen. It's time to talk about the Guzik family. Or in other words, a bunch of fighting-holics." Roxy pressed the button on the TV remote, which turned the screen on. As if on cue, Yuhiro created a total of four blank profiles before pulling the first one up. The television screen then showed a picture of all four Guzik family members before switching it over to Seamus Guzik. "As you all know, this is Seamus Guzik, the former leader of Gamma after being arrested by the authorities along with the others." Words were typed into the 'Name', 'VRAINS ID', 'Other Aliases', 'Gender', and 'Residence' sections.
"Wasn't Seamus the one who sent you into a fight ring?" Yusaku inquired.
"Yes, he was. But that was only because my clearance ticket failed. And Seamus proved to be a cheater at that." Yuhiro grudgingly answered, as words were typed into the 'LINK VRAINS' History' section.
"From what Herald told me and Flame, you had to battle a group of titans." Ai said.
"Unfortunately, Ai's right." Herald confirmed. "Roxy, would you mind changing the screen to show Seamus's deck?" Within a moment or two, Roxy pressed a button on the TV remote, which showed footage of Seamus's duel against Yuhiro. "Gentlemen, Seamus wields something called the 'Extra Deck Killer'. Or the 'Monarch' archetype, if you want to be simple about it."
"The 'Monarch' archetype?!" Flame repeated. "That archetype focuses practically shutting down the Extra Deck, as well as using consecutive Tribute Summons and effects to trip the opponent up. A pain in the ass, if you ask me." As if on cue, words were typed into the 'Deck' section of Seamus's profile.
"And that archetype has practically no ace monsters. Instead, the entire deck has an army of ace monsters." Herald finished, as words were typed into the 'Ace monster' section of Seamus's profile.
Yusaku thought this over for a moment before speaking. "We would certainly have trouble against this guy, and his duel against Furutani is proof of that," he admitted.
"All of us would?" Ai questioned. "Come on, Yusaku. You were the one that defeated Revolver, who created an Extra Link for crying out loud!"
"But we won that duel by a thread." Yusaku pointed out in response. "As for Seamus, everyone that relies on the Extra Deck would certainly have trouble against Seamus."
"We would indeed." Takeru agreed, the others silent in confirmation. "But something like that won't stop us! After all, we've been in trickier spots before!"
"Of course, Takeru!" Arashi agreed, trying to raise everyone's spirits. "We're all badasses here! Duelists that can't be beaten down that easily!"
"Well said, Arashi." Herald stated. "Well said, indeed."
"Say, Yuhiro. You said you went to Gamma a while back before our attack on it recently. When was that? And why did you go there?" Takeru asked out of curiosity, changing the subject.
"Yeah, I'm curious to know about that." Ai stated, with Flame nodding in agreement.
"A few months ago, Ghost Girl told me that Seamus had data from Project: VIII at Gamma." Yuhiro began explaining, much to the surprise of Takeru, Yusaku, Arashi, Ai, and Flame. "The two of us went to acquire the data, and even though there was a road bump in the mission, we not only got the data, but destroyed Gamma's database as well."
"I'll admit, that shocked me. But then again, that move was logical, as the destruction of information is far more impactful than armies." Roxy told the others, as words were typed into the 'LINK VRAINS' History' section.
"But how did Seamus get that data in the first place?" Ai questioned further. "I mean, come on. It's not like he dug it up from a data mine by chance!"
"He didn't. A man named Zero forced Seamus to keep it safe." Yuhiro answered, as words were now typed into the 'Notes' section.
Yusaku, upon hearing this, frowned. "Another unknown. That's the last thing we need right now."
"It's another mystery that has to be solved eventually. I mean.." Arashi chuckled. "Every mystery gets solved eventually, right?" Everyone was silent at that comment. "Right?"
"Anyhow, what duel grade should we give Seamus?" Roxy asked the others.
"Pardon me for asking this, Roxy, but what are duel grade options exactly?" Flame asked.
"D for Dismal, C for Crazy, B for Badass, A for Apocalyptic, S for Savage, SS for Sick Skills, and SSS for Smokin Sexy Style. As for the last one, don't ask me where that one came from. It's weird." Yuhiro replied.
"I know what we'll give Seamus. An S for Savage!" Ai immediately announced. "I mean, come on. Seamus having a deck that shuts down the Extra Deck, him conversing with this Zero guy we don't know about, and him nearly winning the duel against Yuhiro over here makes one hundred percent sense!"
The others, after hearing Ai's comment, basically nodded in confirmation.
"Alrighty! In that case, Seamus gets an S for Savage!" Roxy said, going over and sitting down between Yuhiro and Arashi. Once that was done, she typed this information in the 'Duel Grade right now' section. Upon doing so, she showed the completed profile to the others:
Name: Seamus Guzik
VRAINS ID: Seamus Guzik
Other Aliases: Gamma's Boss
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown (probably late 30's to early 40's). He's the eldest of the Guzik Family.
Residence: Den Penitentiary (he and the others surrendered themselves after Yuhiro promised they wouldn't die at Zero's hands. Just who the Hell is Zero anyway?).
Job: Leader of Gamma Branch
Skill: Unknown (he hasn't participated in a Speed Duel yet. Then again, a good majority of duels during the Turf War were Master Duels).
Deck: Monarch (known as the 'Extra Deck Killer', this archetype focuses on locking down the Extra Deck, as well as multiple Tribute Summons and effects to trip the opponent up. A pain in the ass, if you ask me).
Ace monster: No ace monsters (why have one ace monster when you have an army of titans under your command?)
LINK VRAINS' History: Having heard there was VIII data at their branch Raguel tried to use a Clearance ticket to gain access but due to Monty's death it failed and thus was imprisoned and forced to fight Muziano. Very foreboding.
After Yuhiro and the others escaped and set Gamma back, he forged an alliance with Ace and thus had to be stopped.
He cheated greatly with shock collars (and it affected Yuhiro quite a bit), but thankfully we overcame said unfair odds. Now under arrest and to stand trial.
Duel Grade right now: S (Savage) (Having the Extra Deck Killer made Seamus a very tricky opponent for Yuhiro to defeat. He struggled immensely, to the point where he kind of snapped due to stress).
Notes: Long ago a man named Zero forced Seamus to keep data on VIII safe, now that we have it wonder what it means for them, better look into who Zero is. Way too many unknowns already with the Azure assailant and Bohman at large.
Gamma is well known for its 'Survival of the Fittest' worldview.
With the first profile down, Roxy closed it up before pressing a button on the TV remote to the television screen, causing the TV to show a picture of Muziano. "This, gentlemen, is Muziano Guzik. The youngest of the Guzik family, despite his size."
"And a person who has a large pack of dogs at his disposal!" Arashi exclaimed, remembering his encounter against Muziano. As if on cue, words were typed into the 'Name', 'VRAINS ID', 'Other aliases', 'Gender', and 'Age' sections.
"It makes sense there. After all, Muziano's practically the face and star of the Gammadome rumble." Yuhiro said. "Following my failed attempt to get the Project: VIII data peacefully, I ended up dueling against Muziano in a cage match."
"We would have won that cage match had someone over here not killed the power." Herald stated, turning his eye over to Arashi, who chuckled in response. Words were then typed into the 'LINK VRAINS' History' section.
"I said I was sorry already. Sheesh." Arashi pouted.
"The both of you must have had your hands full against this guy, huh?" Takeru stated with a chuckle.
"Of course we did! If I recall, his 'Unchained' archetype focuses on destroying cards to reap the benefits of doing so. These benefits range from adding cards to Special Summoning, and of course, destruction. What's more, this can occur during either player's turn as well." Arashi responded, with words being typed into the 'Deck' section of Muziano's profile.
"So in other words, he's a giant, rampaging dog." Flame finished out of amusement. "One that has a short fuse, if you ask me."
"That makes sense, Flame. Especially with that ace monster of his." Yuhiro told him, as Roxy pressed a button on the TV remote, which changed the screen to show Unchained Abomination. "Gentlemen, Unchained Abomination is a Link 4 monster with 3000 attack points. If a card's destroyed by a card effect, Muziano can target and destroy one card on the field. If a monster is destroyed by battle, he can target and destroy one card on the field. And during the End Phase, he can target and destroy one card on the field. In other words, it's destruction, destruction, and more destruction." Those words were typed into the 'Ace monster' section of Muziano's profile.
"Thrice for this card too." Ai added. "I mean, considering what happened, we might as well give this giant guy an A for Apocalyptic." When everyone looked at Ai, he continued explaining. "I mean, he may be the youngest sibling, but he's a wild one."
"One whose arrogance can be used against him." Yusaku told Ai. "In other words, he's an angsty and angrier version of Go Onizuka as a bounty hunter." The others nodded in response to Yusaku's comment, which actually made sense. While Go maintained some sense of honour, it was mostly thrown out for his campaign to defeat Yusaku. Words were then typed into the 'Duel Grade' section of Muziano's profile.
"Alrighty! With that done, here's what the profile looks like!" Roxy announced, showing it to the others:
Name: Muziano Guzik.
VRAINS ID: Muziano Guzik.
Other Aliases: Guard Dog and Star Gladiator of Gamma.
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown (he's the youngest of the siblings despite his size and stature).
Residence: Den Penitentiary (he and the others surrendered themselves after Yuhiro promised they wouldn't die at Zero's hands. Just who the Hell is Zero anyway?).
Job: Head of security in Gamma as well as the face and star of their gladiator games.
Skill: Unknown (he only participated in Master Duels. Then again, a good majority of duels during the Turf War were Master Duels).
Deck: Unchained (an archetype that focuses on destroying cards to reap the benefits of doing so. These benefits range from adding cards to Special Summoning, and of course, destruction. This can occur during either player's turn as well).
Ace monster: Unchained Abomination (a Link 4 monster with 3000 attack points. If a card's destroyed by a card effect, Muziano can target and destroy one card on the field. If a monster is destroyed by battle, he can target and destroy one card on the field. And during the End Phase, he can target and destroy one card on the field. In other words, it's destruction, destruction, and more destruction).
LINK VRAINS' History: First met to duel Raguel as part of entertaining the crowd. He would have been defeated had the power not been cut which we now know is thanks to Slipstream.
Raguel wasn't the only one who had trouble, as Slipstream also had a taste in facing off against Muziano's dogs. Luckily, Muziano's arrogance was what made him lose the duel, as Slipstream was able to practically trick him before defeating him.
Duel Grade right now: A (Apocalyptic) (Muziano may be the youngest sibling, but he can practically tear people apart. Makes sense, as his short fuse and ferocious strength make him a powerful opponent. The former, however, can be exploited to defeat him).
Notes: Being a guard dog, he's shown to have a short fuse.
With the second profile done, Roxy closed it up before clicking on a new blank one. Once that was done, she pressed a button on the TV remote, which caused the TV screen to show a picture of Jayla. "As shown here, this is Jayla Guzik. While she's the second youngest of the siblings, she's known as the wild girl of the family." Words were typed into the 'Name', 'VRAINS ID', 'Other aliases', 'Gender', and 'Age' sections.
"Of course she's wild! She attacked me upon entry into her arena!" Takeru said, recalling the memory in his mind.
"Well, she is the Gamma Branch's punisher, Takeru. Someone in the family has to execute the disloyal ones, and Muziano can't do it. He's practically the poster boy of Gamma." Herald pointed out, words now being typed into the 'Job' section of Jayla's profile.
"Her wild nature wasn't the only thing we had to watch out for, right Takeru?" Flame asked.
"Obviously. Her deck proved to be a pain in the ass!" Takeru replied, motioning for Roxy to show the footage of his duel against Jayla. "See there? Jayla used the 'Ritual Beast' archetype, one that basically uses countless Contact Fusions."
"Aren't Contact Fusion monsters rare?" Ai questioned.
"They are, Ai. But it seems the footage proves otherwise." Yusaku answered. He only had two Fusion monsters in his deck. Cyberse Clock Dragon, which he had in his deck already months prior, and Diplexer Chimera, which Ai made for support.
"Continuing from where Takeru left off, the 'Ritual Beast' Fusion monsters have effects that trip the opponent up through various methods. This includes getting rid of cards, searching cards, increasing monsters' strength, building combos, etc. Jayla can also return her Fusion monsters to the Extra Deck and bring back its banished Fusion Materials to her field. And combined with other cards that require banishing cards makes Jayla deadly to deal with." Flame explained, as words were typed into the 'Deck' section. "I mean, she practically increased her life points to nearly above 7000!"
"Once we get onto the last Guzik family member, you'll see that Yusaku and I had to deal with a harder opponent." Ai stated.
"But we're not on Luc yet, aren't we Ai? So zip your yap!" Roxy ordered, much to Ai's fear and Herald's amusement. She then pressed a button on the TV remote, which caused the screen to change to the point where Jayla Special Summoned Ritual Beast Ulti-Gaiapelio. "Jayla's ace monster is Ritual Beast Ulti-Gaiapelio, a Level 10 Fusion monster with 3200 attack points and 2100 defense points. Once per turn, Jayla can banish one 'Ritual Beast' from her hand to negate the activation of a card before destroying it. Simple as that." Words were then typed onto the 'Ace monster' section.
"I honestly expected for her ace monster to have the same effect like the others. Quite a let down, if you ask me." Arashi admitted, as he crossed his arms.
"All Ace monsters are different, Arashi. After all, it depends on the deck the duelist uses." Yuhiro commented. "Anyhow, what should we give Jayla in terms of a duel grade?"
"I think B for Badass would be appropriate." Flame replied. "Despite her feral appearance, Jayla still has brains. However, it's mixed with her ferocity in a duel, and this nearly defeated Takeru as a result. No wonder she deals with traitors, as punishing them is her specialty. Luckily, if you catch her off guard early, she can be defeated."
"Flame, you're forgetting that I had a bad hand at the beginning of our duel." Takeru reminded him out of annoyance, and as if on cue, words were typed into the 'Duel Grade' section of Jayla's profile.
"But the fact that we overcame the odds proves that together, we can conquer anything!" Flame countered with enthusiasm.
"Yeah. I guess you got a point there."
"And with this information, Jayla's profile is complete!" Roxy announced, putting the finishing touches on Jayla's profile before showing it to everyone else:
Name: Jayla Guzik
VRAINS ID: Jayla Guzik
Other Aliases: Wildest girl of the family (as per Takeru's words).
Gender: Female
Age: Unknown (she may be the second youngest of the siblings, considering her ferocity).
Residence: Den Penitentiary (she and the others surrendered themselves after Yuhiro promised they wouldn't die at Zero's hands. Just who the Hell is Zero anyway?).
Job: Punisher of the Gamma Branch (anyone who betrays the Guzik Family is sent to be her play toys in a forested biome where she picks them off one by one).
Skill: Unknown (she only participated in Master Duels. Then again, a good majority of duels during the Turf War were Master Duels).
Deck: Ritual Beast (an archetype that focuses on an endless amount of Contact Fusions just to trip the opponent up. This can include getting rid of cards, searching cards, increasing monsters' strength, building combos, etc. Jayla can also return her Fusion monsters to the Extra Deck and bring back its banished Fusion Materials to her field. And combined with other cards that require banishing cards makes Jayla deadly to deal with)
Ace monster: Ritual Beast Ulti-Gaiapelio (a Level 10 Fusion monster with 3200 attack points and 2100 defense points. Once per turn, Jayla can banish one 'Ritual Beast' from her hand to negate the activation of a card before destroying it).
LINK VRAINS' History: She briefly appeared when Raguel went to visit Gamma. Jayla was the one to confirm Monty's death.
Duel Grade right now: B (Badass) (Despite her feral appearance, Jayla still has brains. However, it's mixed with her ferocity in a duel, and this nearly defeated Soulburner as a result. No wonder she deals with traitors, as punishing them is her specialty. Luckily, if you catch her off guard early, she can be defeated).
Notes: Really messed up in the mind despite how 'normal' she appears on the outside. Reminds me of Harley Quinn.
With the third profile done, Roxy closed it up before clicking on the final blank template. While she did that, Yuhiro took the TV remote and pressed a button on it, which caused the TV to show a picture of Luc.
"This is Luc Guzik." Yuhiro informed the others. "He's known as the Promoter of Gamma Branch, and the second oldest of the Guzik Family. I can say that he actually has integrity among them. After all, promoters need to have honesty to sell their sales pitch." Words were typed into the 'Name', 'VRAINS ID', 'Other aliases', 'Gender', and 'Age' sections.
"Yusaku! That's the one who kept stealing our monsters for his Fusion Summons!" Ai recalled. "Especially that giant fish bowl of his!"
Herald, upon hearing this comment, laughed. "A giant fish bowl? Wow, Ai. Just. Wow."
"From all of the events that occurred, looks can be deceiving." Yusaku stated in a firm voice. "No matter what, we shouldn't underestimate what we're up against. After all, one false move, and it'll be our undoing." Everyone went silent for a minute after hearing Yusaku's comment.
"And with that out of the way, let's talk about Luc's deck." Ai said, getting everyone's attention before he went over and grabbed the TV remote from Yuhiro. He pressed a button on it, which showed footage of Luc's duel against Yusaku. "From what I recall, Luc's deck is called 'Invoked', which focuses on Fusion Summoning by banishing cards from either Graveyard for said summoning method, as well as preventing the opponent from negating it. The archetype's Fusion Spell card, Invocation, can be recycled again and again for Luc to set his combos up with. Its Quick-Play Spell card, The Book of the Law, lets Luc quickly bring out Fusion monsters and treat them as Fusion Summons just by tributing a Fusion monster, and Magical Meltdown enables him to Fusion Summon without interference." Words were typed into the 'Deck' section of Luc's profile. "And Luc's Fusion monsters proved to be challenging too. We faced a total of four different ones, Yusaku. Each one practically tripping us up."
"Examples being?" Arashi inquired.
"Mechaba can negate effects, Purgatrio gains attack points and can attack all monsters once each, and Caliga restricts both players to one effect and attack per turn." Yusaku replied, with more words being typed into the 'Deck' section of Luc's profile.
Yuhiro, after hearing this, frowned. "That makes sense. Each of the Guzik family members have very strong decks. Ones that have its own strengths and weaknesses."
"If you think that's bad, take a look at this!" Ai told Yuhiro, as footage of Luc Fusion Summoning and using Invoked Elysium was being played. "Invoked Elysium is a Level 10 Fusion monster with 3200 attack points and 4000 defense points. While it's face up on the field, it has EVERY SINGLE ATTRIBUTE, except for the Divine attribute of course. Once per turn, Luc can target one 'Invoked' monster on his field or graveyard and banish it to banish all monsters the opponent controls that have the same attribute." As if on cue, words appeared on the 'Ace monster' section on Luc's profile.
"All attributes..." Takeru thought this over before suddenly coming to a realization. "In a sense, Luc's like Bohman!"
"Now that you say that, you may be right Takeru." Flame agreed.
"The only problem is that Bohman's monsters thrive on not only his opponents monsters having the same attribute, but negating them as well." Yusaku stated. "In my first duel against Bohman, he used Property Spray to change Cyberse Magician and Cyberse Witch's attributes to Water."
"Yes, but keep this in mind, Yusaku. Luc can use Elysium's effect during either player's turn to banish all monsters with the same attribute as Elysium. And since Elysium has every single attribute except for Divine, Luc has total flexibility in the duel." Ai told Yusaku. "In addition, as Mechaba's a Light Attribute Fusion monster, Luc can simply send a card from his hand to negate Bohman's cards before banishing them. Without targeting them as well!"
"Ai's right, you guys." Herald admitted. "Luc would certainly have a great chance in defeating Bohman, and his cards prove it. Unless Bohman pulls a Deus Ex Machina and pulls an overpowered 'Hydradrive' Link monster from the Data Storm, of course."
"Thus giving Bohman an ace in the hole in a hypothetical duel between him and Luc." Yuhiro finished. The entire conversation was uploaded into the 'Notes' section. "Fujiki, since you dueled Luc, what duel grade should we give him?"
"A B for Badass." Yusaku immediately responded. "Of the Guzik family, Luc's the most honorable of all of them. His deck can make people trip up, especially how he can steal his opponents monsters and get rid of them for his Fusion monsters. And combined with his Fusion monsters, Luc can practically bulldoze his opponent to the ground." Yusaku's answer was written in the 'Duel Grade' section of Luc's profile.
"As long as Bohman doesn't pull a Deus Ex Machina, of course." Ai reiterated.
"Anyhow, I think I got the details in here. Gentlemen, this is Luc's completed profile!" Roxy announced, as she put the finishing touches on Luc's profile before showing it to the others:
Name: Luc Guzik
VRAINS ID: Luc Guzik
Other Aliases: Promoter for Gamma Branch.
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown (despite Luc's size, he's the second oldest of the siblings. After all, big things come in small packages).
Residence: Den Penitentiary (he and the others surrendered themselves after Yuhiro promised they wouldn't die at Zero's hands. Just who the Hell is Zero anyway?).
Job: Gamma Branch promoter (Luc provides intriguing offers to various individuals with potential and promises them quick money or rise to stardom as pro duelists. Of course hiding a catch in their contracts).
Skill: Unknown (only participated in Master Duels. Then again, a good majority of duels during the Turf War were Master Duels).
Deck: Invoked (an archetype that focuses on Fusion Summoning by banishing cards from either Graveyard for said summoning method, as well as preventing the opponent from negating it. The archetype's Fusion Spell card, Invocation, can be recycled again and again for Luc to set his combos up with. Its Quick-Play Spell card, The Book of the Law, lets Luc quickly bring out Fusion monsters and treat them as Fusion Summons just by tributing a Fusion monster, and Magical Meltdown enables him to Fusion Summon without interference. As for the Fusion monsters, they are very deadly with various effects. For instance, Mechaba can negate effects, Purgatrio can gain strength and attack all monsters each, and Caliga restricts both players to one effect and attack per turn).
Ace monster: Invoked Elysium (a Level 10 Fusion monster with 3200 attack points and 4000 defense points. While it's face up on the field, it has EVERY SINGLE ATTRIBUTE, except for the Divine attribute. Once per turn, Luc can target one 'Invoked' monster on his field and graveyard and banish it to banish all monsters the opponent controls that have the same attribute. A scary Fusion monster, indeed).
LINK VRAINS' History: Appeared briefly on Raguel's visit to Gamma. He outlined what happened to those who have Clearance tickets, yet their respective bosses are dead.
Playmaker defeated him, even though he experienced some trouble.
Duel Grade right now: B (Badass) (Of the Guzik family, Luc's the most honorable of all of them. His deck can make people trip up, especially how he can steal his opponents monsters and get rid of them for his Fusion monsters. And combined with his Fusion monsters, Luc can practically bulldoze his opponent to the ground).
Notes: Of the Guzik family, Luc is well mannered, which is a given to be a promoter for their Games.
In his duel against Luc, Playmaker stated that Luc's similar to Bohman. Makes sense, as both duelists use cards with multiple archetypes. If Luc plays his cards right, he'll have a great chance in defeating Bohman in a duel. After all, Bohman's Link monsters have multiple attributes, giving Luc more flexibility in dealing with them.
Satisfied that all four profiles are finally done, Roxy saved Luc's profile before closing her computer.
"Okay..." Roxy wiped the sweat off her forehead. "That was long. Well, not as long as the day Yuhiro, Herald and I had to go through a total of ten duelists in one sitting."
"Did you guys have lunch by any chance?" Roxy asked Takeru and Yusaku. "I can cook up some burgers really quick, if you like."
"I'll have that roundhouse burger please." Takeru requested.
"Got it! Aside from Yuhiro and Arashi's normal orders, do you want anything Yusaku?"
"Just a regular cheeseburger, please." Yusaku replied.
"Alright! Coming right up!" Roxy then began getting the patties before preparing to cook them.
"You want to know something guys?" Yuhiro suddenly said, getting everyone's attention. "Just being here... with all of you... brings a sense of community. Us, being a part of something bigger."
"I'm with you on that one, Furutani." Yusaku agreed with a rare smile.
"GAH! Yusaku's smiling again! It's freaky!" Ai shouted.
"It's something you'll have to eventually get used to, Ai. After all, no one can be grumpy forever." Flame told him, much to the amusement of others.
"Regardless, I do hope we'll all still be together when this is over." Arashi stated.
"I'm sure we will, Arashi." Herald promised. "Nothing will stand in our way of getting the missions done."
"I look forward to that day, where we won't have to worry about the unknown." Takeru added. "A peaceful future. Not just for us humans, but for the Ignis as well."
"I'm certainly looking forward to sharing that future." Ai added. "Hopefully, we won't lose anyone here. After all, family sticks together." Everyone else nodded in agreement, as that was certainly true. In a sense, they were like a family. One that will persevere through tough odds, no matter what they were.
Elsewhere, at the Den City courts...
Each of the Guzik family members were in front of a judge, sitting down at a nearby desk. Besides them was a male lawyer with glasses, along with brown hair that reached to the back of his neck.
On the left side of the room was a series of benches, which contained a group of twelve people sitting down in the rows. To everyone there, they were known as the jury.
In the witness' seat was a middle-aged man with no hair on the top of his head, who wore a simple, purple business suit.
"Mr. Roderick Torres," the male lawyer said. "In your professional opinion, was it good for the Guzik family to go into the fight ring business?"
"I did what I could to help the family at the time, Oscar. After all, they grew up on the streets, and I merely provided them with a place to start." Roderick answered.
"But were you aware that the Guzik family willingly decided to join forces with Akihiko Akutagawa following the death of the previous Overseer, Santiago Degrood?"
"Objection!" a female lawyer suddenly cried out.
"I'll rephrase my question." Oscar stated. "What was attractive about fight clubs? More specifically, fight clubs that had duel monsters in them?"
Roderick thought it over for a moment before answering. "Uh, they help people cope with them being failures, it brings in people from different groups, and it helps shift their worldview."
"Shift their worldview, you say?" Oscar repeated. "So you're saying that it was worth endangering people such as the Guzik family here? To expose them to the harsh realities of this world, such as the belief of survival of the fittest? Information they shouldn't know about? Such as the information they gave to the courts upon arrest?"
"Your honor, he's asking my client to respond with unreasonable specificity," the female lawyer stated.
"Really?" Oscar turned to the female lawyer and raised his eyebrow at her. "You doubt the evidence? Then allow me to call upon my witness. Greg Ebihara, would you please rise and come to the witness stand?" Amongst the crowd, Greg stood up before going over to the witness stand and sitting on the chair. "Thank you for coming, Greg."
"No problem, Oscar. I'm glad to be here." Greg replied.
Oscar, in response, pondered for a moment before speaking. "Now, Greg. Would you mind clarifying to the audience here of the evidence the Guzik family presented in their testimonies? How Akihiko Akutagawa was, and currently is secretly assisted by someone known as a 'grim reaper'?"
"I can, Oscar." Greg confirmed. "Although I'll need permission from the judge to confirm the evidence on my phone." Once the judge nodded in confirmation, Greg pressed a few buttons on his phone to connect it to the large screen nearby using Bluetooth. The screen fizzled for a moment before showing various pictures, much to the audiences shock and horror. Various pictures of people were shown, with each one having injuries on them. Injuries that had purple scars on them in the chest area. From there, video footage was shown of Athaliah being killed, and what disturbed everyone was the aftermath. More specifically, where a purple-like goo substance cracked Athaliah's bones and ripped out her flesh before escaping. "The same purple goo that killed Athaliah Kuraishi came from the same creature that severely wounded these individuals. The ones who were put into the hospital by this creature."
"Now that, my friends is evidence right there." Oscar stated, before turning to the Guzik Family. "Is the evidence before you in line with your testimonies?"
"Of course it is!" Muziano confirmed. "While we heard rumors of this grim reaper, our suspicions were confirmed once our spies brought back one of our dead men to us!"
"Calm down, Muziano." Jayla placated her younger brother. "Yelling in court won't help us."
"It most certainly won't." Oscar added in a firm tone before turning to Greg. "Now, Greg. Do you have any other evidence of the appearance of this... grim reaper?"
"I have this." Greg answered, swiping across his phone, which caused a picture of Raguel and Malf's Speed Duel to appear before the courts. "I was lucky enough to get a sample of this following Athaliah's death. The forensics team thoroughly analyzed the sample and compared it with pictures before coming to a single conclusion. That sample is the same gunk that appeared on the victims in the network. It's also the same gunk that appeared on the creature known as Malf himself!"
Murmurs arose from the audience as the Guzik family thought this over. Though they testified against Ace, the fact there was new evidence... was intriguing.
In the audience, Yukage, who was wearing a hood, narrowed his eyes. Well. This isn't good, he thought.
Roderick was also shocked. To think that the Guzik family would side with someone that had a grim reaper at his disposal... was very surprising.
"Your honor, we would like a recess," the female lawyer requested in a firm tone.
"There's no need for that." Oscar countered. "Thank you, Mr. Ebihara for the evidence, as well as confirming that the Guzik family's testimonies are in line with it."
"I'm glad to be of assistance, Oscar." Greg replied, standing up from the witness podium before sitting down on a nearby chair.
"The jury will now make a decision," the judge announced, as the twelve members of the jury stood up before entering a nearby room. After five whole minutes, the twelve members then re-entered the courtroom before handing the judge a slip of paper. "All rise." Everyone rose from their chairs. "The jury has decided on your case. And the verdict is... undecided." Every single member of the Guzik family raised their eyebrows out of confusion. "While you are charged for aggravated assault and running an illegal fight club, in light of the evidence presented to us upon your arrest having been confirmed, your case is being re-evaluated. Expect a retrial date in the next few days. In the meanwhile, you will be placed in the Den City Jail. This meeting is now adjourned." As the people left the courtroom in single file, guards went over and put handcuffs on the Guzik family, some officers actually feeling sorry for them. Oscar went with them as they were escorted outside of the room.
Yukage, on the other hand, took a different turn before exiting the courtroom and the overall building. "This is not good," he said to Wraith, the latter emerging out of his duel disk. "Malf's getting predictable."
"And arrogant." Wraith added, as Yukage walked over to the nearby sidewalk before beginning to cross it.
"At the rate Malf's going, it's only a matter of time before the evidence is traced to us." Yukage seethed. Malf had to evolve soon, as otherwise, it wouldn't be good for him at all. "We'll have to teach Malf some new tricks for him to achieve victory."
"Indeed. We'll also need to make sure he evolves soon. After all, Malf will need more intelligence to stand against our enemies, especially with his humiliating defeat against Drachen." Wraith agreed.
Before Yukage could respond, a notification popped up on his duel disk. Seeing a message from the Light Ignis, he grinned. Now this... was good news. "It seems our little allies have woken up, and our operation has officially been green lit as well."
"Not only will the Knights of Hanoi horrifically suffer, we'll get rid of another criminal in this world. A bad one at that. If you ask me, the less criminals that live and breathe in this world, the better." Wraith stated, as Yukage walked into an alleyway before disappearing into the darkness, now knowing what needed to be done.
