Roxy's Reports 29: Creknurt and Raul Millard

At Café Matsuo, one day after the events of Roxy's Reports 28...

"Come on. Almost there!" Herald said, his eyes narrowing at the TV screen in front of him. Right now, he was playing Pokémon Legends: Arceus, where his character was currently in the process of acquiring an Alpha version of Ursaring himself. Apparently, he found out how powerful of a tank Ursaluna is, which practically motivated him to try and find the Alpha version of Ursaring so he didn't have to evolve it from a Teddiursa first.

Herald's game character (who was named Rei at Yuhiro and Arashi's insistence to keep things canon) quickly rolled out of the way, with Herald attempting to throw mud balls to slow it down. Eventually, he found an opening and sent out Staraptor to deal with it for a simple reason. Ursaring had a Fairy type move called Play Rough, which, as the name implies, deals massive damage to Fighting Type Pokémon.

"Now, Staraptor! Use Close Combat!" Herald declared, pressing the button to assign Staraptor the move, which drained Ursaring of his hit points. After Staraptor luckily avoided Ursaring's attack, Herald had Rei throw a Heavy Ball at it, which successfully captured it. "Yes! The Alpha Ursaring is mine!"

"I hope that was worth it, Herald. Because you ended up making a bunch of Teddiursa run away." Roxy pointed out before going over to the living room. Sure enough, the Teddiursa there ran away, as if realizing that the Ursaring protecting them was no longer there. "That Ursaring was their mama bear, and what you did made them motherless."

Herald rolled his eyes. "It was for a worthy cause, though. After all, I'm one step closer to getting Ursaluna. Now all I need is a peat block and a full moon to get this massive behemoth of a bear." Anticipating what Roxy will do next, Herald saved the game before turning off the Nintendo Switch. "Say, where's Yuhiro and Arashi?"

"Quinton needed some help at the Den City Shelter, so Yuhiro and Arashi went over to assist him." Roxy explained, before pulling up two blank templates on her computer. Once that was done, she grabbed the TV remote nearby and pressed a button on it towards the screen, which showed pictures of two people. The person on the right was Creknurt, and the person on the right was Raul Millard. "Since Yuhiro and Arashi aren't here today, it looks like the both of us will be doing this profile."

"Yup, and todays profiles will be on two douchebags." Herald replied. "Starting with douchebag number one: Creknurt. From my info on him, his name and VRAINS ID are the same thing, his former job was being the new boss of Omega, and other aliases include Little Goblin and an asshole." Words were typed into the 'Name', 'VRAINS ID', 'Other aliases', 'Gender', and 'Age' sections.

Upon hearing that last comment, Roxy laughed. Hard. "He really was an asshole," she said. "Especially with his history. I mean, after Monty's death, he took over Omega and saved it from ruin. Along with Epsilon, he ensured that Omega didn't fall under Ace's rule. That's the only thing good about him." Words were typed into the 'LINK VRAINS' History' section.

"Keep in mind, Roxy, that Creknurt resorted to kidnapping innocents to force others to join Omega. He even used some of the items Yuhiro acquired for Monty a while back, such as avatar enhancers. What's more, Creknurt made Kitamura work to supply AI duelists for further muscle." Herald countered, as words were typed into the 'Notes' section of Creknurt's profile. "I think we have an avatar enhancer or two to use, if I recall."

"It may be a good time to use it, especially with what's happening right now." Roxy replied, agreeing with Herald's idea. "Anyhow, let's get back on track." She pressed a button on the TV remote towards the TV screen, which showed Creknurt's duel against Gil. "Remind me to do a profile on Gil after we cover the Black Market villains."

Herald, in response, gave her a thumbs up. "Noted."

"For Creknurt's deck, he uses an old fashioned archetype called Goblin." Roxy began. "It focuses on a beatdown strategy composing of Level 4 monsters with high attack points. But in exchange, those monsters must change to face-up defense position afterwards. Creknurt also uses cards to support his ace monster Goblin King, such as changing the type of his opponents monsters to Fiend." Words were typed into the 'Deck' section of Creknurt's profile.

"And on the topic of ace monster, Goblin King is a Level 1 monster with no attack and defense points." Herald continued. "However, it gains 1000 attack and defense points for every Fiend monster on the field, and if Creknurt controls a Fiend monster, Goblin King can't be targeted for attacks." Words were typed into the 'Ace monster' section of Creknurt's profile.

"Hmm. I wonder what duel grade we should give to Creknurt." Roxy said, pondering her decision over before coming to a decision. "Oh, I know! Let's give him the lowest duel grade in the history of these duel profiles! Dismal with a -."

"Now that is good indeed." Herald agreed, as words were typed into the 'Duel Grade right now' section. "Creknurt's deck isn't much of a threat, as it can be easily stomped by many duelists in this day and age. He was also a pain in the ass to deal with, especially in how different he is compared to Monty. I'm just glad Hercules/Alpha Mode scared his troops shitless, especially how he has twelve lives and is practically invulnerable to low grade attacks."

"But high grade attacks can lower Hercules/Alpha Mode's lives, Herald." Roxy countered. "And you shouldn't be arrogant as well, for there are tactics that can severely deplete them."

"I'll keep that in mind. That being said, can you show me Creknurt's completed profile?"

"Hold on. It's coming up." Roxy answered, putting the finishing touches on Creknurt's profile before showing it to Herald:

Name: Creknurt

VRAINS ID: Creknurt (really? A goblin's name? Just pathetic, if you ask me).

Other aliases: Little Goblin, An Asshole (an obvious one. He literally looks like one!)

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown (he looks like he's in his late 30s to early 40s).

Residence: Den Penitentiary (just like the others, Creknurt's in this prison. Especially for the crimes he's committed).

Job: New Boss of Omega

Skill: Unknown

Deck: Goblin (an old fashioned archetype. Maybe more old fashioned than the other archetypes we encountered. This archetype focuses on strong Level 4 monsters with high attack points to beat the opponent up. However, they must change to face-up defense position afterwards. Creknurt also uses cards to support his ace monster Goblin King, such as changing the type of his opponents monsters to Fiend).

Ace monster: Goblin King (a Level 1 monster who initially has no attack and defense points. However, it gains 1000 attack and defense points for every Fiend monster on the field, and if Creknurt controls a Fiend monster, Goblin King can't be targeted for attacks).

LINK VRAINS' history: Creknurt took over Omega and saved it from ruin after Monty died. If one good thing happened under his rule, it's that he refused to join Ace.

Duel Grade right now: D- (Dismal with a -) (Creknurt's deck isn't much of a threat, as it can be easily stomped by many duelists in this day and age. He was also a pain in the ass to deal with, especially in how different he is compared to Monty).

Notes: Creknurt is more vile and despicable than Monty. One example being that he resorted to kidnapping innocents to force others to join Omega.

Also utilised some of the items Yuhiro acquired for Monty a while back such as avatar enhancers. Also recruited Kitamura to supply AI duelists for further muscle.

With the first profile down, Roxy saved it before closing it up and opening the blank one. "Alrighty. Now we can get onto the more interesting one of the two. Raul Millard, the right hand man of the Sons of Ajax himself, who's currently in Den Penitentiary with all the other criminal scum." Words were typed into the 'Name', 'VRAINS ID', 'Other Aliases', 'Gender', 'Age', 'Job', and 'Residence' sections of Raul's profile.

"A long time ago, Raul served as Jeff's right hand man. At least until Jeff married Hailee, who was known as Phoenix, and had Miles as a son." Herald continued, as words were typed into the 'LINK VRAINS' history' section. "After Jeff left the gang, Raul was forced to take command, and took matters into his own hands to deal with the Nightlock Predators. One day, he met the azure-overcoated-."

"Azure-overcoated. Azure-overcoated." Roxy interrupted, as she repeated the words. "Herald, we keep calling our mystery antagonist the azure-overcoated man. It's quite a roll on the tongue, if you ask me."

"It has." Herald admitted.

"What do you think of Azure Assailant instead? It's short, simple, and straight to the point."

Herald thought it over, then said, "That's actually far better. After all, I don't think either of us should be saying azure-overcoated man by this point."

"With that settled, we should continue talking about Raul." Roxy replied. "Continuing from where you left off, Raul met the Azure Assailant, where he saw him witness the Nightlock Predators' right hand man. In exchange for keeping quiet, the Azure Assailant gave Raul the credit for the kill and the supplies." Words were typed into the 'Notes' section this time. "As a result of that meeting, it set into motion a series of events that led to Miles' mom getting killed and Jeff going to jail."

"A true shame indeed." Herald agreed. "Following the Disbandment Armistice, the Sons of Ajax went out of commission. At least until the Turf War, where they reunited and joined Creknurt in exchange for the opportunity to kill Jeff and Miles. Which led to Norman Rodriguez's death, of course." Words were then typed into the 'LINK VRAINS' history' section.

"But let's get to the deck Raul uses." Roxy said, pressing a button on the TV remote and pointing it to the screen, which caused it to change to the duel between Raul and Miles. "Being an old deck, the 'Horus' archetype focuses on quickly getting Horus to its Level 8 form to lock down the activation of an opponent's Spell cards while it's on the field. Raul also used a two card combo with Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 8 and Royal Decree, which practically shuts down both of the opponent's Spell and Trap cards. As such, it uses more of a lockdown approach than a beatdown one." Words were typed into the 'Deck' section of the profile.

"Thus making it a far more efficient deck to deal with." Herald added, pondering the information over. "Even if it's old fashioned, it can still be tricky to defeat. I mean, Miles had some trouble against Raul."

"He sure did. But Miles managed to make a comeback and win in the process!" Roxy pointed out, before changing the screen to show Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 8. "As for Raul's ace monster, it's Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 8. Now this monster is actually a powerful monster, which has 3000 attack and 1800 defense points. During either player's turn, when the opponent activates a Spell card, Raul can simply negate and destroy the card, and its effect can be used more than once per turn. Nevertheless, there's more than one way to get rid of a troublesome monster like Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 8." Words were typed into the 'Ace monster' section of Raul's profile.

"So all in all, what duel grade does Raul get?" Herald asked Roxy, as she thought about it for a few moments.

"I'm thinking... C for Crazy." Roxy decided. "Raul was far more threatening than Creknurt regarding his actions and how they led to the events that caused Miles a lot of strife. His archetype, being a lockdown one, is more threatening as well." The words were then typed into the 'Duel Grade right now' section. "And with that, here's Raul's completed profile!" Once she saved the profile, she turned her computer to show Herald the profile, which looked like this:

Name: Raul Millard

VRAINS ID: Raul Millard (why does everyone use their real-life identities in the network?).

Other aliases: Right hand man of the Sons of Ajax

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown (he looks like to be in his late thirties to early forties).

Residence: Den Penitentiary (just like the others, Raul's in this prison. For what he did to Miles and Jeff, it makes sense).

Job: Right hand man of the Sons of Ajax

Skill: Unknown

Deck: Horus (an archetype that focuses on quickly getting Horus to its Level 8 form to lock down the activation of an opponent's Spell cards while it's on the field. Raul also used a two card combo with Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 8 and Royal Decree, which practically shuts down both of the opponent's Spell and Trap cards. As such, it uses more of a lockdown approach than a beatdown one).

Ace monster: Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 8 (a Level 8 monster that has 3000 attack points and 1800 defense points. During either player's turn, when the opponent activates a Spell card, Raul can simply negate and destroy the card, and its effect can be used more than once per turn. Nevertheless, there's more than one way to get rid of a troublesome monster like Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 8).

LINK VRAINS' history: A long time ago, Raul served Jeff until the latter married Hailee Shilton, Miles' mom and had Miles for a child, which led to the decline of their gang.

He intended to take out the Nightlock Predators himself, taking matters into his own hands.

The Sons of Ajax went out of commission for a long while after the Disbandment Armistice was put into action, but that came to an end when he and the rest of the gang joined with Creknurt and busted out Jeff to kill him and Miles for revenge, killing Norman Rodriguez in the process.

Duel Grade right now: C (Crazy) (Raul was far more threatening than Creknurt regarding his actions and how they led to the events that caused Miles a lot of strife. His archetype, being a lockdown one, is more threatening as well)

Notes: Raul met the Azure Assailant a long time ago, the latter agreeing to give the former credit for murdering the Nightlock Predators' right hand man. He even gave Raul 50% of the treasure too in exchange for staying quiet about their meeting. As a result of that meeting, it set into motion a series of events that led to Miles' mom getting killed and Jeff going to jail.

With both profiles done, Roxy closed them up, and was about to turn her computer off when Herald spoke up.

"Say Roxy, I found something on the Internet that could be an inspiration for Miyu's avatar." Herald said. "At least until she can log into the network one day after waking up."

"Oh?" Roxy raised an eyebrow out of curiosity. "What do you have in mind?"

"Since I can't use the Internet due to my idiotic actions a while back, please type in Anastasia from Fate/Grand Order." Herald requested, which Roxy did. After clicking on a link, a webpage popped up, which showed a beautiful, teenage girl that had long white hair. A portion of the hair consisted of a fringe that covered her icy blue eyes. She also wore an ornate white gown and a white fur cape with gold designs and blue lining. "Well. What do you think?"

"I mean, it's a great inspiration, that's for sure." Roxy admitted. "But whatever Miyu decides on for her avatar, it has to be her choice. Besides, the last thing I need is for Miyu to be lambasted for unintentionally copying someone else."

"I get what you mean, Roxy, but do you not recall the Playmaker copies a while back?" Herald countered. "I think there's some clips of it on the Internet, if you're willing to look it up."

Now curious, Roxy went onto YouTube and typed in 'Playmaker Copies'. Sure enough, there were literal clips of people both imitating Playmaker and copying his avatar just to get popularity. Unfortunately, they were targeted by either fanboys and fangirls, or the wrong crowd of people, which caused them to immediately change their avatar to normal out of fear they'd be targeted in the real world. Seeing this, Roxy laughed. "Oh yeah. I forgot about that," she said. "Regardless, you do get what I said a few seconds earlier, right Herald?"

"I most certainly do." Herald agreed. "Whatever Miyu decides for her avatar is ultimately up to her, and no one else. Still, I hope this provides some inspiration for Miyu."

"Me too, Herald. Me too."

"Say, Roxy. Do you know when Yuhiro and Arashi will get back?"

As if on cue, Roxy's phone vibrated, which she pulled out and looked at it. Upon doing so, she saw a text on it from Yuhiro. "Yuhiro, Arashi, and Miles are heading for the Den Jail to visit Jeff. I know for a fact there's going to be good news from that visit."

"Oh?" Herald raised an eyebrow. "How do you know?"

"Just a feeling. That's all," was all Roxy replied with.

Elsewhere, at the Den Jail...

"Okay, here we are, everyone. Welcome to Den Jail." Yuhiro announced, as he, Arashi, and Miles entered inside the building. While Den Penitentiary was a large building that housed a lot of criminals, this place was rather small, as it housed a smaller population of criminals. The criminals that were either waiting for trial, or those that committed minor crimes, such as robbery.

As Yuhiro and Arashi were helping out at the Den City Shelter, Quinton got a call from the Den Jail, who told him that Jeff wanted to see Miles. After the call, he called Miles over and told him about Jeff's request, the latter immediately wanting to see his dad upon hearing this information. Since Quinton was busy for the day, he had Yuhiro and Arashi go with Miles to the Den Jail, the both of them more than willing to do so for differing reasons. For Yuhiro, it was to be there for Miles. For Arashi, he just wanted to take a break.

"You know, considering what's happened, I think this is the part where the heroes think it's the calm before the storm before something catastrophic happens." Arashi commented.

"You play too many video games, Arashi." Yuhiro said.

"I'm with Yuhiro on that one." Mile agreed. "Reality doesn't always follow that logic." The trio eventually went over to a desk, where the guard gave Miles a clipboard with a piece of paper, which he had to fill out. After doing so, the guard opened the door for him.

"Wish me luck, guys." Miles stated, entering an area where there were various seats for visitors. On the other side were various seats for prisoners, with plexiglass separating the two. A phone was attached to one side of each of the desks.

Miles went over to one area, where he saw Jeff waving over to him. After sitting down, Miles pressed the button on the phone and grabbed it, immediately wanting to talk to his dad.

"Hey dad. How are you?" Miles asked.

"I'm doing fine, Miles." Jeff answered with a smile.

"That's great to hear, dad. So what's up? Why did you want to see me?"

Jeff's smile grew wide. "Miles, I have amazing news. The courts reviewed my case, as well as the good deeds I did in Omega, along with the Disbandment Armistice. They told me that I'll be out of here in three to five months time!"

Upon hearing this news, a mix of emotions were processed in Miles' mind. From relief to pure joy, these feelings were something he needed for quite a long time. "Dad... this is awesome! I'm so happy for you!" His joy, however, slightly diminished when he saw his dad's smile slightly go down. "I'm sensing there's a but here."

"There is, Miles. Upon release, I'll be on house arrest for a bit, and I'll have to do community service as well."

"Do you know how long?"

"I'm not sure." Jeff admitted. "But considering my good behavior here and my deeds, it shouldn't be too long. It's just one more hurdle to get through, and the two of us will be living together once again!"

"That's something I'm looking forward to." Miles agreed. It was true. Since Jeff's imprisonment, Miles had to live at the Den City Shelter. It wasn't all bad, as that was how he met Quinton, Yuhiro, Roxy, Tsubaki, and the others. He made friends, and thanks to Quinton, was able to move forward from the events that led to his dad's imprisonment and his mother's murder. "In the meanwhile, you should work at the Den City Shelter. Quinton would love to meet you, as well as the others. Especially the kids. They love visitors."

"I will definitely keep that in mind, so don't worry." Jeff promised. A guard pressed his watch, as if to indicate that Jeff's time was running out. "I have to go. Stay on your best behavior, son. I'll see you in three to five months time."

"I'll see you as well." Miles replied, standing up from his seat as Jeff did the same, the two of them walking away from the area.

"So how did it go, Miles?" Yuhiro asked him.

"My dad's being released in three to five months time!" Miles joyfully answered, much to Yuhiro and Arashi's joy.

"Now that's some awesome news!" Arashi commented. "It'd be good to meet him in person. I mean, didn't you meet him in the network, Yuhiro?"

"I did. Jeff's a good man. One of the honourable ones in this world." Yuhiro confirmed, the trio now leaving the Den Jail. "We need more people like that in this world."

"Well, we choose who we want to be, not the people we once were. That's what moving forward is about."

Miles, upon hearing this, laughed. "That's so part of a line Kratos said from God of War."

"No, it's not." Arashi pouted.

"Yes it was, dude. Stop trying to hide it." Miles responded cheekily, much to Yuhiro's amusement and Arashi's embarrassment.

In Yuhiro's mind, this was good, especially with everything that happened. For good deeds to be rewarded and for people reuniting with one another... that's what was needed right now. It, however, reminded Yuhiro of why he was fighting. It was so he can save Miyu and Jin, find the culprit who destroyed the Cyberse World, and defeat Bohman and Haru, along with the azure-overcoated man and Malf.

There was also another part Yuhiro was concerned about, especially with Arashi's ominous foreshadowing. Whatever happened next, Yuhiro was ready for it. After all, there were more battles to come. Battles that would be harder than the previous ones. And Yuhiro was certain of one thing: Until all of his goals were complete, the battle wasn't over yet.
