RWBY X YU-GI-OH
Chapter 3: Power vs Potential
In a small bandit camp in mistral, the sound of a child screaming with rage as she banged on a metal cage in defiance rippled through the area.
"Let me outta here you savages!" Weiss screamed as she gripped the steel bars of the cage she was trapped in. It was small crate, one usually used for animals, which made the 5-year-old heiress feel all the more offended by her predicament. It infuriated her even more than the chuckles and sneers by the low-life bandits amused by her imprisonment. She couldn't believe such vulgar peasants wearing rags could have overpowered her guards at the school recital and kidnapped her. It made their taunts all the more humiliating for the child.
"Give me a thousand lien then princess." One bandit snickered. Weiss's face reddened with rage as she gripped the cages bars at the indignity of it all. The bandits merely felt thrilled seeing her defiance.
"Yeah, just buy your freedom why don't you?" Another said sarcastically as he kicked her hand gripping the cage, making her recoil as she wince and rolled in the cage, blowing on her aching fingers. They were red and swollen, with boot indents, but thankfully weren't broken. Though the pain certainly felt as bad as if they were broken as Weiss was reduced to a sobbing mess.
While the bandits guarding her and a few bypasses laughed at her misery, one teenage bandit only didn't join in on the bullying, merely looking at the spoiled child they captured with contempt and annoyance at her wailing.
"God! How much longer must we put up with this brat!?" The teenager thought.
She soon walked over to a tent in the main square, it was one with a black bird insignia, the symbol of their tribe's leader. Hence, as soon as the girl entered she immediately bowed before the red-eyed woman with black hair before her in respect. Despite her own pride, the teen had no such thing in the presence of such an important and powerful figure. Even with the slightest slight, banishment to the wilds filled with fiendish duel monsters would be a mercy compared to what this woman could do in anger.
"What do you want Vernal?" The chieftess asked annoyed as she stood up from a carpet she was drinking tea on, gripping a red sword on her belt. Vernal gulped as she heard the dark tone, knowing if she didn't watch her own her throat would be sliced by that red blade beside the bandit leaders waist.
"I-I merely wished to know when we will be making contact with the Schnee's for ransom my chieftess." Vernal nervously stated. While she was irritated with the princess, she was not willing to show such an attitude to this woman who bore down on her menacingly, the pressure of her power and appearance suffocating to the teen bandit as she lowered her face to her eye level.
"When I say so brat." The red eyed woman sneered, asserting her dominance. Her venomous tone sending a chill down Vernal's spine as her lip quivered and she nodded in respect.
"Also, we're not selling her back to the Schnee's." The chieftess said, making Vernal's eyes widen in shock.
"W-Why no- I MEAN! Who are we selling to her then?" Vernal frantically asked, careful to catch her tongue before this woman might cut it out.
"I'd rather sell her to a slaver I trust…sort of, in Vacuo. He will pay less than a Schnee could afford, but it still be a much safer deal than dealing with the Atlas forces bribed by a noble family, wouldn't you say?" The woman asked. Vernal instantly doubled back and nodded in fearful compliance.
"Y-Yes my ch-chieftess!" Vernal stuttered. No sooner did the woman smirk at the child's cowering display did they hear an explosion outside. Instantly gripping their weapons tightly, the duo raced out the tent to find the main gate completely obliterated, caught in blue flames as a frightening beast bellowed at the entrance.
"IT'S A DRAGON! RUN!" One bandit hollered in fright as many joined him in running to the other end of the village nearby their tribe leaders tent, their only potential source of protection against the massive white dragon with blue eyes drooling as it eyed its enemies cowering before it. But the tribal leader paid the beast no heed, knowing there was a much bigger threat behind it.
"WINTER HELP!" Weiss cried out from her cage. Sure enough, the woman narrowed her eyes as a tall woman with blue eyes, wearing an atlas police uniform, strode into the village casually from between her dragon's legs as the beast bellowed before disappearing into her duel disk. She fixed the tribe of bandits with death glare, bloodlust radiating from her that made most of them freeze up, all except the tribal leader that it who casually walked up to meet her. Winter she could tell was more focused on keeping an eye on her little sister crying in her cage then the chieftess. She couldn't have that now could she.
"My, my it's been too long my old friend! Haven't seen you since our school days Winter." The red-eyed woman yelled with a joyful yet obviously sarcastic tone. The blue eyed woman merely lunged at her, drawing her blue bladed duel disk's sharp edge and aimed it at the chieftess's throat.
CLANG!
The woman instantly drew her red duel disk and latched its metal end to meet the enemies duel disk, halting the attack.
"LET. MY SISTER. GO RAVEN. NOW!" Winter roared slowly. Raven just snickered as she was enjoying the hell out of her old schoolmate's unusually aggressive demeanor. She used to be so poised and meticulous back in their dorm days, now she was basically throwing a tantrum.
"Or what? The fallen princess gonna chop off my head? Awwww." Raven teased before delivering a roundhouse kick to Winter's gut, sending her reeling back as she clenched her sides to catch her breath.
"You think you can come into MY village and tell ME what to do!?" Raven roared.
"I *huff* don't care about you or your damn village. One chance left Raven. Either give me back my sister or become food for my Blue-Eyes!" Winter coldly said as activated her duel disk, a blue aura flaring from her eyes as a silhouette of a light blue dragon appeared behind her. Raven just smirked amused to see this, not in the slightest intimidated.
"Got a lot of mouths to feed so can't do that ex-princess. You know how we settle things here though I see." Raven sneered as she activated her duel disk, a black dragon with red eyes like hers silhouette appeared behind her to the amazement of the tribe and Weiss.
"Wow! 2 dragons!? This is gonna be nuts!" Vernal said in awe. Raven couldn't help but laugh at that notion.
"What's so frickin funny!?" Winter shouted, obviously offended.
"The fact the brat thinks it will be a close game. You never once beat me in school remember?" Raven mockingly asked. Weiss's eyes widened as fear began consuming her at the declaration, her grip on her cage weakening.
"Winter? I-Is that true?" Weiss asked nervously. Winter grit her teeth at the question making Weiss wince a bit. While it was true, Winter didn't need to hear her sister crying or getting more scared in front of her, she was under enough pressure as it was. After all, she did come here on an unsanctioned rescue mission, impatient for her father to get the ransom money.
"Just keep quite Weiss while I focus on beating this hag and freeing you got it?" Winter coldly asked her sister who nervously nodded, knowing better than to disturb her elder sibling. Satisfied, Winter soon fixed her glare towards Raven, her arrogant smirking annoying her to no end.
"Now then, lets just get this started if your so certain you'll win then!" Winter demanded.
"If your in such a hurry to lose and join your sister in that cage be my guest." Raven snickered. Soon as their aura shined to 4000 each, they yelled in unison,
"LETS DUEL!"
"My turf so I'll go first!" Raven roared as she drew her first card.
"Hey! My sisters better you big meanie! You can't just decide that!" Weiss protested, but was silenced as Raven kicked her crate, nearly toppling it over to the girls fright at the brute strength. Winter gave Raven a bitter death glare at the sight.
"I'll allow it, but one more time and I swear, forget this duel I'll have my beasts go straight for your damn throat!" Winter yelled.
"Good to see the prestigious cop can get her hands dirty once in a while. I just set a monster and a card and end my turn then." Raven snickered. Winter narrowed her gaze as Raven did so, eyeing those face-downs.
"Hmm, I don't like this. It's not like Raven to play passively, she usually cuts right to the chase. What are you scheming?" Winter thought, trying to get a read on her opponent who just growled impatiently.
"Hurry up and make your move or forfeit Schnee!" Raven hollered. Winter just rolled her eyes and drew her card in response annoyed.
"Then for my first move I summon Kaiser Sea Horse in attack mode!" Winter yelled as she summoned the blue and purple crustacean beast with 1700 ATK as it grumbled. "Then I activate the magic card, White Dragon Ritual, now by sacrificing my Clone Dragon from my hand, I get to Ritual summon Paladin of White Dragon!" Winter yells as she summons a blue dragon ridden by a white knight with a white spear to the bandit tribes astonishment.
"2 monsters already?!" One said amazed.
"And I don't think that's the worst of it." Vernal said nervously.
"Your tribes smarter than they look Raven. Or at least smarter than you since Paladin's special ability lets it automatically destroy that face-down monster it battles without flipping it. So much for a flip effect, NOW ATTACK WITH IONIC SPEAR BURST!" Winter roared as her dragon knight unleashed a sonic wave of white energy from its spear, instantly shattering the set card to her tribes worry.
"That's left her completely defenseless!" Vernal yelled in shock, but Winter saw Raven hadn't even flinched.
"I hope that face-down isn't anything more than a bluff….oh well, time to find out." Winter thought. "I've been waiting years to do this Raven, ever since you ditched school to become a petty criminal, GO KAISER SEA HORSE ATTACK!" Winter yelled as her sea serpent lunged at Raven with an axe, but Winter sweat nervously as she saw a smirk on her rival.
"You've gotten sloppy Winter. You triggered my trap, Call of the Haunted! It brings back my Masked Dragon in Attack Mode to take the hit." Raven yells as she flips her face-down, summoning the red and white masked dragon as its head gets sliced off in Raven's place, reducing her Aura to 3700 to her tribes relief and Weiss's annoyance.
"You didn't really think I'd be chief if I made sloppy plays like that right?" Raven sneered annoying Winter. "Now speaking of sloppy plays, since you destroyed my dragon its special ability summons Red Eyes Black Chick to my field in attack mode, RISE!" Raven yells as a red egg appears, hatching a miniscule baby black dragon with red eyes.
"Well 2 can play the dragon game. I tribute Paladin to summon from my deck my families most powerful monster. THE BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON!" Winter yells as her paladin disappears into a ball of light, becoming the massive white dragon with blue eyes from before as it roars. (Blue eyes roar: watch?v=RL3e4pVEyDA)
"3000 ATK, always with the power you Schnee's and nothing else." Raven moaned unimpressed.
"Wrong as always bandit. I have a face-down, that's all for now." Winter said in a deadpanned tone as she ended.
"About time you wrapped it up. I play pot of greed, so I draw twice more. Greed is good, you Schnee's know a lot about that." Raven snickered.
"Your one to talk criminal." Winter fired back. Raven just rolled her eyes in annoyance before smirking at the sight of what she drew to Winter's concern. Raven always had a bad poker face when she had the edge, something she had burned on her aura and skin many times before in past duels.
"Now it's time to reunite you with this old friend of mine." Raven snickered as she held up a card. Winter's blood chilled as she braced herself for what was coming.
"Bring it." She coldy told Raven who nodded.
"Remember this move from the old days? I can sacrifice my weak and useless Chick to summon a real monster, the full grown RED EYES BLACK DRAGON!" Raven yelled.
(Red eyes summon: watch?v=cXIIcJqdQPQ)
Her black chick disappears in a red aura of light, becoming a large pitch-black dragon with eyes of red (and 2400 ATK) that screeches at Winter and her dragon, who bellows as it in response angrily. Despite the overwhelming presence and the windstorm blown in her face by the force of these two beasts roars, Winter kept her cool, giving a blank stare.
"I remember that dragon very well Raven, as well as the fact it was always weaker than my Blue eyes. Guess ditching school to be a worthless bandit hurt your math skills." Winter mocked Raven who glared daggers at her in response.
"My dragon's potential isn't in just powering through everything Schnee. Unlike you rich brats we have to do whatever it takes to survive out here, including being unpredictable." Raven said eerily, making Winter narrow her gaze in anticipation.
"I play the magic card, Inferno Fire Blast, plus I'll throw in Dragon's Gunfire. So now that I have red-eyes out, you take damage equal to its Attack Points and 800 from gunfire." Raven said with a smirk as 2 fireballs, one red and one purplish red, fire from the magic cards and hit Winter, dropping her aura to 800.
"3200 points of damage?! In one turn!?" Weiss yelled in shock while the bandits just snickered at her older sisters debacle. Winter staggered a bit as the burning sensation from the holograms were stinging her nerves something fierce.
"You always…did like it *huff* rough Raven." Winter groaned, making Raven smirk, proud of herself.
"Glad you remember. I'll place one card face-down and end by playing Super Rejuvenation. Now I get to pick up another card since I sacrificed my chick this turn. Like I said to you once, the weak should get eaten by the strong." Raven said as she drew a card.
"I've remember you saying that a hundred times. It doesn't mean it's true." Winter groaned. Raven just eyed her face-down in response.
"That's what you think Schnee. As soon as you blast my Red-Eyes, my trap Red Eyes Burn will have it strike back and end you, as well any chance of getting outta here with your bratty sister." Raven thought.
Winter then drew her next card wearily, still wobbling from the damage she took. She took a moment to glare at Raven's face-down.
"Does she really think antagonizing me is gonna make me drop my guard? I won't just walk right into a face-down." Winter thought as she eyed her draw.
"Do you remember my Kaiser Sea Horses special ability? It can count as 2 monsters when I sacrifice it to summon a light attribute monster, like my Blue Eyes!" Winter yells as she summons a second Blue Eyes to the tribes shock.
"She's got 2 dragons with 3000 Attack points now?!" Vernal yelled in shock.
"You stupid bandits are wrong as usual, it's not 2 its about to be 3." Winter snickered to their worry.
"I activate the magic card, Monster Reborn to revive my Paladin. You know what that means right Raven?" Winter mockingly asked as she tribute her revived dragon knight. Raven just grit her teeth in anger as she braced herself. "I'll take your silence as a yes! Since you only respect power, respect the power of 3 BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGONS!" Winter yelled as a third Blue Eyes appears.
(OST watch?v=-2jSoE7df8E)
"Don't like 3 dragons, that's fine, how about I play then Polymerization?" Winter asked, making Raven and her tribe recoil in fright. "This is for having the gall to kidnap my little sister. I fusion summon, the all powerful, BLUE EYES ULTIMATE DRAGON!" Winter yelled.
"NO! My combo will finish me then too!" Raven thought in fright as the 3 Dragon's merge to become one beast with 3 Blue Eyes heads with 4500 ATK. It's roar caused tremors to shake the tribe camp, staggering everyone but Winter.
"My Dragon's powerful, but It can't attack the turn it's summoned so I'll end there." Winter said to the tribes surprised, except their chieftess who glared at her menacingly.
"We're not in Atlas anymore Schnee. That rule that just restricts us doesn't apply here. Go all out already!" Raven demanded but Winter wasn't fazed.
"You duel your way cheater, but I'll do it my way." Winter said coldly.
"Fine, my move. I'll play the magic card Graceful Charity. Now I draw 3 then discard 2." Raven yelled as she picks up 3 cards and discards Troop Dragon and Tyrant Dragon cards. "Then since my dragon's useless too I'll ditch him like my chick, later." Raven coldly said as her Red Eyes disappears into a stream of fire.
"I summon, Red Eyes Darkness Dragon!" Raven roars as the flames of her deceased dragon shoot into the sky.
(Ra theme skip to 1:21) watch?v=GMTVC-mfw50)
Soon summoning from a thundercloud, a black dragon with reddish orange stripes, red diamonds on its body, and red eyes that roars.
"Not bad, I see you have a new ace. But it still pales in comparison to my Ultimate Dragon with only 2400 points." Winter mockingly said, but Raven fixed her a vicious smile, unnerving her a bit.
"Your forgetting 2 important words, special effect. Mines is that for each dragon in my graveyard, Darkness Dragon gets 300 points." Raven said confidently.
"300!?" Winter said in shock.
"Yes, and to help get as much firepower as possible, I play Dragon Heart. Now I can't play anymore dragons this turn, but I do get to send 3 more from my deck to the grave and increase my Darkness Dragon's power by 1000 points, plus since I ditched 3 dragons, it gets 900 more for a grand total of-" Raven sneers as she sends Hunter Dragon, Red-Eyes Wyvern, and Mirage dragon to the graveyard.
"5800! That's enough to beat sis's ultimate dragon and win!" Weiss cried and Raven nodded.
"Indeed, now go Red Eyes Darkness Dragon! Burn that lame lizard with Inferno Darkfire, END THIS!" Raven roared as her dragon unleashes a stream of black and orange fire from its mouth at Ultimate Dragon.
"Winter no!" Weiss cried, tears flowing down her face as she heard cheers of victory from the bandits.
"Don't cry and cheer just yet, I play a trap Negate Attack. It stops your dragon's move and ends the battle phase, which means you're the one with the lame lizard since Dragon Hearts power wears off after the attack." Winter says as Red Eyes atk drops to 4800.
"It still has more firepower then your beast. I'll end with this, and end you next turn." Raven snarled as she sets a card. Winter and Weiss sigh in relief as she does so.
"Okay, one more turn, one more chance to win." Winter thought as she eyed her deck and then her crying sister in her cage, fixing for once today to her surprise a small tender smile.
"Winter?" Weiss asked surprised, not use to such an action from her cold sister.
"Don't worry Weiss. I'm going to get us out of here, sisters promise." Winter said soothingly but glared murderously at Raven as she heard her scoff.
"Don't make promises you can't keep." Raven said with a snicker.
"I don't." Winter said bitterly as she slowly drew her next card. "Hope this isn't my final one, in more ways than one." She thought. As she eyed the card she drew, Winter fixed herself a smirk not unnoticed by Raven.
"Good draw Schnee?" Raven asked nervously.
"Not for you! I activate the magic card, MEGAMORPH doubling my dragon's Attack points!" Winter yells as her Blue Eyes doubles in size, stepping on and smashing a few tents as its ATK rises to 9000.
"9000!?" The tribe hollers in fright.
"More than enough to wipe you out. This is for mocking my family by stealing our most precious treasure. Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, blast her red eyes with Neutron Blast attack!" Winter yells as her dragon arcs its heads back, summoning 3 spheres of white lightning in its mouths that collide, sending a stream of blue and white lightning at Red Eyes.
"Damn it! I hate to do this, but if im going down, were BOTH going down, in flames!" Raven bitterly thought as she revealed her face-down.
"I activate Dark Spell Regeneration! This lets me remove a magic card from play to use it's effect again. So I'll send 3 dragons to my graveyard to play Dragon Heart, raising my red eyes attack points by 1900!" Raven yells as she sends Exploder Dragon, Red Eyes Black Dragon, and Attachment Dragon to the graveyard to raise her Dragon's ATK to 6700.
"That's useless! It can't save your Red Eyes and it can't save you!" Winter hollers as her dragon's attack hits. The blast sends shockwaves, knocking Weiss's cage over and sending the tribe bandits pressed to the wooden walls of the barricade set up around the camp.
"S-Such….power!" Vernal groans, the force of the impact making it hard to even open her mouth. Even Raven digged her boots heels into the dirt, barely able to keep herself standing as her aura painfully dropped to 1400, but still managed to sneak in a grin.
"Bad move Schnee! You just brought on your own destruction with that move, when you destroyed Red Eyes, you triggered my trap, Red Eyes Burn!" Raven yelled. Winter narrowed her eyes as she had her dragon unleash more firepower from its blast at the red eyes as it shrieked in pain, its body glowing red as it charged up energy.
"Doesn't matter how much of a tantrum you rich brats throw, my trap deals us both damage equal to my Red-Eyes's attack points!" Raven yells as the dragon explodes, finally knocking her back and away from Weiss's cage.
As the smoke cleared, Raven looked down at her duel disk, seeing both her and Winter's Aura were at zero, a big DRAW insignia on the screen making her groan.
"Gah! I can't believe I couldn't end her and win!" Raven groaned. She soon eyed her village in tatters, smoke sizzling from many ruined tents, her men, the ones still conscious, groaning in pain as they rubbed their aching shoulders, and worse the village walls crumbing as many wooden splints were crooked or snapped in half from their hinges.
"Oh well, we still have both the Schnee's for ransom to replace those things." Raven whispered as she glanced at Weiss's cage. Her heart sank however as she saw it's door opened, no sign of the child at all. Frantically jerking her head over to where Winter was, she narrowed her eyes on the smoke fog before her. Her blood boiled when the smoke cleared, revealing Winter was gone and the front gate was now opened.
"DAMNIT! She used the blast to free her sister and escape! How could I have been so freaking blind!?" Raven cursed in her head, her face flushed red from rage and embarresment.
"Mark my words, forget the lien, I'll have my tribe hunt all you Schnee's down to the last till you all pay for this insult!" Raven roared.
Winter heard her rivals cry in the distance as she held onto her little sister, still crying into her shoulder. She delivered a tender pat to her back, soothing somewhat the sniffling toddler.
"There, there Weiss. Big sis has you. They won't hurt you again." Winter said soothingly.
"P-Promise winter?" Weiss sniffled.
"I promise Weiss." Winter said fixing her a loving smile that melted her sisters heart.
"You do keep your promises after all." Weiss said lovingly as her sister carried her to the bullhead, ready to go home and let sleep take her over. She was certain she'd have nightmares about this day, but couldn't help but look forward to them, wanting nothing more than to keep seeing her sister and her awesome dragons once more.
