Chapter 27: Dinobot Island

(Third POV)
(A few moments earlier)
Optimus watched as the missile exploded, the force knocking Jacy and Kylie out of the sky. Worried, he immediately contacted the base. "Ratchet, I need you to meet me at Kylie's location! She and Jacy could be hurt!" Transforming into truck mode, he opened the door for Sumdac. "We have to go, Professor!"
Sumdac gave Powell one last glare before hopping into the firetruck. The two left the testing range in a hurry, leaving the others behind.
Powell looked at his guests as he gestured towards the smoke in the sky. "You see what I mean?!" he asked, "all the autobots do is cause more chaos. What hope do we have if we rely on them? It's time we humans look out for ourselves."
Thinking for a moment, the mayor leaned over and whispered into his secretary's ear. After he was done, the secretary looked at Powell. "The mayor agrees, and will allow you to carry out Project Headmaster."
"Total ownage!" Masterson cheered.
Powell grinned as he and the mayor shook on it. "You won't regret this, Mayor."
Meanwhile, Optimus raced down the road in the direction the girls fell.
"I hope they're alright," Sumdac said.
The Prime tried using his tracker to locate the blue bot's signature. "Come on, where are you two?"
"Prime!" Ratchet exclaimed through Optimus' commlink, "why the slag are Jacy and Kylie on Dinobot Island?!"
If Optimus was in his bot form, his optic's would have fearfully widened. "They're WHERE?!"
(Jacy's POV)
(Present time)
"Intruders! Dinobots destroy!"
Letting out a roar, the three dinobots transform into their bot modes and glare at us. I timidly watch as Grimlock pulls out his sword, fire rapidly covering the blade.
"He has a flaming sword?!" Kylie exclaims.
"That, and they can breathe fire," I say fearfully.
She looks at me in disbelief. "They're part dragon too?!"
I feel the ground shaking as they charge at us with their weapons ready.
"Wait, wait, wait!" I shout, making them stop right in front of us. I end up having to tilt my helm back in order to look Grimlock in the optic. Trying to push back my anxiety, I let out a weak chuckle as I limp back. "Uh, hi! I'm, uh, I'm Jacy, and this is my friend, Kylie."
"Hey, how's it going?" Kylie asks nervously.
I hear a growl escape from Grimlock as he speaks. "Me Grimlock no care who robots are. You intruders. We dinobots no like intruders."
My wings timidly droop down. "Look, this is a huge misunderstanding. We didn't mean to intrude."
"Yeah, what she said," Kylie says, "it's kind of a funny story. You see, what happened was we were at this testing range to deal with the Headmaster, and I accidentally set off a missile and we had to stop it before it could destroy the city. Well, when we did, it exploded and the force knocked us out of the sky and we ended up crash landing here, which was not fun at all. Anyway, we would have flown off the island but Jacy here damaged her thruster, so now we-"
"Tiny robot talk too much," Grimlock interrupts as he holds his helm, "making me Grimlock's head hurt. Tiny robot annoying."
Kylie frowns at him as she folds her arms. "Hey, there's no reason to be a jerk about it."
I look at my friend with wide optics. "Kylie, shush!"
Grimlock angrily frowns at her. "Who tiny robot calling jerk?" he asks. "Me Grimlock no jerk. Me Grimlock!"
His outburst makes me take a step back, making me trip and fall on my rump beside Kylie. I look up to see the large angry dinobot taking a step closer, the fire on his weapon blazing even more. "Whoa, whoa!" I say, hoping I can try and calm him down. "we're not here to start anything. Let's talk this out."
"Me Grimlock no talk," Grimlock says, holding up his sword, "me Grimlock DESTROY!"
Just as Grimlock is about to bring his sword down on us, I quickly make a forcefield around me and Kylie, shielding us in time as the blade strikes the field.
"What the-" Grimlock asks as he stares at my force field in confusion, "where bubble thingy come from?" Frowning, he continuously tried striking it again with his sword. "Me Grimlock no like bubble thingy!"
Grimlock continues trying to cut through the field while I try keeping it up. He then transforms back into his t-rex form and starts breathing fire on us, the other two following his lead. With the flames all around, I can feel the inside of the field starting to heat up like an oven. And what's worse is that I'm starting to lose my hold. Thinking of something, I look at Kylie. "Hold onto me." Soon as she does, I activate my good thruster and drop the field. The flames graze us as we shoot backwards and away from the dinobots. I end up knocking over a few trees along the way as I skid across the ground. Soon as we're in the clear, I turn off my thruster before we transform and drive off. It's not long until we see the dinobots chasing after us through our rear view mirrors.
"Why are they trying to kill us?!" Kylie exclaims.
"Just keep driving!" I shout back. We make our way through the trees until I see an area for us to hide in. "Quick, turn right!" We both make a hard right turn before transforming and taking cover behind a couple large rocks and trees. We dare not make a sound as we listen to the heavy footsteps getting closer. Thankfully, they run right past us and get further away from our hiding spot. Soon as they're gone, I let out a shaky vent.
"What the heck is their problem?!" Kylie exclaims, "what did we even do?!"
"We crash landed on their island, that's what we did," I answer, "oh yeah, and you called Grimlock a jerk. What is wrong with you?!"
"Well, he is!" she argues, "and we didn't mean to crash land here!"
"Yeah, they don't care," I say.
She lets out a vent. "They have autobot decals on them. Shouldn't they be not trying to kill us?"
"The dinobots are different," I tell her, "they're not bad, they're just... well, dinobots."
"Can't we just fight our way through this?" she asks.
"Absolutely not!" I argue, "that would be suicide! if we fight them, then they'll get even more angry. Plus, they are waaay too strong."
"So how the heck are we suppose to get away from them?"
"We have to get to the lake," I say, "the sooner we're off this island the better."
"I second that," she agrees.
We both peak to make sure the dinobots are no where in sight before stepping out. "OW!" I loudly yelp, forgetting about my injured pede. I then fearfully cover my mouth. Both Kylie and I go silent as we look around, praying that we didn't give away our location.
"... Maybe they didn't hear you," Kylie says.
"We hear."
"AAAH!" Kylie and I scream as the metal t-rex sticks his head out from behind the trees. How the heck did we not hear them coming?! Wasting no time, we transform and drive away with the three chasing after us again. We end up driving through a canyon as we put pedal to the metal. We gain a good distance between us and them... only to realize we're driving straight into a dead end. Scrap!
"Jacy!" Kylie exclaims.
"I know!" I respond. I frantically look around, seeing nothing but a rock wall around us. Just then I spot something. A doorway in the rock. Meltdown's lab!
"Head for the doorway!" I shout at Kylie.
"What doorway?!" she asks.
"The one in the rock wall!"
"Why is there a doorway in the rock-"
"JUST GO FOR IT!"
Seeing a big step coming up, we both transform and hop over it. I try my best to forget the pain as we both run for the doorway. Hearing a sound, we look over our shoulders to see Swoop swooping down towards us.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" we both scream as he gets closer. Seeing the doorway within reach, we both dive in through it before the pterodactyl could grab us. We don't stop running as we run through the corridor, my wings scraping against the walls as I run/limp. "Let's hide in there!" I say, pointing at an open door. We end up running into a large laboratory where we tiredly flop to the ground. I can't help but groan at the pain now feeling even worse.
"I can't run anymore," Kylie whines.
"Hey, I'm the one with the injured foot here," I remind her.
"Good point," she says before looking around. "Where are we anyway?"
"Meltdown's laboratory," I answer.
"Who?" she asks.
"He's one of the human villains."
"Why's he called Meltdown?"
"Because an accident in his lab turned him into a corrosive acidic mutant and gave him the ability to melt almost anything."
"... I'm sorry, what?" she asks.
"I'll explain later," I say, "right now we need to figure out how to get past the dinobots. Hopefully the bots figured out our location and are on their way."
"Why don't we just hide in here until they come?" Kylie asks, "we're safe in here, right?"
I go to speak until we hear a sound coming from outside the room, making us freeze as more sounds follow. Creature like sounds.
"The dinosaur bots?" Kylie asks fearfully.
I listen carefully, getting a very bad feeling. "I don't think it's them."
Stepping into the room, two large creatures reveal themselves. Two large mutant creatures! One a bat monster, the other a shark monster, both fused with different body parts.
My optics fearfully widen. Meltdown's fusion creatures! They're still here?!
A horrified Kylie scoots back. "What are those things?!"
I gulp. "I guess I should have mentioned Meltdown is obsessed with biotechnology and turned a couple of humans into fusion monsters."
"Now you tell me!" she exclaims.
The shark creature shoots out his tentacles and wraps them around Kylie and me, trapping our arms to our sides.
"Ew ew ew!" Kylie whines as we both try to free ourselves. With a great amount of strength, the shark lifts us up and throws us across the room. I let out a grunt as my back hits the wall before I fall on my front. Both Kylie and I painfully groaning, we look up to see the creatures making their way towards us, the shark snapping his crab-like claw while the bat bares his fangs.
"Now can we fight our way through this?" Kylie asks me as they stop in front of us.
"Yep," I answer. Both of us activating our mods, we each fire a blast. The mutants are caught off guard and go flying back, hitting the lab table and a stack of crates.
"Didn't see that coming, did ya?!" Kylie asks boastfully.
Looking at us angrily, they get back up as the shark monster tries to grab us again, only for us to jump out of the way in time. Kylie and I continue firing as they dodge us and attack.
I end up dealing with the shark while Kylie takes on the bat. I can't help but take notice of their size as I fight. In the episode with Prowl and Fanzone, these things were close to their sizes. But now they're bigger, kinda like when they fought Grimlock and Optimus. Do they grow or something? Is this another change of some kind? And why the heck were they left behind?
Oh for Pete's sake, Jacy, fight now, ask questions later!
I don't snap out of it quick enough and end up getting knocked back. Seeing the shark approaching fast, I roll out of the way before he can drive his claw into my head. He tries to strike me, but I manage to dodge and punch him back, causing him to stumble and fall back into a shelving unit, taking it to the ground with him. I hear Kylie's sound blasters going off as I look over to see her using them to keep the bat away. It works as the bat screeches and backs away from her. I go to help her, only for tentacles to wrap themselves around my ankle. "Uh oh." Falling to the ground, I shriek as I find myself being dragged across the floor before being dangled in the air upside down, face to face with the shark. I manage to grab hold of his claw in time before he can use it to snap my head off, but have a hard time trying to keep it away. Looking down... or up, at my pedes, I use my free leg and turn on my thruster, using it to burn the tentacles holding my other leg. The shark releases a loud painful sound and lets go of me. Once I am free, I sweep my leg under his and knock him over onto his back. Soon as he is down, I go to get back up.
"Heads up!"
I look just as Kylie comes flying and crashes right into me, knocking both of us to the ground. Kylie lets out a groan before looking at me. "I think I just ticked off Batman even more."
The bat creature lets out an angry shriek as he makes his way over to us along with the shark. Kylie and I get up and back away. Not wanting to go down without a fight, we activate our mods and prepare ourselves.
BOOM!
Clouds of dust and pieces of wall go flying as we shield ourselves. Soon as we look up, we see a large hole in the wall with the dinobots making their way inside the room. They look at us, but then bring their attention to the fusion creatures.
Grimlock lets out a growl. "Meldown's pets," he says as he pulls out his sword, "me Grimlock no like Meltdown and his pets!" The sword immediately lights on fire as he and the other two glare at them.
The creatures glare back at the three, the bat letting out a loud shrieking sound and the shark snapping his claw.
Both sides ready to fight... and we're caught in the middle!
"Dinobots, ATTACK!" Grimlock roars.
Kylie and I immediately jump out of the way as the battle begins. Looking at the large hole leading to outside, I look over at Kylie. "Let's get out of here," I say. The two of us press ourselves against the wall, trying to avoid the fight as we make our way towards the exit. Soon as we do, we race out of there and find ourselves back outside. Just then something hits the back of my legs, making me shriek and fall to the ground.
"Whoa!" Kylie says as she stops, both of us seeing the shark creature skidding across the ground on his front with dirt piling up on his head.
Hearing footsteps approaching from behind, I turn around to see Snarl charging towards us. "Ah!" I shriek as I grab Kylie and roll out of the way before we could get trampled by the triceratops. The bat soon flies out as Grimlock and Swoop chase after it. Swoop ends up helping Snarl with the shark while Grimlock tries to hit the bat with his flaming sword. The bat only flies out of the way and latches himself onto Grimlock from behind.
"Hey! Get off me Grimlock!" Grimlock exclaims angrily as he tries to get him off while flailing his weapon around.
Kylie and I shriek as we jump back before we could get sliced. We end up stuck along side the rock wall, now having no choice but to watch the battle.
Grimlock eventually grabs hold of the bat and yanks him off, throwing him to the ground. Looking up at the dinobot, the bat tries to flee as he jumps into the air to fly away... only for Grimlock to grab him by the leg.
"Me Grimlock no through with you yet!" Grimlock says before brutally slamming him back down.
Kylie and I can't help but cringe as Grimlock continues, reminding me of that scene from Avengers with Hulk and Loki.
"Now I get why you didn't want to fight them," Kylie says as she covers her optics.
"Told you," I say as I shield mine. I peak to see the other two having no problem either with the shark as Swoop, in his pterodactyl form, picks him up and drops him in front of Snarl. Using his large club, Snarl brings his weapon down on him, making the fusion mutant's eyes nearly bug out of his head. The dinobot then grabs hold of his tail and starts spinning him around before throwing him against the rock wall. Kylie and I both cringe as the shark slumps to the ground, looking like he's had enough.
Grimlock slams the bat down one last time before throwing him over next to his buddy. Battered and beaten, the two creatures fearfully look up to see the three dinobots approaching them. Transforming into his t rex mode, Grimlock lets out a roar and charges. The two fusion monsters immediately get out of the way in time, making the t-rex slam into the rock wall head first. The impact causes the wall to start cracking upwards, causing a bunch of large rocks to break off and fall towards Grimlock.
Not wanting him to be crushed, I rush over and make a force field around both of us just in time. I can feel the rocks falling on the field as I try holding it up, the weight only making it difficult for me. Soon after I hear the last rock fall, I let out a vent of relief.
Grimlock looks around at the field, seeing it keeping the rocks off of us. "Hmm, me Grimlock like bubble thingy."
I hear the sound of rocks getting tossed away before seeing daylight. Soon as Kylie and the other two dinobots dig us out, I drop the field, allowing Grimlock to reunite with his buds.
"You okay?" Kylie asks me.
"Yeah," I say. I look around, seeing no sign of the mutants. They must have ran off while the others were busy getting us out.
"Uh, Jacy?" Kylie says timidly as she looks behind me. Hearing the heavy footsteps approaching, I turn around to see the t-rex, triceratops, and pterodactyl standing there, making me feel very nervous as they look at us.
Pushing away my anxiety, I let out a vent as I look at Grimlock. "Look, we are really sorry for intruding. It was an accident, and we'll gladly leave."
"Yeah, we're really sorry," Kylie says, "no hard feelings?"
Grimlock looks at the others before looking back at us, making me feel even more nervous. Just then we hear the sound of vehicles approaching, making us turn around to see Optimus, Prowl, and Ratchet speeding over. Prowl is the first one here as he slows down and transforms.
"It's alright," Prowl says calmly to the dinobots, "they're our friends. You can trust them."
Grimlock looks at Prowl then back at us. Kylie and I don't say a word as we look back at him, wondering what he will do.
Finally after a moment, the dinobot leader says, "We dinobots no destroy car and truck robots."
I let out a big vent of relief, so happy we get to live another day.
"Really?!" Kylie asks happily, "thanks! By the way, sorry for calling you a jerk. You're actually not so bad. You're all pretty cool actually."
Grimlock frowns at her. "Tiny robot still annoying." He and the others then take off running, leaving the rest of us behind.
Kylie frowns as she watches them disappear from sight. "Gee, thanks," she grumbles.
Optimus and Ratchet walk over to us. "You two alright?" the prime asks.
"Yeah, we're okay," I tell him.
"You know, for two bots running around an island with three angry dinosaur bots chasing them," Kylie adds, "oh, and we were attacked by two fusion monster thingies."
Ratchet looks at her questionably. "Fusion monster thingies?"
"Meltdown's experiments," Prowl says, "I was wondering what happened to those two. We lost track of them after Meltdown and Rhodes were arrested."
"Well, they're staying clear away from Grimlock and the others right now," I say.
"I don't blame them," Kylie comments.
"Why didn't you two just fly back?" Ratchet asks me with a frown.
"I damaged my thruster when we crash landed," I say, showing him my injury, "so flying wasn't really an option. I can still drive though."
Ratchet scans my pede. "Looks like it hit a rock or something." He frowns at me again. "When the slag are you going to learn how to land properly?"
"Hey, I was knocked out of the sky, FYI!" I argue.
Kylie looks at Optimus. "Speaking of which, I'm really sorry about the missile."
"At least you both are okay and it was stopped in time," he says before frowning at her, "but you need to be more careful with what's around you."
"I will," she says, "promise."
Optimus' frown disappears as he lets out a vent. "Let's head back," he says.
All five of us transforming into our vehicle forms, we drive off. As we drive, I drive up beside Optimus. "What happened back at the testing range?" I ask.
"We didn't stick around long enough to find out," he says, "soon as you're patched up, we need to head back."
I let out a vent, already expecting the worse.
(Time skip)
Soon as my thruster is fixed, Optimus, Sumdac, and I go off to confront Powell and Masterson again, this time at the factory. Sure enough, we see them next to the Headmaster Unit while talking to Fanzone. Powell has the biggest grin on his face soon as he sees us. Optimus lets out Sumdac before we both transform and approach them.
"Ah, hello again!" Powell says happily before bringing his attention to me. "That was quite the act you and your little friend pulled. It really helped sell our idea to the mayor, who has fully agreed to allow us to go forth with Project Headmaster. So thank you."
"Yeah, thanks a lot, Noob!" Masterson says with a grin.
I can't help but frown at the two. "Listen, if you go after the decepticons with the Headmaster Unit, it will only make things worse. I've faced them, I know how dangerous they really are. You have to reconsider."
"We could," Powell says, not at all convinced by my words, "but we won't."
"You're making a mistake!" Optimus says with a frown, "the decepticons will-"
"The mayor has already agreed," Powell says, "Face it, Prime. You lost."
Optimus and I look at Fanzone, hoping he will side with us.
The captain only shakes his head. "Sorry, Prime, but he's right. It's time we take matters into our own hands."
Powell looks at Sumdac. "Think of it this way, Sumdac. This will be good for business. Think of the publicity we'll get?"
Sumdac angrily marches over to him. "Sumdac Systems is my company. And I want no part in this. Powell, you and Masterson are fired! Now take that war machine of yours, and get out!"
Masterson frowns at him. "Not cool, dude."
Powell frowns as well as he folds his arms. "I had a feeling it would come down to this." He then smirks. "but Project Headmaster will proceed regardless. And I doubt business will be good for you from here on out. Especially when word gets out that Sumdac Systems is against the safety of humanity."
"I said, get out!" Sumdac yells in his face.
Powell frowns again as he turns around and walks away. "Alright, Masterson," he says, "looks like we have to relocate."
Masterson glares at Sumdac before following after Powell. Fanzone goes to leave as well as he walks by us towards his car.
"Captain, please reconsider," Optimus pleads.
Fanzone stops and frowns at him. "And let you bots destroy the rest of the city? I don't think so." Getting in his car, he drives off, leaving us feeling defeated.
A sick feeling grows in my tank as I look at the Headmaster Unit with the grin on it's face. With the time line changing, I don't know what will happen. All I know... it won't be good.
