"Hi" Melissa smiled and stepped into the house. "He's halfway through making dinner so asked if I could do it" she said. Rachel's mask was in place instantly.
"You're a star, thank you. Could you just give him this? It'll only take thirty seconds" they swapped documents.
"Course" she smiled.
"How are you finding things?" Rachel asked.
"Just amazing. And I have you to thank, obviously" she squeezed her arm.
"As long as you're happy" she smiled, some irrepressible part of her genuinely meaning it. They should be happy, they all should. It was clean and easy. Natural and simple.
Her happiness could wait.
