POV Izuku
I was sitting in the window seel, the night was rather cold, spinner was cuddled up against my leg where it hung over the ledge a wing draped over him for some added warmth for him.
"Hey, Zu," Spinner spoke softly, I did not look over to him, focusing on the shipping yard being rained on. The yard seemed to be shut down for the night.
"Hmm?" I shifted my wing some focusing back on the fire in my chest. Trying to focus on spreading the warmth through my wings, on keeping Spinner warm in the cold.
"You remember that story you used to tell Unicorn," My heart ached at the reminder, it was one of the reasons I had left, far too many reminders.
"Course I do," I took a deep breath looking away from the window. Deciding that there was no point this night. "It was her favorite story." Spinner shifted, laying his chin on my thigh.
"Will you tell it," He gently pushed and I shook my head.
"That is her story."
"No, it's not," Dabi spoke from the door, both Spinner and I looked over to him as he shut the door shut behind him. He was soaked from the rain. "It's your story, you made it, so it is yours." He put a bag down on the counter before removing his trench coat. I sighed shaking my head in disbelief.
"Don't tell me, you want to hear it too," I chuckle for a lack of anything else to do. "I'd think it would be War who would be the one wanting to hear a fairy tail."
"Aw come on, it's a down pour," Dabi pulled a chair over to sit next to us. "Tell it. Set your mind at ease as much as ours." I sighed, but this time nodded my head.
"It was a land of magic, all had extraordinary talents." I watched as the two males settled down in their seats, I chose to toy with Spinner's short hair as I began to tell the story. "There was once a hunter,, he went out to the enchanted forest everyday to fight monsters, and mind the borders for his people. Keeping them safe in his own way. One day, he was bringing a friend, a knight to the local doctor as he had been hurt. The Hunter and the serving girl of the doctor had a spark, and with time that spark soon turned to love.
That love held, for many long winters and summers, and one spring morning, a child was born to them. This child was bright, and wanted to be like her father, a hunter, but she also wanted to be a knight as well. To protect and serve those of her home."
"But there was a problem," Spinner spoke softly, shifting a little under my wing, gently tugging on the feathers.
"Yeah, she had no magic." I looked back out the window. "And in a world filled with magic, she was no longer a prized child. A child who had learned at her mother's side, who was being taught be her father. She was scorned, first by the people who once smiled at her, and as time passed, the scorn reached her father's eyes."
"And daddy ran off for some milk," Dabi tutted pulling out a cigarette and lit it with his thumb.
"You want me to tell the story or not?" Dabi only waved me off as he took a few long drags from the cigarette in his fingers. "But yes, one day, the hunter packed a few bags more than normal, and never came back. The serving girl cried, many days and nights she cried. Before the Hunter left, she treated her daughter like a prized possession. The girl always eager to prove herself of worth. But that love and care became like poison with her husband gone. Her grasp of the girl tightened, sometimes hidden away, and other times glimpsing that once life. Until one day it all changed. A sorcerer came, seaking those with no magic. At first the Mother refused, after all, no one would treat her daughter the way she needed, but one day, the Mother finally said yes, and he took the little girl far away. To live with ones like her." This is were the story stopped for Unicorn, where the story was nice, and peaceful, ignoring the rest of the story that had yet to find it's end.
"Where she lives happily ever after," Dabi tacked on to the end of the story with a sarcastic draw. I lifted my wing off of Spinner for a moment to knock Dabi over.
