I do not own Trolls or these songs. I have looked at all the song requests in the comment section in Lone Concert and I will do what I can to not only add those songs but maybe even more. Hope y'all enjoy!
Branch was happy today. He just could not explain it. Things have just been good for him and that was not something he was used to saying. He was used to expecting the worst, but for the first time he was actually really hopeful. Things were going well with his family and with Poppy and things were actually improving with the Snack Pack who had apoligized for their behavoir when he was grey. To top off everything thanks to Poppy pointing it out his fur was a brighter blue. He couldn't believe it. He was going to meet Poppy to tell her about the family picnic that he was looking forward to and he was going to ask her to come. He even had an invitation for her. Even though he didn't need one he figured after all those years of her making them for him, inviting him to so many parties, that this would be a nice gesture.
When Branch had reached Poppy's pod he knocked on the front door and was met with King Peppy. "Good morning, Branch. Poppy should be out in a minute if you would like to wait in the living room." King Peppy said, letting Branch into his home. "Thank you King Peppy." Branch said, slightly bowing his head in respect for the formal king. "Please Branch my boy, you're family. Peppy is fine." Peppy said earnestly. "Thank you Peppy." Branch said, correcting himself. He sat on the sofa waiting; Branch could hear Poppy sing through her door and he smiled to himself. Unknown to him he was being watched by the royal couple. The former king and queen were watching the pure love this troll has for their daughter. Viva does not approach him, she has not really taken a chance to get to know this troll. All she knows about him is from her husband and daughter. She has felt hesitant about talking to this young man because of how she had tried him when they had first met. She is appoaled by her behavior towards him and even though he had forgiven her she hasn't forgiven herself. Peppy saw this and placed a hand on her shoulder and kissed her cheek. "Talk to him. He is an understanding troll. More so than most." He told his wife, but before she could have a chance to do so Poppy exited her room and rushed towards her troll lad and engulfed him in a hug that he had to catch. "Bye, Mom. Bye, Dad. Love you." Poppy shouted out as she led Branch out of the Pod and like that they were gone.
Branch was a little nervous about giving Poppy the invitation. It wasn't anything special like the ones she had made him but he did his best. Him and Poppy were walking and he had the invitation in his green leafy vest. Branch was about to reach into his vest to grab the invitation when Poppy yanked his arm trying to lead him to somewhere he wasn't quite sure. Branch ended up dropping the invite. He ended up stopping yelling for Poppy to wait and he went down on one knee to pick it up when she turned to see what he was doing. "Um, Branch?" Poppy asked, seeing him look like he was going to propose. Branch looked at her confused and then looked at how he was positioned. He could not help but laugh. "No, I'm sorry. Did you think I was going to. I just dropped something." Branch tried to say. Poppy however felt releaf and disappointment when she realzide that she just jumped to conclusions. "No, I was just wondering what was holding you up." She said as Branch stood back up. "What did you drop anyway?" She asked, trying to look around Branch's shoulder.
Branch slowly revealed the invitation he made and Poppy looked at him confused. "I um made this for you. It's not as great as the ones you made but it was my first time and." Poppy took the invite and her heart swelled. Branch made an invitation. For her. "I love it. It's perfect Branch, but why are you giving me an invitation?" Poppy asked, looking from Branch to the invite and back again. "Because I am inviting you to my family picnic tomorrow. If you want to go you don't have to but I just thought you might." Branch started to feel less confident about asking the queen of trolls to a simple BBQ. That was until she hopped into his arms, squealing. "Yes. I would LOVE to!!!!" Poppy then grabbed his arm again and started to lead them to their 'secret' spot.
Val was leading Carol, Barb, Riff, Floyd, and JD to this amazing new rehearsal spot that they could use. JD was tagging along just to spend time with his girlfriend. That still felt weird to hear. He also wanted to spend time with his brother and sister as well who were very supportive when he told them that he and Val were together. John plans to tell the rest of the family tomorrow at the picnic. When they reached the clearing Val was so excited. "See I told you it's perfect! The mushroom can be the stage and it's private and far enough away so we won't be disturbing anyone." Val explained, but Floyd, Barb, and JD looked around nervously. They thought that they recognized this place, but it looked different in the light. It truly was beautiful and they did agree that this would be a perfect spot to rehearse but they coud not do that to Branch.
"Val this was the place we were talking about. This is where we saw Branch singing to Poppy. This is his special spot." Barb said. "It really is a great spot but I think we owe it to him to respect the fact that this is where he goes to when he wants to be alone. We shouldn't invade that." Floyd continued. Val nodded understanding what they were saying. She didn't know that this was her son's favortie spot. Like mother like son she guesses. "Yeah of course. I didn't realize this was the area you guys were talking about. Little bit of a shame though I really liked this spot, but I would do anything for Branch, so I guess we just need to keep looking for a new rehearsal spot." But before any of them could leave they heard a noise coming from the bushes and giggling. They all hid before they could be seen. JD extended his hair like he saw Clay do the last time they were here and camouflage them with their surroundings and they waited for the cost to be clear before they made their escape.
They did not have to wait so long to see that it was Branch and Poppy. "Poppy what are you?" Branch started to say before Poppy cut him off with a kiss. She grabbed his face and with the biggest grin they had ever seen she kept kissing him over and over again as she led them to the mushroom. Branch could not help but smile back at her and return the kiss. The rock group is really really really wishing that they don't end up seeing anything they might wish they hadn't. Once they made it to the top of the mushroom Branch finally pulled away from Poppy. "Not that I don't love this but what are you doing?" He asked in a serious but love tone. "I know it makes you uncomfortable making out in public and I realized we were close to here so I thought I would kiss you away from prying eyes, but I couldn't help myself. Branch this was the sweetest thing anyone has done for me. Thank you." Poppy explained her actions.
Floyd quietly wiped away a tear at watching the two interact. Even though Branch wasn't technically his brother he would always be proud of the man that he had become. Branch then had an idea to make Poppy's day just a little bit better. He was so happy today that he just wanted to sing the moment he woke up but still feeling a little uneasy about doing it infront of everyone he refrained himself, but now that they were alone he figured why not. So the glow bugs took over and started to play the melody mch to Poppy's surprise and delight. The rock group then saw Branch start to sing joyfully with Poppy and dance with her and she gladly took part of it. The rock group saw how happy he was and could be more grateful towards the pink royal for being there for Branch when they weren't. They knew that they should not be watching him sing invading his privacy but they were stuck and they could either leave revealing themselves or stay and deal with the consequences later. They chose the latter and just listened. Val couldn't believe her ears she was going to get to hear her son sing.
If I wrote you a symphony
Just to say how much you mean to me
If I told you you were beautiful
Would you date me on the regular?
Well baby, I've been around the world
But I ain't seen myself another girl like you
See, what's the point in waiting anymore?
Branch finished singing the first part of the song and Poppy cut in singing the next part just for him. She loved that they would do this with one another. He sings his songs for her and she would sing special songs back just for him. These moments meant so much to both of them and that just made her glow a prighter pink during all of this. Branch loved watching her sing so he was glad to sit back and let her take over.
I could see us holding hands
Walking on the beach, our clothes in the sand
I could see us on the countryside
Sittin' on the grass layin' side by side
And made you sign up every word I wrote
Would that make you want to change your scene
And want to be the one on my team?
Branch could not hold back any more; he was just too happy to be with Poppy right now that he just had to join in. He has not felt like this since he was a kid and it felt so good. As far as he knew nothing could bring his mood down as he just sang and danced with the woman he loves.
My love, so don't give away
Ain't another troll that can take your spot
My love, love, my love, my love
They finished singing together and Poppy just jumped into his arms and he spun her around. When he finished spinning her they stood there for a moment before Poppy popped her head up and looked Branch in the eyes. "What should I bring for the picnic?" Poppy asked not wanting to come empty handed. She was a better guest than that. "Um. I don't know. I don't think you need to bring anything." Branch said unsure of how to answer. If he was being honest he still wasn't that knowledgeable about these types of events, but lucky for him he had Poppy to fill him in on his shortcomings. "Branch, a guest can't just show up to an event without bringing something. That's just rude. Come on, we need to go ask." Poppy said, grabbing Branch's arm dragging out of the 'secret' area. The last thing the rock group heard was. "But I'm not bringing anything." From Branch with Poppy responding with. "You are providing the location."
Val loved watching her son sing and dance and laugh. She missed so much she doesn't want to miss anymore. Val could not help but smile at the fact that Branch sounded a little but like his father. She looked at John when she thought this. The group waited a little bit longer after they could no longer hear them before coming out of their hiding spot giggling. "She has Branch whipped." Barb said, chuckling. "Give him a break he's in love." John said, defending his son. "Hey, let's get out of here before they come back." Val said, wrapping her arms around John's waist as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder. "That's still going to take some getting used to." Floyd said jokingly. John just shoved his brother with his free arm as they walked home all laughing and talking like there wasn't a problem in the world. And at that moment there wasn't.
But soon Val and John Dory would have to come clean about the lies they have told to Branch. That the family now knows. He is the only one left out of the loop to a secret that he is the one that needs to know most. John and Val, they saw just how happy he was today. They've seen how well he has been with the family. How much better he has been the last several days. They know they need to tell him but they wre also hesitant to. How can they selfishly withhold a secret from him that will change his life, but how could they also selfishly tell him up, rooting everything he's ever known and make the situation worse. That his father wasn't his father, his brothers and sisters arent' his siblings, that his oldest brother and family friend are actually his father and mother. That his brother did not abandon him but his father left him without a second thought. For all he knows.
Back at the bunker, the Timberlake family were planning the final bits that they would need for the picnic. They were all really excited because this is their first attempt at trying out their new way of 'normal'. When Poppy and Branch came back Poppy was more than willing to help out with the BBQ. "Poppy dear you don't have to do anything. You are our guest, we will just be happy to see you there." Delta said to the girl. "But I want to." Poppy said before feeling Branch's hand on her lower back to easy and steady her. "You know she's not going to stop." Branch argued in her defence. "Oh how about strawberry cupcakes. I know that they are Branch's favorite." Poppy said, making him blush a lot. Delta could not help but giggle at the two. "That sounds like a lovely idea, thank you Poppy."
"Of course." Poppy said with a smile. "Hey, let's go over to the sofa." Branch said in her ear before kissing her temple. They headed over to the living area sitting onthe sofa with Poppy placing her head on Branch's lap as he picked up the book they were ready the other day and he started to read to her where they had left off. Up top Clay, Spruce, Brandy, and Holly were setting up the tables and chairs for the next day when they saw Floyd, Riff, Carol, Barb, Val, and JD walking up to them. "Where have all of you been?" Spruce asked his best dads voice, which despite who you are worked. "Val was showing us a spot she found for rehearsal for their band but it just ended up benig Branch's spot that we stumbled on. We might have also got stuck hiding when he and Poppy showed up and heard them sing together." John explained.
"Realy I thought we agreed not to spy on him." Clay said a little angrily. "We didn't do it on purpose. We heard a noise and hid next thing we know those two love birds start singing. They are pretty good together." Barb said back defensively. "Ok just don't let it happen again. We need to be on as good terms as we can so when he finds out the now family secret of his parentage he won't absolutely hate us." Clay said, anxiously. He was really nervous about how all of this will go down when Branch finds out that Val and John are his parents and when he finds out that they now know and didn't tell him he could possibly hate them forever. He didn't want to lose Branch again. None of them did and until he learned the truth it was just a ticking time bomb waiting to explode whatever relationship they had already salvaged with him. The Timberlake family only knew that until then they would savor every moment they could and spend as much time with Branch as he would let them.
When they entered the bunker they saw Branch reading to Poppy as she dozed off in his lap. They looked happy and at home. They watched Branch hold the book in one hand and rubbing circles on Poppy's arm with the other. The lift gave them away as they headed down they saw Branch looking at them before going back to his book. Those two really did look domestic. "Hey, how was your day?" Floyd asked, seeing the sleeping Queen. "It was really good actually." Branch said with a smile, happy to see his brothers and sisters. They all sat around him as he asked them what they had done today. Clay, Spruce, and Holly told them that they had just been setting up for tomorrow. The rest of them looked at one another before Val answered. "I was just showing them a spot I thought we could use for rehearsals but I don't think it's gonna work out. So we had just been looking around for another play for us to practise." Branch seemed to think about it for a moment before adding to the topic. "I know a place near Meadow Creek. It has great acoustics and is far enough away to not disturb the entire kingdom." Branch suggested. "Wait, I think I know where you are talking about. Where Clay had his first date with Suki right?" John asked. "Yeah there." Branch confirmed. Clay turned his head to the rock group and nodded. "Yeah that place is great, it would totally work for what you guys need." They all smiled to one another happy that they may have finally found a practise spot. "Looks like he finally found our rehearsal space." Barb said happily.
Ok I hope y'all enjoyed another chapter. I have roughly 16 chapters if I plan it out right until I hope to finish this story for a second time. Thank you all so much for sticking with me ths long and I hope I don't disappoint. Until the next time, so bye bye for now.
