I do not own Trolls or these songs. I have looked at all the song requests in the comment section in Lone Concert and I will do what I can to not only add those songs but maybe even more. Hope y'all enjoy!
John Dory was a troll of many things. He was a lover. A singer. A son. A brothe. A father. An uncle. A songwriter. A leader. A caterbus driver. And in big trouble most of the time. But right now all Jonathan Dorrian Timberlake felt was pain in his nose and both of his eyes. When he went to touch his face he could feel the now broken and swollen nose. He could taste the blood that had run into his mouth and his eyes were still water from unshed tears. One thing was for sure. Or maybe two. One Branch could pack a punch. Two Branch is undoubtedly his son because he had gotten his temper and Val preferred wya to deal with things. Actions. Because that speaks louder than words and in John's case hurts worse. At some point during last night after the 'fight' someone was kind enough to bring him to his room and set him on his bed to sleep till he woke up this morning with an awful headache. John just hoped he would be able to fix things with Branch and Poppy today.
Branch had left after the fight and didn't come home the rest of the night; he just needed to be in a different room, and a different building than JD. He had walked to the Royal Pod but thought better of it Poppy had a rough day and did not need to know right away what he had just done. He was pretty sure she would find oout soon enough so he wasn't going to hide it from her. While on his walk he ran into Val. For some reason he was relaxed when he was with her, not like how he was with Poppy. He remembers her and John helping raise him to the point that they were almostlike second parents to him. He stopped himself for a moment and shook that thought out of his head. He had ended up talking to Val the rest of the night and it felt nice. He never knew his mom but he had hoped that she would have been as nice as Val was to him. Branch was much calmer and when he saw that the sun was rising he realized just how long they had been talking. He tried to apoligize to Val for keeping her up all night but she wouldn't hear it. She told him that if he needed anyone to talk to and Poppy wasn't around that she would be happy to help like old times. And then walked him back to the bunker.
Val could not be happier. Even though her son was grown up and independent, he still needed her and talked to her about his problems. Maybe there was hope. She was furious at John for what he had said to Poppy but at the same time she was selfishly grateful that it had caused this mother-son moment. When they were walking back to the bunker she was trying to find a way that they all could get together. There was silence for the first time that night. She had told Branch that she and John were together to see how he would react and, surprising to both of them He was happy for them. Said she was good for him and they always made a good team together. After they reached the bunker Val had formulated a plan for the day. John had told her what Poppy said to him and she was hoping to get the pink troll's help. She watched Branch head down into the bunker and as soon as he was out of view she rushed over to the Royal Pod to ask Poppy for her help and hopefully find a way to not only tell Branch the truth but to get everyone on better terms with one another.
When Val finally reached the Royal Pod and knocked on the door it was answered by a very confused Poppy. If she was being honest whe had not beenexpecting Branch's mother to be showing it at her door. "Oh hi Val. What are you doing here?" Poppy asked the woman who will probably end up being her future mother-in-law. She gave a small smile to the pink troll. "I had heard about what had happened yesterday and I was hoping that we could talk." Poppy let out a small nod before exiting the pod to follow Val on a walk. They walked for some time before Val finally decided to stop. Poppy rocked on the heels of her feet waiting in anticipation for the older troll to speak but there was an awkward silence. "So what did you want to talk to me about?" Poppy asked, finally breaking the silence.
"I am so sorry for what John had said to you yesterday. But please understand while this is no excuse but the topic of telling Branch of being his parents has always been hard for him. When he came back to the tree and thought he was dead and then found us and thought he was proven right when Branch wasn't with us. He stood strong for me. I was a wreck but John would barely let himself feel. Now that he has a second chance with Branch we don't want to do anything to ruin it. I just wanted you to understand where John was coming from with his anger if that makes sense?" Val explained. Poppy took I neverything she was told and felt awful for how she behaved yesterday. All she was thinking about was Branch, not how this piece of information affected anyone else. Val saw the look on the pink troll's face. "You were not wrong, we need to tell Branch now and part of the reason John lashed was because you are right and he is just jealous that you have this special bond with our boy." Poppy gave the girl a sad smile. "There's nothing to feel bad about. In fact I have an idea. How about we all do something together today. It will give you and John to sport things out and right before we finish up John and I will tell him the truth. With you there to pick up the pieces because I do not see things going well." Val said her plan in a way that reminded the troll queen of her boyfriend and she could not help but smile. "I think that is a nice idea." Poppy said, agreeing. "So what should we do? What does Branch like to do?" Val asked so eagerly that Poppy could not help but chuckle. She thought about it for a moment before replying. "How about mini golf? We have a little course that we can go on at night. Branch has promised me that we could go to it sometime and now is as good of a time as any." Poppy said. Val loved the idea of mini golf.
Back at the bunker Branch had headed straight towards his room without talking to anyone. Once he made it to his bed, his face planted right on it. Before Branch could take a nap he heard a knocking on his door causing his head to shoot up. "Who is it?" Branch asked tiredly. "Um, it's JD. Can I come in?" Branch heard through the door. "Go away JOHN." He yelled before putting his face back into the pillow. But much to his dismay John did not listen to the request and entered the younger troll's room and sat on the bed next to him. John knew he messed up and he didn't need everyone to tell him that. "Branch I need to tell you something and I know you are going to hate me for it. But I need to tell you. It's actually what that fight between me and Poppy was about. She found something out that you needed to know and I needed to be the one to tell you. She knew thatbut she didn't want to lie to you so she was insistent that I tell you right then and there, but I was a coward and couldn't do that. Instead I yelled at her and just wrecked any progress we had with one another. I'm sorry Branch." John said honestly. Branch looked up at him with a better understanding about what had happened the day before. Also talking with Val helped too. "I'm sorry for hitting you and possibly breaking your nose." Branch said to John.
The older one had not been expecting that. "I deserved it." JD said, causing Branch to chuckle. John felt like they were getting back to a good place. "Even so I still shouldn't have hit you." John smiled back at his son and pulled him into a side hug that Branch could escape from if he needed to which he didn't. Branch actually returned the hug. HIs feeling from this morning when he remembered feeling like Val and JD were like second parents to him would not shake away. "So what is it that you needed to tell me?" Branch said, trying to change the topic. "I actually need Val with me to tell you it involves her too and it wouldn't be far if I just told you. But I will tell you soon. I promise." John said, and for Branch he strangely felt good enough about that. "Ok but I am holding you to it." With that Branch went back to trying to take a nap and John could not help but go back to when he was little and he would tuck him into bed and promise to keep him from all harm. John's stomach twisted when he remembered that he failed that promise. He left his son's room after placing a kiss on his head and went to join the rest of his siblings. They all saw him emerge from Branch's room and waited with baited breath to see how things went. Since they didn't hear screaming and the fact that John is coming back alive they assumed that it went well, but before they could ask to confirm it the lift started to come down with Val and Poppy on it.
"Morning." Poppy said. Greeting the Timberlake siblings who were spending as much time in the bunker as possible even though they had their own pods. "Hey, John, can we talk?" Poppy said meekly. John just nodded and followed her to the other room but before he left he saw Val wink at him. "Hey um, so Val talked to me about what had happened yesterday. I'm sorry for coming off the way I did. It must have been so hard when you thought you had lost Branch to have found him again. Not wanting to lose him a second time. I'm sorry for not thinking about that." John was floored. Val told her that? The woman really did get him better than anyone else. "Poppyseed. It warms my heart to hear that, but you were right and I was wrong to have yelled at you the way I did. You are more than part of this family and you were thinking about Branch and that's what matters most. Please forgive me for lashing out at you. I promise to do everything I can to never let it happen to you or anyone else again." John said. All he got for an answer was Poppy engulfing him in a hug which he returned.
When the two returned they came to the sight of Val talking to Clay, Barb, Carol, Riff, and Floyd. "Hey love." John said before placing a kiss on her forehead before whispering a thank you in her ear. She just smiled into a kiss on the lips that she gave him. "So where is Branch?" Poppy asked, wondering where her boyfriend was. "When he came back this morning he headed straight to bed." Clay said. "Yes that was my fault I was taking a night stroll not being able to sleep and Branch and I ran into one another. We ended up talking all night." Val said. The siblings were relieved that Branch was not alone. John was silently thrilled for Val. He knew just how special it must have been for Val to have that time with Branch.
Poppy went straight to Branch's room to snuggle with him and to let him know about the plans tonight. While John sat next to Val. She looked at the bruise on his face. "Does it hurt?" He nodded. "Hey, you can use my room to get some sleep if you want." John said to Val who had just let out a yawn. "I might just do that, but first Poppy and I thought it might be a good idea to do mini golf with just the four of us. You, me, Poppy, and Branch. Afterwards we will tell Branch the truth. What do you think?" Val asked with pleading eyes. John gave a small smile while wrapping his arms around her giving her a supportive hug. "I think that is a great idea. I'm in." John told her. With that she kissed him on the cheek before heading to his room to finally get some rest. When John turned around he saw smirks on everyone's faces. John was always helping out being another adult in their lives and they knew how stressful it must have been, so it was nice to see him happy and relaxed. "So you're telling him tonight?" Barb asked, already knowing the answer. " John sighed, nodding at his sister. "After tonight everything is going to change. For the better or worse." John groaned. He was so worried how Branch would respond to being told that truth. "Well no matter what happens we will be here for all of you." Floyd said to reassure his oldest brother. John was greatful because honestly it did help.
Poppy and Branch slept till the afternoon. She wasn't tired when she first came to the bunker but something about this place just relaxes her like no other place. It feels like home. Poppy woke up in Branch's arms holding her and him looking at her with a warm smile. "Hey." Branch said, pulling her in tighter. She could not help but giggle. "Hey." It felt nice being here with him even with the knowledge that his family is right outside of the door. "Hey Poppy, I have a proposal for you." He said to her with a grin. Part of her hoped that it would be a proposal of the marriage kind but she also knew that he would want to do it in a more planned way. "How about we stay here and skip mini golf and just cuddle for the rest of the day." He said in her ear. As much as she would love to do that she also knew that they needed to get up and get ready. "As lovely as that sounds, Branchifer, we do need to get up." Giving him one last long kiss before getting out of the extremely comfy bed.
It was time for the four to head out to the mini golf course and to say it was going smoothly would be a slight lie. Yes, things with the situation with John had been slightly if not mostly worked out, but the wait of what today was going to mean for everyone took its toll. For the most part everyone just tried to relax and have fun. Poppy was the best out of all of them despite two of them having lived on a mini golf course for 20 or so years. As things went on everyone started to have more and more fun. All through the game Val and John could not help but give knowing looks at one another from seeing how Branch was with Poppy. It brought a small laugh to Val's lips drawing everyone's attension. "What's so funny?" Poppy asked curiously. "Nothing really but just seeing Branch with you it reminds me of how John would act with me when we had started dating as teenagers." John gave her a look before thinking about it before blushing wih embarrassment. Branch could not help but smile at the thought that he was similar to his brother.
They were reaching the final hole when Val had brought up this revelation but John also remembered something from their youth. "Speaking of how I used to act as a teenager, do you remember how I first asked you out?" John said with a heeky grin leaning on his putter. Val immediately knew what he was talking about. Branch and Poppy could not help but listen to the two reminisce about their shared past. "You sang to me." Val said, with a loving smile. "What? No way. Branch's singing is what first drew me to him too." Poppy admitted, causing Branch to blush. "Must run in the family." John said to himself smiling at the thought that somehow he and his son were similar even with all their time apart. "Well John, do you still remember the words?" Val asked. He thought about for a moment before he started to sing.
I just came to feel all that is made for me
I was made to be the change we really, really, need
I'm up before the rooster, ya dig?
I had to jump the moon to get big
How many stone grooves will it take?
For you to skip on my funk lake?
Imagine all the lives that we can save
You don't even know the power you got in them legs
Pick up your face and be proud for once
Go quit ya gig and get down with us
Branch and Poppy listened to John sing to Val who could not help but giggle. Branch felt happy about the whole situation. Seeing John happy, happy and in love with Val and vice versa, being able to spend time with the two like before. Don't get him wrong Ozzy was a great dad but Branch always felt like he could go to Val and John more with just about anything. He strangely still feels that way. Branch was soon snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Val sing the next bit.
Okay, now don't slack
I need all my racks
No, we don't hold back
Act like you know that
go tell your old man
Go get your whole fam'
Fly like the ghost man
I know you love me the way I am
Val finished singing and John could not help but pull her into a kiss before returning to the game to finish their final whole. After the end was done Val and John and Poppy knew what had to be done. Branch was going to find out within the next hour and some of them even though they were ready for it felt unbelievably nervous about it. "SO, Branch, do you remember when I told you that Val and I had something to tell you?" John tried to say casually but it came off as a little aggressive. "Um, you mean this morning?" Branch said, sarcastically. John froze for a moment, panicking a bit. Wrong thing to say John, you had many years to formulate how to tell your son the truth so man up and tell him already. (Wink!) Stop stalling! John thought to himself as he looked from his son to Val and back to Branch again before releasing the air from his lungs he had been holding and taking a huge deep breath. "Branch, Val and I are your biological parents." John said. The three waited for Branch to respond but he just stood there frozen while his brain short sercuited not grasping what he had just been told; then he finally said something. "Wait. What?"
Ok so this chapter was a lot harder to write then expected but I wanted to make sure that I got it just right for y'all cause if you do anything might as well do it well. So I will admit that my steam power is going down and I probably won't be pumping out chapters like I have been doing but I will still try to get at least 1-2 chapters posted each week. But I don't see an issue with this because I think we are reaching our end soon. So I think we have 14 chapters left. But I will be taking a small break after the next nine chapters that will be posted. I will be using that time to make sure that story has an ending worth telling and to find at least three more songs that will be perfect for this story. So that last chapter I will be posting before taking a small break before finishing with the last five or so chapters will be SEXY BACK and that is the song I am holding off for the proposal chapter. Since that song is definitely not G rated and this will probably be the only chapter that is close to being PG13 or up. So yeah. I hope y'all have enjoyed yet another chapter and until the next time. Bye-bye for now.
