Hope y'all enjoy!
Today was the anniversary of the day Rosiepuff Timberlake died and Branch was having a harder time than usual dealing with this day. It was the first time he had dealt with this day since his entire family had been back and he didn't know how to tell them that today was going to be hard. He has not even told Poppy yet, the last anniversary he and Poppy had just split up and he spent the day alone in his bunker like he usually did. He didn't know what to do. At the moment he was having a very slow morning and missing the days when he had no one. No one to care about him or noticed that he was off for the day. But that wasn't the case anymore. Tomorrow would mark the 21st Anniversary for when the trolls escaped the troll tree and everyone was aware of that, but the hype for it has not been as big a deal since they had made peace with the Bergans and they were getting ready to celebrate that in a few days. Peppy was the only one to really remember Rosiepuff's death.
He could hear Poppy and the kids finishing up having breakfast and she was going to take the twins to the youth center they had built so the kids can play safely when their parents might be busy for the day. She was taking them there for the day with the rest of their friends, before she headed off with the Snack Pack to prepare for the celebration. His family probably had plans today and he didn't want to bother them with a depressing day. Honestly with everything with the kids he almost forgot that the day was coming up. He promised himself that he would tell them before the day came but he didn't get the chance. He heard Poppy leave with the kids and he was now left alone with his thoughts and grief. He was sitting on his bed with his head in his hands. Crying missing the woman who didn't choose to leave him. Yes, he forgave his family for not being there, but that pain will always be there. He knows that, but he also knews that he won't ever let it consume him again.
Outside the Timberlake Family were alltalking about what they would do for the day Brandy had offered to take all the kids to the new youth center to play with their friends. John was talkto Clay about the upcoming wedding, but he said that they were in no rush. That they were living together for now and they would plan a date when they felt that it was the right time. Floyd had his arm around his husband's waist wondering where Branch was. They soon heard the lift coming up, but they only saw Poppy, Gary, and Rosie. "Hey where's Branch?" Floyd asked his sister-in-law. "He's still down in the bunker. Is Suki ready? I'm picking her up before we grab CJ and drop these three off at the youth center and then we will head off to get the Bergan Celebration ready." Poppy said right before Suki snuck up behind her and jumped on her shoulders. "Hey, I'm ready." Holly was right behind her. "Hey y'all. I'm heading off to work." They all waved goodbye to Holly who recently got a job at Milton's Vet Clinic and was loving every moment working with little critters. Poppy and Suki headed off to start their day as well but before Poppy left she said something to John. "Hey, can you check on Branch? He seemed a little off this morning and I'm a little worried about him." She said concerned. She wanted to stay home with him, but she had to get going. She hated doing that to Branch when he clearly needed her, but it eased her mind when she knew that he has family to pick up the pieces she could not carry.
"Of course, Poppyseed. You don't even need to ask. Now you should get those little ones to the youth center. They seem really excited. Hey does Papa John not get a hug get over here." They all heard a little giggle and tiny footsteps come rushing over to John and he grabbed both of his grandbabies and picked them up in a big hug. He soon let them go so their mom could take them to go play with their friends. John's smile soon turned into a frown at the thought of his son being in trouble. Riff saw this and knew that the Timberlake siblings needed to take this one. They just had a strange way of fixing things while also annoying the life out of you. It's the best. "Hey. Carol and I are gonna help set up the new music center." Riff wasn't lying he and Carol did plan to go help out set up the center to help teach trolls how to play instruments like they taught Gary. They also thought it would be a good place for Gary to go when things got a little tuff with the bullies who didn't learn their lesson from Rosie the first time.
Riff took off with Carol leaving John with Val , Spruce, Clay, Floyd, and Barb. They all followed John down to the bunker where they heard crying coming from Branch's room. Branch didn't hear the lift coming down so his family walked on him teary eyed. "Branch, what's wrong?" Val immediately rushed to her son. "Mom, I'm fine." Branch tried to say, but he could not get the words out correctly. They mostly got caught in his throat. He tried to wipe his tears away and get up and out of the room from prying eyes. This helped little because everyone was now worried about Branch and were following him until they got answers. "Branch, come on. Let us help you please. Poppy seemed worried and so am I." John begged his son. Branch was frustrated he wanted to tell his family, but he also wanted to honor his grandmother in peace and on his own like he has done the past twenty years. Sadly his old habits won out at the end and Branch went towards the lift. His family tried to block him but he managed to slip past them; they followed after him and tried to stay on his tail for as long as they could till they got the answers they needed.
Poppy knew that being queen was hard and on those days Branch was able to help make things easier. She missed her little ones while she was stuck working. She hoped that he was doing ok with his family and they could help him with whatever was bothering him when she couldn't be there. Poppy had to get to her duties and she would often think about the twins when she was stuck doing paperwork or other tasks she did not like very much. How they made the perfect duo. Rosie's singing and Gary's guitar playing. Rosie was incredibly protective over Gary. When they first started interacting with other trollings other than thier cousins and Aunts; Gary would often get teased because he was mute. Rosie also had her father's temper. She would often get into trouble for starting fights when Gary was getting bullied. Of course Branch was proud of their daughter, but Poppy knew that she couldn't show that; fighting did not solve problems they often tended to make things worse.
As time went on Rosie did stop fighting and Gary did end up making friends like Pixie the daughter of Smidge and Milton who was just a little younger than them. Gary also tended to blush everytime Pixie's name was mentioned. Poppy was extremely excited that her son had a crush and would aften hear him playing love riffs on his guitar in his room when he thought that he was alone. Of course Branch had talked her into not mentioning it or asking him questions about it because the last thing that they wanted was for them to embarrasse him. She smiled as she dropped off her kids and saw Pixie run up to Rosie and Gary and she could not help but laugh as she thought about how far her life has come.
Pixie was also Rosie's best friend and hadn't noticed that her friend was also crushing on her brother. Pixie liked that Gary was different and her favorite music was when she got to hear him play his guitar. Pixie grabbed Gary's hand and led him outside with his guitar. She wanted to hear him play without the teasing. They found a spot behind some bushes where they could be alone. Unfortunately they were being followed by BJ, Tiny D, and Rosie who were then spotted by Branch who also had most of his family trailing behind him still trying to get answers out of him. So safe to say this lone concert was no longer alone anymore. When they realized they all were intruding on a private moment they all hid behind the bushes so not to be spotted.
Gary was nervous he has had a crush on Pixie for as long as he could remember. She never judged him for not singing or being able to speak. He wanted more than anything to be able to tell her or at least let her know how much he cares about her. Gary started to play a melody on his guitar to express everything he wished he could say. Pixie was taken back by his song and believed that Gary is very talented with playing instruments to songs and he learned to play music as a way to communicate. It truly was his voice. So she wanted to share her voice by singing along to his playing. She knew that Gary was opening up to her in the only way he knew how and she wanted to do the same.
"Oh, don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me."
I said, "You're holding back."
Then said, "Shut up and dance with me!"
This moment is my destiny
I said, "Ooh-ooh-hoo
Shut up and dance with me."
We were victims of the night
The chemical, physical, kryptonite
Helpless to the bass and the fading light
Oh, we were bound to get together
Bound to get together
I took your arm
I don't know how it happened
We took the floor and I said
Gary was at first taken back by this but he did not falter; he kept playing his guitar. The two were just lost in their own little world singing and playing their song for one another to hear. Pixie then did something that surprised Gary, she had gotten up and started dancing to the music they were making and Gary continued to play his guitar and watch her enjoy the music; he started to loosen up and enjoy it too.
"Oh, don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me."
I said, "You're holding back."
Then said, "Shut up and dance with me!"
This moment is my destiny
I said, "Ooh-ooh-hoo
Shut up and dance with me."
A backless dress and some beat-up sneaks
My discothèque Romeo, teenage dream
I felt it in my chest as he looked at me
I knew we were bound to be together
Bound to be together
I took his arm
I don't know how it happened
We took the floor and I said
Rosie had no idea that her best friend liked her brother, but when she found out she was really happy for them. There was also an uneasy feeling in her stomach; a sense of jealousy. They sounded really good together and she was feeling like maybe her brother might not need her anymore now that he would play songs for Pixie. Usually he would only play like this for her to sing to. Rosie knew she needed to be happy for them, but where did that leave her?
"Oh, don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me."
I said, "You're holding back."
Then said, "Shut up and dance with me!"
This moment is my destiny
I said, "Ooh-ooh-hoo
Shut up and dance with me."
Oh, come on boy
Deep in her eyes
I think I see the future
I realize this is my last chance
I took his arm
I don't know how it happened
We took the floor and I said
Branch saw his son and he could not help but think about the first time he invited Poppy to their not so secret spot and sang her Flannel. He could not help but smile. Branch then thought back to when Val said that John would sing to her as well. Guess it ran in the family. John was looking at his son filled with pride and he saw that for the first time that day Branch looked like he was going to be ok.
"Oh, don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me."
I said, "You're holding back."
Then said, "Shut up and dance with me!"
This moment is my destiny
I said, "Ooh-ooh-hoo
Shut up and dance."
"Oh, don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me."
I said, "You're holding back."
Then said, "Shut up and dance with me!"
This moment is my destiny
I said, "Ooh-ooh-hoo
Shut up and dance with me.
Pixie got bold and kissed Gary on the cheek causing Gary to blush and put his head down with a big grin on his face that he could not help. Pixie giggled before getting up. "I have to go home, but I loved the song. See ya later Gary. Bye." Pixie said, giving a small wave before rushing off to her dad's vet clinic. Gary was happy that Pixie liked him back but it was short lived when he heard giggles coming from the bushes. He got up and saw that his sister, Tiny D, and BJ were watching him. Rosie gave a weak wave and a "I'm Busted" smile. "Hi." She said avoiding her brother's eye content. When BJ saw his cousin's face it was that of someone who was not amused. Tiny however tried to make things less awkward, but failed. "I liked your guitar." Gary just ushered them back to the youth center so they could be picked up by their Aunt Brandy when she came for BJ.
Branch knew his Gramma would be proud of her great grandchildren and that she wouldn't want him to keep this to himself anymore, so he looked at his brothers and sister and gave them a small side smile. "Today's the day Gramma died." He said, turning his head not being able to see the faces of his family giving him looks of pity. They were all stund by the confession, they all missed Gramma Rosiepuff dearly, but Branch was the one to witness her death, so no wonder why today was so hard for him. John did not hesitate; he wrapped his son up in a hug and did not let him go even when he struggled. Branch soon subsided and broke down sobbing, letting all of his grief wash over him, but this time it felt different. Soon all of his siblings joined in on the hug including his mom. For the first time reliving Rosiepuff's death he felt like things were going to be ok and for the first time he felt like things were going to be fine. "Come on, we need to pick up the kids and head home, but we will do something with the rest of the family tomorrow. Ok?" Branch said, wiping his tears away. Everyone gave silent nods as they went towards the direction of the youth center. Branch then quickly grabbed his father's hand and pulled him into a hug whispering. "Thank you. For everything." John didn't question it; he just hugged his son's back before running to catch up with everyone else.
Poppy was so happy to be done for the day. Do not get her wrong she loved being queen and she loved planning parties, but right now she just wanted to be there for Branch. First she needed to stop at her parent's pod then head home to the bunker. When she got there Poppy knocked on the door but there was no answer. She knocked again before using her key to let herself in. "Mom. Dad. I'm here. No one answered the door so I let myself in." Poppy yelled out. Viva came out and hugged her daughter. Poppy noticed she was a little somber. "Mom, what's going on? Where's Dad?" She was getting concerned. Viva inhaled steadying herself. "Your Dad is ok, but today he was just mourning over Rosiepuff so it's been a hard day for him. How is Branch holding up? Your father told me what happened to him." Poppy was confused at first but then everything clicked. "How could I forget?" Poppy was panicking, she should have stayed home with Branch today. She knew something was up. Why didn't he say anything? "Honey. You have been dealing with a lot with being Queen and the twins and the Bergan Celebration and yes Branch is important, but you are just one troll. Give yourself a little slack. Ok?" Viva told her daughter who just nodded numbly back. "Go to Branch I'll tell your dad that you stopped by and said hi." Viva said, kissing her on the cheek. Poppy then rushed out of the pod and headed home.
Poppy finally got home after a very long day at work from trying to get everything ready for the Bergan celebration. She was greeted with a tune being played by her three favorite people. Branch was playing guitar with Gary and singing with Rosie to some he had written for them the day they were born. When Branch first played the song from her and the family they loved it. It was a beautiful song and she loved that Branch was teaching it to her children and they were singing together.
Let the music set you free
Let the music set you free
All it takes is just a little you and me
Let's come together
Together as one
Poppy heard Branch sing and Rosie follow. Her heart swelled at hearing them harmonize. She always knew it deep down in her heart that Branch would be an amazing father and he is. He was always protective of his family. He also made sure that their children were able to defend themselves and survive if something were to happen. Which was also how Rosie was so good at fighting.
Why not take the chance to she em how it's done
People wanna know how we got those moves
People wanna bottle it up-up-up-up-up
Poppy heard her beautiful daughter's singing and she let out a sigh when she heard the graceful sound of the guitar starting to join in. She smiled when she heard Gary play and she knew it was Gary because after years of hearing him play guitar to talk to her she has gotten really good and knows his guitar and playing style. Branch when he played the guitar it was like he was playing a part of his soul for all to hear. It was unique and truly him. He had managed to pass that gift onto their son. When Gary was first diagnosed as a mute it was difficult for him because he couldn't tell anyone what he wanted to. Branch had managed to keep his first guitar and pulled it out of storage and started to teach Gary how to play. It was like a whole new world openned up to him. Poppy had never seen him so happy and responsive. He was connumicating through music like every other troll but it was his own voice. It didn't matter if it wasn't the same as every other troll it was his. It was something he and his father shared and that made it special. Now Barb would join in their jam sessions teaching little Gary some good old rock and he loved to play with his Aunts who never judged him for not being able to speak. First thing Gary remembered his Aunt Barb telling him was that it didn't matter if didn't or couldn't speak. And when he started to speak with the guitar she told him that it was very rock and roll. She was the most supportive of him besides his parents.
But no can do
People wanna know how we got that groove
It's always been me and you
Ooh,
It runs in the family (Hee-hee-hee-hee)
Yeah, ooh,
Poppy decided to stop listening and join in the last bit of the song with her children and husband. Who just looked up at her with a smile. Rosie rushed to her mama and Poppy picked her up with ease. She kept walking over to the rest of their family. To sing the rest of the song.
It runs in the family
It's all about you and (ooh)
It's all about you and (ooh)
And me (you are my family, nowhere I'd rather be)
It starts with you and me
Poppy gave her two children a kiss on the head before sending them off to bed being led by Glitz. She then gave a loving and very passionate kiss to her husband. Who just held her there drowning in the thoughts of how he was so lucky to be able to have just about everything he lost and more. How he gets to exsist at the same time as his beautiful sunshine of a wife. He couldn't ever be happier because he has gotten everything he has not only wanted but more. Poppy then looked up at Branch. "How are you feeling?" Branch let out a sigh. "I'm doing better. How was the set up?" Branch said, trying to change the subject. Poppy knew this. "It was fine, but this isn't about that. I know what today is and I wish you had said something this morning. I have an excuse for not remembering I have baby brain, but if you would have told me I would have dropped everything in a heartbeat." Poppy said, feeling Branch pull her in closer. "I know, but I don't know. I've never spent the day with anyone to mourn her before and it just felt like too much. That was until I saw our two amazing kids and remembered how far we've come and I'm not alone anymore." Poppy was taken back by that statement. She was happy he was doing better, but Poppy was still sad that he had to go through that alone.
Branch saw the look on her face, grimicing before he kissed her temple. "How did I get so lucky to be here with you?" Branch asked the love of his life. She turned to him and thought about it for a second and then remembered the very first time she realized she was in love with him and it was before she even realized it. "You sang Cry Me A River on your mushroom in the rain and I just heard your voice and knew that I just needed to know who that voice belonged to. When I saw it was you I couldn't get you out of my head. Then I just had to know more about the grey troll of the village." Poppy said before kissing Branch and curling up with him on the sofa like they had done so many years ago. "You showed me that there are so many sides that make something beautiful." Branch just smiled down at her and noticed the change in her breathing. She had fallin asleep, so Branch just closed his eyes and joined her in their peaceful slumber.
THE END!
Well my Bookworms we have reached our end and we are in for more amazing stories. This has definitely been a passion project but I hope y'all read my other stuff and stay tuned for updates. This has been so much fun.
NEWS:
I will be updating my Danny Phantom Fanfic but not as regularly.
My Jimmy Neutron Fanfic is on hiatus for now but the next chapter will be the next thing updated.
I will do a small Ladybug and Chat Noir story that I feel like should have happened before the end of season 5 or well what the vibe of season 5 should have been.
I will also be writing short stories of Miss Periguine's Home for Percilular Children & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. What fun. Those will be posted whenever no exact plan for now, but be on the lookout for those. Just in case I have not made myself clear I am a profemale lead role. I like to do gender bent
I will be starting an Encanto crossover with How to Train A Dragon fanfic and I know it "Train Your" not "Train A" but you will have to read the fanfiction to figure out why I changed the word. This is something that was inspired by a fanfiction called "The Butterfly Dragon". I think it has been a while since I've read it but I have been coming up with a fanction of my own since reading it.
Fanfictions that I plan on writing once I finish the Crossover and Danny Phantom:
Ducktales
Avatar The Last Airbender
Helluva Boss
Fear Street
Kung Fu Panda
Lots of great stories to come.
Ok now that you are caught up with the news of what's to come. I just want to thank everyone who has stuck with me and supported my writing. I hope y'all have enjoyed this final chapter. This isn't goodbye forever but for now until the next time, bye-bye for now.
