Rogue walk down the stairs of the mansion , towards her room after the danger room. Her and the rest of the team have been super on edge the past two days and she hasn't really been talking to them.
Wolverine watched her leave, a mix of sympathy and worry etched on his face. "She's taking this hard," he muttered.
Cyclops nodded in agreement. "It's a difficult situation. We can't ignore the fact that Gambit is still a member of the Acolytes."
Back in her room, Rogue flung herself on her bed, tears streaming down her face.
She couldn't believe how her world had turned upside down in just a few days. The tension between her and the X-Men had reached new heights, but she couldn't deny her feelings for Gambit, even if it meant going against the team that had become her family. She couldn't stop thinking about the words he had whispered in her ear during the battle with the Acolytes, and she knew she had to see him again, regardless of the consequences.
Downstairs, the rest of the X-Men sat in the living room, discussing their options.
Wolverine, as usual, was the first to voice his thoughts. "We can't just let her run off like this, not after what's happened," he growled, his claws extending involuntarily at the mere mention of Rogue's name.
Cyclops, ever the leader, nodded. "We need to bring her back into the fold, and quickly. This division between us is only going to make things worse for everyone."
Storm, who had been quiet up until now, took a deep breath before speaking.
"We need to be tactful in how we approach this issue. Rogue is one of our own, and we cannot risk alienating her further. We need to bring her back into the fold, and quickly, before things escalate any further."
Jean Grey nodded in agreement. "Storm's right. I think we need to reach out to her and offer our support. Maybe if she knows we're here for her, she'll be more willing to open up and talk about what's going on with her and Gambit."
Wolverine scoffed.
"Support? We need to do more than just support her. We need to bring her back to our side before she gets herself and all of us in deep trouble with them." He ran his fingers through his hair, claws slicing through the strands.
"Easy there, Wolvie," Cyclops said. "We understand your concern, but it's important to be sensitive to Rogue's feelings. We can't force her to choose between her loyalty to the X-Men and her love for Gambit."
Wolverine grunted.
"Sensitive ain't gonna cut it. We need to take action, and fast. Rogue's in danger, whether she realizes it or not."
"We can't just abandon her, either," Jean interjected. "We need to find a way to help her through this, without forcing her to choose. There has to be a compromise we can make."
Professor Xavier nodded in agreement. "Jean is right. We can't force Rogue to choose between us and Gambit.
We need to be patient and understanding," Professor Xavier said firmly. "We need to give her some space and let her come to us when she's ready. In the meantime, we should keep a closer eye on Gambit.
"I have a feeling that Rogue might try to meet up with him again," Cyclops said seriously, staring off into the distance.
Professor Xavier nodded in agreement, his expression grave. "Yes, I have a feeling that there is more going on than we know. We need to make sure that both Rogue and Gambit are safe, while also protecting the X-Men from any potential threats."
His phone rang , jolting the group from their deep discussion.
Professor Xavier excused himself to answer it, leaving the rest of the team in murmured contemplation.
He returned moments later, a grave look on his face.
"That was Agent Morse from the Department of Mutant Affairs. It seems that Acolytes has led another attack on a government facility, this time a telecommunications hub. We need to go now" Xavier announced heavily.
Cyclops nodded. "Understood. Let's get moving." He looked at the team. "Do we bring Rogue.".
Everyone looked at each other, unsure of how to proceed.
"I'm not sure? After what happened earlier, I think it's best if we let her cool off," Storm suggested, her eyes reflecting concern.
"We can't just leave her out of this. We need all hands on deck for this mission. Besides, she's a valuable member of the team. We can't afford to leave her behind," Professor countered, his gaze steady.
"But what about her relationship with Gambit?"
"That could put her in an awkward position, not to mention the rest of us," Nightcrawler chimed in, wringing his blue-furred hands.
Professor Xavier nodded. "Yes, that is a concern. But I trust Rogue to make the right decision for herself and the team. We can't hold her back based on her romantic entanglements."
Wolverine's claws popped out as he growled, "I don't know, Professor."
"I don't trust that diagnosis. It's not like Rogue to run off like that. And Gambit? I smell trouble."
Professor Xavier sighed deeply, "You may be right, Wolverine. But at this point, there's little we can do except monitor the situation. We can't force Rogue to do anything she doesn't want to do."
Nightcrawler spoke up, "Professor, what about the mission? Should we not set off to stop the Acolytes?"
"Yes, of course." Professor said
"Let's get moving and regroup at the Blackbird," Cyclops said, standing up from the table. The rest of the team followed suit, and they all made their way towards the hangar.
As the Blackbird took off, Professor Xavier turned to Rogue. "Rogue, I understand that this situation is complicated, and I respect your feelings towards Gambit. However, your loyalty to the X-Men must always come first, especially in times like these."
Rogue nodded her head, understanding the gravity of the situation. "I know, Professor." Rogue replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
Her mind was racing with a mix of emotions: fear, excitement, guilt, and love. She couldn't shake off the memory of Gambit's lips on hers or his gentle touch that made her heart race. She felt a strong pull towards him, and she couldn't deny it, even if it meant going against the team that she called family.
As the Blackbird soared through the sky, Rogue sat quietly in her seat, lost in thought. She could feel her teammates' eyes on her, but she couldn't bring herself to talk to any of them.
Storm broke the silence, "Rogue, I know this is difficult for you, but I need you to focus. We're about to engage in battle, and we need you at your best."
Rogue nodded, taking a deep breath. She knew Storm was right, and she couldn't let her personal feelings distract her from her duty as an X-Man.
As the Blackbird descended, Rogue could see the destruction that the Acolytes had caused below.
Wolverine turned to Cyclops, "Are we sure we want to bring Rogue along?"
"I mean, she's clearly got a lot on her plate right now."
Cyclops stared back at Wolverine, "I understand your concerns, but she's a highly skilled member of our team. We need every available person to help us take down the Acolytes. Besides, if Rogue is able to get close to Gambit, perhaps she can help us understand what's going on between them."
Wolverine sighed, "I guess you're right. I just hate the thought of putting her in danger." But I know what you mean, Gambit's a slippery character, always playing both sides." Cyclops chimed in, his brows knitted together in thought.
Rogue remained silent, her mind occupied with the rush of memories and emotions that flood her whenever she thought about Gambit.
"The Acolytes are becoming more reckless with each attack. This one was the closest they've ever come to causing irreversible damage to the city," Storm commented, her voice heavy with concern.
"That's exactly why we can't take this lightly," Cyclops added, staring out the window of the Blackbird. "Rogue, I need you to stay focused and in control.
"I know this is difficult for you, but we can't let personal issues get in the way of our mission."
"I understand, Cyclops," Rogue replied, her voice strained from holding back her emotions.
As the Blackbird approached the site of the attack, Rogue could see the flashing lights of emergency vehicles and the swirling clouds of smoke filling the sky. She closed her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath to compose herself. She couldn't let her personal feelings for Gambit affect her performance as an X-Man.
The Blackbird landed in a secluded area near the government facility, and the X-Men climbed out, ready for battle. Rogue scanned the area, her eyes alert for any sign of the Acolytes or Gambit.
She couldn't shake off the feeling that something wasn't right, that there was more to this attack than met the eye.
Wolverine, ever the observant one, noticed her hesitation. "You okay, Rogue?" He asked, his voice low and gruff.
Rogue nodded, "I'm fine, Wolverine. Just...thinking," she replied, avoiding his gaze.
Wolverine grunted, his eyes narrowing in suspicion.
"Thinking about what?"
"Nothing, just..." Rogue trailed off, biting her lower lip nervously. "I just have a feeling that something's not right. With the Acolytes, I mean."
Wolverine's expression softened, and he nodded understandingly. "Yeah, I know what you mean. They've been acting pretty erratically lately. Almost like they're trying to provoke us."
Rogue nodded, her mind racing as she tried to make sense of her conflicting emotions.
Suddenly, there was a loud explosion from the government facility, and the X-Men sprang into action. Wolverine sprinted towards the chaos, with Rogue following closely behind.
As they arrived at the scene, Rogue saw that the damage was even worse than she had imagined. The breakdown in security had resulted in massive destruction, and the Acolytes had already fled the area.
Rogue scanned the area, her heart clenching as she searched for any sign of Gambit.
She didn't see him among the Acolytes, and she couldn't shake off the feeling that something had gone wrong.
"Where is he?" she muttered, gripping her gloves tightly.
Suddenly, her thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice. "What up mates " it was Pyro , another member of the Acolytes and a close friend of Gambit.
Rogue's heart skipped a beat, as she turned around to see him standing there, his flamethrower at the ready. She had never seen him without Gambit by his side, and the emptiness inside her grew stronger.
Pyro chuckled, taking a step towards her. "Ah, the little lady wants to know where her beau is."
"Well, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your precious Gambit isn't here." Pyro smirked, his eyes gleaming with amusement.
He started fighting with them creating a burst of fire, surprising Rogue and the X-Men.
Wolverine, with claws out, launched himself at Pyro. The two fought fiercely, sparks flying and the scent of charred flesh filled the air.
The fire got really big.
It looked like Pyro was determined to bring the whole building down with him.
"Anyone got a plan?" Cyclops shouted, firing a barrage of optic blasts at Pyro.
Wolverine grunted in response, lunging at the fire manipulator with his claws.
Rogue watched anxiously from the sidelines, hoping that Gambit would miraculously appear and save the day. But her hopes were quickly dashed when she heard a loud thud behind her.
It was Colossus walking up , his metal skin shimmering in the light of the burning building.
"What's the plan now Cyclops?" They all asked,
"We need to take Pyro down before he causes any more damage," Cyclops replied
"I can handle him," Wolverine growled, his claws extended as he continued to fight Pyro.
Colossus joined the battle, his fists of steel colliding with Pyro's flames. The fire began to dissipate, but Pyro was not giving up easily.
Rogue watched the battle unfold, her thoughts still on Gambit. She knew she had to do something.
"Let me through," she demanded, pushing her teammates aside.
"Rogue, no! It's too dangerous," Cyclops protested.
But she was determined. With a fierce look in her eyes, Rogue charged towards Pyro.
He was surprised by her sudden attack and dropped his guard, giving Wolverine the opening he needed to land a finishing blow. But Rogue didn't want to fight; she wanted answers.
"Where is he?" she Asked him quietly
Pyro sneered, " I'm sorry, sheila but I don't think I can tell you that." Rogue's eyes narrowed, " I don't have time for your secrets. Just tell me where he is."
" Rogue, trust me when I say this. I'm sorry, but there's more to us being here than you know. " Pyro 's tone was suddenly serious, his smirk replaced with a deep frown.
Rogue cocked an eyebrow. "What are you trying to say?"
" All I can say is Magneto's. Got him on a tight leash and not just him all of us. Don't take it personal, it's just business" Pyro quickly said and ran off before Rogue could get any more information out of him. Rogue looked back at her teammates, a mix of curiosity and frustration etched onto her face.
"What did he mean by that?" Cyclops asked, breaking the silence.
"I don't know," Rogue replied with conviction in her voice.
Rouge could feel the tears forming around her eyes. She wanted to break down but they were in the middle of battle.
She had to stay strong, not just for herself but for the rest of the team.
"Rogue! Focus!" Wolverine shouted, breaking her out of her trance. She looked at him and nodded, getting back in the fight.
As they made their way through the building, the team couldn't help but feel on edge. With Pyro's cryptic message about Gambit and Magneto, it was clear that this was no ordinary mission. They had to be on high alert at all times, ready for anything that came their way.
Rogue was particularly unsettled, her thoughts constantly drifting towards Gambit. She wondered where he was, if he was safe, and what Pyro meant by his cryptic message.
She tried to shake off her worries and focus on the mission. She was a part of the X-Men now, and it was her duty to protect those who couldn't protect themselves. She had to put her personal feelings aside, at least for the time being.
Rogue gritted her teeth and fought alongside her teammates, making her way deeper into the burning building.
Suddenly, they heard a loud crash and the sound of shattering glass.
Rogue's eyes narrowed as she clenched her fists. "Sabretooth," she snarled.
Sabretooth, a snarky grin on his face, looked up at Rogue and replied, "Aww, poor Rogue. Missing her beloved Gambit?"
"What are you talking about, Sabretooth?" Rogue demanded, taking a step forward. She could feel her powers thrumming under the surface, ready to erupt at any moment.
Sabretooth smirked, revealing his jagged teeth. "I'm talking about your Mr. Steal-Yo-Girl," he sneered. " All you hear is. I'm complaining about how you misses his little southern bell."
" Don't listen to him, Rogue. He's just trying to rally you up." Jean Grey spoke up, her voice soothing as she tried to calm Rogue down. "We'll get to the bottom of what he's saying soon enough."
Sabretooth laughed " Well, if you were wondering, he's not here. Exactly. He has a different part of this mission that he's doing. That requires him solo, And tin men, over here we just had a little misunderstanding. No big deal, he'll be fine." Cyclops tried his best to reassure Rogue, but she could see the concern in his eyes. "We need to focus on the task at hand and finish this mission. Let's go."
As the team began to move forward, Rogue hesitantly took her place in the formation. She struggled to shake off her worry for Gambit, but she knew that Cyclops was right. She had a job to do and needed to focus on that right now. She couldn't let her emotions cloud her judgment.
" Alright we gonna dance or what bub." Wolverine yelled out.
"Let's get this over with. Sabretooth's not going to give us any more info, and we need to make sure no one else gets hurt." Cyclops' voice cut through the tension, reminding them of their top priority.
Wolverine grunted in agreement before taking off towards Sabretooth, his claws out as a show of force. "I got this, kid. You guys keep moving." He leapt at Sabretooth with fury in his eyes, claws glinting under the city lights.
Rogue chewed anxiously on her lower lip as she watched the battle unfold, her thoughts still fragmented between the mission and Gambit's whereabouts. She shook her head slightly to clear it.
She couldn't afford to be distracted right now. Her mind needed to be sharp and focused, especially since they were dealing with sabretooth.
"Rogue," Nightcrawler's concerned voice broke through her thoughts. "You okay? You look troubled."
"I'm fine, Kurt," she replied, forcing a smile. "Just a little worried about Gambit, that's all."
Nightcrawler nodded sympathetically. "Sabretooth did mention something about him being on a different part of the mission.
Maybe we should regroup and have a discussion on how to proceed." Cyclops suggested, his eyes scanning the area for any signs of danger.
"We don't have time for that, Scott," Storm interjected. "We need to finish this mission as soon as possible before things get any worse."
"Storm is right," Wolverine chimed in, his claws retracting as he got back into formation.
"We can't afford to dawdle. The longer we take, the greater the chance that innocent people will get hurt."
Nightcrawler nodded in agreement, and Jean gave Rogue a reassuring look before turning her attention to Cyclops.
The team moved in sync, advancing towards the building where Sabretooth was last seen. The tension was palpable, each mutant on high alert for any potential threats. Rogue's mind was still on Gambit, and she couldn't shake off the feeling that he was in trouble.
"Rogue, focus," Wolverine said, his claws at the ready.
"I'm trying, Wolverine," she replied, biting her lip.
The battle got a bit intense.
Sabretooth's claws raked across Wolverine's chest, leaving behind shallow cuts and a trail of blood. Wolverine growled in pain and launched a flurry of punches at Sabretooth, but the larger mutant was too strong.
Meanwhile, Rogue was focused on charging up her power. She couldn't touch Sabretooth directly due to his regenerative abilities, but she could absorb his energy and use it against him. She was getting ready to attack then a voice was heard.
"Acolytes, come in Acolytes. The mission is complete. I got the files. Everyone, please report to base. Gambit out. " Sabretooth roared with laughter as he heard the message, unable to contain his amusement at the turmoil that his words had caused.
Rogue didn't know what to do when she heard his voice.
She felt a mix of emotions – anger, love, fear – surge through her body. She wanted to rip the communication device out of Sabretooth's furry paws and shout into it, demanding to know where Gambit was and if he was okay. But she knew that would be a foolish move. Instead, she played it cool, keeping her composure and focusing on the situation at hand.
As Sabretooth laughed and said "I'm a good distraction", Rogue couldn't help but feel sick to her stomach. Was this all just a game to them?
Just another way to cause chaos and destruction? Rogue's heart ached at the thought of Gambit being involved in some dangerous mission, potentially putting himself in harm's way. She couldn't help but feel conflicted - part of her was relieved that he was safe, but another part of her couldn't shake the feeling that this wasn't over yet.
The X-Men continued their fight against Sabretooth, each of them determined to bring him down.
However, their minds were not solely focused on the mission. Rogue, especially, couldn't shake off Gambit's voice in her head. She couldn't help but wonder where he was and what kind of danger he was in.
"Rogue, are you okay?" Cyclops asked, noticing her tense expression.
"I'm fine," she insisted, but her voice wavered slightly.
Storm, who had been silently watching the exchange, placed a comforting hand on Rogue's shoulder. "We'll find him," she said, her voice firm and reassuring.
Meanwhile, Wolverine and Sabretooth were locked in an intense battle. Wolverine's claws slashed through the air, leaving deep gouges in the concrete below. But Sabretooth was relentless, dodging and weaving with surprising agility for a mutant of his size.
His savage grin never wavered, and the look in his eyes promised nothing but pain and destruction for the X-Men.
"This is pointless !" Cyclops screamed. "He's just a distraction!" Cyclops shouted to the team, as they struggled to regain their focus on the battle ahead.
Rogue's mind was racing as she tried to reconcile Gambit's voice in her ear with the situation at hand. It was like a dream, the sound of his voice so clear and close in her ear yet he was miles away.
"Your right." Wolverine snarled, his claws slashing through Sabretooth's flesh in a blink of an eye.
"Let's go every one, we fell in to it this time." Wolverine grumbled."Let's not make it a habit."
Sabretooth got up and laughed. He started to walk off but than turn around and looked at Rogue. "Hey all tell your boyfriend you said hi!" He laughed and walked away.
The sound of his mocking laughter echoed in Rogue's ear as the X-Men made their way back to the Blackbird. The tension was thick in the air, and the normally chatty team was uncharacteristically quiet.
Rogue couldn't shake off the feeling that Gambit was in danger, and her heart ached for him. She replayed his voice message over and over again in her mind, trying to decipher any hidden meaning behind his words.
As they boarded the Blackbird, Cyclops turned to Rogue.
"Are you okay?" he asked, genuine concern etched on his face.
"I will be," she replied, managing a weak smile. "It's just...hard."
"I know," Cyclops nodded in understanding. He knew how complicated her relationship with Gambit was. After all, they were on opposing teams and had to keep their romance a secret.
Storm joined the conversation, her tone softer than usual.
"Rogue, we know this can't be easy for you. "
Rogue fought back the tears that threatened to fall. "Yeah thanks. "
She turned her attention to Wolverine who was brooding in the corner of the Blackbird's cabin, tending to his wounds. "Logan, what do you think about all this?"
Wolverine grunted before replying, " I ain't got no love lost for Gambit, but I don't want him getting hurt, either." He glanced over at Rogue, who was staring blankly out the window of the Blackbird.
"He's still one of us, in his own way," he added softly.
Cyclops nodded, seemingly lost in thought.
"But that still doesn't change the fact with everything going on, and what files did he take anyway, what is Magneto plan here?" Cyclops yelled.
"We need to make sense of this situation. Why does Magneto want Gambit's cooperation? And why is he making him go on solo missions?" Rogue asked, her voice filled with anxiety and worry for Gambit.
Wolverine grunted, "I don't trust Magneto as far as I can throw him. He's always had some twisted plan up his sleeve."
"I agree," said Storm, her voice grave and serious. "But we also can't forget that Gambit chose to be a part of the Brotherhood of Mutants before this."
"But that's it why would him and Pyro just leave to go to him"? Jean interrupted , her voice thoughtful, "Something's not right and we need to figure out what it is."
"I think we all feel that way," Cyclops agreed. He looked at Rogue who was still lost in her thoughts and said, "Rogue, you know him best. What do you think?"
Rogue sighed heavily before speaking up, "I don't know. But I have a bad feeling about this, her voice laced with confusion.
Wolverine's scowl deepened as he shrugged. "I don't know, but it's clear that Gambit is still in the thick of things with the Acolytes, in spite of everything that's happened between him and Rogue. And Magneto, the mastermind behind it all, seems to be using him for his own benefit"
Cyclops frowned, a wrinkle creasing his forehead."I don't like where this is going."
Jean Grey nodded solemnly, her long red hair spilling over her shoulders. "I think it's a valid concern. We need to keep our eyes and ears open, and be prepared for whatever comes our way."
Rogue shifted nervously in her seat, her fingers worrying the fabric of her sleeve. "But what about Gambit?"
"Gambit not the top concern right now." Gotta focus on mission," Wolverine growled, his grizzled features set in a fierce scowl.
Rogue bristled at his words, her eyes flashing with anger. "Remy is always my top concern! And what if the Acolytes has him working on some dangerous mission?" she protested.
Cyclops shot Wolverine a warning look before turning to Rogue. "We understand how you feel, but we can't let our emotions cloud our judgment," he said gently.
"That's right."
We can't afford to be reckless," Cyclops added, his voice steady and reassuring. "But we also can't forget about him."
"I know that," Rogue said, calming down. "But what can we do right now? We don't even know where he is or what he's doing."
"We'll find out. We always do," Wolverine said, clenching his fists."
"Let's focus on the mission first," Cyclops suggested.
"We need to regroup and come up with a plan."
Rogue nodded in agreement, her mind still on Gambit but knowing that her first priority was to her team. They regrouped and talked through their next steps, trying to figure out the best way to take down the Acolytes.
As the discussion went on, Rogue's mind kept drifting back to Remy. She couldn't shake off the feeling that something wasn't right, and that he was in danger.
Wolverine, who had been watching Rogue closely, could sense her worry. He knew what it was like to have someone you care about deeply in peril. He walked over to her, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
"I know you're worried about him, stripes" he said softly.
Rogue looked up at Wolverine, surprised by the tenderness in his gruff voice. "I just can't shake this feeling that he's in trouble."
Storm nodded, her eyes gazing out the window of the Blackbird as they flew back to their base. "We will regroup and come up with a plan."
"But for now, we must stay focused on the mission," Cyclops said in a firm tone, trying to bring the discussion back on track.
Rogue nodded, taking a deep breath to steady herself. She knew that her team was right, and she didn't want to put them in danger by acting impulsively. But her heart ached for Remy and she couldn't shake the feeling that he needed her.
"Alright guys, let's head back and strategize," Wolverine said gruffly, breaking the tense silence.
