Yo, waddup FFN? It's me, RinOta, hitting you guys with another new story! Now, not only is this an MHA fanfic, but it also has to do with an idea that's been brewing in my head for a long while. So, I'm a huge fan of Static Shock(which is majorly underrated btw) and the main hero himself, Static. Since there are a lot of fics where Deku has different powers, I thought it'd make sense to search for one where he has the same powers as Static, and to my surprise, I found none! And I was pretty annoyed by the lack of fics concerning this topic, so I decided to take a page from Thanos' book and make one myself! I think I'verambled enough, so whaddya say we skip straight into the story, shall we...?😏

There are many ways people like to describe life.

Some say life is precious.

Some say life is cruel.

Some say life isn't worth living.

But there's one particular thing people say A LOT about this topic.

Life is unfair.

And that was a lesson Izuku Midoriya not only had to learn at a tender age...

But also grow to overcome ...

"Izuku...?" A feminine voice called as it knocked at the door to a certain room.

At the mention of his name, a certain freckled teen with green hair and black highlights slowly awoke from his slumber, moaning as he raised his head from his pillow.

"Yes, mom...?" Midoriya groggily replied, still clinging onto the covers on his body.

"Honey, aren't you going to get up and get ready for school?" His mother, Inko Midoriya, questioned.

"It's only 5:00 in the morning, mom..." The teen groggily replied, placing his head back on his pillow, "I can still get in a few more minutes of sleep..."

A moment of silence briefly flooded the atmosphere before the older Midoriya finally broke it.

"Izuku... It's 6:55..."

The green-haired teen's eyes almost immediately snapped open, threatening to pop out of their sockets.

"WHAT?!" He yelled in disbelief.

Quickly rising up from his bed, he checked his All-Might themed alarm clock to see that his mother was indeed telling the truth.

'... AHH CRAP!' He mentally shouted in terror.

As if all traces of sleep had vanished from his body, the greenette scrambled out of his bed, hastily rushing out of his bedroom door to the bathroom, unaware of his startled mother who had quickly sidestepped in order to avoid being the target of the swiftly-opened barrier.

"Oh dear..." She said with a sweatdrop.

After an almost record-time freshening up session, and dressing himself up in his black uniform, Izuku Midoriya was officially ready for the day, which meant he could finally make his way to school.

"Alright, mom, I'm gonna head off now!" He stated as he rushed to the door, not wanting to be late for the morning class.

Inko was about to bid her son farewell before she suddenly remembered something she wanted to discuss with him.

"Izuku, wait!" She called out.

The teenager suddenly stopped in his tracks, his hand hovering just above the door knob, and turned to look back at his mother.

"Hm? What is it, mom?" Izuku asked with curiosity, wondering why she stopped him so abruptly.

"I... Um..." Ms. Midoriya showed hesitation in getting her words out, before she eventually let out a sigh, "I-It's nothing... We can talk about it when you come back... You can go now, dear."

Midoriya slightly quirked an eyebrow in confusion at his mother's odd behavior, a hint of worry gracing his features, but he knew he was running late, so he decided to ask her about it later in the day.

"... Um... O-Okay then. I'll see you after school, mom." He said as he opened the door, "Love you."

"Love you too." She shared his sentiment, "Have a good day!" She tried to encourage him as the door finally shut.

As he stepped outside, the teen couldn't help but scoff at his mother's words.

"Yeah... Good day..." He muttered.

As if a person of his status could possibly have a good day.

Finally reaching the door to his classroom, the middle schooler opened the door and was met with all of his fellow classmates.

His classmates who had what he didn't.

Every single one of them, including...

"Well, well, well... If it ain't Deku the quirkless loser himself!"

Izuku couldn't help but sigh in both exasperation and nervousness, as he knew exactly who that voice belonged to.

It was none other than his loud-mouthed ash-blonde-haired bully/tormentor, Katsuki Bakugo, who was laying back in his chair and wore a cocky/vicious grin.

"H-Hello to you too, Kacchan..." He greeted with a meek smile.

"Didn't I tell you to stop calling me that?" Bakugo questioned with an annoyed gaze, "We're not friends you damn shit-for-brains!"

The greenette couldn't help wincing at the loud statement.

Would you believe that these guys used to be best friends?

Oh yeah. Back when they were little kids, Izuku and Katsuki always hung out together.

Their mutual love for pro heroes, especially All Might, the No.1 Hero and Symbol Of Peace, and their desires to be heroes themselves always prompted them be as thick as thieves.

However, when Katsuki got his quirk, Explosion, which made him one of the students with the most potential to be a hero, something changed... Most notably, his ego.

But when it was exposed that Izuku was quirkless, meaning he didn't have a quirk or metahuman ability of his own, things changed for him too, but not exactly in a positive way.

You see, being quirkless is pretty much the modern society equivalent of being disabled, and quirkless people don't exactly have the best life around here.

Being surrounded by individuals with special abilities while having none of your own can really fuck your entire life up. Most quirkless people aren't even considered as people and are seen as liabilities by others in society, which of course stems a lot of bullying and abuse, which sometimes even leads to suicide.

All in all, quirkless people had it pretty bad, and Izuku unfortunately had to learn all of that from an early age.

After that day, his classmates started to get meaner, they'd pick on him any chance they could, and sometimes even his teachers would pay no attention to him at all.

However, the worst outcome was when Katsuki, his best friend, would eventually turn on him, seeing him as inferior to him, and join in on the Midoriya hate train, eventually rising to the ranks of Deku tormentor No.1.

He even gave him a pretty derogatory nickname, "Deku." Which was a term for useless, and the name quickly became popular among other students.

As he got older, the now 14 year old would sometimes have to try and find ways to evade his friend and his lackeys before they could get the chance to bully him, which usually left him with some bruises...

"Yeah... Y-You could've fooled me..." He weakly joked.

"The fuck you just say to me?" Bakugo snarled, mini explosions crackling in the palm of his raised hand.

"N-Nothing! Heh heh..." The teen frantically responded in panic with a nervous grin.

"Hm. That's what I thought." The ash blonde haired teen stated, "Now get the hell outta my face before I blow you to kingdom come." He threatened.

"Uhh... S-Sure thing..." Deku meekly followed his former friend's order.

Moving to his desk and placing his bag down, the greenette finally took his seat.

As he waited for his homeroom teacher to make his entrance, Midoriya's ears picked up on the sound of whispering and laughing among two of his classmates, particularly a brunette with fire hands and a boy with an abnormal giraffe-like neck.

He wasn't stupid, he knew they were making fun of him without any shame, but it doesn't mean he liked it.

'I don't know why that guy's laughing at me... All his quirk does is make his neck look like a question mark.' He couldn't help but mentally insult the particular classmate with slight irritation.

Seriously, how much help could you provide with a quirk like that? The only thing he could think it'd be useful for was licking the dust off a ceiling fan.

Before he could pay any more attention to the chattering of his mates, their teacher finally entered the homeroom.

"Morning, class!" He greeted as he moved to his desk, "Sorry for running a little late today! I guess even in today's day and age, traffic is still a killer." He joked.

"Anyways, the first lesson will begin in a few minutes, so make sure to get all of your books ready before then!" He instructed.

All of the students followed their teacher's instructions, including Izuku, who inwardly sighed.

Time for another eventful school day to start.

The school bell rang, signifying that the day had officially come to an end.

'Whew! Thank goodness...' Midoriya sighed with relief as he stood up.

One by one, all of students took their belongings and exited the classroom, obviously eager to head home.

Izuku himself had finished packing his belongings into his bag, and was just about ready to leave the classroom himself...

Until he turned around and was met with the sight of Katsuki, along with his two lackeys behind him, staring right at him.

"Awww, leaving so soon, Deku?" Bakugo asked with faux disappointment, "But you and I haven't even gotten the chance to play yet..." He finished with a mischievous smirk.

"Errr, S-Sorry, Kacchan..." The greenette nervously apolgized, "But uhhh... I-I just remembered I have some important business back home, s-so I kinda have to get going..." He tried to make an excuse for himself with a nervous grin.

"Nuh uh... You're not gettin' outta this, Deku." The ash blonde teen dismissed with a grin as he smashed his palm into his fist, creating a tiny explosion, "Now c'mon. Be a good little wimp and eat your daily dose of knuckle sandwiches..."

The statement made Izuku start to sweat bullets as he knew the malice that was hidden behind those words, and he really wasn't in the mood to be a human punching bag again.

'Dang it... I really don't wanna go through this right now... I just wanna go home...!' He mentally whined as he backed up from his desk, while Bakugo slowly marched towards him.

'If only there was something here I could use as a distraction to escape...But I don't see a-'

He was interrupted when he felt something bump into his backside, and his eyes darted to see that it was his teacher's desk.

And there was a bottle of water propped onto it.

A cold, and unclosed bottle of water.

This lit a lightbulb inside Izuku's head, as he suddenly got an idea, 'Wait... That's it! This is just what I need!'

It was pretty risky, but if he played his cards right, he'd be home free.

So, he took a deep breath, and in one swift motion, the teen quickly grabbed the bottle and splashed its contents right onto his bully, who raised his hands in defence.

"ARGH! WHAT THE HELL?!" Bakugo swore in a mixture of surprise and irritation.

Not letting the opening he got go to waste, the scrawny greenette quickly moved towards the window on his right, and jumped out just before one of Bakugo's lackey's could grab him.

"Aw crap! He jumped out the window again!" The lackey stated.

Now normally, jumping from the highest floor in a school building would not end prettily. Fortunately though, there was a dumpster nearby that could cushion one's fall, and Izuku managed to land right inside of it, the pile of garbage bags saving him from a broken back.

Before the lid could close on him, he quickly hopped out of the dumpster and ran off as if his life depended on it. Well, it sorta did...

An enraged Bakugo could be seen pushing his goons away from the window and coming into view.

"DEKU YOU SNEAKY LITTLE BASTARD! YOU THINK YOU'RE SO SMART, HUH?!" The explosive teen angrily shouted after his former friend, "JUST WAIT UNTIL I GET MY HANDS ON YOU, YOU USELESS LOSER!"

Meanwhile, the so-called "loser" himself ran a few more stops before he eventually slowed down to catch his breath.

As he panted, he couldn't help but let out a shaky yet victorious laugh.

"I did it...! My plan actually worked...!" He beamed at his success.

The teen was eventually able to calm himself down from his adrenaline rush.

Man, running definitely isn't easy when you're a scrawny teenager with little to no cardio.

His many times escaping Bakugo were pretty much his only source of exercise, and it was probably going to be even harder now after today's stunt.

Oh well, at least today was Friday, which would give him two days of freedom.

Although, his mind couldn't help but go back to the last sentence he heard Katsuki shout at him.

More specifically, the insult he spat out.

Useless.

Worthless.

Good for nothing.

Those were all words that Izuku had heard directed at him before.

Over the years, he had grown used to it, but that still doesn't mean he wasn't affected by it.

All this because his dream was shattered at a young age by his quirkless nature, which caused nobody to believe in him.

Even though he still secretly desired to go to U.A High School, one of the most popular schools in the nation for training upcoming heroes, he knew the chance of him getting in was pretty much impossible, especially when he doesn't have a quirk.

But U.A abandoned that rule, so surely he could still give it a try.

Right...?

Instead of continuing to mope around, the greenhead quickly shook his head.

'C'mon, no time to keep feeling sorry for myself... I need to get back home before mom starts worrying about me... And I'd hate to worry to her...'

And at that, the teen held onto his yellow bag as he began to make his way home.

A few blocks away from here, the camera could be seen venturing through a certain alleyway, before it settled on the sealed entrance to an abandoned building.

Fading into the building, we are greeted with the sight of various mysterious men hanging around a dark interior.

Most of them wore undershirts with baggy trousers, some wore either hats or bandanas, some even had tattoos, and one of them was even smoking.

All in all, it wouldn't be hard to tell from this description that most of these men were gang members.

One of them, a burly man with concrete skin, wearing a green durag, stepped in front of everybody, gaining their attention.

He cleared his throat before speaking.

"Alright boys, I'm gotta bounce for a bit to get ready, so I'm just gonna give y'all a reminder." He began.

Judging by how all of the men in the area listened to him intently, it was safe to assume that he was the leader of these goons.

"You already know what's gonna go down with those rival punks at the docks tonight." He began, "So be ready, and make sure not to be late."

The brute was about to leave before he turned around once again.

"Oh, and remember... Tonight's the night we're gonna crush those losers..." He stated before gaining a wicked grin, "So make sure not to show 'em any mercy..."

Most of the other thugs in the room gained crazed and mischievous grins on their faces before they all chanted, "NO MERCY!"

Satisfied by his crew's compliance, the thug finally exited the door, leaving most of the gang members to chat amongst themselves excitedly, as the moment from earlier had hyped most of them up.

One of the thugs, who wore golden grills, walked up to one of their companions whose arms were crossed.

Their companion in question was a dark skinned African-American looking man who had cornrows, along with a silver earring on his left ear, and wore a sleeveless dark gray jacket over a black singlet, along with purple trousers.

"So, you ready for the big showdown tonight, Ivan?" He asked with a grin, "I'm guessin' that scowl on your face is just a way for you to hide your excitement, huh?"

The black individual now identified as Ivan simply scoffed.

"Yeah. I'm jumpin' with joy..." He replied in a low voice.

The thug with grills burst with laughter at his sarcastic remark.

"Alright then asshole! I'll let you get back to whatever it was you were doin'." He chuckled, patting his shoulder, "See ya later!"

Once the thug left Ivan to himself, he simply closed his eyes as he went back to his thoughts, paying no mind to everyone else around him.

It was now around 7:00 in the evening, and Izuku Midoriya was currently back at home, more specifically, chilling inside his room.

He was sat behind his computer, watching random videos on YouTube as he clicked on whatever video he could find.

During his search, his eyes darted towards a video talking about a certain comic book, named "Black Lightning."

The cover art caught Izuku's attention, and definitely gained his interest.

"Huh... This book actually looks pretty cool." He whispered in awe, "Maybe I can check if the comic shop has this in stock tomorrow." He planned.

Oh yeah, collecting and reading comics were also a hobby of Izuku's. If you went inside his room, the only media that rivaled his All Might merchandise was definitely his entire shelf of comic books.

Even if you live in a world that's full of real superheroes, that doesn't mean you still can't enjoy a good ol' comic book.

However, as he continued to surf the web, the greenette felt himself getting thirsty, and got out of his chair, stretching the stiffness out his body.

'Whew, I'm getting pretty thirsty...' He mentally commented, 'I should go and get something to drink.'

'Maybe there's still some milk in the fridge.' He silently hoped as he left his room and entered the kitchen.

He opened the fridge, smiling in satisfaction as he found his desired drink, and poured some into a glass to down it.

As he downed the milk, the sound of a door opening reached his ears, and his eyes popped open to see his mother steeping into the living room.

"O-Oh! Izuku..." The woman was briefly startled by her son's appearance.

"Hey mom! Just came down to get some milk." He greeted with a smile, "Everything alright?" He asked.

"U-Uh, of course, honey." She answered, stuttering a bit, "Everything's perfectly fine!"

Nodding at his mother's response, the teen finished his milk and moved to go back into his roo-

"Actually..." His mother's voice stopped him in his tracks, "N-No..."

The greenette turned back to his mom in confusion, and it only grew when he saw the nervous but serious look on her face.

"Uhm... Mom?" He called either curiosity, "I-Is something wrong...?"

However, the older Midoriya gave no verbal answer, and simply walked over to the dining table, taking a seat.

"Please sit down, Izuku." Inko instructed, "We need to talk..."

The teen was taken aback by his mother's sudden demand, but complied anyway despite his ever growing confusion, "Uh... O-Okay...?"

He took the seat directly opposite his mother at the table, and a brief silence overtook the atmosphere before Izuku decided to get to the bottom of this.

"So err... W-What is it that you want to talk about, mom...?" Midoriya questioned with curiosity.

His mother could be seen mentally encouraging herself to find her words, before she finally got them out.

"Izuku..." She began, "As your mother, you know that it's practically my job to support you in almost everything you do... And I try to do that every chance I get..."

"But being a mother also means that I'm responsible for you until you can take care of yourself..." She added, "Which includes your safety..."

Izuku only grew more confused at the sudden reminder by his mom.

"Err... Y-Yeah, I know all that..." He responded, "But... Why are you telling me this mo-?"

"Your high school paper..." She cut in.

"When we were going through the list of high schools for you to attend... The one you chose and enlisted was U.A High..." Inko reminded.

The younger Midoriya couldn't help but get a feeling of anxiety about where the conversation was heading, seeing as his mother suddenly felt the need to remind him of his choice, but he replied nonetheless.

"Umm... Y-Yeah? I did choose U.A..." He affirmed, "I-I mean... It is my dream school... And going there would bring me one step closer to becoming a pro-"

"You can't go to U.A."

Right then, Izuku's eyes widened and he felt a wave of dread start to crawl up on him.

"W-W-What...?" He asked in a quiet voice, silently hoping that he hadn't heard his mother correctly.

Surely she didn't say what he thought she just said, right?

"I-I'm sorry, Izuku... But I can't let you go to U.A... I'm going to change your school of choice..." The mother revealed her plans in a serious tone.

Her words had pierced through Izuku's heart like a dagger, and he stared at his mother with a look of surprise and disbelief.

"Wha...? B-But... W-Why?" The greenette shakily asked, "W-Why do you... W-Why would you... W-Why...?!"

The woman almost faltered at the growing despair on her son's face since she had expected him to react like this, but nonetheless, she carried on.

"Listen, Izuku... I-I know that this might seem unfair to you... But you have to understand that I-"

"No." Izuku's voice suddenly interjected, making her look up at him.

"Y-You can't..." He spoke in a quiet but shaky voice, his expression invisible as his gaze was on his hands which were clenching his thighs, "Y-You can't do this... Y-You can't pull me out of U.A..."

The quiet tone in his voice made a feeling of nervousness start to well up in his mother.

"I-Izuku... I'm sorry..." She apolgized with guilt, "But you're still my son, and I have to do everything I can to keep you sa-"

"DON'T GIVE ME THAT!"

The older Midoriya was startled by the sudden outburst from her son, as she had never seen him lose his cool like that.

"You know that ever since I was a toddler, it's been my dream to become a hero, mom!" He reminded her with a fierce gaze, "I've always wanted to grow up to become a hero who could save everyone with a smile just like All Might!"

"And you know that U.A has always been my dream school since it'd be a great help in my journey! Everything I could possibly learn about being a pro lies in that very school...!" He added, "So why would you want to deprive me of that?!"

"Because it's too dangerous for you, Izuku!" Inko also raised her voice, her expression showing that she was trying not to tear up, "At the end of the day you're still my son! And sending you to a school like U.A would only mean I'm sending you to get harmed! I just can't do that to my poor baby!"

"I already know all the risks that come with being a hero, mom!" The younger greenette fired back, "Part of being a hero is having to get injured! I'm not afraid of that happening to me!"

"But I am!" The mother swiftly retorted, bringing a hand to her chest, "You're my only son, Izuku! I couldn't bear the thought of anything bad happening to you! How do you think I'd feel if you..." She struggled to get the last part out.

"... I-If you were to die...?"

Her question made her son slightly recoil, as he knew she had a point.

But he couldn't just back down...

"I... I-I promise that I'd never let things get to that poi-"

"You can't promise that, Izuku!" Inko cut him off with a stern glare.

"M-Maybe I can't, but I have to try!" The younger Midoriya desperately tried to fight his case, "A-As long as I believe in myself, I can overcome any obsta-!"

"HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY DO THAT WITHOUT GETTING HURT, IZUKU?!" She yelled, finally getting fed up with her son's stubbornness.

"YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A QUI-!"

However, the mother's eyes widened and she quickly slapped her hand over her mouth before she could finish her statement.

Izuku's eyes widened as well and he let out a gasp, since he knew exactly what his mother was about to say.

A brief but loud silence filled the dining area, as neither of the two spoke a single word...

It was so uncomfortable that it was reaching the point of becoming unbearable.

Until...

"I don't even have what...?"

"Wuh... What?" Inko uttered with slight anxiety.

Izuku's eyes couldn't be seen, as they were currently shadowed by his hair, and something about it filled Inko with a sense of nervousness.

"Go on... Say it..." Midoriya quietly urged, sounding like he was restraining himself from lashing out.

His request, which sounded a lot more like a demand, put his mother on edge, and the worry and guilt inside her was only building.

"I-Izuku-"

"What was it you were about to say I don't have...?"

Inko stared at her son with a worried and guilty gaze, clearly struggling to come up with a response.

"Don't bother... I already know..." He suddenly stopped her before she could answer his question.

"I... I-Izuku..." Inko shakily called her son's name, "I-I didn't... I-I didn't mea-"

"Is that what you really think of me...?" He quietly interjected, "That I'm nothing but a quirkless loser who has a hopeless dream...?"

"What...? N-No! Of course not, Izuku!" His mother quickly answered with a trembling voice, "You're my son! I love you, and I'd never think of you in that way!"

"Then look me in my eyes, mom..." The younger Midoriya instructed, "Look me in eyes and tell me..."

Then, Izuku rose his head to look into his mother's eyes with a fierce and serious glare.

"Do you believe that I could become a hero without a quirk?"

His question made the older Midoriya fall silent, as she just couldn't bring herself to answer.

It wasn't that she was unable to respond to his question, but more that she knew she couldn't answer it without displeasing him.

However, the silence and the conflicted expression on her face gave Izuku all the answer he needed.

"Just as I thought..." He spoke out, sounding like he was crushed.

"I-Izuku... I-I'm sorr-"

"You're just like the rest of them..." He added, making his mom blink in surprise, "All of you are the same..."

"N-None of you believe I can do it... Y-You all think the same of me..." His voice sounded as if he was trying hard not to break, "T-That I'm just some weak kid who wants to be hero but will only get himself killed... A-All because Idon't have a quirk..."

"I-Izuku... Please..." Inko tried to reason with him, she herself trying not to cry, "Y-You need to-"

"No... I-I'm done... I-I've had it... Screw it all..." He barely held himself together.

"Y-You win, okay...? I can'tbecome a hero... I have no power... I-I'm just a useless kid with a hopeless dream...!"

He slammed his fists on table, scaring the daylights out of his mother as he stared at her with a tearful and hurt expression.

"I admit it! I'm nothing but a good for nothing loser who can't do anything! Are you happy now, huh?! IS THAT WHAT YOU WANTED TO HEAR?!"

His outburst absolutely stunned Inko, who was flabbergasted by the display of frustration and anger from her son.

However, before she could even think of a response, Izuku suddenly shot up from the table and raced towards the door.

"I-Izuku! Wait, don't go-!"

"DON'T COME NEAR ME!" He shot back in a furious tone, making her recoil in shock.

And at that, he loudly slammed the door right behind him, leaving himself outside.

The single mother stared at the shut door her son had just ran out of with a look of disbelief.

It only took a few seconds before the sound of broken sobs were let out by the remaining occupant of the Midoriya home.

Meanwhile, in a certain area, more specifically the docks in Musutafu, a certain crowd of thugs could be seen marching in.

Most of them wore determined and serious expressions, while some looked thrilled and bloodthirsty.

The one leading the pack, the concrete-skinned brute from earlier, looked like he was ready for war himself.

As they entered the premises, they were greeted with the sight of a fellow group of thugs.

However, it was clear as day that these hooligans weren't exactly allies to them.

And then, their leader, a muscular man with a red goatee and red hair with yellow streaks dressed in a red shirt and sagged khaki trousers, slowly stepped out to stand in front of his crew.

"Well, look who finally decided to show up!" He taunted with a mischievous grin.

"There ain't no chance in hell I would've missed this, F-Stop." The concrete-skinned thug responded, "You've been a pain in me and my boys' asses for way too long!"

"I could say the same to you, Wade buddy!" The now-identified F-Stop retorted, "Out of all the gangs I've crushed in my time, you and your posse have definitely been the biggest roaches so far!"

"It takes a lot more than a few scraps to put me and my gang down!" Wade retorted.

"Eh, no problem." F-Stop shrugged before he smashed his fist into his palm, "Guess we'll just have to remind you who exactly runs these streets...!" He threatened with a smirk.

"We'll see about that, hothead...!" Wade retorted with a fierce glare.

"Enough talkin'! It's about time we get things started already" F-Stop shouted as ran forward, signaling his gang to follow, "LET'S DO THIS!"

As the rival gang began to advance, Wade shouted to his men behind him.

"C'MON BOYS! LET'S TEACH THESE FOOLS WHO'S REALLY ON TOP!"

With the signal given, his fellow gang members let out a battle cry as they began to charge forward.

And the camera slowly zoomed in as both gangs advanced towards each other, ready to engage in a vicious battle.

"Damn it!"

A certain teary-eyed greenette cursed in frustration as he repeatedly slammed his hand on a wall.

"Damn it! Damn it! DAMN IT ALL!"

His eventually stopped his assault on the hard surface as his hand was beginning to bruise.

"W-Why...?!" The greenette shakily asked no one in particular as tears started to run down his face, "W-Why can't I just have a small ounce of hope in my life...?"

Feeling his strength leave him, the teenager felt himself slowly slump down to the ground, falling to his knees.

He stared down with a scrunched face of depression as droplets of his tears began to hit the floor.

"*Sniff* I-I really am hopeless... Even my own mom doesn't believe in me..." Izuku stated with despair.

After the fight he had with his mother, Midoriya had stormed out of the house and ran off into the streets of the night, unable to hold in his emotions.

He had raced along for what felt like hours, not caring about any stares he got from onlookers, before he eventually hid away in a certain alleyway after running for a while.

And now he was sulking over his current predicament.

"Nobody believes in me... I-I've tried so hard to stay hopeful despite everything that's happened... But I just can't anymore...!" He cried out.

"I was born without a quirk... All of my classmates pick on me... My own best friend turned on me... And now things between me and my mom are messed up forever!" He wallowed in despair, "Why can't my life just have some sort of meaning to it?! What's the point of me even living it, huh?!"

For such a long time, Izuku had tried so hard to keep his true feelings about his life hidden.

Whenever his mother would ask him about his day at school, he'd always put up a front and act as if he was fine and harbored no negative feelings.

However, after tonight's disaster, the teen could no longer keep his emotions bottled up, and let all of them out in his eventual breakdown.

After a few more minutes of quietly sobbing, Izuku finally tired himself out, and slowly sat on the ground, facing his back on the wall.

He sat in a brief moment of silence, quietly sniffling as he gazed at the ground with bloodshot eyes.

"Maybe Kacchan was right... My life really does have no substance..." He referenced one of his former friend's insults, "I've always been so adamant on becoming a hero but realistically there's no chance of that ever happening. Especially with me being so weak and powerless..."

"And now I've ruined my relationship with mom all because I was being so stubborn..." He grimaced, "Stubborn over an impossible dream..."

"I really shouldn't have blown up at her the way I did... At the end of the day, she was just trying to look after me and keep me safe since I'm her only son..." He stated with deep regret, "And yet I berated her for it..."

After a while of sitting on the cold and dirty ground, the broken teen slowly brought himself up and dusted himself off.

'I definitely can'tstay out here by myself... I should get back home and apologize to her for how I acted.' He resolved in his head, finally exiting the dark alleyway.

'And then... I guess all that'll be left for me to do is finally give up and move on from my dream...' He mentally stated in a melancholic tone.

However, before the green-haired teen could finally make his way home, his ears suddenly picked up a loud sound.

"Huh? What was that?" He asked nobody in particular.

Turning his head towards the direction he heard the sound from, he was met with the sight of the docks.

"Wait, the docks...?" He mentioned with a bit of surprise, "How far exactly did I run?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

'But more importantly, what was that loud noise I heard over there earlier...?' He mentally asked, furrowing his eyebrows in curiosity, 'Is there a villain attack going on or something? I knowvillains attacking at this time isn't unheard of, but usually there'd be a lot more commotion than this...'

Part of him wanted to just ignore the whole thing and go back home, although his natural curiosity for heroics was preventing him from doing so.

'I should just leave and forget all about this... And yet Ican'thelp but be curious about what that noise was...'

The greenette silently debated with himself in his head, deciding over if he should go on home or inspect what that noise was.

Finally, he let out a groan of defeat.

'Dang it... I just can't shake my natural inquisitiveness...!' He mentally exclaimed in exasperation before exhaling through his nose.

'Alright fine... I'll sneak over there and try to see what's going on without getting too close...' He declared his plan in his head, 'And if there's anything illegal going on, I'll see what to do from there...'

With his mind set, the greenette made his way over to the docks.

Seeing as how there weren't any guards or security around, he didn't really have to do much sneaking in.

He eventually reached the entrance and closed it behind him, deciding to venture a bit further into the docks.

As he went deeper, the sound of fighting slowly filled the teen's ears, which made him feel a bit uneasy.

However, he stopped when he reached a certain spot, and Izuku felt his eyes widen as he gasped at the sight in front of him.

Right in front of Izuku was the sight of various gang members engaged in a vicious brawl amongst themselves.

Flurries of punches and kicks were thrown in the battle, and most of the thugs looked like they were either having the time of their lives, or were on the receiving end of a serious beating.

However, this wasn't just a gang war of fisticuffs, but it also included the use of weapons and even quirks.

One of the thugs, who had two shotguns for hands, could be seen shooting at some of his attackers, with one of them not being so lucky, which made Izuku cover his mouth in shock.

Another gangster with claws could be seen 'slicing and dicing' various opponents of his with a gleeful grin.

And one thug, who had dark-skin, could be seen knocking out various opponents, seemingly not using his quirk.

All in all, it was a violent gang war that looked like it was about to turn into a giant bloodbath.

'T-This is no villain attack... This is a totally brutal gang war!' Izuku commented on the scene with a horrified expression, as he wasn't expecting to be greeted with a sight like this

Although, the boy knew that staying here was dangerous because there was definitely the chance of one of the gangsters noticing him and assuming he was an enemy.

And he definitely wasn't in any hurry to witness the consequence of that.

'There's no way I can stay here with all the risks that come with it...' He mentally stated, 'I-I better get out of here and try to call the po-'

Unfortunately, before the boy could move back to the way he came, he was interrupted when he narrowly dodged an unconscious body that flew towards him.

He looked at the unconscious thug before his eyes met the figure who knocked them out.

And it was none other than F-Stop, the leader of the rival gang of Wade.

The muscular gang leader scoffed at the thug he slumped before his eyes met an individual he didn't recognize standing near it.

A rather scrawny and shorter individual with freckles and green and black hair, who looked terrified.

'O-Oh no!' Izuku mentally exclaims at the fact that he had been spotted.

"Huh...? Who the hell're you, kid?" F-Stop asked with a raised eyebrow, "What's a shrimp like you doin' over here...?"

The teen didn't answer, as he simply stared back at the fearsome gang leader with a nervous expression.

"Not one for words, eh? That's all right." F-Stop began to advance towards the scared teenager, "Guess I'll just have to settle with usin' you as an example..." He smashed his fist into his palm with a mischievous grin.

The cowering teen backed up in fear as the hot-headed gang leader marched towards him.

'Crap crap crap! I'm in real big trouble now!' Izuku nervously commented on his predicament.

He only wanted to check what was going on at the docks and leave right away, but instead his dumb curiosity led to him not only witnessing a gang fight, but also being targeted by one of the thugs!

However, just before the greenette could get beaten to a pulp, a bright light suddenly shone on both him and his attacker.

"Ah! My eyes!" F-Stop shouted as he covered his eyes.

"H-Hold on... Is that...?" Izuku whispered.

Meanwhile, the other remaining thugs at the docks slowly paused their fighting when they were also bombarded by more bright lights.

"What the...?" One of them spoke.

"FREEZE!" A voice boomed from a loud speaker.

The voice it came from was a policeman, who was riding inside of a police helicopter.

"Police helicopters!" Izuku exclaimed in surprise.

It seemed like somebody had notified the police of the gang war, as multiple police helicopters filled the scene, flashing their lights.

"You are in a restricted area! Throw out all weapons, deactivate your quirks and step into the open!" One of the policemen demanded.

But of course, instead of following the instruction, most, no sorry, ALL of the gang members immediately forgot about their brawl and scattered in various directions, since nothing separates a group of criminals more than a police vehicle.

One of the thugs, who had apparently been feeling bold, used their quirk to shoot at one of the police choppers, damaging their light.

And seeing this as his chance, Izuku ran over to a nearby caged fence.

'My one way out of here is blocked, so IguessI'lljust have to hide over here for now...' He commented in his head, silently praying that he'd make it out of this whole ordeal alive.

As for the police choppers, two of them were flying after two thugs who were running like their loves depended on it.

Getting tired of the chase, a policeman in the chopper on the left, pulled out a shotgun and shot at a bundle of gas canisters in front of the two gangsters, hoping to cut them off.

As soon as the bullet made contact, it caused the gas canister to detonate, which not only launched the two thugs back, but also caused a chain explosion amongst its other canisters which resulted in a great explosion of gas, blowing away anyone near the canisters.

As a few more police cars entered the area, Izuku noticed that there was a certain gas with an odd color flowing in the air, and he started to cough.

"What the...? Is this some type of purple gas...? What even is this...?" He asked in confusion.

As the gas got bigger and filled the environment, every remaining thug who inhaled the substance violently coughed as they tried to get it out of their system to no avail.

However, nobody in the premises was prepared for what the effects of inhaling the strange gas would be.

One of the coughing thugs doubled over, and as he fell to the floor, his face suddenly start to melt as if it were ice cream, which caused him to scream in pain.

Another thug let out a scream of terror as their eyes suddenly started to glow.

And one more gangster let out a scream of agony as their body started to violently inflate, as if they were about to explode.

'Wuh... W-What's happening to them...?!' Izuku witnessed the sight with a horrified expression, 'Those guys look like they're turning into monsters! Wait... I-Is that going to happen to me too?!'

One of the cops in the area stared at the scene from his car with a disturbed expression.

"What the hell's going on...?"

"Grab your mask." His partner, who had already grabbed his own gas mask, instructed.

One by one, every cop in the area put on their gas masks before stepping out of their vehicles.

As for our protagonist of this story, he was in no hurry to stay at the premises, especially after seeing what the gas had done to those thugs, and was quickly making his way out.

'Crap! I don't wanna end up like those poor thugs! I've gotta hurry up and get out of here!' He exclaimed as he stepped on a crate in order to jump a top of the chained fence.

Before he could successfully get over the barrier, he started to violently cough once again.

'Dang it...! *Cough* That gas is too strong! *Cough*' He mentally stated before he suddenly felt his eyes get droopy.

'N-No... C'mon... I-I have to... G-Go...' He desperately tried to fight the drowsiness, 'Need to... Get to... M-Mom...'

'*Cough* C-Can't... F-Fight it...'

The greenette felt all strength leave his body as his body succumbed to the drowsiness, falling over the fence and landing with a hard thud.

And the camera pans across his slumped figure as it fades out, leaving us to question the fate of the quirkless teenager...

The sound of soft snoring could be heard as we ventured into the room of a certain teenager.

The room was filled with All Might memorabilia, ranging from posters to action figures to an All Might-themed alarm clock, and it was even packed with a bunch of comic books.

The camera finally pans towards the sleeping teenager in question, which was none other than...

Izuku Midoriya...?

As the apparently alive greenetee twisted and turned under his sheets, he was unaware of traces of electricity crackling through his body.

Finally, the boy quickly rose from his bed with a gasp.

He frantically shifted his eyes towards the corners of his room, realizing that he was not in fact sleeping on the streets, but inside of his own bedroom!

"Wuh... I-I'm home... I-I'm alive...!" He exclaimed in shock as he patted up his own body to make sure, "But... H-How...? I thought for sure I was a goner after that gas explosion... Or... Was that all just a dream...?"

His eyes darted towards his clock which read, "7:00AM" and he remembered that today was a Saturday.

"Well... Whether it was a dream or not, what matters is that I'm still alive." He commented with a grin, "I should get out of bed and get ready for the morning."

However, as the teen got up from his bed to exit the room, he suddenly felt something wrap around his leg.

"Huh? What the...?" He spoke with confusion when he noticed his blanket sticking to his leg.

He moved his leg for a bit before he kicked the cover back to his mattress with a grunt.

"Darn static electricity..." Izuku commented as he turned back to exit the room, only to squeak in surprise when the blanket suddenly flew back to him as if he were a magnet.

He struggled for a while as he grabbed at the rather stubborn blanket and threw it back to his bed.

"Down, boy!" He yelled as if he were an owner scolding his dog, only for the sheet to defy his demand and wrap itself around him again.

Midoriya stumbled backwards as he grappled with the blanket, struggling to get it off him.

As he stepped outside his bedroom, he was able to bundle the sheet up into a ball and throw it back inside before slamming the door closed, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Thank goodness..." He uttered, sliding against the door with relief, "What the heck was that all about...?"

Although, once he gazed across the hallway in his house, he noticed how a certain person couldn't been seen, which made his expression drop since he knew exactly what it meant.

"She hasn't come out of her room yet..." He noted sadly.

It seems like the fight he had with his mother last night really affected her, as she hadn't stepped out of her room at all, which was unusual since by this time she was always awake and making breakfast for Izuku.

'*Sigh* I still feel terrible for the way I lashed out at her yesterday...' He stated with regret, 'I wish I could a way to make it up to her...' He wished as he stared at her locked room.

'She'sprobably still asleep by now... I should wait until she wakes up and try to apologize to her by then...' He figured.

With his plan set, the teen finally made his way to the bathroom, ready to freshen himself up.

However, as he stepped inside and moved to flip the switch, the lights in the room suddenly switched on by themselves, making him blink in surprise.

"... Okay... T-That definitely wasn't normal..." He commented as he stared at the untouched switch, "We should probably have an electrician look at that..."

Brushing it off, Izuku moved towards the sink and hovered his hand near it, but before he could turn it on, the sound of a hair dryer running startled him.

"Huh..." He uttered with a raised eyebrow when he noticed that it was his mother's hair dryer.

However, when he grabbed it and raised it to take a look, he let out a gasp when he noticed that it was unplugged.

"W-Woah!" He exclaimed as he dropped the device in shock, "M-Mom's hair dryer! It's possessed!"

However, when the teen looked up at the mirror, he only felt his shock grow when he noticed that he was emitting a bundle of electricity.

"W-WHOA! W-WHAT THE?!" He jumped back in shock, looking down at the sparks running through his body in shock, "W-WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME?!"

He stared down at his hands in a surprise, but also with a bit of awe.

"I... I-I'm like a human fusebox! But... H-How am I doing this...?!" He asked with furrowed eyebrows, "A quirkless person couldn't do this... I-It's impossible...!"

Unless...

'H-Hold on a sec... That gas explosion from last night...'

His mind flashed back to the explosion, and more specifically, what happened to the thugs that night who had inhaled the gas.

'It looked like some of those gang members were changing after they had inhaled that gas, almost like they were mutating or something...'

'But I was there too... And Ialso inhaled it... So does that mean...?'

And then, the teen let out a gasp of surprise before he slowly stared into the mirror with wide eyes, his body still crackling with electricity.

'Did that gas explosion... Give me a... Q-Quirk...?!'

Aaaand first chapter done! Whoo! That took em a while to finish writing 😅 But anyways, that'sthe first chapter of Static Deku done guys!
