Well hello there my lovelies. No point in denying the fact I procrastinated because that would be a lie. BET YOU DIDN'T EXPECT AN UPDATE FROM ME HAHAHAHAHA! Oh my people, I had bad writers block, because I like to write dramatic things I cannot get myself out of, I am just so smart that way :D *pets my head* Anyway I wrote this chapter hoping to get to about 8000 words, I wrote this every now and again and one day inspiration just came to me with the help of Clyrnin Forever THANK YOU! And I began writing like crazy until it was like 3 in the morning and I was like wow I need sleep, so I had to put my laptop to sleep, and when I came back to it, I didn't know what to do to carry it on. So I stopped, but at a good bit so it is cool me amigos! And it's all set entirely in Myrnins POV! YAY chapter 22, I love even numbers!

Anyway my fellow Night Children lovers, I hope you had a wonderfully magical fantastical Christmas and New Year. And if your new year's resolution is the same as mine (dieting) good luck, because as of right now I am failing miserably, I had one to many chocolates today *cries into my shoe*.
So this chapter we get to venture into Myrnin and Gwions past, what I created, I read Daylighters and Gwion is dead in the books, but he isn't here! Muhaha resurrection is a good hobby, you should try it. So yeah you get to see how he 'died' in my version. But not on this chapter, oh no! So many words have been written for your eyes! Such a beautiful gift that I wanted to deliver for Christmas but forgot and died from eating too much Christmas dinner.

STOP BABBLING! *Punches my knee* On with the chapter my little smurf pickle nets! LOVE YOU!

Chapter 22

Myrnins POV

"Gwion" His name left my mouth with a gasp. The disbelief and sadness in my voice made my facial muscles twitch and contort, as if pummelled by a hail of invisible darts. I turned away as I began to pace my lab, utter discomfort running through my bones. I didn't know what to look at, what to say, what to do. I was confused and upset. He was meant to be dead, and yet here he was looking exactly the same as he did when he faded away and died in my arms. Could I be hallucinating? That could be the only diagnosis to this situation unfolding before me. It had happened before, I had lived weeks without noticing that I had killed Ada, her form fluttering around me, loving me and holding me, and it was all in my mind. That had to be the reasonable explanation for this. It had to be.
"You are not here. You are not here. I am seeing things again. You can't b- you're de- you died in my arms!" I cried out, knowing I was only talking to myself.
"Myrnin!" I turned around Gwions voice grasping me out of my incoherent muttering. I closed my eyes and inhaled a breath, a breath I did not need, nor found any comfort in. I felt as though I was being trapped, claustrophobia washing over me, forcing my knees to the ground and a sharp cry escaped my lips as my fangs released from their sheaths, a metallic taste coated my mouth and a burning sensation rippled in my throat. I gulped and gasped like a child losing its favourite belonging. I did not need the hurt or the pain. I'd lost Ada and Claire. I don't need the thought of Gwion returning in my head. It hurt too much.
A hand tentatively touched my shoulder, causing my gaze to reach up and look into his eyes. Gwions eyes. He was here, here with me, he's really. Not in the rubble we named his grave. My brother is back.

The summer of 1834

The breeches seemed more than suitable to such a fine event a black darker than an abyss, matching the tailcoat I wore that was tailored and perfected, the white shirt laying underneath standing out, my skin glowing underneath the fine silk. A bow tie was wrapped around my collar, as red as blood and as shiny too. A red pocket square was folded intricately into the pocket of my tailcoat. Blood and whores is not enough for me, I wanted more. I want experience. I want to learn more. I am forever immortal, I have so much more to learn and I was not going to push away an opportunity as splendid as this. This ball was not something I was seeking to enjoy, but to simply steal some intelligence. I needed everything she had to offer.

Taking out the pocket square from the pocket stitched perfectly onto my coat, I wiped the blood from my lips, dropping the limp body to the floor. She was willing after all; women do fall at my feet; too often I suppose, but one must not say no to blood. The sweetness still tingled between my teeth tickling my fangs with every intake of breath. I moved from behind the alley towards the grand city hall. Beautiful decorations traced each column perfectly, retaining elegance of a young lady. I made my way to the foyer. When a hand was pressed firmly onto my chest, as I was about to inform the doorman he was making a big mistake, a firm hand gripped my shoulder pulling me to one side.
"He is with me young sir" the raspy voice belonged to my older brother.
"Gwion, thank you for saving me" sarcasm dripped from my words, but didn't bother my brother, only tickled him. He replied with a chuckle before pushing me into the ballroom which was as equally decorated, ribbons, roses and luscious candlelit chandeliers draped from the ceiling in a room that could have contained the whole of Wales. I smiled to myself as I thought about the town from where I was brought into the world. The orchestra played beautifully, I was watching partners dancing around the floor, happiness lighting up their eyes, when a girl captured my attention. Her hair was laced upon her head, in a loose crown, her dress flowed gracefully to the floor in a long sweep, in a beautiful deep red, the same colour as her lips. I drifted down the staircase unconsciously to be suddenly met by her gaze.

Adrenaline rushed through my veins. I knew who she was, but I did not know that she would so beautiful, her glistening brown eyes stared into my soul, my blackened soul. I blinked several times, adjusting my focus on her as if she had drugged me with her beauty. I bowed respectively, my hand gently grazing the floor in a graceful flourish. A laugh erupted from her mouth, I smiled in return whilst grasping her hand within mine and placing a feather light kiss along her pale knuckles, a shiver travelled from her hand and through her body, displaying a flush upon her soft sculptured face.
Not a word was spoken as I took her onto the ballroom floor, her left hand in my right, her right hand sitting softly on my shoulder, my left hand resting just above her waist. We danced swiftly, our bodies swishing along the floor, twirls entwining into the dance. Lights danced in the both of our eyes as we pirouetted in perfect synchronisation. Sharp colours from our clothing slashed in the air like knives against the wind, cutting the air into sharp pieces.
"My, you do not test my ability do you?" It was the first time she had spoken. They were both so engaged in the dance, he had not thought to break the spell of silence.
"You're a lady; I do not need to Miss. I should know better than to question if a lady can dance," I laced my words with a flirtatious amusement.
"Charming and well spoken" she answered, "I must say that I am surprised, too many people are well held and rude. You are not. Tell me, why is that?"
"There is no reason, but one fact, I am a gentleman" she giggled at that, and something fluttered deep in my chest, and fire raced through my veins. It was as if someone had lit something within me, a match to wood; a spark. We did not speak after that, we kept on dancing along the floor, until the music changed to one of slow pace. I decided now was the time do what needed to be done.

I was walking in the gardens when I heard a voice, like a wind chime, light and dreamy with a hint of sharpness; she had followed me. I did not turn around until she tapped me lightly on my upper arm. With one smooth whirl we were face to face, too close. She began to breathe heavily her breath tickling my lips. Her eyes were looking into mine, as if they were drawing her in, her gaze flickered to my lips, I licked my lips slowly, and her heart began to beat faster, when a cough erupted from behind her. She suddenly sprang in her step and whirled around to face the person it came from. A tall broad shouldered man, his hair cropped close to his head, a moustache cut short and tight sat above his thin lips, the grooves lining his face began to move as he spoke.
"Ada? Would you like to come inside? We wouldn't want you to be ill from the cold on your birthday now, would we?" With a quick glance at me, he scowled, and then it was gone as soon as it came. He returned his gaze back to Ada.
"I am sorry Papa" she turned around to look at me once again. "I must go," she glanced at the floor timidly. "Pray tell, what is your name?" Her father approached her and took her roughly by the arm, she asked me again, but before I could speak she was too far away. The last thing I wanted to do was call my name out to the audience of people swarming the gardens.
"Have you gotten anything from her?" I jumped on the spot, I was staring after her, not aware of my surroundings, I turned around to be faced with Gwion.
"Brother, we have been here a matter of two hours and yet you seem to think I know her life story. Things like this take time. Were it you to do this, it may take you longer. I know what I am doing" he looked towards me then doubt written in his expression. I shrugged gracefully. "Have you gotten any information?"
"Nothing of importance, I know where they live. But that is not much help, when what we need is probably not there. No one would hide something of such importance in a place they inhabit, it is too obvious. One must be wise to hide something one might be searching for" he sighed at that. "We could do so many things with this grimoire Myrnin. They have it and we need it"

2 months later…

I walked towards her home, as I did frequently lately. Candles lit every room; the windows glinted as if winking at me, inviting me in. I strode towards the columned porch that was always so inviting. As my hand reached for the door it opened before my hand touched the grazed wood. Ada was stood in the doorway, wearing a long white gown that sat tightly against her skin, her dark brown tresses cascading down her back. My eyes looked at her from head to toe, red flashing in and out of them like a light, I licked my lips trying to drive my gaze away from her pultrindinious form as a small amused smile crept on her face. Clearly it was the response she was after.
"Come in," her voice was heavy, as if all the breath was driven out of her. I moved past the threshold and a warm feeling surrounded me. I stood in the foyer, glancing around the walls, glorious paintings of summer landscapes, springs and waterfalls running fresh water onto the rocks, splashing droplets onto the river banks, and ducks nestled into the grass in small groups. Ducklings were swimming along the water splashing water everywhere they went. The paintings stood out with such vibrant colours it was like you were there. I smiled at such a thought.
"I thought you would come," her voice was gentle, soothing and teasing.
"Oh, so you weren't expecting someone else?" I gestured at her chosen clothing. She giggled.
"What I do not understand, is why you are being so secretive. I still do not know your name." Her eyes were boring into his, questions swirling in them.
"I am mysterious. It is what draws you to me is it not?" I teased her with my words.
"One might say so," she replied almost breathlessly. "Are you going to come in, or just stand there admiring my paintings?" It was a rhetorical question, but I answered anyway.
"And where would it be you wish to go?" it was a simple question, but with so many answers. She locked her gaze on mine, as if questioning my actions. I raised my eyebrows. Her eyes looked towards my lips, then back up into my eyes, staring into my very soul. Again, as she always did. It puzzled me, as to how she could do that, one simple look and it was as If she knew my deepest secrets. Maybe she did. Just then, she walked fast almost briskly across the room and threw her arms around my neck, with one quick glance at my lips once again, she licked her own smashed them upon mine. Shock ran through me, a vibration the both of us felt. It was soon gone my lips moving along with hers, my hands finding their way around her, one hand on the back of her neck, one on the small of her back. I had her. She was as close to me as my shadow, we were one in that second. One being.
The kiss deepened into something more, something that brought fire into my body, lighting my hands with burning sensations, ripples of light felt like it was escaping me, rushing from my head to my toes, running from my fingers. She was running out of breath. I pulled our lips apart; we both shared a red flush upon our faces.
We didn't move away from each other, we simply locked gazes, the question and answer both clear in our minds. We knew what we wanted.
I grabbed her again, savagely but gentle, gentle enough so that I did not break her. My lips thrashed into hers, as we moved to the stairs, I threw her back against the long wooden spindles of the banister, and she gasped as her body shook from the impact. It was long forgotten as my tongue licked her lower lip, with her permission my tongue entered her mouth fighting against each other.
I hoisted her up then, and her legs wrapped around my waist. Our mouths still connected, I ran up the stairs, pausing for breath I asked her "Are you sure you want to do this?" I didn't get a reply but a simple nod as she bit her lip. I kissed her again, our bodies fitting together like they were made for each other. I kicked the door open with a little too much force, the door falling from its hinges. We laughed. No time for handyman work.
We banged into furniture as we touched, our hands intertwined as we fell onto the bed. I began to place light kisses along her jawline, as I nibbled her earlobe, her heart began to beat even faster. My lips travelled to her neck, I licked the skin above her jugular vein, the phantom taste of blood in my mouth, I nipped at her skin and pressed my fangs lightly into neck, as she arched her back, I slipped them in. Only a taste, a drop. I pulled them out just as quick as they went in, she looked dazed.
"What was that?" she spoke in a dreamy like daze, "It was sensational, I felt like I was floating, like I was not on this world, but in another, everything was heightened, it was… it was beautiful," I quieted her with a kiss, as we both fell into each other, no regrets, just what we felt, happiness, euphoria and love.

We lay next to each other her small form wrapping around me. We were both breathless, our bodies flushed.
"I know why you will not tell me your name," she spoke for the first time since we had made love, her voice slightly dreamlike. "So it will make it easier for me when you leave," her eyes glistened with tears, but they did not fall.
"That is not why Ada," I spoke. I gripped her face within mine. "It's because once you know what I am; you will not want to know me, if you do not know my name I will be easier to forget, for I am not what you are. I am a monster,"
Her eyes widened in surprise. "Do not tell me that. You are not a monster. I can prove it,"
"How?" I spoke as If I was drowning in a sea of smothering emotions, I didn't want to feel the pain that was buried deep inside me, it was threatening to escape in a tide and take me under its hold. Until she gripped onto me with such conviction, her lips smashing against mine with such a gentleness, her hold on me becoming loose as I took control, I brought her against me, till our bodies could be no closer, then she pulled away.
"Would you kiss me like that if you were a monster?" she smiled like an angel, "You would never hurt me, I know you. Whatever you are it does not matter, you matter, just you, you matter to me"
"Myrnin" I replied stunned, it was like I was hearing myself speak from a distance.
"Pardon?"
"Myrnin," I gulped. "My name is Myrnin," she gasped as she pulled me into her once more, we lost ourselves in each other, until we heard the front door open, and her father call for her.
"Ada?!" we both jumped in surprise, I jumped out of the bed grabbing my clothing and dressing myself with a blinding speed.
"I have to go before he finds me. I am deeply sorry Ada," I pecked her lips lightly as I escaped out her bedroom window. As soon as my feet touched the floor, my brother appeared beside me, as small grin plastered on his face.
"Taking this mission a little too seriously brother?" I grinned in response.
"You know me too well brother. Did you find anything?" I questioned.
"Not much, but her father kept a rather large stash of locations in the library. Maybe some locations he had written on the map of London could be the home of the grimoire. But maybe not, we may have to return. Not that you would refuse that Myrnin," he ruffled my hair playfully as he always did, then we ran into the night.

We began the search as we did every night, we had been to over thirty possible homes of the grimoire, nothing but disease, rats and the homeless living in the wrecks that could hold the most important and desired thing we want. Still with no complaints we entered the buildings rusted metal gates. Glancing at the building it didn't look any different than another, besides the grim black of its surroundings casting a sinister shadow over the dark red brick. We approached the front door when my ankle was caught in a razor sharp grip, I tried to pull my ankle free, it was no use, I was stuck. I set to breaking the tight hold on my ankle, when my brother called my name impatiently, "Myrnin, come on, we have not got all night, quite literally so, its dawn in a few hours," I tried once again to untangle my foot, "For lords sake" he said as he rushed to my side and untangled my foot for me with one single yank.
"Thank you," I said shattering my pride. I staggered into the awning that hung just above the door and the front window. The door knob wasn't too hard to open after a few times of trying, it suddenly snapped with a sharp click. Gwion pushed the door with ease and slipped inside. I followed suit, we was faced with pure darkness. Even my vampire sight couldn't penetrate the heavy ominous black. I heard things moving, light and heavy swifts of movement, I felt Gwions hand grip my shoulder, him letting me know he was there, a sign of reassurance. It didn't help. I didn't fear much being what I am, but this did not seem right. Something cold was running down my face, I reached up and traced it as it dripped down my face; sweat. I didn't sweat unless I was in the sun.
I was puzzled. Nothing happened as we stood there and as we both moved forward, that thought suddenly was lost as something hit us both from behind. We landed flat on our faces, I sprang up suddenly ready to fight anything. My fangs descended ready to puncture anything that came close to me, I could sense my brother doing the same. I smiled with pleasure, red clouding my vision, helping me see through the suffocating darkness. Three or four shapes were moving swiftly through the room, surrounding something. They did not move to come closer. They just stayed dancing around a dark object, a box? I frowned. Nothing happened unless we moved closer, the 4 foot creatures' claws elongating slashing through the air reading to tear anyone who got to the boxes throat out. I took a huge step back and Gwion did the same.
"Who are you?" A sweet and sharp voice echoed and bounced around the walls of the darkened room. "I said who are you? Unless I am talking to myself. Which would be ridiculous if I have lovely intruders to converse with" she laughed after herself.
"We're lost" I said, it was a reasonable answer, not too convincing though.
"What a funny place to be lost. I would have thought my protection spell would have stopped you from entering. I see my whipping razor traps gave your ankle a nasty kiss of bites. Shame, pretty things get hurt all the time" her voice echoed and rang in my ears. No sign of her.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"It is rather funny how your turn questions proposed to you on others. I like that. However who I am does not concern you. Who you are however, concerns me. I am the protector of this place. The more suitable question would be what am I? Well my dear fellows"
"What are you?" I was curious.
"Seeing as I cast spells my guess would be a witch, does that seem possible?" It was then when she stepped out of the shadows. She wasn't a tall form, her golden blonde hair swept long past her shoulders in waves and bounced above her waist; she was dressed in a simple sapphire blue dress. She didn't look capable of holding such powers.
"Not the witch you were expecting I see"
"Not the kind of witch you hear about" Gwion said, a hint of amusement hiding behind his words.
"Well hello handsome," she said whilst crossing the room. "The names Evangeline, Evangeline Rose" she said with a deep curtsey.
"Such a beautiful name for such a beautiful young lady" Gwion said whilst kissing her hand and bowing slightly. She blushed at that and removed her hand.
"As charming as this is, you still haven't told me of your intentions. Now why would you lovely men be here? Obviously you don't want my goblins," she gestured at the four goblins dancing and surrounding the box in the centre of them.
"We want the grimoire," I said, no point in denying it.
"The grimoire?" she questioned. "Who thinks you are going to get it"
"I do," I said.
"Oh my pretty, don't think too high of your abilities to receive it, no one can have it without my blessing. I am the owner of the grimoire, it is mine" I shook my head, hiding the smile. Such a young girl, but such old thinking.
"Then you can give it to us, surely everything in that grimoire you already know?"
"It is not possible. The grimoire contains more information that anyone could contain, did you know that? How could I possibly remember every spell? Rituals and summoning's? It is impossible"
"We are not leaving without it" Gwion replied.
"Then you are not leaving at all. Unless," she spoke, "you take me with you" it wasn't a question it was a demand.
