From Earth to Star Wars: Part Two
Disclaimer: All characters except Meagan, Sasha and a few minor other characters, belong to George Lucas and now Disney and we are not receiving any profit off this work of fiction.
AN: Hey Star Wars fans! We hope and pray you had a good week. We wanted to touch base with everyone about this next sequence as it is featured in the second season of the Clone Wars show. When we originally saw the Holocron Heist sequence, we immediately thought with some changes, it would fit wonderfully into our story. We should note that it is not in the same time line as where it appears in the show, but this was where it fit into our story line, especially with things we have planned for later on. This sequence should be about three chapters. I hope this makes some sense to you and enjoy.
Chapter Eight Two
**Meagan's Point of view**
As we traveled back to the Temple, I pulled up the holonet, half out of curiosity, half out of wanting to find a way to defend ourselves to the Council about the recent publicity. Skimming over the articles and pictures, I scrolled down to the comments section and began reading more thoroughly. I wasn't quite sure if I really wanted to do this, to see what the public really thought about my husband and I, but maybe I needed to do this.
However, overall, I was worrying for nothing. The majority of the comments were supportive and on the Jedi's side of the things. Several of them were quite personal, one woman saying she got mad when her husband never cleaned up after himself, but was going to run home and kiss him, glad he was home with her and the war wasn't tearing apart their love. Another man said he still was divided on the issues of the war, but said he admired the work I was doing and Obi-Wan fighting to protect those he loves.
"Why are you still looking at that?" I heard Obi-Wan come up from behind me, obviously reading over my shoulder.
"Did you read that one?" I pointed out one comment that said she supported the Jedi and that others should also help in whatever way they could to support them and the war efforts. "Most of them are pretty positive."
He looked doubtful. "I still don't like our pictures, our private relationship spread all over the galaxy."
I reached up and patted his cheek. "I know, I don't like it too much either, but Obi-Wan, you and Anakin have been labeled the heroes of this war and so this will happen. "
He turned from the screen, sitting down on the cot. "I'm still not sure if this is a good thing for the Order or not."
I took a minute but switched to another page, finding a poll and discovered the public support of the Jedi had risen, sources sighting the recent influx of love stories about one of the war heroes. "I think it's a good thing as the opinion polls of the Jedi are higher."
Obi-Wan didn't look like he quite agreed with me, but dropped the subject, only calling me over. "Come here."
I shut down the terminal, then rising I joined my husband. He pulled me against him as we sat there in the quiet, not talking, just enjoying some time together. His lips were rather sweetly moving over mine when his comlink went off.
Groaning slightly with frustration, he pulled away, activating the connection. "Yes, Cody."
"There is an incoming scrambled message coming in for you General."
"Very well." Obi-wan sighed quietly. "I'm on my way." He kissed me quickly before leaving the room.
We did make a few stops to rotate a few troops and drop off some supplies and equipment but we did make it back home not too far off schedule. The Council was still a bit upset about the pictures that were still everywhere, but they couldn't really say something against the fact the public seemed to want to support a Jedi who was fighting to protect his family.
During the next few weeks I was posted at the Temple working with Padme, Dede and some others on a benefit with the proceeds going to help the innocent lives affected by the war. Obi-Wan seemed to stay around a while, giving us some time together, but then was shipped out with hardly any notice, then coming back a week later. Sasha was pretty excited that he was home again so soon and was keeping pretty close to him. So one morning I was able to sleep late while he got up with her.
**Obi-Wan's Point of view**
"Mummy or I will pick you up this afternoon." I gave my daughter a hug outside of the clan rooms on my way to the morning Council meeting, letting Meagan take some time for herself.
"Bye Daddy." She stood up on her toes, kissing my lower cheek, giggling as my beard tickled her. "I love you."
"I love you too." With that I let her go, turning her toward the classroom. As the door shut behind her, I turned and started for the Council chambers.
I was about halfway there when Master Yoda found me. I immediately sensed something was wrong.
"Feel a disturbance in the Force, I do." He paused for a long moment, his ears laid back and low, a sure sign trouble was on its way. "Intrudes are coming."
"Intruders?" I asked, absolutely shocked. The Temple was pretty much in lockdown status. How could anyone penetrate our safety shields? Though I knew if Master Yoda sensed it, it would happen and action needed to be taken. "Do you have a plan in mind?"
"Contact Anakin you should." He started out. "Think of what they are after, you should. Put everyone on high alert I will for now."
With that we went our separate ways. Walking swiftly, I pulled out my comlink and was just about to call Anakin when I heard him coming from another hallway.
"What's wrong?" He asked, obviously sensing something was happening. "What's going on?"
"Master Yoda senses the Temple is going to be infiltrated today, but he didn't know who." I paused as I let that sink in. "Now, what could they be after?"
"Well, whoever they are, isn't a friend or they wouldn't be breaking in."
"I think we've agreed on that score." I ran a hand over my beard in thought. "If it was someone the Separatist hired, what would they be after? The majority of our military equipment is not stored here."
"What about our Intel? Dooku could pay someone quite a lot of money to try to steal that from us. They could win the war if they know where all our troops were or any of our battle plans." Anakin's idea seemed to hit on the right thought.
"And that would lead them to the communication center." I agreed and Dooku would more than likely feel that is where we would be keeping and storing our military information. "Let's go."
Anakin and I hurried down the hall toward the lifts as I commed Master Yoda and informed him of our thoughts.
"Most likely right you are." He agreed. "Guard the communications center, Master Windu and I are. Track down our intruders, you and Anakin will. Entered they have."
"Already?" Anakin shook his head. "Where should we start from?"
"We've pulled up our security reports and found where they found a weakness and entered." Master Windu cut in, giving us the exact location. "Start tracking him from there."
"Yes Master." Anakin and I took off and we soon arrived in a far corner of one of the Temple spires. "Well I can see where they cut the hole, but where did he go from here?"
"He wouldn't be able to walk freely around." Anakin theorized. "Maybe the ventilation shafts."
It felt right and there was no other way to get around the Temple without being seen. So Anakin and I were soon descending through the ventilation shafts with our extension cables, trying to follow the scent of our intruder, who I was beginning to feel was a bounty hunter. Whoever he was, he must have been having some sort of outside help as he seemed to know exactly where to go.
"Now what? Where are we?" Anakin asked as we dropped down into the area outside the vaults, deep inside the Temple and the archives.
"The vaults." I told him, not surprised he didn't know. After all, as the Order's top secrets were stored here, only Council members were allowed entry. I myself not having known too much until very recently. "But from where he came in, this would be the only access tunnel to the communications center."
"Look." Anakin looking down the hallway saw that someone had cut a small hole towards the bottom. "We must be close on his tail. If the Masters are in the center, we can corner him."
With that we climbed in and started running through the shaft before beginning to climb upwards. Anakin and I were nearly there, when we felt a disturbance in the force and we could clearly hear the voice of a droid.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I meant to go to maintenance." I couldn't help but take a step back.
"Run, the droid is a bomb." One of the Masters called out, knowing we were close. Anakin and I wasted no time and began to sprint back down the shaft and barely missed the explosion that rocked the tunnel. Luckily, I don't think anything was permanently damaged.
"What now?" Anakin asked as we climbed back down the shaft.
"I'm not sure. The droid was obviously a diversion."
"But then what are they after?" Anakin asked as we eventually joined the Masters, who had captured a changeling that had been recruited to help infiltrate the Temple. Two padawans had been studying in the archives and noticed the Master he was pretending to be wasn't acting like himself, sensed something was off and immediately reported it.
"You won't find Cade Bane now." He said, laughing. "He's after another Jedi, trying to get a kyber crystal."
As some of the other Jedi took him away, Master Windu, Master Yoda and I all looked at each other, knowing that Bane hadn't been after our information but something just as damaging. Acting quickly, we hurried back into the vault and found a holocron was missing.
"What was on it?" Anakin asked, probably not sure what we were so worried about.
"It's the names of all the Force sensitive children in the galaxy." Master Windu explained.
"Grave loss this is." Master Yoda sadly shook his head. "Fooled us, Cade Bane did."
"Then what is the crystal his helper mentioned?" Anakin asked.
"It's in two parts." I explained to Anakin as we started to leave the vaults. "The holocron contains the names and the crystal allows us to access the names."
"Well, where is this crystal?"
"With Master Ropal." Windu said, shaking his head. "Somehow Bane found that out."
Dooku was what we immediately thought, but Master Yoda only said. "Out of contact Master Ropal is. Go to him, young Skywalker you should, track down Bane and the holocron."
"Yes Master." Anakin gave a slight bow as we told him where Master Ropal was last heard from.
After Anakin left, the three of us looked at each other, wondering what this war was coming to.
Much later, after the Council finally stopped debating what we could do about the holocron, I headed back to our quarters, tired from the long day. Sasha was already asleep, but I leaned down to kiss her goodnight, tucking the covers back around her, wondering if my daughter was even safe in the Temple anymore.
"Obi-Wan?" Meagan called quietly from the door.
Sighing, I left my daughter's bedroom, following my wife down the hall.
"What's wrong?" She asked as I sat down on the couch, wanting nothing more than to go to bed and find this to be a bad dream. "Why was the Temple under high alert?"
I might as well go ahead and tell her, she would hear it soon enough. So, while she heated up something for me to eat, I explained it to her.
Meagan looked beyond shocked that someone not only got into the Temple but that children were now in danger. "What are you doing about it?"
"Anakin is going after Bane and the holocron. So in a few days, this should all be over." I didn't go into what could really happen if we lost this battle.
Meagan sighed but didn't say anything as she handed me something warm that smelled wonderful. I completely forgot that I wasn't able to eat lunch until now. Once I finished eating, I set down the plate, and then pulled her into my arms, wondering what I would ever do without her.
"Bye Mummy." I waited patiently as Meagan and Sasha said their goodbyes. It was just the following morning when my wife was called to help with some relief efforts. Thankfully it wasn't completely across the galaxy and since my troops weren't assigned to anything but training and planet security for the time being, I was able to send a squad for her team's protection.
Once they had let go, I leaned over, kissing Meagan. "Be careful."
Meagan only smiled. "I love you too."
I couldn't help but smile at her sarcasm. "Alright Meagan." I reached around Sasha, pulling Meagan close for a hug and another kiss before speaking quietly in her ear. "I'll contact you if I'm going somewhere that looks to be a while, though with the holocron missing, I think I'll be staying here."
She nodded. Then with one last kiss for both of us, she climbed aboard the awaiting transport and we watched her vanish from sight.
I felt Sasha's small hand take a hold of mine. "Come on. Let's get back inside."
Sasha nodded, obviously trying to be brave.
I squeezed her hand. "Mummy shouldn't be gone for long. She'll be back shortly."
Sasha remained quiet, but I could feel she trusted it. Then keeping a hold of her hand, we headed into the Temple. Instead of taking her to her clan, I took her back to our quarters. I could do my work and keep her close at the same time. I could sense she wasn't ready to join her class today and for once with Meagan leaving was going to baby her slightly. Besides, it was quite easy enough to do my work and Sasha could work on her own studies.
Once settled, we had lunch. Usually she took a nap in the early afternoon, but knowing she wouldn't go down easily, I sat in the living room and read her a few stories. By the time I finished the third or maybe it was the fourth, she finally fell asleep. Not wanting to awaken her, I gently arranged her on my lap and then began my work. I read over a few battle reports before turning to study the information we had gathered on Cade Bane. With a sigh, I sat back against the couch, still puzzling over who had hired him. After all a bounty hunter didn't break into the Jedi Tempe unless there was a huge profit in it for them. The person behind the plot was the real villain, the one trying to steal children from their parents and their destiny as Jedi. Hopefully when Anakin returned, with Bane, we would get some answers. This seemed much larger than Count Dooku, but I wouldn't have been surprised if his hand was eventually found in it.
It was just after dinner the following night, when my comlink went off. Recognizing Anakin's signal, I quickly settled Sasha down with her coloring books and headed into another room to answer the call. "Yes Anakin?"
His image looked distressed but he didn't appear to be injured. "Bane got away with the holocron. Master Bolla Ropal is dead."
I felt my heart sink, especially at hearing we had lost yet another Jedi in this war. "Can he read it?"
"Yes." He gave me a quick rundown of the mission, that Bane had tortured Master Ropal, extracting the kyper crystal in order to read it. He went onto to explain the battle that had taken place where Bane managed to escape, taking the readable holocron with him.
"Well." I said after a moment or two of thinking about the situation. "Come on home. We are going to have to find him and the children another way."
"Yes Master." With that we shut down the transmission.
After checking on Sasha, finding her happily coloring I commed Master Windu, updating him about the situation. He was frustrated just as I was that we were no closer than we were before. He said we could discuss this further once Anakin returned and with the full Council. Once the conversation was over, I sat there for several minutes, my mind still going full force, round and round about Cade Bane. Until I noticed how late it was starting to get.
With a slight sigh I walked back into the living area where Sasha sat, still coloring.
"Look Daddy." She held up a picture with her purple bears. "Can we go see one?"
"Maybe." Though, with the war, taking her to the Galactic Zoo might be a bit of a problem. There was no way I wanted the press to even get a glimpse of her. "Come on, it's time for bed."
It was getting late and since she had a bath yesterday and nothing too strenuous was done today, I decided to forget the bath tonight.
"Okay." She put down her crayons and took the hand I offered. Halfway down the hall, she sniffled. "I miss mummy."
"I know you do, so do I." I squeezed the hand I was holding as the other palmed the door to the refresher.
We got her teeth brushed, then headed into her room to change into her night clothes. Then as I was pulling back the covers to her bed she spoke.
"Daddy, can I sleep with you?" She was leaning against me, gazing up at me with big eyes.
"Yes you may." I found myself answering without even thinking about it. "Where's Mr. Teddy?"
She held up her favorite bear, the one she always slept with. I ushered her out of the room and into our bedroom, suddenly thinking. What was I doing? I never encouraged this. I knew Meagan, especially lately, allowed it, but Sasha shouldn't get used to this. But here I was tucking her into bed, right where Meagan normally slept.
"Story?" Sasha pleaded and once again, I couldn't say no.
Of course she fell asleep quickly, even before I finished. Kissing her gently I dosed the light and left the room. Sipping on a cup of tea, I forced myself back to the reports I needed to work on. Finally I rose and shut down the lights. I readied for bed in the near dark, not wanting to wake Sasha. I climbed into bed, next to my peacefully sleeping daughter. I watched her sleep for sometime before succumbing myself, liking the idea that Sasha was safe, sleeping within my sight.
Not two days later, we received the heart wrenching news. A child had been taken, stolen from her parents, her home, a baby younger than mine. It didn't take any imagination to know the horrors of those feelings. The sudden need to not only see Sasha but hold her tight flooded through me. It took a few moments before I could dismiss it into the Force. I suddenly found Master Yoda looking at me. I somehow was able to focus my full attention as we finished making our plans.
Once we were dismissed, I found, as we were leaving the Council room, Master Yoda besides me.
"Distracted you are." There was no accusation in his tone, only concern and maybe a little curiosity.
"I just have a bad feeling about this."
"Meditated on it have you?"
"Yes Master, but I still can't decipher it."
"Reveal things in time the Force sometimes does."
Though knowing it was true, I found it brought little comfort.
"Something else is there?" Master Yoda questioned, always seemingly to know.
I sighed before answering. Maybe voicing some of my concerns and nearly unrealized feelings would help put it together. "I don't know. It's just that the last few days, I've wanted to keep Sasha close to me." I shook my head, still almost not believing my own actions, especially since I almost didn't take her to class this morning.
"Thinking about this case like a father you are." Master Yoda said as we continued to walk through the corridors. "Be thinking like a Jedi you should."
"I know Master, but I just can't seem to shake this off."
"Separate your feelings you must to find the real source of it." He advised.
"Yes Master." Even though I'd been taught that all of my life, it didn't sit too well, but he was right and I should at least try it.
The day wore on with sending Jedi after the missing children including Anakin going to Naboo. We were hoping to catch Cade Bane in the act before he took too many of the children.
"Be safe." I told him as I was sending him off. "I have a bad feeling about all of this. I don't like this with the children being taken."
Anakin watched me for a moment before speaking. "Are you sure you aren't imagining those? You are sounding too much like a parent."
I glared darkly at him. "That is what Master Yoda said."
"See?" He pointed out with a grin. "You have nothing to worry about. Sasha is safe at the Temple." He hopped up into his ship and then gave a little wave. "I'll be back shortly."
I nodded as I watched his ship left, almost wishing I was going with him, just to see if it would help clear my mind. But the feeling I was needed here for the moment rather quickly dispelled it.
And now for the quote, from "The Hobbit", we absolutely loved Peter Jackson's latest endeavor into JRR's work and looking forward to more. It's one of our favorite scenes. Enjoy
Bilbo: Uh, "Terms: cash on delivery, up to but not exceeding one fourteenth total profit, if any." Seems fair. Uh, "Present company shall not be liable for injuries including, but not limited to laceration, evisceration"... "Incineration?"
Bofur: Oh, aye. He'll melt the flesh off your bones in the blink of an eye. [Bilbo starts to look shaky]
Balin: You all right, laddie?
Bilbo: Yeah, I'll be. Feeling a bit faint.
Bofur: Think furnace, with wings.
Bilbo: Yeah, I... I... I need air.
Bofur: Flash of light, searing pain, then poof, you're nothing more than a pile of ash.
Bilbo: Nope. [faints]
Ashokanerd: The main reason why Meagan has never told the Jedi what happened is that during Part One, the Council decided they didn't want to know what an author in another galaxy wrote about them. Of course as time has gone on, Megan also has forgotten what happened in the movies and she never did see Episode III. As for Ashoka's story and what happens at the end of the Clone Wars series, we haven't decided if that sequence will be included or not or if we will change it or not. We are still hammering out ideas and a time line for that part of the story. Thanks again for reading and reviewing, we always appreciate it.
Destiny Xavier16: Yes, Master Windu and the others aren't too happy about all the media attention, however you can't protest too much if it has mostly good results. As for Sasha, we hope you enjoyed her in this chapter and she will be in at least the next two chapters. Though with the war and our characters traveling more, we might not see her as much. Thanks again for your thoughts!
Venator88: The holonet parts were very funny and we enjoyed writing them to lighten things up a bit. There will be more of the media sequences to come and they might play a bigger part during the war. Thanks again for reading our story, we are so glad that you have enjoyed.
Phygmailon: Thanks again for reviewing as we appreciate your thoughts and hope you liked this chapter. Anyway, we are nine to ten months into the Clone Wars and yes with Anakin knighted things can certainly start to get more exciting. The Dark Reaper sequence and others from video games we are not familiar with, so those won't be in our story. As for Ventress capturing Alpha and Obi-Wan, even though we have heard about it and read it in other fan fictions, we debated including it, but decided against it. Though we have something else that more or less replaces it. Ashoka will be entering the story, but since Obi-Wan does have a family, we thought he wouldn't be requesting another padawan. So, she will become Anakin's apprentice in another way and the rest of the movie probably won't make it into the story.
Sharnorasian Empire: Ashoka will definitely make things even more interesting as she enters the story. We are looking forward to adding her to it as well as seeing Sasha's reaction to no longer having her uncle Anakin all to her herself. Thanks again for reading and reviewing! We always appreciate it. We hope you like this next part of our story!
