Chapter Eighty Four

AN: Hey everyone, we are glad ya'll have been enjoying our holocron storyline. This is the final chapter in this line and Ahsoka should be introduced in the next chapter. The rather exciting meeting with her and Meagan will more than likely be in the following chapter. We also wanted to pass on that we have just bought a house! Ya! As exciting as that is, it can also be a very stressful and busy time, so it might not be till late September or October before we can post again. Anyway, we hope you are having a blessed week. Happy reading!

**Obi-Wan's Point of view**

The buzzing of my comlink finally roused me long after dawn. Sasha was still asleep beside me. Getting up, I hurried out of the room and answered it. "Kenobi."

Master Windu's voice came over the connection. "We've already talked to Bane again and he is still not talking. The Council is getting together to discuss our options."

"I'll be there as soon as I can. Sasha is still asleep. I'm not sure I can disturb her, we were up half the night."

Master Windu nodded. "That's fine, but we do expect to see you sometime today." With that the connected tuned out. As I was pocketing the comlink, I saw I had a message from Meagan, saying she was going to be home this afternoon. So, that saved me from having to decide whether to tell her over a comlink that our daughter was nearly kidnapped or not. I figured I would just tell her when she got home.

Heading back to the bedroom, I sat in the corner on the floor, meditating but keeping a close eye on Sasha. It was about an hour later when she began to stir.

"Daddy."

I rose from the floor to sit on the edge of the bed, leaning over to brush her red curls away from her face. "I'm right here." I kissed her cheek gently. "Are you hungry?"

She nodded. "A little." But she didn't move from the bed.

"Come on, Sasha." I gently prodded her. Master Windu had given me some leeway but I still needed to make it in today.

She slowly crawled off the bed and I sighed, it was at least a start. The going was slow as it took some encouragement getting her to eat more than a few bites. I prodded her back to her room to get her dressed. We talked a little on what happened and she seemed to start doing better, but still tired. As I brushed out of her hair, I spoke.

"Daddy has to go the Council meeting, so we are going to take you to your clan."

"No!" Was her immediate reply.

"Sasha, Daddy has a duty to see why someone was trying to take you." I tried to calm her down. "You'll be safe. Can you be my brave little Jedi today?"

Her lower lip was trembling and it tore at my heart, making me want to strangle Bane and see if he wouldn't give us the location of the other children, holocran and the sith who had hired him. "I can Daddy."

I leaned down and kissed her cheek. "That's my girl. We should get going."

"Wait Daddy." She said as I set her on her own feet. "I need Mr. Teddy."

I opened my mouth to protest but she was already down the hall, and after what happened yesterday I wasn't going to stop her. So, I followed her to her room where she was putting a few of her favorite coloring books and books into a small backpack. I found a box of crayons and helped her close the bag. The crèche of course had all these things but maybe something of her own would make her feel better. She picked up Mr. Teddy, clutching him to her chest. "Okay, I'm ready."

We walked quietly down the hall, hand in hand. The Temple was fairly busy and I could hear the whispers of everyone discussing the latest break in. When we arrived, Sasha clung to my hand as Bant stepped out of the classrooms.

"Hi Sasha." She said smiling, trying to ease my daughter's sudden unease. "We are just about to start story time. You like that."

She didn't move a muscle, only staring back at her before looking up at me.

I knelt down. "Now Sasha, you said you were okay with going."

"I….I…..Sasha changed her mind." Tears forming in her eyes, she turned and clung tightly to me.

"Sasha, you're going to be just fine. Bant will look after you." I tried to pull her away but her grip was surprisingly strong. "Come on Sasha, let go please."

"NO!" Her grip on my tunics only tightened and I could feel how scared she was. Of course, I couldn't blame her after what she went through. She was a Jedi, but as my wife would remind me, she was still just a little girl.

Bant had knelt down, trying to reach her. "It will be okay Sasha, nothing will happen to you and your daddy can even call down here when he can to talk to you."

Sasha finally turned toward Bant and her grip loosened just a bit too where I was able to pry her off. "Can you?"

Once she was assured, Bant took her hand and took a slow step back to the door while I took a slow step away. Sasha seemed to be doing better. "I will contact you later and get you this afternoon, I promise."

She nodded, trying to be brave. My heart heavy within, I turned and made it only a few feet before her anguished cry tugged my resolve down. "Daddy."

I turned to find her running towards me, wrapping her arms around my leg. Sighing I bent down to try to dislodge her, but she clung all the more tighter, crying. I glanced toward Bant, hoping for an idea but she just shook her head.

"Obi-Wan, she's not letting you go anywhere." She shrugged slightly. "Maybe it will be better just to take her with you. "

I raised an eyebrow as I rubbed my daughter's back comfortingly. "To the Council meeting?"

Bant gave a slight smile before heading back into the room. "Well, what choice do you have?"

"Sasha." I started out. "If I take you with me, will you be a good girl and stay quiet?"

She finally looked up, her eyes a bit red from crying. "I'll be good, I promise. I just want to stay with you."

I hugged her close, finally prying her from my leg. "It's going to be okay. Daddy's here."

She finally quieted enough and once her tears and face were dry, we headed toward the Council rooms and I could only hope, I wasn't about to get into too much trouble.

As I arrived, several of the Council members, were standing outside the chambers, discussing the issue.

"There you are Kenobi." Master Windu looked like he was going to say something else but all of their eyes dropped to my daughter who had one hand in mine, the other arm curved tightly around her teddy bear.

"I'm sorry I'm late, but I've had some trouble." I said though I had a feeling it was quite unnecessary.

He raised an eyebrow. "I can see that."

"Meagan will be back this afternoon and will take her." I assured him.

Master Adi Galliar said, obviously concerned. "Did you tell her?"

I shook my head. "I thought it would be better to do it in person. She won't be happy about it."

She nodded as I led Sasha over to the bench outside the chambers and since I told her I would be standing within her sight, she obeyed me. I pulled out a few books hoping to occupy her.

As the Masters and I discussed mind controlling Bane, I noticed Sasha was opening a book but kept a close eye on me. It was at least a start. As we were still discussing a few ideas, my comlink started blinking. Stepping a few feet away, I activated it.

"I'm sorry to disturb you Master, but I have an idea getting Bane to tell us what he knows." Anakin's voice came over the connection.

Master Windu drew closer over and indicated Anakin to join us. "Anakin, we were just discussing that, so if you could just join us outside the Council chambers."

"Be right there Masters."

We waited for a few moments before he came around the corner and I stepped forward to greet him. "So Anakin, what is your idea?"

"We all know the sith is the ultimate one behind the plot." He started out.

"Yes, we know." Ki-Adi Mundi put in. "That's the problem. We can't scare Bane any more than the Sith Lord that hired him can, except for mind controlling him."

"Actually there is." Anakin glanced over to Sasha then back to the Masters. "One thing I do remember from elementary biology is that the mother of most species, being or animal, tends to become angry when it's young is threatened, some to the point of killing."

The Masters, all except Master Yoda maybe, looked at him questionably, but I immediately got where he was going with this.

"Anakin, no, I'm not sending Meagan to interrogate him."

"Well, you know how upset and angry she will be once you tell her. I'd give her five minutes in there with him before he is screaming out the truth." Anakin paused as we all thought the idea had merit. "And except all of us using mind control on him, which we don't really want to do, what other choice do we have?"

"Right Skywalker is. " Master Yoda put in. "At least try it we should."

"I'll go in there with her." Master Windu put in and held up a hand at my protest. "We will need someone stable to control the situation."

"I'll be in the outer room. You may need my help as she's liable to claw Bane's eyes out." I put in, not wanting to leave my wife with a bounty hunter.

"Very well." The masters approved the plan and I would contact Windu once Meagan arrived.

We dismissed Anakin and the rest of us went into the Council chambers to meet up with some of the other Council members off planet to help coordinate some of the battles. I quickly collected Sasha's things and she followed us into the room. I sat down in my chair, directing Sasha to the floor besides me. As the meeting started and we talked about troop rotations and supply lines, I saw my daughter laying on the floor, a crayon in one hand, Mr. Teddy in the other.

Sometime later as we finished discussing a topic, Master Yoda nodded toward my daughter. "Tired she was."

I glanced down and saw the crayon had fallen from Sasha's hand, her head pillowed on Mr. Teddy, she was fast asleep. I smiled, glad she was comfortable enough to get some rest. "She was up half the night."

"In time, fine she will be." Master Yoda put in as we started discussing some other issues.

Later in the afternoon, as we finished eating, my comlink starting blinking, Meagan messaging me, telling us she was landing and would be back to the Temple shortly.

"Finish up your juice." I told my daughter. "So we can go get mummy."

Her entire face lit up as she gulped the rest of her cup. "Ya. Mummy's back. "

As Sasha and I left the cafeteria, I contacted Anakin, who said he would meet us at the Temple entrance and Master Windu who would be at the holding cells. As we walked along, I briefly thought about what I was going to tell Meagan, but the second Sasha saw her mother she let go of my hand and ran straight to her, telling her all about it.

Meagan looked over Sasha's shoulder, her eyes wide and at my nod that it did happen, they closed to angry gilts. I swear half the Temple could feel her temper mount. Once she handed Sasha over to Anakin, she turned to me as I pulled her to me. "Where is Bane? I'll kill him myself."

"In our holding cells." I paused before exchanging looks with Anakin. "Actually he has refused to talk and we haven't been able to crack him."

"And we thought if we turned you loose on him, he might just talk." Anakin grinned as he bounced Sasha on his hip.

"You mean," a wild grin spread across her face. "I can go in there and scratch his eyes out so he'll talk? Tell you where the other kids are and maybe who he is working for? "

"That's about it." Anakin said as we headed toward the lower levels to where the detention cells where.

"Master Windu will be in there with you and I'll be on the other side of the mirror. " I stopped and motioned to Anakin to step away as I pulled Meagan close. "Are you okay with this? You don't have to face him if you don't want to."

I could feel her entire body shaking. "Why are they after our baby? Can't they just leave our family alone?"

"I don't know honey, but we are doing everything we can to keep her safe."

I felt her nod as she pulled away. "Can I kill him?"

"You know you can't, but you won't find me complaining if you tear his eyes out." I told her, hoping she wouldn't actually kill him.

"Good." She seemed entirely too pleased with that. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.

When we arrived, Anakin kept Sasha with him a little further back enticing her with a story as the rest of us stepped through the door and watched Bane sit in his cell. I squeezed Meagan's hand before Windu led her out and into the room.

**Meagan's point of view**

Walking around to enter the room, I took a deep breath and prepared myself. There were other mothers terrified just as I was at the thought of our baby's been taken from us. I needed to get the Jedi the answers so those children could go home too. I had calmed myself down but once I saw that bounty hunter sitting there, bold and arrogant, not even thinking he had done something wrong, incensed me.

"And who is this?" He asked staring at me. "You elite Jedi Masters couldn't get me to talk, why should this little lady?"

That was it, I flew across the room. "Who the hell hired you to take my baby?" Bane rose but not quick enough as I pushed him hard against the wall. "Start talking, Bane before I decide to get violent."

The bounty hunter actually had the nerve to laugh, right in my face. Not being able to take it, I slapped the smirk right off it. "I don't want to have to ask you again, I want the name of the monster that hired you to take my daughter."

He tried to move, but using the Force as well as an arm, I held him against the wall. "You won't hurt me. I'm not talking."

With my other hand I dug my fingers into his face, stepping right close to him, and in a very cold dark tone, I spoke again. "I personally killed the last bounty hunter that came after my daughter. He didn't even touch her, you don't know what I want to do with you."

Bane eyed me before speaking again, as if he was calculating if I would actually do it or not. "I still don't think you have it in you."

I took a step away, enough where he was out of my grip and it gave me just enough space to bring my fist across his face. Taken totally by surprise, he fell to the floor. Taking complete advantage of the situation, I pulled out a dagger Obi-Wan had been making me carry and knelt down.

I placed the dagger on his neck, pressing it a bit, enough to start to draw a little blood. "Now Bane, start talking before I slowly bled you."

"Alright, I'll tell you everything I know." He glanced over my shoulder to where Master Windu must have been standing. "Just get her away from me."

Master Windu stepped up, reaching down and pulled me up and spoke calmly. "Tell me who hired you, where the holocron is and where the two children you did manage to steal are or I might just let her do what she wants."

Bane breathing heavy eyed me as I fought against Master Windu, blood trickling down his neck. I still really wanted to take him piece by piece. "Alright, the sith's name is Darth Sideous. He contacted me through another bounty hunter, who I think he already killed, so you won't find him. I couldn't trace the signal so I have no idea where he is. He always wore a hood, so I couldn't see his face. I have the holocron hidden, he let me keep it and I'll have to show you where it is, only I can find it. The rest of the children are on Mustafar."

Master Windu nodded. "Very well Bane, we will go get the holocron as soon as arrangements are made." With that the Master led me from the room. "Good job Meagan."

I nodded, my anger having calmed a bit after having something productive to do with it. Obi-Wan came from the other door and slipped an arm around me.

"So where do we go from here?" He asked as I leaned against him.

"Anakin should be able to go to Mustafar with a few troops to rescue the children while Ki-Adi Mundi and I take Bane to get the holocron. Once that is done hopefully we can turn what learned about the Sith into something useful."

With that he nodded to us and left, leaving Obi-Wan and I standing there alone. "Come on Meagan, let's get Sasha and go home."

And I couldn't have agreed with him more.

**Obi-Wan's point of view**

Masters Windu and Ki-Mundi took Bane with them to retrieve the holocron. They reported back that it hadn't been copied and was completely intact. However, Bane pulled one his tricks and managed to escape. It was very frustrating to say the least that he had managed to avoid capture when Meagan and I both wanted to press charges for the attempted kidnapping of our daughter. We were both working on letting it go, but at times it was extremely difficult.

Anakin and his troops, however, had a completely successful mission and retrieved the children from the volcanic planet, destroying the complex the sith was using. The sith was nowhere in the area. Anakin returned the children to their parents before returning home.

After several days of being quite clingy to either Meagan or I, with some meditating and talking about what happened, Sasha was soon back to her more normal self. I was quite proud of her for being able to move beyond nearly being taken, not to say she didn't have an occasional nightmare, but for the most part she was just as active as she had been before. Though I could see her becoming more determined to learn the ways of the Force, as if she wanted to make sure she could handle herself if something like this happened again.

The Council had discussed that since the Sith had tried something so bold with Cade Bane's abilities, would he try again? He was obviously determined to take my daughter and turn her into a sith, and had been finding ways to try to get her away from the Jedi. He had failed twice now. This would certainly not be the last, but now that we knew how he gotten into the Temple, it would be fool hardy for him to try the same thing again. And everything we had learned about this Sith was that he was smart, crafty, persistent, and patient, all dangerous traits for our enemy to have. He would try something else, maybe not tomorrow or even a week or a month from now, but sometime and we would have to be ready. But at least for now she was safe.

"Daddy?" Her voice broke into my thoughts as she climbed into my lap. "Can you tell me a story?"

I could tell she had just had her bath, the ends of the endless curls, still damp and she was in her night clothes. "What story do you want to hear?"

She pondered that for a moment before speaking again. "When you were a padawan?"

I thought about which story as I settled back into the chair, Sasha snuggling against me. "Let's see here…"

I was only about halfway through when she grew heavier and I noticed she was already asleep. Rising slowly and carefully, I walked down the hall and tucked her into her bed. I tucked the blankets around her, well knowing she was just going to kick them off later. Pushing back the red curls, I leaned down and kissed her soft cheek, vowing I would always be there to protect her.

And now for the quote: From one of our favorites, quite surprised we haven't used this before, from Clue with Tim Curry. It's a bit longer, but you really couldn't cut it!

Professor Plum: "Look, the body is gone."

Mrs. Peacock: "What are you staring at?"

Mr. Green: "Nothing."

Mrs. Peacock. "Who is there?"

Colonel Mustard: "Nobody."

Mrs. Peacock. "What do you mean nobody?"

Wodsworth: "Nobody. No body. That's what we mean. Mr. Body body's gone."

Mrs. White: "Maybe he wasn't dead."

Professor Plum. "He was."

The Song Bird still sings: Thank you. We are glad that you have found and enjoyed our story. We have plenty of exciting things ahead including bringing in Ahsoka, a wedding and some other fun things we aren't able to reveal as yet! We hope you liked this chapter.

Fraulein Lissy: We are so pleased that you have enjoyed our story enough to read both parts straight through! That's a lot of reading. North by Northwest is a good movie, especially that scene! It has been fun to write a story where Obi-Wan has a wife and child and where a few simple rules can change things. Meagan and Sasha have been great characters to create to make them fit well around Obi-Wan. Meagan may remember some things at some point and realize she was stupid, but sometimes when you set about deliberately changing something you can actually make it worse. As for Sasha's fate, it will be revealed before the end of the story. Thanks again!

Dimonah Tralon: It's good to hear from you again and hope you had a good time rereading everything. After watching the episodes on tv, the idea was for Sasha to be nearly taken, to show that the Sith are still after her but never to get her out of the Temple. But we did think the readers would really wonder if Obi-Wan was going crazy or if his paternal instincts were telling him something. And we are glad he listened to them! Thanks again.

Guest: We are glad you are reading our story. We probably did put Obi-Wan onto the Council a bit sooner than some others do, but we think it fit well with the plans we have for our story. Thanks again and we hope to hear from you soon.

Venator88: Obi-Wan really learned his lesson that his Jedi instincts can be different than his paternal instincts and will definitely not ignore them in the future. And everyone else I don't think will either! Thanks again for reading our story and for your thoughts about it.

ahsokanerd: There was certainly some more action in that last chapter than some of the others, but we try to keep everything balanced. It has been sometimes quite a challenge to balance Obi-Wan's strong sense of Jedi duty to the feelings he has for his family. Though his love for his wife and daughter comes out stronger sometimes. It was interesting to write these episodes without Ahsoka but it wasn't bad as Master Ropal ended up just giving in to the torture so Bane could read the holocron and Meagan, being a protective momma, got the info from him. We are really looking forward to bringing in Ahsoka and seeing her get on with Meagan and Sasha. Thanks again for your comments. We always enjoy hearing from you.

Sharnorasian Empire: We hope your search is going well for you! Have you found any good stories yet?
