Chapter Ninety-Six

**Meagan's point of View**

I slowly awoke, still dreaming about snow filled mountain peaks, cool air, beautiful fields of lupine flowers, a feeling of calm peacefulness came over me. It was such a nice dream, one I hoped would come true someday. But yet as I heard Obi-Wan and Sasha's voices filtering through, I could find some moments of peace and happiness despite the war, not let everyone who died, die in vain.

Rising from the bed, slipping on a robe, I headed into the living room to find Obi-Wan and Sasha sitting in the living area, facing each other as several objects floated around them. I watched, amazed at the development of my daughter's talents even though she was rather young. But it was good to see Obi-Wan, despite how busy he was with the Council and the war, spending time guiding his daughter in the ways of the Force.

After several long moments, I went into the kitchen and began to find something for our breakfast, knowing they had not yet eaten. Thankfully nothing interrupted us and my family had a normal meal together before we went our separate ways for most of the day.

For the next while, I stayed on Coruscant, helping with relief efforts at home, helping prepare for it without leaving the planet. Obi-Wan meanwhile did leave on some rather dangerous missions and battles that kept me awake many nights, but thankfully he came through them with only a few scrapes and bruises. He also had a very interesting meeting with the pirate Hondo and they ended up helping each other when taking on General Grievous who escaped capture once again.

I also heard Palpatine was working on modifying the Republic Constitution again, having already altered it several times since the Clone Wars began. The Jedi Council was obviously not pleased with this situation but there was little they could do about it. Obi-Wan had never really liked politicians with a few exceptions, but now with all the changes in the Senate, the dislike was certainly not going away.

With everything going on, it seemed, once again, like the war would go on forever. I couldn't help but wonder- if this ever ended would there be anything left of the Republic?

**Sasha's Point of View**

Every day the masters let us play in the gardens and I had always enjoyed it. After some group lessons, they let us do what we wanted. I called one of the balls to me, then went away. It would sing if you turned it right, but I can't get it to work.

"Do you want me to show you?" A boy stood behind me, older than me, one I did not know.

I stared at him, dropping the toy to the ground, before nodding. "I am Sasha Kenobi."

"Yes I know." He smiled. "My name is Skyler Damon."

I watched as he raised his hand, calling the ball to him, twirling it in the air, it singing its song. "Now you have to feel your way through it, because it will sing differently for everyone. You should try it again."

I held out my hand, calling the ball was easy, as easy as taking a breath. I closed my eyes, feeling the Force, the trees, the water, the ball. I turned it, spinning it several ways. The ball did not sing. Stretching out, I felt for the ball, sensing it, feeling it, trying to become one with it. Frustratingly it never sang.

I tossed the ball away. "Are you sure this works?"

"Yes." He tried not to laugh as he called the ball back to him. "Do or do not, there is no try."

I raised an eyebrow, having heard it before. I called the ball to me again, wanting to hear its song.

Finally, after several more tries, the ball sang its merry little song and I rejoiced in hearing it.

"Well done." He said, smiling.

"Thank you." I inclined my head.

"You are welcome." He sat down on the rocks. "How long do you have till you go back to the crèche?"

I shrugged. "They will call us."

He nodded. "Shall we?" He indicated the creek in front of us.

I grinned as we took off our boots and waded in, before running toward the waterfalls, water spraying around us, scrambling through the rocks, laughing all the way.

We stopped, climbing up the rocks before sitting on one. He was 7 and loved the saber training classes. I couldn't wait till I was older and could take them.

"You will learn soon enough." He laughed as the bell rang.

"I gotta go." I hopped off the rock, climbing down.

Finding my shoes, I put them on, before finding my clan. I couldn't wait till Mummy picked me up and I could tell her and Daddy what I did today and that I met a new friend.

**Meagan's Point of View**

After I picked up Sasha, we made our way through the halls of the Temple. Along the way, she told me about her day.

"I met a new friend." I couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm. "His name is Skyler and he is 7."

I held back the laugh at 4, nearly 5 years old, the age of seven, would seem so mature. "Are you going to play with him again?"

"I hope so." She said, smiling. "If he's back in the gardens again."

She suddenly looked disappointed. "Honey, he's not that much older than you are. In just a couple years, you will be seeing him in the gyms and such."

"That's such a long way away." She whined but knew to children at her age it would seem like an eternity.

In order to distract her, I tugged on her hand. "Why don't you help me with dinner? You can help me decide what we can cook."

"I can do that Mummy." Thankfully it worked and we started discussing dinner.

The next couple days passed by quickly and our family managed to spend some time together before battles began to occur again. Obi-Wan was going to be sent to aide another Jedi while I was going to provide aid on another planet, though the planet was relatively close to where he would be, in comparison to being all the way across the galaxy from each other.

Ironically, it turned out we would be leaving the same morning. So the evening before we spent a good amount of time making sure we were ready to leave, though took turns playing with Sasha. She was more than used to our travels but still wasn't quite pleased with it but thought it might give her time with her new friend. Once our daughter was in bed, Obi-Wan and I were finished packing and managed to spend some time talking together before engaging in other more enjoyable activities. Eventually, knowing we both needed the rest, we soon fell asleep.

The next morning, after eating breakfast, we made our goodbyes to Sasha before taking her to the crèche for the time that at least one of us would be gone. Obi-Wan saw me off before heading back inside the Temple as he would be leaving after the Council meeting. As we were going to be relatively close by, I was hoping instead of taking the normal transport back, Obi-Wan could pick me up and take me home. But with this war, I wasn't sure if that would work out or not.

Anyway, after an uneventful flight, which I was very grateful for, I spent the next couple weeks disturbing medical supplies, and food stores as well as ascertaining the needs to the planet. Thankfully homes and lands were not destroyed, only blockaded. As Gragner relied greatly in some aspects on trade, they were sorely needing things. Obi-Wan and I managed to maintain some contact, so I knew he was at the very least relatively unharmed but knew he also had been under some heavy fire.

Unfortunately, even if Obi-Wan distracted the Separatists in the area, they didn't seem to like the fact the Republic had given Gragner aide and sent a fresh army of droids to attack. We all hid in cellars, in caves, anywhere to avoid the bombs. At the first sign of trouble, I sent a message to both the Temple and Obi-Wan in hopes they would send someone to help us. I only had a few troops with me to help protect a small planet with thousands.

I had been working my way around, helping people get to safer locations when I felt a darkness come over me, a trickling in my spine. The Separatists had landed, led by Asajj Ventress.

"Run my lady." The few clones with me insisted. "We will hold her off. You must hide."

I protested but knew deep down they were right. If captured, Ventress would take me straight to Dooku or worse yet, the Sith Master. Knowing the one thing they wanted most was my daughter Sasha and maybe if they got me, could somehow get to her, caused me to obey and run.

I managed to hide for only a little while but I could hear the volley of firepower, informing me the Republic arrived. Thankfully, I clearly felt Obi-Wan was near. I took no time in telling him what kind of danger I was in, if he hadn't already figured it out.

"Do not do anything." He told me. "Do not engage her. I will be there soon."

I honestly tried to do as he said but unfortunately Ventress found me first.

"Well, well, well, Kenobi." She sneered at me as we faced each other again, the last time being much earlier in the war. "We finally meet again."

I knew the blaster in my hands and the dagger in my boot would not be my savior for the second time as she ignited her blades. "Yes we do but this time you will not get away."

"You owe me Kenobi." She said, slowly stepping forward, making me unsure of what her next move would be. "I will not allow you to best me again."

I stared at her, unsure of my next move, knowing running would not help. Of course calling her lightsabers would not work either or for very long. But yet, I knew I could not surrender. I only had to bide for time till reinforcements arrived.

"I don't think I am really that important to your cause." I hedged, trying to think of something, anything that might distract her from taking me captive.

She laughed, her voice dark. "My Master says you are. Though I have no idea why. You seem to have no talent."

"I must have some talent to escape from you." I volleyed back, hoping Obi-Wan would hurry, but did not add that my daughter must have been behind the Sith's reasons of wanting to capture me.

She growled deeply and darkly, making me realize I might have pushed her a bit too far. "I am only sorry he wants you alive or I would kill you now."

"I have a good record of escaping tight spots." I hedged again, hoping my husband and his troops were really as close as they were beginning to feel. "Not as good as yours of course."

"Enough talk Kenobi." She growled at me, telling me I was out of time. "Let's see if you fight as well as your husband."

I glanced around, eyeing some stacked boxes to my right. Ventress began advancing, a menacing look in her eyes. The sound of ships approaching filled the air, firing at the droids, giving me hope I would survive this battle.

I dove toward the boxes, wanting to use them to maybe not stop the Sith accolade but at least slow her down. Maybe I would get lucky a second time. Reaching into the Force, I managed to throw a couple small ones towards her. It was enough of a disturbance for her that it gave me a chance to run. If I could make it to the buildings in front of me, it might just level the field of play.

"You can't outrun me." I could hear her behind me, advancing quickly.

I looked frantically around, hoping to find something I could defend myself with. I threw a few shots from the blaster over my shoulder, but she easily deflected them.

"Hang on Meagan." I heard my husband clearly, as if he was standing next to me. I glanced up, seeing him drop from the transport passing overhead.

Ventress stopped, watching my husband.

"Hello there." Obi-Wan said, almost casually, I could almost see the sarcastic smile.

"Hello Kenobi." She sneered. "It's almost too bad, I was having fun with your wife."

I ducked into an alcove outside a building, carefully peaking back around to watch the two fight. Obi-Wan rather skillfully managed her backwards, away from me. As they disappeared around a corner, I desperately wanted to follow them, but thought better of it. I didn't need to be a distraction for my husband.

"Meagan." A moment later my comlink went off and I sighed in relief at the sound of Anakin's voice. "Do you need any assistance?"

I glanced upwards and saw several Republic warships appearing above me. "That would be appreciated."

"See you soon." Anakin chuckled before the connection tuned out.

Apparently with my husband and Anakin's forces, Ventress decided to have her troops pull out and it was soon over.

"Are you alright?" Obi-Wan asked me as he came back, looking very much in one piece.

"I'm fine." I nearly blew off his question. "Did you get her?"

He shook his head frustrated. "No, she escaped once again."

Before I could ask about it, Obi-Wan gave me a look. "I clearly remember telling you to stay away from Ventress."

I winced slightly. "I was planning on it, but she didn't give me a choice. She came after me."

"Very well." He didn't sound very happy about it, but quickly took my hand before checking in with the men.

Obi-Wan kept me close to him or under guard until it was clear the danger was passed and the Separatist were cleared from the sector. Once it was safe, I started to check on the people, to check for causalities. Thankfully they weren't too many and while Anakin and Ahsoka patrolled around the planet, Obi-Wan, along with some troops stayed behind to help with the cleanup and finished distributing the supplies. He said he stayed because I was always getting into trouble and wanted to make sure I didn't fall into it again. Though I think he really wanted to make sure Ventress didn't come back for me, but I was glad he stayed with me. Though most of the days we were sometimes able to work together, we really had no time alone. At least we knew the other was safe, especially after the whole Hardeen thing and now these latest battles.

Once it was clear our work was done, Obi-Wan sent the troops ahead to the nearest base, to join where Anakin and Ahsoka were headed as well. We made our goodbyes to the leaders of the planet who were very thankful of not only the Army driving the droids away but the needed supplies to see their people through the next weeks, until trading could be established again.

As Obi-Wan and I walked into a hanger, I couldn't help but ask him. "Um, honey, with the men gone, how are we getting back to the Sassy?"

"I saved your life only a couple days ago and you still don't trust me?" He tried to look very affronted but a twinkle in his eyes gave him away.

Deciding to play along, I couldn't help but make a counter move. "This was some rescue. You came in here, but didn't have a way out."

Obi-Wan grinned at me before ushering me through a door to find a small ship. "Your chariot awaits my lady. I always have a plan."

"We'll see about it first." I said as we loaded our gear into the ship. Once we were ready to go and cleared by the flight tower, we took off into open space. He set a course for the base and settled into hyperspace.

Obi-Wan and I were finally alone after a couple weeks of being apart and it felt good to be alone together. However it didn't last long as we suddenly fell out of hyperspace.

"What's wrong?" I asked as Obi-Wan sat down in the cockpit and several panels were blaring loudly.

My husband spouted off several technical names and terms and I nearly glared at him. "Translation?"

"We are not going anywhere until it gets fixed." He gave me a bit of a grin.

"So what's the plan?" I wondered where we were and what we could do about it.

"Land somewhere close by and either have someone repair it or call for help and someone would come and pick us up."

Neither sounded too appealing but the first order of business was to get out of the middle of nowhere. Which, I noticed, Obi-Wan was already working on.

"Arnasas." He pointed on the map. "It's not too far, I think we should be able to get there. It's not under Separatist control and mostly humanoid. I think we could land, have it repaired and be back to the base only slightly behind schedule."

Despite our joking from earlier, I trusted my husband's judgement completely. He would never put me into danger, not if he could help it. "I trust you."

He gently kissed me. "I know you do."

It took a little time to get there but we managed to make it safely and we were allowed to land, which came as quite a relief. Though I didn't think they wanted anything to do with us or the war.

"Well, it looks like we are going to be stuck here." Obi-Wan agreed with me, though my thoughts were left unspoken. "Hopefully someone here can fix this as I don't believe they would appreciate a large cruiser coming in here. It may have to be a small ship if they don't have the parts we need."

I sighed, having mixed feelings about this. Obi-Wan was trying to keep us safe and to the closet base but apparently it wasn't meant to be. But we'd been in this smaller ship for a while and I was more than ready to stretch my legs.

"Grab your things and any staples we have left. I'm sure we can find somewhere to hold up for a few days." Obi-Wan said as he began shutting the ship down.

Doing as he said, I headed to the gallery, well, more like a few shelves in a tiny hallway. I found a survival kit and started throwing a few bottles of water and ration bars into it. Maybe I could talk him into eating some real food or find a place with a kitchen where I could cook.

"Put this on." Obi-Wan handed me his larger cloak. "It will hide your features much better. I don't want us to be recognized by too many people." He continued back to the cockpit before turning to me again. "Make sure your hair is pulled back. That red head of yours is a dead giveaway."

They were good ideas for our safety, but did he really have to go ordering me around like a Padawan? "Yes Master."

I watched as he walked away, shaking my head, wondering if he even heard what I said, so intent on the war outside this ship. Sighing, I let my hair down before beginning to braid it, thinking it was the easiest way to hide it.

"Meagan, let's go." A moment or so later he came back, a small bag over his shoulder, his robes covering most of his face before I even finished doing my hair.

"One more minute." I told him, trying to finger out some more tangles. "This isn't as easy as it looks."

I couldn't tell if he was upset or not as he leaned against the counter, watching me, arms folded across his chest. "Do you have the credits?"

"In my bag." I told him. "It should be enough to cover any expenses for the next few days. Are we going to be able to use them?"

"I believe so. We are not too out of the way where they wouldn't be trading with other planets that use Republic credits and I can have some wired too if needed." He assured me as I finished my hair. It wasn't the best braid I'd ever done, but it would work. Slipping the robe on, I vanished inside it. Grabbing my bag, I followed my husband off the ship.

The town wasn't really small, but wasn't too large either. It was a good size where we could get around easily, but yet could nearly vanish into. Being a nice warm day with the sun shining, lots of people were out and about, so Obi-Wan and I made our way around without anyone noticing us at all. After some looking around, Obi-Wan found a dealer who would be able to get the parts we needed as well as complete the repairs, but it would take several days at the least. We weren't exactly happy about it but at least we were safe and able to get it done without causing too much of a stir. Once business was concluded we found and settled into a room in a hotel that had a restaurant and a small store. Being that we hadn't eaten since this morning, while Obi-Wan finished sorting the details of us staying there, I headed into the café and got us something to eat.

"What is that?" Obi-Wan nearly whispered as we made our way along the hallway to our room. "Where did you get it?"

"The café and I have no idea what it is, but it smells wonderful and it's not a ration bar."

"Fair enough." Obi-Wan chuckled as he unlocked the door and let us into the room.

It was rather nice, though not very big, but it would work. I dropped the bag I was holding onto the floor and set the food box on the small table. Not being able to help myself, I threw myself onto the bed, giggling.

"Meagan, what are you doing?" Obi-Wan shut the door closed behind him, setting his bag neatly in a corner before taking off his robe.

I giggled again. "It's a real, big soft bed."

"Don't get too used to it. We shouldn't be here longer than a week." Obi-Wan opened the box the waiter had given me. "We might as well eat."

We sat down and ate the meal, both enjoying hot food for the first time in a couple days. After that he stretched out and meditated as I took a long hot shower, certainly enjoying it. The unit was small, but yet there was an almost Jacuzzi like tub, which if I hadn't needed to wash my hair, would have lounged in there for quite a while. By the time I finished dressing for bed, Obi-Wan already changed out of his clothes and was lying on the bed, his hands behind his head, making my breath catch slightly at his very well defined male body.

"I'll contact the Council in the morning and let them know what's going on." He said, sensing I had entered the room, forcing my attention to his words. "We will be able to keep in contact and make sure we aren't about to get overrun."

I pulled back the covers, tugging on his side until he sat up, allowing me to slide them back. "It's not that bad. Besides this gives us a chance to rest. I need a good night's sleep….." I paused, wondering if I had slept much since he went undercover as Harden or maybe since this war first began.

But before I could continue, he gazed tenderly at me, having deduced long ago that I didn't sleep or sleep much while he was in battle. "Come here."

I slid into the bed, the covers cold, but comfortable. Obi-Wan reached over and pulled me gently to him, his chest pressing against my back, legs curling protectively around mine. "Sleep well my love." He kissed me for long moments and it was in no time at all that I feel into a deep restful sleep.

AN:

SpdrAnger006: Glad you have enjoyed the last installment of the Harden sequence. It was quite fun to work it into our story as it is a good series and gives Meagan and Obi-Wan some more drama in their lives. (As if they need anymore.) Thanks again and hope you enjoyed this chapter.

Tauriel Skywalker. We don't know if you have made it this far but wanted to respond to your reviews. You have certainly done a lot of reading and we are pleased you enjoyed the story and responded positively to it. Meagan and Obi-Wan have been good characters to get to know and we've enjoyed creating a story for them with their family and there are parts of the Clone Wars that she will not be happy about. Also Meagan did not see Episode three so she is unaware of some events and as she is such a part of the world now, she has forgotten a lot of things, including things she should remember. We think she did avoid it as it would be painful for her. As for "Mara Kenobi" we had fun putting into the story as she was EU at the time of its writing and was a popular theory. (Of course now she is legend.) As for Luke and Sasha, we are sorry but they will not become a couple which there are several reasons behind it that don't include their age difference. Once the story is concluded we may share them with our readers. As for Cyrilla we were looking for something different and it sounded good with Sasha. We found it in a baby name book and it means ladylike. Thanks again and hope you liked this chapter.

Here are our quotes in honor of Carrie Fisher, she will always be royalty. From The Empire Strikes Back.

Princess Leia: Why, you stuck up….half witted…..scruffy looking nerf-herder.

Han: Who's scruffy looking?

And for her mom, Debbie Reynolds: From Singing in the Rain

Kathy: You keep away from me! Just because you're a big movie star, wild parties, swimming pools, you expect every girl to fall in a dead faint at your feet. Well, don't you touch me!

Don Lockwood: [chanting] Fear not, sweet lady! I will not molest you. I am but a humble jester, and you? You are too far above me!

[he gets out of the car and closes the door on his coat tails]

Don Lockwood: Farewell, Ethel Barrymore! I must tear myself from your side!

[Don tears his coat. Kathy guffaws as Don walks away]
