Chapter One Hundred and Two

**Meagan's Point of View**

I held my breath as we heard the gang plank begin to lower and then the droids loading onto the ship. The clanging of their steps sounded loud in my ears as I held my breath, hoping this plan was going to work. Obi-Wan, though I knew he must have had his reservations, was calm and collected. He squeezed my hand as the droids walked right past us, talking among themselves about who was on board.

Once they passed, Obi-Wan slowly moved us out of our hiding place, tugging on my hand, leading us out of the ship. My husband let go of my hand to rather silently take care of the droids standing guard right outside of our ship.

Thankfully the hanger bay was fairly empty and we were able to sneak around the droids stationed there.

"Where are we going?" I asked, glad we could communicate without speaking out loud.

"Somewhere we might find some answers." Obi-Wan pulled me into a corner as a few patrol droids walked by.

Once the sound of their clanking slowly faded away, Obi-Wan cautiously peeked around the corner, easing our way down the hall. We wandered around the ship for several turns before we came up to a terminal.

Obi-wan turned touching some of the keys on the monitor. "I am hoping to discover something that may be able to help us."

I stood by, trying not to be too anxious, hoping he would find something useful.

"I can't tell if our fleet is near but I believe Ventress is on board." Obi-Wan whispered, explaining what he thought was going on. "Grevious's flagship is much larger and Dooku never gets his hands this dirty."

I nodded, grasping my husband's arms. "What's next?"

Obi-Wan sighed. "Keep out of sight, learn as much as we can and wait for the fleet to arrive."

It sounded much easier than it really was.

"Come." Obi-Wan pulled me away rather quickly as some droids were heard coming from another corridor. Just moments before they arrived, Obi-Wan and I ducked into an alcove, hiding us from the passing droids.

I held my breath, almost afraid to breathe, that we would be caught. However it was not much longer when the sounds of the droids clanking began increasing. They were obviously looking for us. A gentle squeeze of my hand from Obi-Wan was the only thing that kept me from panicking. I still wondered if we would come out of this alive.

Once another patrol passed, Obi-Wan began leading me down another hallway. We soon found another terminal where he began drawing up a map. "If we can get back to the hanger and to our ship, once the fleet arrives we may be able to escape."

"Can it tell you if they are near?" I asked, trying to keep my voice from shaking.

He shook his head. "Come, we best keep moving."

We somehow managed to avoid detection, though there were several close calls. Finally, it seemed the support Obi-Wan had called for arrived. From what we could tell, a battle was ensuing.

"Come on." Obi-Wan began pulling me quicker through the ship, trying to get back to the hanger.

"Obi-Wan." A crackling sound was heard as Anakin's voice came over the comlink.

"Meagan and I were taken aboard. We are safe for the moment but we need a distraction to get back on our ship and out of here."

"Will do." Anakin came back, sounding a bit too glad.

"Nothing too dramatic." Obi-Wan commanded before the connection closed. He sighed, before tugging on my hand.

Within minutes it became obvious Anakin was providing more than a distraction. The ship shook, only Obi-Wan's hold on my hand kept me from crashing into the side walls.

Unfortunately, this is where our good luck ended as several sets of droids were coming towards us from several different directions.

"Obi-Wan…." I called out silently, glancing around then back to my husband.

He didn't speak, either out loud or through our bond, just pulled me along with him, silently down the corridor.

Though he stopped short as a darkness swept towards us, a darkness that rather familiar. Ventress was following us.

"Obi-Wan…"

He still didn't answer, but did squeeze my hand. He quickly tucked us into another corridor narrowly avoiding another set of battle droids before continuing on. Meanwhile the ruckus outside the ship was still making itself known, but I couldn't quite tell who was winning. However, if Ventress was tracking us, that meant she was not buying the distraction.

"I have a bad feeling about this." I said as we turned down another corridor, nearly to the hanger and to our ship but then right in front of us were a group of battle droids.

"There they are." The commander spoke. "Blast them."

As they were speaking, Obi-Wan reached over, unhooking the lightsaber from my belt and ignited it as I fired shots from around him. The droids, thankfully, went down easily and I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Quickly now." Obi-Wan re-hooked the lightsaber to my belt before moving on. However we did not get far before there were too many droids to deal with and in the open room that was before us, stood Ventress.

"Well, look what we have here." She spoke as she walked towards us.

"Hello Ventress." Obi-Wan said as he watched her, very casually as if we were on an afternoon picnic. "It's so lovely to see you."

She only laughed, seemingly amused by our predicament. "You know Kenobi, I find talking with you quite entertaining, however I am on a schedule and do not have time for any delays."

As she was speaking more droids were filling the room and a couple had come over, taking my blaster and Obi-Wan's fake lightsaber. I noticed they did not look at it or do a further search of me.

"Well, that is such a pity." Obi-Wan said, obviously hoping that the droids would not take the "lightsaber" to her, as she would certainly notice, but kept speaking, wanting to distract her. "Because our conversations are so enlightening."

"Are they now?" Ventress said as we were completely surrounded by the droids and she approached us a bit more slowly. But yet she seemed so disappointed. "This was almost too easy, I thought capturing you would not feel so anticlimactic." She paused as the two stared at one another, seemingly trying to figure out the other's plans. "I wish I could kill you as it would be so rewarding but my master wants you alive. Such a pity."

"I am not so easy to kill Ventress, you should know that by now." Obi-Wan bantered back.

Ventress glanced only briefly towards me before turning her attention towards my husband. "We shall see." She then turned to the droids. "Lock them up and post a guard, we are leaving."

With that she turned and left as the droids prodded us with their blasters, taking us down another series of corridors before motioning us into a small cell. Sighing, I sat down on the hard bench that was supposed to be a bed and felt as the ship turned into hyperspace. A sinking feeling settled into my stomach, we could be going anywhere.

Noting the guards outside, I was careful not to speak out loud. "So what now?"

Maddeningly my husband did not answer me, only turning to the droids, asking a couple of seemingly stupid questions which soon had the droids arguing about where we could be going.

Though after a few minutes, another droid walked by, telling them to shut up and not to talk with the prisoners.

Soon Obi-Wan sat down next to me. "Are you alright?" He spoke quietly.

I only gave a slight shrug. "As well as I can be."

He nodded before slipping an arm around me, tugging me close to him. "Try to get some rest."

That wasn't what I was expecting. And I wanted answers. "Please Obi-Wan, a plan?"

"I'm working on it but we may need to know more before acting." Well, that was at least something.

"Are we going to make it out of this alive?" I wondered, trying to not let my fear overrun me, trying to stay positive that we would make it home again.

Obi-Wan gave me a twisted smile. "Anakin and I have made it out of tighter spots."

I could not help but sigh as he tugged me closer to him, kissing my temple gently.

"This isn't over with yet, not by far. Sooner or later Ventress will come in here and we might learn more."

I wasn't quite sure if I found that comforting or not but Obi-Wan's gentle tug through our bond, his fingers tracing down the length of my hair to soothe my rather frazzled nerves.

I must have fallen asleep or just fazed out because the next thing I was aware of was Ventress' deep voice. "Isn't that so sweet? You two look so cozy."

I tried not to glare at her but I am not sure if I succeeded or not as she merely laughed before she spoke again.

"Well, you should be pleased to know that I am still not allowed to kill you."

"And you always obey your master?" Obi-Wan asked, sounding much more casual than I knew he was.

"In this case, I unfortunately have to." She said, almost sounding disappointed that she couldn't do what she wanted to do with us. "He wants to see you, so both of you are to arrive to my Master in one piece."

Dooku I thought but we had already surmised that.

"And where is that to be?"

"It's a surprise." She almost sounded cheerful about it. "Though I am afraid you will have to wait a little longer as we have to make another stop first." With that, she turned and seemingly glided out of the room.

Obi-Wan sat in deep thought for some time before speaking. "We need to find out when and where this stop is."

"But it would be on a Separatist controlled world." I pointed out, making sure to keep my voice low, so the patrolling droids would not hear us.

Obi-Wan watched me for a long moment before explaining. "We have a better chance of sneaking off planet than we would if we get taken to Dooku." He once again paused. "I do not want to even think about what he or his Master will do if he senses you're pregnant."

Rather unconsciously, I placed a hand over my middle, wanting to protect my baby. "So what are we going to do?"

He looked rather thoughtful again. "I don't know yet, but I think she has given us a means to escape."

"And this cell?" I asked.

Obi-Wan looked at the cell door before speaking. "I memorized the number the droids entered into the key pad and there are only two droids. It's after that where it gets more difficult." He paused for another long moment before speaking again, reaching up a hand to stroke his beard. "Mmm…..we will have to carefully think about that part."

At least there was some sort of plan with hopefully more to come. Though knowing he would share more when he figured it out, and realizing I would need strength later when we did escape, I settled down to rest. I could tell Obi-Wan was meditating about our issues but kept me close against him and I found his presence very comforting in this situation. If I had been alone, I am not sure I would have been able to survive.

Once again, I must have fallen asleep as the mechanical voices of the droids roused me from my rest or it might have been Obi-Wan sitting up a little straighter, obviously paying close attention to their conversation.

It wasn't until the voices stopped as the droids continued to work around the detention area when Obi-Wan noticed I was awake. He glanced outside our cell before speaking softly. "We should be making a stop in a couple hours. I think they may be either dropping off supplies or getting equipment."

"Is it a place where we can hide?"

Obi-Wan appeared thoughtful. "If I recall correctly, it is a little smaller but it does have some larger cities where we may be able to hide. I don't know if the residents are friendly to us or not."

"And how are we going to get off this ship?"

He gave me a bit of a twisted grin. "I haven't quite figured that out yet."

At least the plan was slowly coming along but the situation still seemed to be rather bleak. But yet trying to hide on a separatist ruled planet was better than being taken to Dooku. I shuddered at the thought of being in a cell, him waiting till I gave birth and then took my baby from me.

Obi-Wan, obviously sensing my thoughts or at least my emotions, tightened an arm around me. "I will not let anything happen to you or to the baby. We will somehow get out of this."

I gave him a shaky smile before he gently kissed me.

"Try to get some more rest. We still have a little bit of time before trying something."

I agreed and laying my head in his lap, closed my eyes, wishing we were already safe back in the Temple.

**Anakin's Point of View**

I had been standing on the bridge of my cruiser when I could see Ventress's ship vanishing into hyperspace.

"Oh no!" I heard Ahsoka exclaim from next to me.

"Rex," I called over the comm unit, who was leading a squadron. "Can you tell if they got off the ship?"

"I am sorry General but there are no other ships on our scopes and we did not see anything leave their hanger bay or any escape pods." Rex answered, obviously upset and frustrated as we were.

"Last known point of direction?" I asked as I heard Ahsoka, trying to reach them on her comlink, but the Separatist must have been jamming our communications.

"Nothing General Skywalker, they are gone."

I glanced back to my Padawan and realized with a sinking feeling in my stomach that Obi-Wan and Meagan were completely gone and in the hands of our enemies.

"Are we going after them?" She asked in a quiet voice.

I was about to say yes, I wanted to say yes, but realized we had no way to track them, at least not yet. "Not yet but we will." With that I put in a call to the Temple.

Master Yoda was deeply troubled about my report but especially about Meagan. I knew why but knew not everyone there knew she was pregnant and knowing their wishes did not speak of it. Though we all agreed, more than likely, Ventress's orders would be to take them to Dooku.

"We must consider the possibility she killed them."

I shook my head. "I would have felt it being so close and so would Sasha for that matter. Even from that great of a distance she would have felt something."

I heard Master Yoda sigh. "Speak with her I will."

"I will need more troops, with a few ships and we will need a solid plan to sneak into Serenno." I spoke into a sudden silence.

"We do not know if she was taking them there or not." Windu put in. "It is too dangerous to mount a rescue mission right now. We need to know more."

The rest of the Council agreed but I almost felt like waiting would put Meagan and Obi-Wan in more danger but maybe Windu was right and more lives would be lost going in blindly. I felt so torn, I wasn't sure if I should take off on my own or not when Master Yoda spoke.

"Come back to Coruscant you will." He said, as if reading my thoughts. "Send out our intelligence we will and once know more rescue your friends you can." But it was his last words that made up my mind. "Need to see you Sasha will."

"Yes Master. We will leave at once." The connection then tuned out and I turned to Rex. "Set a course for home."

"Yes sir." He passed on the orders and I could tell how much the men were affected.

"Don't worry Rex, we will be back out here soon and we will find them."

He managed a smile as he turned back to his work. "I am sure we will."

I turned to find Ahsoka looking rather sad and upset. I placed my hand on her shoulder, needing to comfort her. "I know Padawan, it's hard and I am hurting too but they both need us to be strong right now so we can rescue them when we have a chance too."

"I know." She glanced around and seeing us alone, but still whispered. "I'm worried about the baby, what if Dooku or Ventress discover Meagan's pregnant?"

I gave a long sigh. "I know, that worries me too but Obi-Wan will not let anything happen to her."

She managed a small smile. "I hope you are right."

"I'm always right." I hoped a little light banter would make both of us feel better because I had a sinking feeling that I might have just spoken to them for the last time.

**Meagan's Point of View**

I was suddenly roused from my rest as Obi-Wan woke me up. "Come." Was all he said as he helped me to my feet then took his lightsaber. "Stay close."

His voice was a mere whisper as the ship dropped out of hyperspace. We stood at the cell door for a long moment, watching the movements of the two droids guarding us. Using the Force, Obi-Wan entered the code into the door panel and the door slid open. I moved behind him as he crept up to the first droid. He took it out and then quickly took out the second before they knew what happened or could call for reinforcements. Before leaving Obi-Wan handed me one their blasters.

We quietly but quickly made our way through the ship. Obi-Wan slicing through the handful of droids we encountered.

"Where are we going?" I asked after we stepped around the droids, now laying in pieces on the ships floor.

"To the bridge. I am going to create a distraction then hopefully we can get into an escape pod and be gone by the time the ship is under control." Obi-Wan gave me a glance before telling me what he wanted me to do, then ending with. "If all goes ill, save yourself."

"No, I'm not leaving you." I protested as we were quickly approaching the bridge.

"Please, for our children." His eyes were pleading and I found myself nodding, still not wanting to leave him, but would honor his last request.

"Hello Ventress." Obi-Wan said after we entered the cockpit.

Ventress stood from her chair in the middle, thankfully there was only a handful of droids controlling the ship.

For once she was at a loss of words as Obi-Wan approached her, lightsaber in hand.

"I am a man of many talents." He said over the blaster shots I made from behind a pillar, knocking out a couple of the droids. "Shall we my dear?"

"It would be my pleasure." She bowed slightly as she pulled out her curved lightsabers and engaged him in battle.

Even though I wanted to help Obi-Wan, I knew I needed to do my part so we could escape together. I had no intention of becoming a widow now. So the last battle droid or two went down easily and I headed over to the control console.

Thankfully Obi-Wan kept Ventress distracted long enough for me to alter the course of the ship, to take it straight down, turning off all controls. The ship lurched suddenly to one side once it was completed.

"What did you do Kenobi?" Ventress was outraged.

"Nothing to spectacular." Obi-Wan almost grinned as I started for the door. "Though this is a nice ship, too bad it is going to crash."

She attacked him with a ferocity that nearly made my head swim. I made a move to go help him but heard him clearly.

"Run Meagan. I will be right behind you."

Still not wanting to leave, but realizing I would also only be in the way, I hurried to the door and headed away from the cockpit. Thankfully with the ship out of control, the droids were in confusion about what was going on and what to do, leaving me mostly able to go where I needed to. I did have to take out a few droids here and there.

I finally made it to the escape pods, realizing time was about running out. I found one of the pods to be a bit bigger and looked more customized. Ventress' work no doubt. I secured the door and after a quick search, I found a small survival kit, knowing we may need it. Then I turned on the power, hesitant to hit eject and leave my husband.

"Obi-Wan?" I called, almost not wanting to disturb him if he was still locked in a duel with Ventress but I didn't want to leave him. But he was right, there was the children to think about.

"Are you safe?"

"In an escape pod. Where are you?"

"I will see you on the planet then, go." Obi-Wan spoke and I guessed he was away from Ventress.

"I am not leaving you." I protested, sensing he was close.

I heard him sigh, obviously not protesting. Thankfully it was only a few minutes later I heard. "Meagan, the door."

I unlocked the door and he hurried in, looking no worse for wear. I wanted to throw my arms around him, but there was no time for being sentimental. And there was no time to ask if Ventress was dead or not and we were not out of this by far. Obi-Wan meanwhile sild right past me, sitting in the control seat.

"Sit down, we are getting out of here." I sat and within seconds we were free.
