AN: Hello everyone! This chapter only has a little of Meagan but focuses more on Anakin and Obi-Wan and the choices they are going to be making. Anyway this has been an exciting sequence to be writing, been one of our favorites and unfortunately it's starting to come to an end. Though the final conclusion will probably be during the next chapter, so stayed tuned for that. Thanks again to all our readers, reviewers and anyone who has favorited us, we always appreciate it. Enjoy!

Chapter One Hundred and Seven

**Meagan's Point of View**

Obi-Wan lay dead upon the floor, his lightsaber rolling out of his limp hand, Dooku calling it to him. Grief swelled up within me as the Dark Lord came for me, a sneer forming across his lips. "If your husband will not join me, perhaps your child will."

I loudly protested, fought against him as he took me away. I was thrown into a dark room, with no hope of escape but would be kept alive only because the dark lords wanted something else from me, my baby.

There was much pain and darkness. A small voice calling, the child, barely more than a babe, dragged from my arms. "Mummy, mummy."

"Come to me child." A dark voice from beneath a black hood hissed at us. "I am your Master now."

I screamed my protests, trying to reach my child, but to no avail. The Dark Lord had taken my baby from me and I was left alone in the dark.

It seemed like an eternity had passed when I was looking through a haze, the walls of my prison gone but could not see where I even was, but something was coming towards me. It was something familiar but something dark, something that made my stomach turn.

"Hello mother." The dark voice sent shivers down my spine. "Have you seen what I have become?"

Before I could speak, a lightsaber was ignited, a red lightsaber.

"No please, don't…." The last thing I saw was the blade coming towards me.

Someone was screaming, someone was trying to hold me, trying to say something but I couldn't understand it through the fog of my mind. I fought hard against it, wanting to escape, to get away, Obi-Wan was dead, our child turned evil by Dooku and his Master, wanting, trying to kill me.

"Meagan." Someone was shaking me as I fought against it but it was much stronger than I was. "Meagan, it's me, Obi-Wan, your husband."

I felt Obi-Wan trying to reach me through our bond, but he was dead. But it was enough to still my movements slightly. The screaming stopped, but my mind felt like I was in a daze. I blinked my eyes rapidly, desperately trying to focus, to gather myself together.

"Meagan." This time the arm around my shoulders was gentle, tender, familiar.

"Obi-Wan?" It couldn't be true, but yet I was no longer in the dark room, but on some sort of space ship.

"I'm here." The accented voice was warm and familiar. So was the hand brushing my sweat soaked hair away from my face. "It's over Meagan, it was only a dream."

"You are dead." I managed to stutter, staring at the man that looked like my husband, like I still couldn't make out if this was the dream or my own child killing me was the dream. "Dooku killed you, kept me captive, he has our baby." I could barely think straight, terrified my dream was coming true, my entire body shaking. "He took our baby, then he tried to kill me."

"Meagan, listen to me." Obi-Wan's voice was quiet and calm, his touch just beginning to sooth my over wrought nerves. "You are safe, I am alive. You are still pregnant, the baby growing strong within you."

"It was so real." I verbally protested as I told him everything, but soon felt my body relaxing against his rather comforting familiar warmth. "The red lightsaber coming toward me from my own…" I started weeping now, not able to have any control over my emotions.

He held me close as I cried for some time as he comforted me. "It's over Meagan, you're safe, our baby is safe." His voice was so soft and soothing, a warm hand winding through my hair. "It was only a dream, nothing more."

"But it was so real." Though it was beginning to fade as I finally began to settle, the tears after so many long moments fading away.

"I know love, but it was nothing more than a dream." The voice was so sure, so confident that I stopped protesting it.

He managed to loosen one of my hands which was gripping his shirt rather tightly and took it, placing it on my middle. I could feel the small growing swell. I breathed a deep sigh of relief as the truth finally settled in, it was a dream, Obi-Wan was alive and safe and so was the baby.

For the next several minutes, we lay together, our hands connecting over my middle, the comforting quiet hum of hyperspace the only sound other than our breathing. I soon began to feel the pull of sleep but didn't want to, afraid of the dreams I might have, but my body soon gave in to exhaustion and this time, thankfully no dreams haunted me.

**Anakin's Point of View**

The search for Meagan and Obi-Wan carried on and we continued daily to throw ourselves into it, still determined to find them and bring them back home. So while Jema and Dede were contacting Meagan's friends, contacts and such, Ahsoka and I continued to draw out all possible routes that they could be taking, stopping on different planets for food or fuel. However, this was going on the assumption that they escaped from Ventress and were working their way back home. However, if this was wrong, it might cost Obi-Wan and Meagan their lives but I had to start somewhere and this was as good of a start as any. But I believed my statement to my young apprentice was correct, Obi-Wan would have tried to contact us somehow, in some way that wouldn't put them into more danger. So I asked Rex and Cody to keep working on the static noises and anything else they could think of. But once again, I found nothing.

"Maybe I'm going crazy." I confided in Padme one night. "I thought for sure that was the answer, that Obi-Wan would communicate with me and it would be something he would think about doing, knowing he couldn't directly do so."

Padme reached up, running her fingers comfortingly through my hair. "Well, maybe he is communicating in a different way, maybe sending a message to someone outside the Jedi Order."

"Jema and Dede have started sending messages to the people Meagan keeps in normal contact with and none of them have heard anything. Not even something they thought was sent to the wrong person or some strange message they didn't know who sent it. They are starting on some of the ones that are less likely but we have to keep trying." I gave a long sigh as she pulled me close.

"Have faith Anakin, you will find them. The Separatist would not have remained silent if they had managed to kill them." She kissed me gently and that was more soothing than her words.

Though I nearly shuddered at the thought of their deaths. At the end of every day when no word of their deaths came, I breathed a sigh of relief but every day we heard nothing also felt like the odds of us finding them were dropping. Where were they? And would we find them in time?

**Obi-Wan's Point of View**

Meagan was sleeping, thankfully peacefully this time. Her tears had calmed, her emotions no longer felt like they were in a whirlwind, being much calmer. I hoped the baby wasn't too affected by this latest turn of events.

It had made sense Dooku was coming after us, especially since Grievous failed in his attempt to recapture us. At first I thought it was Meagan really sensing the danger instead of the baby but now with her dream, I was not so sure. Even after meditating on it, I felt uneasy, unsettled, like there was something dark looming ahead of us, right above the horizon, but elusive, the source slipping through our fingers. Though when considering everything, it was making me realize, made me rethink her dream was no dream but a possible vision that our child was in grave danger. Maybe that's why it was the baby that sensed it while the rest of us did not. Either way, this told me I needed to get Meagan to safety and quickly. But how?

I sighed, giving up on trying to sleep. Not wanting to disturb Meagan, I rose from the small bed and left our quarters. I entered the small kitchen, originally thinking a cup of tea would settle my nerves but found myself pulling out Dalton's whiskey.

"Is something wrong? What happened?" Dalton asked as he entered the room a few minutes later, just as I took my second gulp of the dark liquor.

I shook my head, not really wanting to give an explanation. "Everything's fine."

He cocked an eyebrow as he pulled out a glass then began pouring himself a drink. "So, you're in here drinking in the middle of the night for nothing?"

I guess some explanation would be needed. "Meagan had a nightmare and I have not been able to go back to sleep." Especially as the images she described were so real, too real.

"Is she alright?" Dalton asked, not bothering to hide his concern.

"She is now sleeping peacefully."

He watched me for a long moment, making me even more uneasy. He took a sip of his drink before speaking. "But you don't think this was a normal bad dream." It was not a question but a statement.

At my questioning look, he quickly explained. "Before giving you to the Jedi, I did some studying on a Jedi's ability and I remember reading that Jedi can have prophetic dreams or visions."

I was rather impressed. "Though they are not always reliable, not accurate to actual events."

"But I'm sure the actions of the people involved will affect the outcome."

"Yes, somewhat." I hedged, not really wanting to get into a philosophical discussion now, in the middle of the night.

But thankfully he soon directed our discussion back to the present. "But you obviously have put some stake into it with Meagan knowing Dooku was coming and now her dream or you wouldn't be in here drinking hard liquor."

I gave a long deep sigh before answering, knowing I couldn't keep it from him for too much longer. "I think Meagan and the baby are in grave danger. Dooku is more than likely trying to track us. I should bring out the star maps and try to find some way out of this mess. Maybe try to figure out where Dooku might go to find us."

Dalton took a moment or two to speak, still looking concerned about this. "Obi-Wan, I don't think right now would be a good time to make a major decision. I think we should both try to get some sleep than try to figure out where Dooku might go and where we can go to keep safe and avoid him."

I nodded, it made sense as I took another sip, the whiskey burning down my throat. "Thank you."

Dalton gave a nod before changing the subject. "You fancy Corellian whiskey?"

I could not help but smile a little. "When Meagan lets me."

He laughed. "Even though my kids are grown and the grands are with us occasionally, Rosabella doesn't want it in the house, only on my ship. Don't think that will change when yours are grown."

I couldn't help but chuckle. "I do not expect it to." I took one last swig. "Thank you for your advice, I'd best go make sure Meagan is still sleeping."

He nodded. "Goodnight."

Feeling at least slightly better about everything. I returned to our quarters. Meagan was still sleeping peacefully, thankfully. I settled next to her and this time, I feel asleep more easily.

**Anakin's Point Of View**

"General Skywalker?" I heard Rex's voice from behind me as I sat at my desk at home.

"Find anything Rex?" I put down my datapad and turned my attention to him.

"Sorry sir, but nothing new." He said but handed over another couple datapads. "Here are some more sub-space recordings. Though I don't know if they will help us find them."

"Obi-Wan must be communicating somehow, someone is helping them, we just have to find out how."

He managed a smile. "I hope so sir." He glanced up to Sasha who was sitting somewhat nearby coloring but seemed to be only partially interested in it. "Poor little squirt. How is she holding up?"

"About as well as can be, considering."

"Well for her sake, I hope we find her parents."

"So do I." I glanced to the datapads. "I will start listening to these and see, maybe we will get lucky."

"Any other orders?"

I was about to tell him to keep doing what he was doing but then thought of something else, pointing at the hyperspace lanes I was currently looking at. "Check with the two outposts along this route to have them immediately report anything that is even the slightest bit unusual." He seemed slightly surprised but didn't say anything but I further explained. "I know we know very little of what happened but I have a theory and I think that's where Obi-Wan might be heading towards."

"Very good sir, I will get right on it." With my permission, Rex left.

As I went back to what I was working on before, I began to listen to the recordings. And once again, the majority of them were slightly different but not enough to warrant any further searching, nothing in them to indicate anything. But maybe I was searching for something that was not there. That there was nothing to….The current pattern of the one I was playing out loud as I worked, suddenly caught my attention.

I quickly re-listened to it, hoping that it wasn't in my mind, but it wasn't. There was a pattern to it. It sounded nearly exactly like a sub-space message but yet there was something to it. I felt like I should know it, but nothing was coming to mind. For the next day or so, I listened to it again and again, but still nothing.

"Anakin, I am sorry but I do not recognize it." Padme told me as I played it for her. "I can hear something that might be a pattern, but it sounds like normal sub-space static to me." She paused, looking like she was going to tell me I was going crazy or something but did not speak again.

"But Padme most sub-space messages don't have that repeating pattern, not like this."

She gave a long sigh, but decided against saying something or it might have been Sasha coming into the room, interrupting us that did it. "We can discuss this later."

During dinner and afterwards, I had left the recording playing, maybe if it was always playing quietly in the background it would jog my memory. It didn't, but yet the feeling that I was onto something was growing. Even if Padme and Ahsoka thought I was losing my mind.

It wasn't until the following afternoon when it came together. Sasha and Ahsoka were sitting in the living area, both working on their studies while I sat at the desk working as I had the pattern playing again.

Suddenly their voices raised, Ahsoka saying she needed quiet to concentrate, but Sasha was making too much noise. I sighed, not really in the mood to deal with this but knew I had to handle it anyway, called Sasha over to me.

I pulled her onto my lap. "Why don't you sit here with me for a while so Ahsoka can get her work done?"

"Okay." She said and placed her workbooks on the desk and started on them. I watched her for a moment practicing her letters and numbers, her writing much improving. Though after a few moments I noticed she was singing something.

"Sasha what is that you're singing?" I asked her.

"It's a song mummy taught me that she learned when she was young." She said, her voice a little sad.

I gently kissed the top of her head. "I know I miss them too."

Though as she kept singing I slowly realized she was singing in beat to the message I was playing. That was it. This was why it sounded so familiar, it was a song Meagan had sung! My heart was racing. Had Sasha just helped find her missing parents?

"Sasha." I waited until I had her attention before continuing, then picked up the data pad, turning it up, asking. "This pattern playing, is this the same song that your mummy sung for you?"

She listened for a couple moments before confirming it. "For the most part."

"But it sounds basically the same?" I asked again, wanting to make sure.

"Yes." Sasha looked at me questionably. "Do you want to learn the song too?"

I couldn't help but laugh. "I would love to, but some other time. Sasha, I know you are a bit young to understand everything, but that 'song' I believe has come from your parents."

Her eyes lit up. "They sent it? Then where are they?"

"I don't know yet but I am hoping this signal will help them come home." I hugged her close, then giving her a big kiss on the cheek. "Let's tell everyone the good news."

Sasha ran off toward the kitchen area where Padme was, calling nearly at the top of her lungs. After she was gone, Ahsoka who was obviously listening, asked. "Are you sure Master?"

I nodded, it had to be him. It just had to be them. They were alive and I was going to find them.

**Obi-Wan's Point of View**

In the morning, Meagan and I awoke about the same time. "How are you feeling?" I asked her, hoping she wasn't having side effects from the day or night before.

She managed a slight smile. "As well as can be considering everything."

I gently placed my hand on the slight swell of her middle. "Is the baby okay?"

Meagan smiled, placing her hand above mine. "The baby is fine, this one is strong."

Relieved, I leaned over and kissed her gently. "Are you hungry?"

Not surprisingly she nodded and we began to get ready for the day.

After we ate, I settled down to meditate. Even though I managed to get some rest last night, I still felt uneasy. After meditating, the uneasiness was gone but knew Meagan and the baby were in danger and I needed to do something about it. Rising from where I was seated, I went into the cockpit and began pulling up our course and trying to calculate the quickest route to the Republic's nearest outpost. But Dooku knew that would be the route we would most likely take.

So next I began to recalculate different routes. As I was doing so, Dalton came up from behind me. "There are often pirates patrolling those lanes." He was pointing out the route I was currently looking at. "They may not bother us but it could be just as likely they would blow us out of the sky."

I gave a sigh, well knowing that myself but also trying to decide which would be the greater risk or maybe find another solution altogether. "How much fuel do we have?"

"On our current course, enough to make it to safer space." Dalton pulled up the reserves on the terminal. "We should make it on another similar course but if we back track anymore, we would have to make at least one stop."

That was not what I wanted to hear. "As we would have to go back quite a ways to out maneuver both Grievous and Dooku."

"You think Grievous would also be tracking us now that Dooku found us?"

"I think Dooku will figure out which direction we took and send Grievous and his troops to guard some hyperspace lanes on a course we are likely to take while he has other troops guard another one."

"So it sounds like we have three choices. Either keep on our current course or a similar one and try to get past Dooku or Grievous, completely back track and find a way around them or hide out somewhere until they give up."

Taking in Dalton's words I continued to stare at the star maps before addressing him a few moments later. "If I knew for sure help was coming, I would say we could hideout. I know Anakin is looking for us but I do not know if he's close to finding us."

Dalton nodded. "That makes sense."

I gave another sigh as I considered the other options and realized neither of them were the best. In one ship, with a good part of the majority of the Separatist fleet against us, we would not stand a good enough chance to escape. However, if we back tracked, it would cost us a lot of time. The question remained if it would be enough time to get far enough away and to another outpost before Dooku realized we had taken another course.

Dalton was beginning to look as discouraged as I was feeling but was trying to stay positive. "We'll come up with something."

"I think it would be best if we didn't speak to Meagan about this now. It took me a while to calm her, I am not sure how she will react to this."

Dalton nodded. "Though you can't keep it from her for too long. We have to drop out of hyperspace to change lanes soon."

"How much time do we have? I think that is where Dooku will be more than likely waiting for us."

Dalton turned before pulling it up and told me.

"What is around there? Anything that we could use as an advantage?" I asked him, hoping for some sliver of good news.

He turned and pulled back up the star charts which listed the planets and some information about them. "There is not much, nothing friendly to the Republic. What are you thinking about doing?"

I gave a sigh. "I do not know." I needed time but did not have an abundance of it.

Excusing myself, I found a quiet corner of the ship and began to meditate, trying to sort through the different options, trying to find the option with the least amount of risks or was there another option we had not considered? Though as I slowly thought and felt my way through them, I began to realize that to make sure Meagan reached Republic space, one of us would have to stay behind, to cause a distraction, to divert the troops long enough for the others to jump to safer space. If they could get far enough away, they would be able to contact Anakin, who was already searching for us, and he would come to their aid. But how in the Force would I tell Meagan about this?

**Anakin's Point of View**

"Anakin, what is this I hear about you finding a message from Obi-Wan and Meagan?" Jema found me in the hallways of the Temple the day after I discovered the secret message.

As we walked along, I gave her the update about the sub-space message.

"What else have you learned?" She asked, almost seeming a bit skeptical.

I couldn't help but sigh. "Not much. I have the men working on trying to determine what kind of ship or the different possibilities at least and maybe from what direction. It won't be a lot but more than what we had a few days ago."

She still looked doubtful. "Anakin are you sure about this?"

"I know the evidence is not a lot to go on but my instincts tell me I am onto something. None of the other leads have panned out anything."

She watched me for a moment or two before speaking again. "Based on this, what do you think happened?"

"I think they found a way to escape Ventress and/or Dooku and found a ride or 'borrowed' a ship and are trying to make their way home. They sent this message, knowing I am looking for them and hoping it will help us find them."

Jema watched me for several long minutes as if deciding something but I was clueless as to what. Then she spoke. "If that is the case I may have something. Let's go to my office and I can explain."

Once we were situated in her office, she started out. "As you know we have contacted different friends and acquaintances from previous projects Meagan has worked on and have turned up nothing. No one received any type of messages that was strange or different or from her directly."

I nodded to show I understood as she continued on. "We also have started contacting others she had been in communication with less recently and haven't come up with anything. So I started reviewing her notes from different missions and projects, anything that might help us." She paused as she once again studied me, as if making a decision. "Anakin, do you honestly think this sub-space message was from Obi-Wan?"

"I am positive Jema. If they were in Dooku's custody he would make a deal of it, negotiate terms with the Republic, he's too valuable a hostage to do otherwise. And if Dooku killed Obi-Wan in a duel, he would have let it be known, he'd be too proud of it. Sasha would know if her parents were dead. They are alive, they escaped, and I am going to find them."

Quiet reigned in the room for long moments and sensing a reveal, I didn't speak, hoping she would have something that would help.

"Anakin, what I am about to tell you, well, I am not sure I should be telling you this but if it saves their lives, I do not think Meagan would mind." She glanced out the small window, watching the traffic before turning back to me. "I had completely forgotten about this until I was looking through some of Meagan's mission reports and remembered it."

"On one of her missions, oh this was months ago, but one of the volunteers is a freighter pilot, really helped her secure goods that people desperately needed. Apparently he runs several stores and quite a good size shipping business. She told me he has no government contracts so his company can move around pretty freely."

"You think she might have contacted him? For just having known him for a short period of time, it is quite a risk in this situation."

"I know." Another long pause. "Meagan would trust him considering the fact he's Obi-Wan's father."

I sat there is stunned silence. Obi-Wan's father? "Is she sure about this and does Obi-Wan know?"

"I do not know much or exactly how this came about but Meagan told me she met him and I confirmed it with Obi-Wan's birth records but promised I wouldn't say anything. When she returned I asked her about it and she said he asked her not to say anything as he thought Obi-Wan didn't like him too much."

"He probably sensed the man was lying to him and it put him on edge." I theorized.

Jema nodded. "That's more or less what Meagan said. But from the little she said, I believe they became good friends. But whether or not they stayed in touch I do not know."

"But you think she would have now?" My mind was racing, trying to think about how this would help me find them alive.

Jema sighed. "If you are right in deducing they escaped and needed help but couldn't contact us, then yes, I think she would have."

"And considering the situation, Obi-Wan wouldn't have any other choice but to agree."

Jema nodded.

"What else do you know?" When she hesitated, I pressed on. "You would have feared this man would use Meagan to his advantage and would have investigated him further."

She gave a long sigh then lifted up a data pad. "I ran a background check on him so I have just some basic information on him and his family."

"That would be a good place to start looking."

She handed over the data pad. "Anakin, please tread carefully. I am sure Meagan knows the story of how Obi-Wan came to the Jedi, but…..."

I was glancing over the list of names and dates before interrupting her. "Dalton married Rosabella after Obi-Wan was here in the Temple."

"That is why you need to tread carefully. I have no idea if she knows her husband gave a child to the Jedi or that he is Obi-Wan Kenobi."

I thought about that for a moment. "I can simply go off the idea that they became friends on a mercy mission and Meagan knew he could travel freely and see if she knows where he is. That alone may help us find them. I will be careful." She still looked worried. "You did the right thing, I think you just saved their lives. If events have happened as we have theorized, Obi-Wan might have learned who he is by now anyway."

Jema nodded, seemingly agreeing to it. "I do not have contact information for them but do have the locations of some of their businesses. You will have to find her that way."

"That's a good enough start." I left the room smiling, glad I finally had a legitimate lead, that I was no longer chasing ghosts. "Hang in there." I spoke silently, walking down the quiet halls of the Temple as I went to find either Master Yoda or Windu. "I'm coming for you."

AN: Well, Anakin now knows Dalton Kain is Obi-Wan's father. Hopefully he will find Obi-Wan and Meagan before Dooku does.

For something different the quote is from the trailer from Toy Story 4, it looks quite interesting. But thought this was rather funny. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet.

Buzz: "Let's go." Buzz jumps out of a moving vehicle and rolling down a hill.

Hamm: "Well, when gotta go, you gotta go."
